Not what it used to be

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Norwegian Pearl

This is our 10th cruise with ncl and we all noticed a change for the worse with regard to customer service, dining, activities and general ship maintenance. From embarkation, which was disorganized and had 2000 people standing room only without water or chairs for two plus hours, to disembarkation, also unorganized, we found the cruise lacking from previous times. We were a party of 5 and all ...

Poor food, service, and communication

There was a lack of information provided prior to embarkation. Shortly after making the reservation, it was changed from a 15 day cruise to a 14 day and the embarkation port was moved from Los Angeles to San Diego because the Acapulco stop was cancelled. We understand that was for safety reasons, but there was no explanation for why we had to lose a day of vacation or had to alter plans to ...

Quality of services are down from previous cruises with the same company

We are returning customers. Our previous experiences help us deciding to take this trip also. Are we disappointed this time or what. Room is clean. Shows are ok. The restaurants are not what they promoted. There's no free style. No shorts. No caps, no sleeveless shirts for man but ok for women. Food is unacceptable. Some of the crew members are great. Some look down to you if you order ...

Disorganized. All prior cruises on other lines were better.

We chose this cruise due to the trip through the Panama Canal. Most of the food was mediocre with some good food at the specialty restaurants. All service staff were very congenial and helpful. Many smiles and always ready to help. Nightly entertainment was excellent. The bed gave backaches to my wife and I. Even though we saw many new mattresses loaded onto the ship and saw them in storage ...

"Is this the first time they have done this"

This was a once in a life time deal to sail to the Panama Canal and see what it was all about. We have sailed on RCL and Princess in the past. Lots of factors involved in deciding on this cruise but location, timing and price where major factors. Not sure if "price point" is where NCL fits in but I somehow thought in my mind that we were signing up for a top notch cruise and we were both very ...

This is our 6th cruise, first time with Norwegian. Staff could be bossy, intimidating and unfriendly. Unpleasant encounters during drill, at Shore Exursion desk on fifth floor, at Seven Sea restaurant and at our state room. In our past experiences with another cruise line, we became friends with staff at dinning and state room. Like other passengers, we felt the program was poor. We wish ...

My worst cruise to date

I had done this Panama Canal cruise on the Norwegian Sun in the opposite direction from Miami to Cabo San Lucas and it was wonderful. This was the 'cruise from hell' from beginning to end. The problems began in Santiago, Chile where the airport was full of scammers pretending to be helpful with badges on indicating they were airport employees there to help you when in reality there were there ...

We did not have a very good experience on board the Sun. I had ordered wine and strawberries for sailing day. They did not have them ready in our state room. I had to asked for it and that way it ruined the surprise. The wine they brought THE FOLOWING DAY was of inferior quality of the one I had purchased before through their website. When we bought the tickets through their website the offer was ...

I agree with everything that Peter W has written about this cruise. We selected it primarily for the itinerary - the chance to visit more of South America and to transit the Panama Canal - this was the highlight of the voyage. Embarkation Port: First this has been switched to San Antonio from Valparaiso due to issues with labour and port authorities; not advised directly by NCL of this. ...

NCL Sun - South America Cruise 3rd Feb 2018

Review for a South America Cruise on Norwegian Sun

User Avatar

The ship was due in for a major refit so the wonderful NCL decided it would be a good idea to start early and hammer and drilll on the roof of the largest lounge (Observation) during daylight hours.effectivily closing this area. During cold days this made other available seating in the warm areas difficult to find and what seating was available was tired and uncomfortable.. All external windows ...
