Review of NCL Sky, from Quebec City to Baltimore, October 2023, with suggestions for port activities

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Norwegian Sky

After more than 30 years of cruising on all the major cruise lines, I now think that Norwegian Cruise Lines has become the best value in the industry, especially for those who prefer to cruise solo.  While legacy cruise lines seem hostile to singles (usually charging solos 200%, but couples get a discount on the second passenger), NCL is the opposite and offers solo cruisers regular cabins with no ...

Might have been 4 stars, but for the nightmare I experienced in the medical center (see below)

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Norwegian Pearl

We (3 couples) chose this cruise for the canada/new england/fall foliage itinerary. The norweigen pearl is in great shape and the stateroom was comfortable and adequately served (once per day.) service on board was very good, a friendly and helpful staff by and large. Meals in the main dining room were very good, as was the specialty restaurant, la cucina. I didn't enjoy the teppanyaki dining: ...

Not impressed.

This is our first cruise with NCL (not counting a charted NCL cruise many years ago). I am sorry to say we are disappointed. The food selection in the Garden Cafe (the main dining room) was limited and basically stayed the same throughout the 7 day cruise. The qualify of the food is also mediocre. We tried all the complementary restaurants as well and found the same thing with regard to food ...

Mixed feelings about NCL Joy

Norwegian had the itinerary we wanted! We had not cruised on a ship holding 4000 passengers before & wanted to see for ourselves what it would be like. The Joy has lots of things to do onboard and we never really felt crowded even though the ship was full. Sailing during Hurricane Lee affected our experience for sure so there were not many pool days. We missed a port day & received excursion ...

Went with family members, we had two cabins. The NCL agent had our cabins on different decks instead of next to each other. We have booked with this agent before. She said I choose the wrong deck but she knew we were traveling together. Food was just alright with the exception of the Ocean Blue, which was excellent. I got sick the first night, something did not agree with me. The ...

Ok experience but would not repeat

We chose this cruise for the itinerary - figured September in Canada would be smooth sailing with lovely foliage... um, wrong! But who can blame mother nature for giving us a hurricane in Nova Scotia in September. Ok, so forgiving the horrible weather (so grey, so bleak, and nasty waves), we give the overall cruise experience a "meh" for just ok. This was our first NCL and we felt woefully ...

Wished to see Nova Scotia and NewFoundland. Cabin was very nice except first night we had sewer gases come up in our bathroom. Guest services gave us a difficult time accommodating us to get a new room. They stated they were and are always 100% booked. The most dissatisfing part of the cruise how was the food. The complimentary dining rooms food was ordinary, tasteless and often just tasted ...

First of all our NCL agent put us on different decks. We were supposed to be next door to each other. My sister was traveling alone. We called the agent from the ship and she said we booked at different times. I don't know where the confusion came but this was a bad start. ENTERTAINMENT; We were looking forward to the show Footloose and got up early to book it ahead of time. Well on the first ...

Cruise or Prison Ship?

This was a 10 day cruise out of Quebec with stops in Sagunay, Charlottetown, Sydney, Portland, Boston, Martha's Vineyard, and ending in Baltimore. Due to hurricane Lee, we missed Sydney and Portland, then finally, on the only day that it wasn't raining, we skipped Martha's Vineyard due to "sea conditions and wind." It was a beautiful day, so now it's another two sea days. All told, in 10 days we ...

Never Again with Norwegian

We picked this cruise as it was sold as 8 ports of call with only 2 days at sea, and it ended up being virtually the opposite - 7 days at sea. Rather than stay in port along the St. Lawrence, the Captain opted to go into the Atlantic and outrun Hurricane Lee. His actions appeared to be in the sole interest of getting the ship back to Balitmore to pick up the next 2,000 guests versus prioritizing ...
