1-10 of 146 Alaska Norwegian Sun Alaska Cruise Reviews
Just completed 20 days on the sun from Seattle to Fl. First off we had a penthouse i bedroom rear facing suite on the 10th floor that had a very large deck with two chairs and two loungers with thick and comfortable pads. The room was ok - the shower wad small to fit the 6 foot tub. The living room needed an extra chair and bigger table for eating on but we just bough in a deck chair. The bed was ...
This was our first cruise and we had a fantastic time on this smaller ship.
The ship was easy to navigate in my husbands manual wheelchair, with issues only happening a handful of times. I would suggest reservations for non-buffet restaurants for wheelchair users due to the limited space between the tables and chairs in most dining rooms. The downside to the dining rooms will be that you will ...
My best friend did the research and found the Sun for us. This was my first cruise so I enjoyed it if for no other reason than everything was new to me. My friend and I met in first grade and have been besties for 64 years. I loved the size of the ship and exploring all the different areas. I had always heard the food on cruise ships was delicious, but for the most part, that was not true on ...
We sailed from Seattle up into Alaska on an eleven day cruise. My husband, our 38 year old son, and I stayed in an inside cabin on deck nine. It was the largest ship board cabin we have ever stayed in. It was so nice to be able to stretch out and not have to be cramped into upper bunks. I was disappointed by the lack of onboard entertainment/shows on the Sun. We have traveled with Carnival in the ...
I chose the cruise for the price, ports of call and schedule.
FOOD
Buffett - Good selection, cheaper items closer and featured more towards the front. 7.5 out of 10
No sweet and low after first two days, yet it was available in other places aboard ship???
Specialty - Italian - Two great meals, filet with blue cheese and lasagna. Red snapper was horrible - dry, tasteless and not ...
We chose this cruise because of the many ports visited which larger ships cannot provide. The NCL Sun was nicely refurbished a couple of years ago and it shows. Nevertheless, it is an older ship without the latest technology onboard. Internet is rather slow, and they still take food orders manually. Cabins are not spacious as the newer ships. Public areas smaller than new ships.
Being a ...
I wanted a cruise that went to Glacier Bay and multiple ports. This was an eleven night cruise which gave us plenty of time to explore the ports and relax on the ship. The crew were friendly and I liked the entertainment staff. This is an older ship that does not have many bells and whistles and it seemed to attract an older crowd. It is a small ship and that made it easy to get off and on at ...
Overall, the cruise was enjoyable. However, the obvious theme of cost cutting continues at NCL. The most egregious example was the “Ketchikan” port call, which was actually to Ward Cove. Rather than actually docking in Ketchikan, the ship docked at a sketchy industrial port about a 20 minute drive away and transported guests in equally sketchy school buses to town. Upon arriving in town, guests ...
Got lucky with great weather aside from rough seas the first couple of days. Glacier bay was amazing as was Mendenhall.
The NCL Excursions were hit and miss with our favorites being the hikes in tongass firest and mendenhall. Icy point straight tram ride was not worth it. Oyster farm in ketchican was good, but didn't see any sealife (which as highlighted in tour description).
Food was as ...
This was our second Alaskan cruise, which meant we anticipated a certain amount of rainy weather. The greatest positive is that with the exception of one day, and this was a 9 day cruise, the weather was absolutetly spectacular. This cruise was one of the first since cruising has revived post covid. There were a few reminders on this cruise of that fact. To the best of my knowledge, there were ...
