14-Day South America From San Antonio (Eastbound)

Review for a South America Cruise on Norwegian Star

14-Day South America From San Antonio (Eastbound): Flight from Miami to Santiago, Chile: At airline check-in, we were surprised with a $90 a bag fee and $54 seat fee. We used Norwegian to book our flights and there was a web site on our reservation to check the baggage regulations. Our bags were under the weight and size limit. Clearly stated that for our first checked bag there was no charge. We ...

Who wants to plan their 1 cruise to South America on a ship this unreliable?

Thankfully the NCL Star didn't break down until we reached the Falkland Islands(cruise day 11), but who wants to plan their 1 cruise to South America on a ship that is mechanically this unreliable? One year ago when I saw this cruise choice my only hesitation was the ship, not the cruise line, as my family had cruised on the Star previously in 2014. Knowing that the ship died in the Tasman Sea ...

The cruise was great although the ports left a lot to be desired. I don’t understand why ncl would pick ports such as these. I loved the ship, but the ports were run down and not near anything. I took a bus into one of the towns, as soon as I got off the bus I was told by 3 local policemen it was not safe to walk around the area alone. So why would the ship bring us to such a dangerous place ?? ...

-Confusing ship with not all elevators to all decks. -Salad area of buffet limited selection. -Changed ports a few weeks prior to departure but not all guests notified. -Entertainment and music were good. -Internet cafe wide open on a balcony over a noisy area. Last evening tried to checkin for flight home but could not get online. No one available to help. -embarkation was ...

Seems like Embarkation was our initial warning. We literally stood in line for registration in the Miami Cruise Terminal for over 2 hours. The lack of concern for the passengers became the theme of our cruise. Our first two ports, which were in Columbia, were canceled before the ship even sailed. How many passengers had booked this cruise for the Colombian ports? Based on the grumbling we ...

Chose cruise based on itinerary, date and price. Our inside cabin 11579 was little more than a closet. No chair or anywhere to sit except bed. I was embarrassed as friends could not visit as No standing room either. No bathroom ammenties included and the worst toilet tissue ever, we bought our own. We felt like second class persons on this cruise while many of our friends enjoyed upgrades to ...

I just took the “Norwegian Cruise Line Post Cruise Survey;” however, the survey is centerEd around positivity of the cruise in general. This was my first cruise experience with Norwegian and it was not bad; however, the Dawn needs TONS of improvements/enhancements. My girlfriend and I stayed in cabin # 9026. We used soooooooooo much toilet paper, because of the black sooty oily looking ...

I love repositioning cruises like this one. The staff was wonderful as always except for head doctor that just provided the most expensive treatment possible to make ship money. The SPA is magnificent and the food at the Speciality restaurants was great. The main theater entertainment was spectacular while the Bliss lounge was a real downer from 4 years ago on the same ship. This time basically ...

We chose this 15-night Cruise because of the excellent itinerary and the convenience of leaving out of New York City for us. We have been on NCL many times, but not in a few years. We booked this trip about 100 days before departure, and we felt that the price was fair for three of us in an inside cabin. We paid in full at the time, and within two weeks the price dropped $200. Soon after the ...

Disappointing cruise

ship was new and beautiful. Staff seemed poorly trained, especially restaurants. 3 Main dinning rooms had very mediocre food and poor and slow service. Specialty restaurants were wonderful, great food and staff. Bars and bar staff (very well trained) were wonderful. Buffet was disappointing compared to a dozen other cruises I have been on. Rooms (mini-suite) was very nice and bathroom was ...
