Gem is a smaller ship and was ill equiped for a Xmas- NYE+ cruise. We never left the port of Manhattan for 2 days , one for "high waves" and the other because the NY Port Auth. said we couldn't. ( not sure that was true but I degress).

We took a 11 day christmas cruise from ny, because of weather we were stuck in ny for two days before departing. No fault of ncl. We always wanted to cruise Panama Canal and were excited about the itenerary. We are long time NCL cruisers but oir experience fell below our seasoned expectations. We have always loved NCL.

EMBARCATION - Very efficient. We were scheduled for 10:30 - 11:00 AM and arrived on time. Went upstairs and there were at least 20 clerks to check us in. There was only 1 person in front of us.
