NCL San Diego to Mexican Riveria April 2023

Review for a Mexican Riviera Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

We took this cruise the week of April 16, 2023 and although we did have a good time, it was not because of anything NCL did. We had Priority Boarding and found the staff in San Diego to be very unhelpful. There was no process for explaining or assisting with Priority Boarding which we paid extra for. Seemed like it was simply a charge without any service. My wife asked a NCL representative how we ...

ABOUT MY CRUISE: SHIP/NCL - PRE-BOOKING ITEMS - DON'T DO IT. As items you book are charged diectly to your card at time of booking the item(both excursions and fixed priced dining). I had thought it would all go thru my onboard account... WRONG. So it quicly got confusing when onboard I canceled my reservation for Moderno. They had no problem canceling. But only becaused I asked, did ...

Not Bad, Not Great

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Norwegian Pearl

Chose the cruise because we could see friends and relatives in the San Diego area, sail thru Panama Canal as I have always wanted to do, and then be back home in Florida. Came in a week early to see San Diego, but there was to much too see. Pacific Ocean was choppy, and so was the Caribbean, most than usual in Caribbean. Hurricane in Pacific prevented us from stopping at Cabo San Lucas. ...

Mixed bag - some excellent ratings, others poor

I always wanted to go through the Panama Canal, its history fascinates me. I also wanted an extended cruise for a bit of "R&R". The price point was good but the on-board costs were disappointing. I feel NCL was in my pocket for every little thing.... a 1 liter bottle of Dasani was $6.60!!! Yes, $6.60 - outrageous. Kids video arcade games are $1.30 per game. Food was okay in the complimentary ...

Some good....some not so

This was our fourth time travelling with Norwegian and for the first time we came back a little disappointed. Service, food and cabin were fine but we were particularly disappointed with the entertainment on the ship. We felt the groups and singers round the ship were nowhere near as strong as others we've been on and while the "specialist" entertainers were mixed to say the least. Some were ...

Classic cruise ship in need of structural update

Cons -old cruise ship; framework inside hasn't changed -resulting from old design, passengers cannot navigate as easily as on modern ships - traveling portside corridors will not land you at the same places starboard. -soda package is a rip off. Soda will come from the bar fountain and at stations without a fountain, cans are used. However, you often get an old can (flat soda) because ...

This cruise does not sell out - book late and save $

Review for a South America Cruise on Norwegian Sun

First, the NCL repositioning cruise from San Diego to Valparaiso and then from Valparaiso to Buenos Aires does not sell out. We met dozens of people that booked the first leg - San Diego to Valparaiso the day before departure and paid under $400.00/person for a very good cabin. Then there were people who were booking the second leg from Valparaiso to Buenos Aires when we were getting close to ...

We wanted to see the south American experience. As we embarked, we had lunch at the Garden Café. We found the food to be of a very messy quality. Again as we ate breakfast and lunch we found very little variations from day to day. Too many dishes with Indian seasoning (curry). I do not understand when you have several specialty restaurants, why you have to pay extra for certain cuts of ...

Unfortunately this cruise was off to bad start as no one could board for along time & there seemed to be no organisation. Finally on board after 2 hrs. in a queue.. then no cabins were ready for a very long time. Luggage was not delivered til 8pm! In fact we went & collected 1 suitcase our selves, as it had not been delivered. No explanation as to why all these delays. Our cabin was very nice ...

OK But There Were Issues

This was our 1st cruise with NCL. I think we will likely be cruising with another line in the future. Before I go blasting away, I do want to say that for the most part, this is a nice ship with a great crew. Before we even got on the ship, we had an issue with NCL. This was supposed to be a Mexican Riviera cruise but NCL changed the itinerary to a Panama Canal transit. We had done a Panama ...
