We have been travelling NCL 4 times before, Very happy with the cruises. NOT THIS TIME.
First the good things.
we were lucky with the weather in Alaska
our Butler, Housekeeper, and Consierge were all fantastic and so was the staff at Cagney.
Food:
the food in the commen areas was bad - very bad. Even the Bistro was far behind of what we are used to - due to this we ate 3 times at ...
We chose this cruise due to the deal they offered, never thinking it was so poor. The video advertising is miss leading to say the least.
First, the food was less than mediocre. it was clearly an effort to cut corners.
The cruise population was overwhelmingly made up of elderly with walkers, scooters, canes and the feeble. with activities directed to the elderly such as bingo.
The ...
We boarded the Norwegian Sun in Seattle and sailed up the west coast of Canada and USA to Alaska. The scenery was amazing and we stopped at several interesting towns with small communities on route as well as the impressive glaziers flowing into the sea. We travelled on the White Pass and Yukon Railway which followed the route from the coast up towards the Klondike taken by the prospectors during ...
This was our very first cruise and may be our last. We do NOT care for crowds at all and this entire experience was nothing but one crowded mess. How anyone finds standing in endless lines, being herded like cattle, and cramped up like sardines fun and enjoyable is beyond me. We went on a cruise as it was the only practical way for us to tour the Inside Passage of Alaska. We do not fly on ...
We chose this cruise because of the many ports visited which larger ships cannot provide. The NCL Sun was nicely refurbished a couple of years ago and it shows. Nevertheless, it is an older ship without the latest technology onboard. Internet is rather slow, and they still take food orders manually. Cabins are not spacious as the newer ships. Public areas smaller than new ships.
Being a ...
I wanted a cruise that went to Glacier Bay and multiple ports. This was an eleven night cruise which gave us plenty of time to explore the ports and relax on the ship. The crew were friendly and I liked the entertainment staff. This is an older ship that does not have many bells and whistles and it seemed to attract an older crowd. It is a small ship and that made it easy to get off and on at ...
Overall, the cruise was enjoyable. However, the obvious theme of cost cutting continues at NCL. The most egregious example was the “Ketchikan” port call, which was actually to Ward Cove. Rather than actually docking in Ketchikan, the ship docked at a sketchy industrial port about a 20 minute drive away and transported guests in equally sketchy school buses to town. Upon arriving in town, guests ...
We joined a group of friends on this 11 day Alaska cruise. We have done several Alaska cruises and it is a favorite of ours. Most of our group had never been on a cruise before and/or had never been on an Alaska cruise. NCL started on the wrong foot. This was the ships first cruise to Alaska in 2023. They had just come off a bad stretch where the ship lost power and had other problems. After ...
cost effectiveness
The Sun is an old ship, the room was adequate size, although the beds were old and we had to ask for additional padding for the mattress which helped some. During the night they turned the AC up, and the room became warm. It was warm all over the ship. the rooms have plenty of storage.
Verry poor food quality, and buffet line was also the passage walkway which caused ...
Very disappointed with NCL on our latest cruise. The ship was dated, should have done our homework on this ship first, yes our fault but not only that the ship broke down in Colombia, no electric which meant no air con, extremely hot in Columbia! We had to stay in port overnight but 2 full days there! Was allowed off the Ship but nowhere to go, no shuttle buses were put on, Columbia a bit of a ...
