I have been cruising for 40 years. My very fist cruise was on NCL Starward in 1984. This was a theme cruise which it why I chose it. The Summer Palace was beautiful, the dining room staff was very pleasant, but the food. OMG! Terrible is an understatement for the worst dining room food I have ever experienced. I am amazed at how bad it was! The menu never changed, & the menu descriptions did not describe what they brought out. Crispy fish that came out poached, Bourbon chicken that was really BBQ, mystery sauces on everything! I never went back after day 3 except to look at the menu. The buffet was OK, & I mean just OK. My 1st cabin smelled liked sewage. But, lucky me, there was a water pipe break day 2 which flooded most of the deck, I was able to pack up & move, but my new cabin was in a less than desirable location, over loud equipment used by the staff in the early AM & right under The Stardust Theatre. But at least it didn't smell. Cabin stewards were nice. Most of the people on the ship seemed to be miserable working there & the officers seemed quite unfriendly. Once you are trapped at sea, they nickel & dime you to death! I would swear the ships stabilizers were broken it was so rough. I have never been sea sick before, so I don't if it was that or the bad food, but I stayed queasy for 7 days. I do not believe in saying never, will I will never sail with nor recommend NC to anyone. This ship needs a total remodel. AVOID! Up side, I lost 5 pounds. Read Less

On March 6, 2019, my husband, Bill and I cruised on the NCL Pearl out of Tampa, FL. Joining us on the cruise was my brother-in-law and his new wife. This was to have been a time for the four of us to relax and to enjoy each other’s company, eat good food and enjoy good entertainment. We were excited to get away! Unfortunately this turned out to be the worst vacation experience of our lives. I have waited to write this letter until I could convey my thoughts and feelings devoid of the anger and disappointment I felt at the end of the cruise. I want this letter to inform and enlighten rather than just rail at the inadequacies of the cruise. However, it is difficult even now after sixteen days to put perspective on our very bad experience. Admittedly this was a last minute booking and by the time we decided to book the mini suites were no longer available so we settled for family balcony rooms that cost more than the sale price for the mini suites. We booked and thought that was that but within days we received emails saying we could make bids to upgrade our rooms. The problem was we couldn’t because it wouldn’t guarantee that both couples would get the upgrade. This coupled with the idea that we would now pay even more money for the mini suites (that were not available when we booked) was pretty crass. This bidding program is just ugly and beneath NCL. It really makes NCL stand out as a cheap cruise line. We arrived for the cruise and the embarkation process was very smooth, especially since we are Latitudes members. Kudos to all involved in the process. Actually, I will say that with everything that wasn’t good about the cruise the staff on and off the ship stood out as professional, courteous and gracious, to a fault. I have nothing but good things to say about the NCL staff. We boarded and that’s when reality settled in that we found ourselves booked on a cruise with a very large number of guests all belonging to one group. I believe it would be called a partially chartered cruise since in this case there were more than 800 guests who were there for an affiliated event. A group that no one in my party would choose to be affiliated with yet now we found ourselves in the midst of wherever we went on the ship. This group had a definite agenda and they were there to enjoy themselves as were we. They were often in costume and they many were observed smoking on decks and by the pool and hot tubs. They monopolized every space. Most disturbing were the number of security personnel I observed which made me feel unsafe walking alone on the decks for exercise. The other group that I also need to mention were the number of spring breakers. They also were jockeying for space and so the areas around the pools and hot tubs and bars were simply not available to anyone else. I was heartened to see a family in a hot tub on the last day. I don’t know how they managed to secure it but I’m happy they did. The four of us were just trying to find quiet places where we could play cards and that was difficult to come by too! Even the card room next to the library was being used to sort shirts and was not available to use for its intended purpose. We decided to play cards in the café after meal service was over each evening. We just wanted a table and some quiet away from the craziness. This is also a pass through area from one end of the ship to the other. On two evenings we were treated to verbal altercations and threats between and among passengers. I am not a prude but their language was way over the top and disturbing. One evening was volatile with verbal threats of “I’m going to kill you”. So much for quiet space and playing cards. We were looking forward to the beach day at Great Stirrup Cay and a chance to swim and lay in the sun but due to rough seas they were unable to tender the passengers to shore and the ship was diverted to Freeport. We were offered three possible shore excursions, all at substantial cost. Now if we wanted to go to the beach it was going to cost, I think, $89.00. What was to be part of the cruise was now a paid gig. Add to that it was after 2:30 when passengers were allowed to disembark and it wasn’t worth the time or money and Freeport is an unpleasant little port. From beginning to end this cruise was just unpleasant. Even the entertainment was changed! We were expecting “Legends In Concert” but they never performed. There was a singer one evening, an acrobatic duo who were quite good on another evening. Otherwise the theater was occupied with the 800 members of the group and their TV idols. Finally, I expect that at the very least the ship is going to be clean inside and out. Our rooms were clean and the inside spaces of the ship were clean (if tired) but the windows, the balconies and the rails were filthy as were the clear walls in the outside spaces. Again, I have been on other NCL cruises and never found this to be a problem. We were also dismayed to see how much trash was left by fellow passengers in the elevators, on the stairs, in the hallways, and on the decks (cigarette butts). So, this was a cruise monopolized by one group. They were drinking heavily and many were smoking. The cruise seemed to be tailored to their needs. I have always avoided theme cruises and anything that smacks of a chartered cruise but I didn’t have the opportunity to opt out and that’s just not fair. NCL took advantage of me and others to fill up their ship knowing full well this was a charted cruise. Shame on you. Other cruise lines advertise their “special” cruises and I know to stay away. You can and need to do better NCL! So, what can you do? Be honest with customers from the beginning and tell them if the ship is partially chartered; provide quiet spaces on the smaller ships for people who want to play cards or games. If you are going to continue the after the fact bidding system then find a way to make it work for passengers booking more than one room and inform customers about the bidding system on your website. Finally, wash your ships! So I find myself a Latitudes member no longer enthused about being a member or taking another cruise on NCL. This review doesn’t address everything and the words really don’t convey how bad this cruise was. It’s hard to put it all down but this cruise impacted my relationship with NCL and you lost two prospective Latitudes members. This was their first and last NCL cruise. It was great on the Dawn and the Getaway and I had expectations that it would be great on the Pearl, but it wasn’t. Read Less

This was my 4th year in a row sailing aboard this ship for a themed cruise run by Norwegians company sixthman. TERRIBLE IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT FOR THIS YEAR! The staff was rude and careless! Sewage issues on decks 4 and 10... lets start there. Plastic bags being suspended from the ceilings filled with human waste!!! Pool towels on the floor to capture any spillage. As if that wasn’t bad enough there was no announcement to avoid the areas! And when we walked down the hall we were told to “walk around or duck under the bags”! How in the world is that sanitary?! What happened with those pool towels? Were they laundered or discarded?! Cause when it comes to issues where you’re dealing with BIOHAZARD MATERIAL there are saftey precautions that need to be followed! I have a picture of this posted on my Twitter @kco8586 We go to the Irish pub for food and I order a potato soup... the server brought out seafood gumbo and put it in front of me without saying a word. I’m HIGHLY ALLERGIC TO SEAFOOD! When I asked him where the potato soup I ordered was he told me “oh we switched to the dinner menu so the soup is this now”. How dangerous and careless to do! On top of that he was rude when I explained to him that I was allergic to seafood and would prefer a salad. After that we never saw him again. He had another server drop all of our entrees. Never checked on us. Then, we go to a very popular event on this particular cruise called “dirty bingo” and event security pushed my one friend into a seat and said “you’ll sit where I tell you” then the same guy lunged at my other friend as she was taking a picture. He grabbed her by the wrist and threw her arm down! This is completely and totally unacceptable behavior by any security team! Then to add insult to injury when speaking to another member of the security team at the night club we were informed that this wasn’t the mans first offense when it came to being physical with cruisers! To add insult to all the injury the very last night we leave the silent disco looking for food. To our astonishment we exited the elevator to see two of our celebrity guest standing in front of the closed buffet doors. Only to tel us they were hungry and there was no food. We proceeded down to the Irish pub as we knew they do a late night buffet and low and behold no food. When we asked the person mopping the floor they told us to leave. No explanation nothing! At this point frustrated, thirsty (all hydration stations were away), and hungry our group of about 10 went to the front desk. This was the final straw for me. When asking why there was no food or beverages being served we were told the entire ship was being shut down and sanitized for the guests boarding the next morning!! HELLO! What about the guests standing in front of you still aboard the ship that paid thousands to be there?! Then the rude and snide woman told us to order room service and take drinks from the mini fridge! How exactly do you order room service if all the kitchens are shut down?! And why should we have to acquire extra charges on our rooms when we have paid for the drink packages and the “freestyle dining and 24 hours buffet”? How ridiculous! After 2.5 hours of arguing and asking for a manager this very unhelpful woman got a a member of sixthman staff. This guys name was Matt. Matt was condescending and rude. He talked down to us. His was of rectifying the situation was to give us ring dings and chips. Thousands of dollars on a trip and I’m given ring dings and chips! Unreal! I have since reached out to sixthman and their staff continued to be rude and gave me the run around on everything! It was the blame game for them. Everything was NCL’s fault! Funny considering Sixthman is owned by NCL! Needless to say this is my last cruise with NCL and Sixthman! The last 3 years were amazing but this one was definitely enough to make me never ever go back! Read Less

I was highly dissatisfied by this cruise. I will never sail with nor recommend Norwegian again. The people on the ship were less than helpful and seemed to be miserable working there. The food was disgusting even in the dinner venues. I could have paid extra to go to a specialty restaurant but shouldn’t be forced to by the less than great food in the included choices. The shore excursion folks had absolutely no knowledge on the excursions I had questions about. Not sure why they were even there. I could have just booked on the app. Stabilizers were broken making for an uneasy experience. I have never been sea sick before and still 5 days after being home feel like I am rocking with a queasy feeling. Cruise director was nearly absent the entire cruise. Other cruises keep you updated on the days events and where to go and when to get off the ship at ports. This was not the case on this cruise. The only thing good I can say is that the ports of call were amazing! Read Less

Getting on to the ship was difficult. No real sense of order in the process. The ship itself was ok. The staff were generally nice and friendly. The food was generally decent. The rooms are regular cruise ship rooms, small and tight but ok. There were never enough places to sit at the pool. My father in law took a spill and was taken to the medical bay. After a nearly $2000 bill for the ship "icu", he was sent back to his room. This occurred while rest of the family was gone on an excursion. When we returned, we were told that he would have to leave the ship because they did feel he was medically stable to continue. Most of our family was disembarked in Grand Cayman with very little time to prepare and no assistance with transportation or lodging. The ship then went on it's way back to Tampa and sat outside the bay for hours waiting for it to open. Very little communication was given to the people on board. Never again. Read Less

After contacting Norwegian via their website and mailing a letter to corporate with no response, I have decided to post my review: My husband and I are avid travelers, both nationally and internationally. We have utilized and booked with numerous companies and establishments. Norwegian came highly recommended and we were extremely excited to try a new cruise line. The lack of communication, organization and customer service on the Norwegian Pearl was very disappointing and honestly ranked as the worst trip our family has embarked on. We have traveled to many countries and states and understand that there are always glitches while traveling. However, our experience on the Norwegian Pearl was inexcusable. Our family recently set sail on the Norwegian Pearl, with a departure date of 12/23/2018 to celebrate after a long journey that consisted of numerous spinal surgeries due to a car accident in August 2015. We thoroughly researched all cruise lines and held high expectations that Norwegian would provide us with a vacation experience with lasting memories and excellent customer service. Our expectations, regarding the hospitality provided by onboard restaurants and room stewards were met and even went above and beyond our expectations. O’Sheehan’s manager and employees were outstanding and provided us with top notch service, on a daily basis. Jose, our room steward took excellent care of us and our cabin was always clean and turned down in a timely manner each evening. Indigo’s service was exceptional, and the food quality was top notch, along with the wait staff. The rest of our vacation experience was disappointing, as there were numerous issues regarding communication, the customer service desk, and onboard entertainment. As we arrived in ports each day, there was little to no communication regarding arrival times. The Pearl was late arriving into each port, with the exception of the Grand Cayman Port of Call. We had booked excursions in each port and were disappointed in the process to disembark the ship at each location. There were long lines in the hallways each morning with no communication as to when the disembarkation process would begin. Once there was an announcement, the process was disorderly, with passengers pushing and forcing their way off the ship, due to time constraints. Norwegian overbooked the excursion we were on in Harvest Caye with an allotment of 33 people vs. the large crowd that had pre-booked. Our family was able to complete this excursion, while many others were left onshore with no option. The process to receive tender tickers in the Bliss Lounge was an absolute nightmare. The morning we were scheduled to arrive in Honduras, we were told to pick up tender tickets, if we had booked independent tours, at 7:30. Our family arrived early, to ensure we were in the first group. Passengers began lining up around 7:00 am. There were zero Norwegian employees in sight to help organize the line. The Norwegian employee did not show up to the Tender Ticket desk until 7:35. The absentness of an employee created anxiety and chaos for passengers, as individuals were aggravated and clearly angry. Once our tender tickets were secured, we once again lined up to disembark in Honduras, as that process should have begun at 8:00. There were zero announcements with updates regarding the boat arriving late or disembarking several hours later. Once the announcement was finally made for Group 1, around 10:30, there was a mass exodus of passengers. Norwegian employees did not collect the tender tickets and the process was disorderly. It made no difference what tender group number individuals were assigned to, as everyone was allowed to exit at the same time. We were told that the last tender back to the Pearl would be at 3:00 and were forced to cut our excursion in half. Imagine our disappointment when we arrived back to the ship, only to watch the tendering continue through 5:30. The next day (Grand Cayman), our family knew that we had to arrive to the Bliss Lounge early, to once again pick up our tender ticket. Once again, there was not an employee in sight upon our arrival in the lounge. However, there were passengers that were in a verbal altercation due to someone cutting in line. Once an employee arrived (earlier than the stated tender pick-up time), they began handing out the tender tickets, prior to the stated time. The Pearl arrived in Grand Cayman earlier than the stated time and once again, there was no communication. Once the announcement was made for Group One, there was again chaos, as all passengers, no matter what group number they were assigned to, were able to exit. Onboard entertainment options for our children was disappointing, as it was extremely limited. Shuffleboard sticks were broken, the bowling alley was only open limited times, and the arcade package was outrageously priced. We were unable to secure pool deck chairs, as towels were placed on the lounges with no monitoring. Prior to the cruise, I had researched the arcade and bowling alley and the prices advertised were completely different than what we were charged on board. Bowling was $7.00 per person and one lane was broken down the entire cruise. When I had called on pricing prior to the cruise, I was informed it was $5.00 per person for bowling. In order to purchase the arcade package, we were informed that every member of our family would have to buy the package, not just our children. We would have been forced to pay for the arcade for two adults, that had no interest in the package, and therefore decided not to purchase. The customer service desk was extremely disorganized and each time we visited, employees provided us with different answers as to why our onboard credit was not applying to our account balance. We literally had to visit the customer service desk after each onboard purchase we made, to have them manually apply it. This was extremely frustrating, as we spent hours waiting in line, just to have the onboard credit applied appropriately. Our first experience sailing with Norwegian Cruise Line was extremely disappointing. The lack of communication on the ship by the cruise director, Jodie and her assistant, Tiara caused confusion and chaos at the ports. The lack of updates regarding arrival times at the various ports and poor leadership in the disembarkation process at ports caused significant delays and anxiety among cruise passengers. Employees not being present at the tender ticket area in the Bliss Lounge created an environment of angst, where passengers proceeded to engage in verbal altercations. The lack of training at the customer service desk, caused an immeasurable loss of cruising time for our family, as we were forced to visit the desk numerous times, due to billing issues. This cruise should have been a once in a lifetime celebration for our family. Instead, it was memorable for its disorganization and lack of communication. There were far too many delays, that were not communicated, along with a highly chaotic scene for disembarkation at all ports of call. Leadership starts with the top and was lacking from the moment we boarded the ship, until we disembarked in Tampa. Read Less

Drinks were good. But drink package is ridiculously expensive. The ports made our trip enjoyable. Although everyone port except harvest key was only shopping unless you take a 30 min cab. This is our 5th time cruising, 1st and last with Norwegian. Without getting into the small details, we were unhappy with the following. The Norwegian staff, while there are plenty that are pleasant and helpful, there are others that are neither and unfortunately we encountered more of the unpleasant/unknowledgable. From the time we booked the cruise, to making dinner reservations, the onboard checking process and just getting general information was all difficult, which meant standing in more lines and having to straighten things out. The internet service is the absolute worst than any other cruise, I don't mind paying the outrageous charges to get internet, but they should provide the infrastructure to support those charges. The nickel and diming is more extreme on the boat, one example is that other lines allow you to bring sealed water bottles, Norwegian does not. So to get 12 1 liter bottles we had to pay $45 plus tax and gratuity. That just isn't fair. Communication throughout the ship was lacking. The food is fair to average and the service is not the same as the other cruise lines. The buffet was fine, but the dinner meals in the restaurants were rarely good. We are making the best of the cruise, since getting away and seeing great places has been fun, but for those that haven't experienced Norwegian should try other options, including carnival and royal Caribbean which both have better service, food and atmosphere. We choose this cruise for the 5 for 5 deal. However, the 5 is deceiving. Yes, 1 is drinks but during a deal as that, there are very long lines to try to get a drink so you end up just giving up most of the time. 2 is WIFI which doesn’t work most of the time and only 1 person can be on from your room at a time. It would take over 30 minutes to try to download your mail when you could get WIFI. 3 Shore excursions only counts for a total of $50. Off per stop which the shore excursions have gone up in price. You are better off going on your own which I saw more guests do this time. 4 Dining, it was nice overall but very difficult to get a reservation. I would suggest making those when you book or you will never get in one if the speciality restaurants. To further explain our 1 raring...first lunch in garden cafe, industrial staple in my pasta salad. They really didn’t seem to care about that. Service from host to bartenders were rude overand over again. Tables not cleaned off in a timely manner, ran out of coffee during breakfast twice, Getting off the boat to leave was a nightmare. Were told by front desk we had to leave our suitcase out the night before. No other way yet the following morning, not the case. It was a mess and still received bad information. Bottom line, even though we have cruised with them 9 times before, will never go again. Their staff from the top down needs training or they will keep losing customers. Read Less

Beware the mini suite cabins on this ship - overpriced standard balcony cabins. We had 11166 which was directly below the Garden Cafe-- the screeching on chairs on the tile floor above our cabin went on daily from at least 6am until 11pm. So loud we couldn't sleep or even hold a regular conversation in the cabin or on the balcony. Reported the noise issues to Guest Services even before sailing-- we were told by the supervisor that there was nothing they could do and later they sent us a form letter to that effect. Onboard Guest Relations staff was good for nothing other than to print your account summary. They were not willing to try to resolve any issues while onboard, stating that you need to call NCL Guest Relations after the cruise. I did just that and was told by Guest Relations (after 40 minutes on hold to reach a human) that I had to go online and put my concerns in writing, even despite having 5 different case numbers for cases the staff opened while we were onboard. I then asked for a supervisor and was told none was available (after another 10 minutes on hold). Upon insisting, I was transferred to a supervisor's voice mail-- left a voice mail and three days later, I have still heard nothing. Nor have any of the cases opened by onboard Guest Services and sent to NCL Guest Relations been addressed in any way with us. Staff in the Venetian dining room would disappear for long periods of time. Service in Aqua was good the first time we went there for dinner, but lousy slow the second time. We did try four of the specialty restaurants since we had a package which included them-- good experiences in the specialty restaurants, but not sure I'd pay their prices if we hadn't had the package. We had the ultimate beverage package which of course doesn't include water (you must purchase water packages in addition). However, this ship was completely out of Malbec wine and the staff told my husband that they'd been completely out of it for 2-3 cruises now. Same situation when he tried to order Ice wine-- none to be had. Disappointed that our itinerary was changed to skip the port in Colombia. We have cruised on NCL several times and usually have had reasonably good experiences with them. The Dawn was a disappointment both in accommodations and in service levels. Read Less

(1) we chose the dawn because we live in the tampa bay area and were looking for a cruise to celebrate our 57th wedding anniversary and to enjoy 10 days away. we have platinum status in the latitudes club, but were denied priority boarding (an attendant said that they were not providing that today ?).this caused us to have to wait in the unbelievable long lines for two hours to embark the ship. disembarking dawn was equally as unacceptable....it took us another two hours to disembark in tampa. (2) the ship was said to have been extensively refurbished, and some of the public areas reflected that, but not the individual cabins. the seating throughout the ship was very uncomfortable, even the chaise lounges out on the promenade deck had no armrests and were so low to the deck that it was difficult to get in and out of them. no individual deck chairs were provided, and there were no more that a dozen chaise lounges on either the port or starboard side available at any time....the carpet in the cabin was filthy; we were not even provided with a chair, or sofa in the cabin....they only provided a round dangerous upholstered stool for the vanity. the mattresses are horrible,, definitely needing replacement. (3) dining was mediocre on dawn at best. the garden café (the buffet) proved to be the best choice. as platinum latitudes members we attempted to dine in la cucina on our 57th anniversary. I had made the required reservation, received confirmation from the reservation desk and we appeared for check-in at 7:15 pm for a 7:30 pm reservation. when we were at the desk before being taken to for our table, the manager and his clerk asked for our "voucher". i presented them with the "confirmation" that had been provided at the restaurant reservation counter on deck 7. they refused to seat us, saying they had to have the "voucher".....apparently ncl has changed their specialty restaurant policy since we sailed trans-atlantic on ncl jade in 2017. the "manager" at the restaurant would make to exception, even though he knew we were "platinum" latitudes members. i was forced to return to my cabin to hunt for these "vouchers"....i finally found them, but we did not return to la cucina that night! the whole incident ruined our 57th wedding anniversary dinner! (4) entertainment was poor, with the exception of a couple of shows in the stardust theatre. and also dawn has eliminated complimentary steam and sauna in the fitness center. to use those facilities, cruisers are now required to pay $199.00+ per person per cruise. (5) service by the steward was acceptable....and it should be, as ncl now automatically places $13.99 per person, per day on your account as a service charge! i could have adjusted it, but wanted to make sure that the steward was not "stiffed" by ncl. (6) no comment on the ports and excursions; we have done 48 cruises in total, and have seen all those ports and islands many times. In closing, my wife nor i would not cruise on the ncl dawn or any other ncl ship departing from tampa in the future! Thank you for the opportunity to express my opinion in reviewing this ncl cruise. We liked the length of this cruise, ten days, and the convenience of sailing out of Tampa. Our penthouse suite was a treat and provided all the space and handicap equipment we needed. Our butler Henry was a gem, predicting and meeting our every need. The NCL Dawn is a beautiful ship, hardly recognizable after the recent remodeling. We had breakfast room service 9 out of 10 mornings and loved it. The beverage package was well worth the money for us, because dinner drinks and poolside drinks can really add up over 10 days. The shows were crowded, except on Super Bowl night, but they offered a nice variety of music and acts. Harvest Caye was clean and modern, as was the port side market area in Costa Maya. Vendors were a bit aggressive in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Cozumel has lots to see and do. Grand Cayman is a tender port, so it’s unavailable to wheelchair users. There were four couples in our group, and we all felt the dining rooms did a great job accommodating our group and serving us a variety of fine meals. Read Less

Sailed on the Norwegian Dawn for 11 nights on 1/28/18 in a balcony cabin. We are frequent cruisers and are NCL Gold status in their Latitudes program. I'll make this short and sweet because I don't want to even have to think about cruising with them after the past two experiences. We don't usually eat in the MDR because food quality has suffered greatly in the past years. Just when we thought it couldn't get any worse..............it's a shame what they think they can pass off for MDR food any longer. Staff seemed sullen and acted like they were miserable. Even cabin attendants were never smiling or acted like they wanted to take care of you. They nickle and dime you for EVERYTHING !! It's laughable. The ship was dirty and you hardly ever saw anyone actively cleaning common areas. If you have been on other cruise lines such as Princess or Celebrity, you folks know what I'm talking about. They are constantly cleaning and picking up all over the ship. Embarkation and disembarkation went OK and fairly smoothly. To add insult to injury, we had a family vacation planned in September and had booked six cabins on the Pearl. To make a very long story short, they cancelled our cruise and offered the following, and no I'm not making this up. -A 10% discount on a nine night cruise over the same time period. That was a total lie. The nine night cruise never existed !! -A $25 dollar onboard ship credit on any other sailing. This is totally unacceptable behavior from a large, publicly traded company. I am an executive at an airline (Alaska) and it is simply unimaginable that we would ever treat our passengers like this if we had to cancel a flight. NCL had an almost identical itinerary going out one day earlier than the cruise that they cancelled on us, but refused to even consider moving us over to that sailing even though they acknowledged that the ship had plenty of room to move over to. That cruise also left left from the same port as our cancelled cruise. We are all upset and have to talked to various executives throughout the company and they refuse to budge !! Luckily, we can all talk with our pocketbooks and have reached out to a consumer advocate agency. Read Less

The ship was totally under staffed The food which you had to wait for wasn't worth waiting for. Cold most of the time. The bartenders or lack there of were rude and acted as if they didn't want to be doing their job. It took until 1300hrs to get our cabin made up on a daily basis. The staff allowed intoxicated men to continue to harass families while trying to have a quiet evening and listen to the performers. This was brought to staff members attention the first night of the cruise. There wasn't anything for the teenage passenger to do besides the pool area. When a staff member was asked a question they had no answers. On the plus side the cabins themselves were nice and had plenty of room. The gift shop staff was helpful and seemed to enjoy helping the customers. However the gift shop prices were a little high. In conclusion I would not recommend the ship to my friends or family. We decided to take a family cruise, and planned this for almost a year. The excitement quickly turned to disappointment, as each day there were little things that just added to the aggravation. There wasn't any place on the ship except for the casino that you could be away from children. Apparently, the youth programs were not good so the children stayed out for the trip. The club was open to children, and there were several observed drinking as well. This was reported, but nothing was done. Bingo was open to children and they were even given free cards to play and could win the money prizes - even though they played for free. Karaoke was nothing but a children's show as well. Very disappointed that there were no activities that were adult only. The only bright spot of this trip was that we had a large enough group that we created our own fun. If not for that, we would be very upset at the money we paid for this trip. Dinner reservations were messed up every night, there was no communication about amount of "hold" placed on credit cards, Communication App that we paid to use did not work half of the time, and I could go on with all of the things that were wrong. Again, nothing major but just so many little things that kept the aggravation going up until the end. There were many people on this ship with the same feeling, as that seemed to be the subject every time we were sitting talking with other folks. I hope that this was just a fluke, as we really enjoy cruising - but will never go on this ship and probably not on this cruiseline again. Read Less

I've been on Royal Caribbean, Carnival and Princess...this is the worst ship I've ever been on. Casino needs to be updated..slots need to be loosened up. Food on the buffet was the same everyday..and it was cold and dried out. Very disappointed. Going on the Allure of the Seas the 23rd of this month...that's a luxury cruise. Getting a drink from the bar was like pulling teeth. Not enough bartenders, and not enough bars open at a time. Went to see the comedian, got what we thought were good seats until people started coming in and stood in front of us, not very organized. Extremely disappointed with the ship, not worth the money we paid for it. Never will I ever go on Norwegian cruise line again!! Read Less

The service was terrible, we were delayed in port for 6 hours, delayed even getting on the ship. Waited for over an hour to get drinks as the electronic card service was broken. They were working on the ship right above the eating area and sand, paint and dirt was flying in our food. Couldn't get near the pools or hot tubs as they were packed. If you didn't make reservations for dinner, you were waiting for over an hour to eat. Instead of free styling, we called it a Free for all. Our cruise was then shorted again on the back 6 hours due to they wanted to get back early to unload as ship was going to dry dock for refurbishing. So, the casino and duty free shops were not open on the first day and they closed at 10pm on the last day so they could get into port at 2am. This was the worst cruise I have ever been on. Never could find a clean table, the last day couldn't find any ketchup. Heard so many complaints from other passengers. So we were shorted on our cruise but still paid full price. What a rip off! Once on the ship the bars were under staffed and had to wait in a line to get a cocktail. We were charged taxes for all of the drinks we had before the ship left the dock. Through out the cruise there were not enough bartenders and the majority of the bars did not open until 5:30pm. The food at the buffet was disgusting and it was difficult to get reservations in the dinning rooms. No fault of the cruise line, but it was spring break and there were a lot of drunk college kids. It was like being on a episode of girls gone wild. Getting off the ship was just as bad. The cruise was not well organized and the majority of the staff seemed unhappy and overwhelmed. Read Less

This boat is supposable getting renovated and it needs it. We were delayed due to fog for about 6 hours so we didn't get to go to key west. We went to Cozumel for 2 days on our 5 day cruise. They were tearing down the slide and shut down the pool. We sooo enjoyed the sound of construction equipment while laying out next to a dumpster. I also loved purchasing a beverage package and waiting 45 min at a bar because there were no waiters to be found. There didn't seem to be many activities going on and our kids were bored. The last day at sea we stayed in the room and watched the same 5 movies they played the whole trip because it was cold. The staff seemed to speak very limited English asked questions and couldn't get answers because they couldn't understand us. We couldn't get off the boat fast enough. Read Less

Gosh, where do we begin? This cruise was selected for friends and family, a party of 10 (5 cabins), as a post holiday season celebration. Many of us are seasoned travelers, including cruisers, and everyone one of us was extremely disappointed with this cruise and NCL's lack of ability to satisfy our many complaints. First off, MAJOR CONSTRUCTION was being conducted on the pool deck for the entire cruise. There was a commercial dumpster on the pool deck, which should have been our initial warning. The pool deck had two pools; an adult only pool, and a family pool with a slide. Unbeknownst to the guests, NCL decided that they would disassemble the slide during our cruise. This required draining the family pool, major construction noise, much debris all over the deck, scaffolding, jack hammering, etc. The pictures speak volumes! Trying to use the pool deck, with one smll pool and very little room for pool chairs, was simply dangerous and stressful. We were traveling with friends whose son is seven years of age. There was no option for his ability to swim as the only pool was for adults only. Very few pool chairs fit on the deck leaving 2500 passengers to share few chairs and one overcrowded and noisy pool. Many parents allowed their children in the adult only pool, often filled with intoxicated adults, and inappropriate language, leaving many adults and families upset because of no other options. This was apparently scheduled, due to a large construction dumpster on deck, and took the entire length of our cruise. Also, we were delayed approximately eight hours leaving the Port of a Tampa due to weather conditions. While this delay was due to weather issues, it resulted in our missing our first Port of Call, Key West. While waiting to leave, we were taxed on every drink under the ultimate beverage package. This of course was no fault of NCL. NCL decided to add an additional day to our other destination, Cozumel. Now mind you, the casino was closed during our Tampa delay, and now, two full days in Cozumel. When we returned to Tampa, we encountered rough seas and were informed that we would arrive in Tampa the evening before scheduled. This of course meant the casino would again be closed at nine p.m., and we would be again taxed on our onboard purchases for another whole evening. We were not allowed to disembark until the following morning as we had not cleared customs. In addition to the MAJOR CONSTRUCTION, we were improperly told that the second pool would reopen during the cruise. This never happened. The Splash Acdemy is the kids program onboard. The lines to drop off and pick up your children were often a twenty to forty minute wait during peek times. This procedure should have been much more efficient, but was simply understaffed or poorly managed. We also had a problem with our commode in our stateroom, that was clogged and unflushable for more than eight hours after reporting to our cabin steward. We had to call a supervisor to step in to ensure that it was functioning prior to retreating for the evening. The last cruise I traveled on was the beautiful NCL Getaway in September 2015. I never wrote a review because I contracted Norovirus and was quarantined for half of that sailing. So this now leaves me with only two NCL sailings, both of which were horribly disappointing. For some positive thoughts, we all had the upscale dining package and really enjoyed teppenyaki and the French restaurant, the name escapes me. Also, the food on board is of very good quality, even in the buffet. The spa also delivers a very professional and relaxing experience. Our excursion in Cozumel was to Xcaret. This is a must do for anyone who has not yet visited. Such natural beauty surrounding you, spectacular! Our embarkation also went smoothly and quickly. I attribute this to being a member of Latitudes. Our entire party boarded together and had priority boarding. To summarize this vacation....we were certainly not provided the level of experience that we were sold. In fact, I am shocked that NCL allowed a ship to sail under these conditions. We were all provided claim numbers to contact their corporate office. I will be doing so next and will be anxious to hear if there is any remedy offered by NCL. I HAVE ALSO CONSIDERED DISPUTING MY CREDIT CARD PURCHASE AS WE PAID FOR SOMETHING THAT WAS NOT DELIVERED. I don't complain or write negative reviews, but am doing so to warn others of an expense that was nowhere near worthy of incurring. In fact, when I took pictures to submit to NCL for my "claim," at least ten others were walking around the deck doing the same. What a sincere disappointment. Now, I will research the site to see if I can upload any pictures. Read Less

Choose the Norwegian Jade for a twentieth anniversary cruise. Have cruised numerous times in the past but never with Norwegian and thought we would give it a try, seemed like a fair price. Ship was nice enough and stateroom was what we expected. Then it begins... upon touring the ship we noticed a large green waste management shipping container on the upper pool deck. We assumed this was to offload supplies. Embarkation day was clear and weather was great. At the beginning of the sail away party we were notified we would not be leaving on time due to fog? We went back to our stateroom balcony and noticed divers on the starboard side of the ship which we assumed was routine maintenance. After 7 hours of delays, casino closed and port taxes we were underway...in the heaviest fog I have ever seen. You could not see the Sunshine Skyway as we passed under it except for the lights on the bottom. No big thing, make the best of it. Later that night we were advised we would not make port in Key West due to time, not a big thing we live in Florida. So we decided to go to the pool where the construction dumpster remained closing one side of the upper pool deck. There was no wait service on the upper deck and all traffic was funneled through the deck chairs on either side. Then CONSTRUCTION began. Not maintenance, they were literally dismantling the waterslide and closed the kids pool to do so. Jackhammers and impact wrenches all day long. After waiting at the bar 45 minutes for a drink we said enough pool. Decided to sit on one of the decks and struck up a conversation with a crew member who advised we did not leave due to divers making repairs under the boat not fog. Being from the area imagine we missed the tide to make it under the bridge. We also decided to sign up for unlimited wifi to conduct some business back home. Waste of money, after 3 trips to the wifi supervisor we could not access any way to reach kids at home. He advised it must be a phone issue not wifi issue. Cruise director MIA all day although entertainment was good. Norwegian did decide to make port early in Cozumel for 2 full days in port. Again no Casino and duty free shop closed. Went ashore and amazingly our phones worked great on a corner taco stands wifi?!?! Again day 2 cruise director MIA unless they were collecting money for something. Saturday was NFL playoff day. A group of us that had met on the boat set up for the games after verifying numerous times that the game would be on a specific tv. Game time comes and we are told they need to contact the bridge to change the channel...WHAT, you have to call the guy that drives the boat to change a channel. Never saw that crew member again, another comes over and says its only a Spanish tv. So a member of our group goes to his room, grabs the remote and comes back and changes the channel so we can watch the game. Same day and weather was not great so they had some indoor activites (lucky since there was only one pool) Karaoke in the lounge, except the machine would not work. Deal or no deal in the theatre, except that broke halfway through and they had to refund everyones money. Then we were told we needed to make port 9 hours early to "make repairs to the underside of the ship" (remember the divers!) So again no casino, no duty free shopping and port taxes on drinks. During this adventure I approached guest relations on Friday to speak with a supervisor about my concerns. I was told there was no supervisor on duty but to call first thing Monday morning to address with corporate headquarters. Which I did and spoke to a very ignorant representative who advised she could not help me that all complaints must be in writing. Advised her this was not what was said on board but followed through. 15 business to reply to 2 page email about issues and it was a form letter!!! Left numerous messages for customer service supervisors with no response. Tried again today and waited over 30 minutes to get the voicemail of the supervisor. Decided to call booking and see if I could get through this way. Amazingly they answered the phone in 30 seconds. Sounds to me like a lot of complaints and not many new sailers. If Norwegian Cruise line would have addressed any of these issues in a timely manner I would have been willing to give them a second chance. However with their lack of customer service, the crews out right dishonesty and the lack of follow up on my complaint I will not be taking or recommending a Norwegian trip. Your money is much better spent on Carnival or Royal Caribbean. Read Less
