We cruise often and have mainly stayed with Norwegian so we have achieved some status that adds a few perks. This was an amazing itinerary mainly to see Antarctica and that did not disappoint. It should be on everyone's bucket list.
The good -
We like the size of the Star. Not a mega ship, holding about 2500 passengers.
The staff was friendly and helpful without exception.

We chose this trip because of the ship and the itinerary. We prefer the small ships because they have a more personal and intimate feel to them compared to the big ships like the Bliss, Epic, Encore etc.
The entire cruise experience was great. We had a balcony stateroom and it was very spacious and comfortable. Yes, the ship is older so the room does show some wear and tear but it was very ...
This was the second time we'd sailed on the Norwegian Sun but we enjoyed the first time more and noticed some subtle changes which had made the cruise more expensive. We like the ship because it is smaller with 2,000 guests. The State Rooms, the Dining, the Bars and the Entertainment were all excellent.
The Service in some departments however left plenty of room to improve particularly around ...
We chose this cruise because of the canal transit and the South American itinerary.
A week or so out there was a change to the itinerary, dropping the first stop in Colombia (Santa Marta), changing Panama City to Colón, and adding an extra day in Lima. I haven't seen an explanation for the change, and while the extra day in Lima instead of Santa Marta was a decent trade, Colón for Panama City ...
The crew were excellent. Most of the entertainment in the theatre were your dancers and singers Most cruise lines are reducing the levels of service and amenities provided. NCL has taken this to the extreme. There are no toiletries; no bath gowns; no chocolate on the pillow at turn-down. In fact they have no turn-down service at all. Dirty towels remain on the floor until the next day (often the ...
We had a wonderful sailing by the Antartic (Paradise Bay/ Elephant Island) The weather was amazing and we could spot lots of Fauna, ranging from penguins at a distance from many many whales Humpback and Blue really, really close. This two days were undoubtedly the highligt of an itinerary that has too many days on sea in a crowded boat that with bad weather turns on a overcrowded Garden café, ...
My husband and I spent Christmas in this amazing ship from Buenos Aires to the Antartica visiting the most beautiful places along the way. From the beginning till the end, it was an amazing experience. The staff was always respectful and resourceful giving their best to ensure their guests were taken care of. The music was unbelievable amazing as well. We are from the island of enchantment and ...
About the Reviewer: I’m a middle-aged American male who traveled solo on this, my 60th voyage. Over half of my sailings have been with NCL, however, I have sailed on other cruise lines including Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, MSC and Carnival. This cruise was my first cruise as a Diamond Latitudes member with NCL. My reviews are written in chronological order of events as they took place on the ship. ...
We booked this cruise solely because of Rio. I knew that it was an older ship, but really didn't realize the big difference compared to newer ships. There was little to do. The TV in the cabin was almost worthless. The showroom was only used for the evening show. Nothing ever during the day like lectures, movies, or anything interesting. The food was not very good. The afternoon buffet carving for ...
One week cruise from Buenos Aires to Rio de Janiero. The worst thing that happened on this cruise is as soon as we entered Brazilian waters, NCL added a 25% tax on every beverage in our so-called free beverage package. When we booked this cruise, we were not told that this would happen. That is quite an expense since 5 of our 7 days on this ship were in Brazil. NCL should of had the courtesy to ...
