We chose this cruise for our anniversary celebration, and boy was it worth it. The VIP services were Great! The butler, concierge, and cabin steward were exceptionally helpful, courteous and professional. They made us feel important and appreciated. The ship was clean and welcoming. The only drawback was the dense smoke in casino. Suggest that a separate location for non smokers be considered. The first on/off was certainly a great perk. The Captain's cocktail hour was good and enjoyable. We're already in planning stage for our next cruise. The food was good, wait time was a little long at the 7 seas restaurant. We'll tell our friends to surely go VIP cruising and get spoiled. De-barkation was as easy as embarkation not a bad experience. All staff encountered was met with pleasantries and professionalism. Our butler Francis was very courteous and helpful attended to all our requests and desires, we wanted to bring him home!!! Read Less

We chose this cruise due to a fundraiser that fell thru. I had paid for it and decided to keep my ticket. Four other family members all veteran at cruising joined me. We had a blast. They enjoyed the drinks while I stayed with Pepsi, Water and tea. We did the Japanese Restaurant on the ship as well as the 2 main dinning rooms for dinner and the Buffet for breakfast and lunches. The private island was beautiful and very relaxing, with good food also. We went swimming with the Dolphins out of Nassau and had a blast. The walk to our meeting place was relaxing and took lots of photos. We had a photo album made from our photos and some other prints and love them all, will make great memories to hang on my wall. The staff was all very professional. I am already thinking of booking a longer one for 2021. But have to think a bit on it. Read Less

Great family and friends cruise. Food in the specialty restaurants were outstanding. Bar service was great. Stateroom service was fantastic. Stateroom was awesome. Very spacious. Free style dining was fabulous for me and our family. Plenty to do and didn’t have to do anything. Met a lot of nice people as well as the interesting ones. Beach in Freeport was fun. Family went jet skiing. Didn’t take advantage of the children’s area even though we registered and toured the area. There was so much for our grandson to do with us in Port and st the kids pool and family pool. He had a ball. It was great just knowing that service was there if we needed it. He totally enjoyed hanging with us. We celebrated his 4th birthday which was a couple days prior to our sailing. What a great time we all had. Embankment was outstanding. Luggage was in order. Outstanding process to get off the ship. Timely. Read Less

This was our first cruise and it was amazing! We had a great time. The staff was awesome. We had fresh towels twice a day, room tided up and bed made. everyone greeted us every morning and through out the day asked how things were for us. Anytime we had questions we received answers right away. Everything was super clean and very well organized. Our shore excursions were very nice and easy to book. The entertainment and activities were so much fun. Music shows, games, comedy show, and parties. When we got to the port it was so easy and quick to get through to the ship and we were instructed what to do. we had lunch as soon as we boarded and then went to our cabin. Our bags were delivered within an hour. It was such a great first cruise and we are looking at our schedule for our next NCL cruise!!!!! Read Less

His attention to detail was great and his towel animals were awesome my daughter loved to come back every night to see what he had made. Miss Emma at the buffet on the 11th floor remembered my daughters name since the first day a greeted her every morning. The food was service at the buffet and at the restaurants were great too. I only have one complaint. That my cruise was too short. All in all the cruis from beginning to end was a great experience even though we didn’t get to go to Cuba. We decided on a quick weekend trip to celebrate my wife's birthday and still keep Grandma's babysitting commitment to a minimum. The only request I received from my better half was for it to be a "very relaxing" trip. The accommodations and the staff on the Norwegian Sun made this an easy request to fulfill. CABIN: We booked Stateroom 1203 which is an owners suite that I can honestly say is worth every penny. It offers a great flow with nice furnishings and finishes. The suite has a foyer with half bath. A living room with bar, TV, dining table, work desk and a large convertible sofa and an impressive view out over the front of the ship. A private bedroom with a TV and a nice reading chair next to a slider. The master bath offers a whirlpool tub with separate shower, dual sinks and a water closet. There is also enough storage between the closet and the built ins to comfortably take a week long cruise with a family of four. I like to keep the AC cold, so my wife really enjoyed the super comfy robes. The most impressive part of the cabin is the deck (this is not just a balcony). Three sliding glass doors open up to your private oasis that is large enough for two loungers with side tables, a table for four, and a generous sized Jacuzzi. And the views are breathtaking! It does get a bit windy when fully underway but enjoy the breeze and just use a heavier cup for your cocktail. SERVICE: With the suite we received top notch service from a Concierge (Gian), Butler (Rodwin) and Steward (Manuel). I thought going into the trip that this would be wasted on us, but I can honestly say each of these gentlemen made the trip truly special. Gian (Concierge) made sure our daily plans were aligned perfectly with everything we wanted to accomplish. He had us in prime seating for shows and we were treated like VIPs at all of the dining experiences. Rodwin (Butler) was constantly yet discretely making sure that all of our details where perfect in the suite and with any room service related requests. I never had a request take longer than 5 minutes to be fulfilled. I did not have those expectation levels but I appreciated the dedication to excellence. And finally Manuel (Steward) was always pleasant to chat with and kept the room in tip top shape. He also hooked us up with nightly towel animals even though that is not standard on this ship any longer. It's the little things right?! DINING: Day 1 Lunch - Cagney's: Excellent first impressions of our trip. We were escorted to the restaurant upon check in. The food was very good and the service top notch. Day 1 Dinner - Teppanyaki: Fun atmosphere with good food overall. The highlight was the chefs with the steak coming in a close second. Day 2 Breakfast - Great Outdoor Cafe: Buffet at the aft of the ship. Same offerings as inside but smaller lines and better views. Watch out for the gulls though! Day 2 Lunch - We stayed in one of the new Villas on Great Stirrup Cay and they had a private buffet that offered a great variety of delicious food. This new area is great and will only get better as they finish building it all out. All of the staff was very friendly and seemed to enjoy being stationed out there. Day 2 Dinner - Moderno: Food was good, but overall it just didn't have the same vibe as the other restaurants. The assistant waiters were a lot of fun and they saved the experience for us. Day 3 Breakfast - Breakfast in bed (brown chicken brown cow) Day 3 Lunch - On island in Nassau Day 3 Dinner - Cagney's: Wonderful! Best food item for myself was the cheese cake. Seriously I would take this exact vacation again for another bite. Day 4 Breakfast - Cagney's: Helluva way to end a trip. Food and service did not slip one bit even though I'm sure they were already thinking about the upcoming embarkation. SHORE EXCURSIONS: Mentioned above briefly, but not to the degree deserved, are the new VILLAS at GSC. The studios are open with the larger villas still in progress. The villas offer a great view of a private beach with ample loungers, umbrellas and floats at the ready. Each offers a private bathroom with shower, a TV, table and chairs, couch, and AIR CONDITIONING!!! They also have a nice sitting area on the front porch for relaxing with your beverage of choice under the ceiling fan. Did I mention the AC? The area comes with terrific bar service and an exclusive buffet. If you need to spend a little less on chotskies for the extended family at Nassau to make your budget work with this Villa experience, then Great Uncles be damned! This is the WOW factor you were hoping for when you saw private island on the website, trust me. EXTRAS: My wife had a swedish massage on the first day which really set the tone for the trip. She also took a yoga class that she enjoyed while I slept in! Read Less

I loved the Key West stop wished it could of been longer. We had a fun beach excursion in The Bahamas. Nassau Was a little disappointing I felt like after I got off the boat too many pan- handlers and natives wanting you to take their taxi or show you around -it was a little scary I didn’t like .I was very impressed with the dining room experience and the room attendant. The food was great we went to the dinning room all our nights we had a wonderful service name David Walker fabulous! — he really made our experience in the dining room phenomenal! Super !! Also Richard Lacbayan was an awesome room attendant always greeted us with a smile and good morning and our room was always very super clean! Always asking us if we need anything! The Norwegian sun was the most amazing cruise ship. I really enjoyed the all inclusive drink package. Made everything very easy. The entertainment was great. The food was amazing. The pools were awesome. I just cannot say enough about this ship. We were originally supposed to go to key west and Cuba. After the government canceled the cruise ships going into Cuba they re-routed us to the Bahamas. We had already been to the Bahamas last year and was a little disappointed but still had a great time. The offered a full refund or you could remain on the cruise and get 50% off this cruise and the next one in 2020. I thought that was very fair on how they handled that situation. One of my favorite experiences on the cruise was the white hot party out on the deck. Everyone dressed in white and had a big party with dancing and great music. I also really liked the comedian that was featured. He was very good. The casino was also a great place to hang out as well. The staff was very nice on every part of the ship. Read Less

This cruise was supposed to go to Cuba but was diverted to the Bahamas. Cruise was great. Cruise had open bar for all (all inclusive) . Good Value and ship was very clean and had just been updated. I would go again. Dining was good including the specialty dining at the steak restaurant. Embarkation and Debarkation were the best so far of any cruise. Ship may not have been full due to Cuba cancellation. Great shore excursion in Freeport on a sailboat . Most excursions are catamaran's crammed full of people this excursion was less than 25 people on a 50' sail boat. Cabin was a balcony with a nice couch. The cabin had plenty of room. Casino was very small as compared to other ships I have seen. The ship does not cater to kids with watersides etc but the pool area was nice. Private Island was very nice and laid back. Read Less

Missed out on another sold out business related cruise stopping in Cuba as one of the ports so I decided to do this last minute booked trip solo (paid double for my interior cabin which was midship and near to guest services & all activities) since I did all the research and was intrigued by the Vinales region of Cuba for a day trip. I also needed a mental getaway and break and this was perfect as we also stopped in Key West for a day which was fun! I spent alot of time watching Youtube videos about the Norwegian Sun and others who have done the Norwegian Cuba Cruise and Vinales. Kudos to Scott Singer Cruises on Youtube as he has entire playlists on this exact cruise ship and itinerary. Great for me so I knew what to expect the entire time, even though it was a joy just experiencing it all myself. Took the GoPort shuttle from Orlando airport to Port Canaveral which cost $30 roundtrip and was effortless. Reserved & paid online then called to confirm the meeting location was next to Thrifty Car Rental in MCO along with departure time. Staff was helpful and friendly getting everyone lined up to board the bus and loading luggage underneath. Relaxing ride to Port Canaveral. I had a carryon and napsack so I didn't need to check luggage. No water allowed on the ship so you'll have to discard before going through Port Canaveral security. Be sure to print out your itinerary and proof of all payments made for prepaid gratuities, travel insurance and shore excursions so that you have printed proof to show at checkin just in case their computers aren't up to date. It's $75 for a Cuba Visa if you're getting off the ship in Havana and it's paid through the cruise line. I chose to do the all day Vinales Excursion booked through Norwegian because I didn't want to think, worry or deal with anything once I got off the ship. Price was $175 for the tour which is worth it for the experience described below and the peace of mind to just relax and enjoy the day. I also liked knowing that if anything happened I could complain to Norwegian instead of advocating for myself in a foreign country. Once I got my keycard from the friendly check in staff and walked on the ship in less than 3 minutes, I headed straight to the dining room for lunch around 1:30pm. Washed my hands and proceeded to be pampered by the staff and served lunch. All the food was delicious & of course you can order & sample as much as you want from the menu! And so I did everyday! I loved that the ship was easy for me to navigate all levels and it didn't feel crowded. There were times when I was the only person walking on deck and it was just peaceful. Would do this exact cruise again in a heartbeat. Once we got to Havana, since Vinales is an all day trip with a 2.5 hour ride out to the countryside, I got up early and had breakfast then assembled in theatre to learn which bus I need to find once outside. Staff was there to direct us off the ship through immigration to get my passport stamped. It literally took less than 5 minutes to walk off the ship, through the terminal plus immigration and then out to the bus where my wonderful guide and driver were waiting. No Delays, No Lines, No Stress! You could stop in the terminal to change U.S. Dollars to CUC but I didn't because I'm not a shopper and just wanted to savor the experience. My extremely knowledgeable & professional tour guide was Manuel Alejandro Pozo Calvo with Havanatur.cu (Havana Tours). Manny is a Professor and Highly Educated. He could field any question and give you chapter and verse on every topic. I've traveled all over the world for decades and can honestly say he's one of the best tour guides I've ever had. His knowledge and intention to make sure we had an enjoyable day and learn as much as we can in addition to having a relaxing experience was on display all day. He took us to visit a cigar roller, we sampled coffee, visited the mural, had a delicious lunch and walked around the Vinales Valley with stops along the way. We were a small group so we had the opportunity to sample different fruits, rum and cigars. We had time to stop for photos and enjoy music along the way. We had several stops and walking tours throughout the day so we weren't just sitting on the bus the entire time. From the city to the countryside we got a crash course on this beautiful country and its people. Our Transfur driver was Johnny Toledo who was also helpful and friendly. He safely and masterfully navigated the roadways and the curves in the countryside with our big bus. The bus also had a bathroom in the back which was a lifesaver throughout the day. As a professional and licensed tour guide, Manny does tours for groups from all over the world so I offered to post his email here for anyone wanting to book a Cuba Tour with a PHENOMENAL tour guide. He can be reached at MannyPozoCalvo@gmail.com. All are advised to carry toilet paper off the ship and have on hand as you tour the city. Having a bathroom on the tour bus was an unadvertised bonus as we didn't have to go searching for a bathroom and then worrying about the facilities if we did a private tour. By the time we returned to Havana, everyone on the bus got to know each other so when Manny and Johnny dropped us off back at the terminal, we decided to explore Havana on foot on our own as a small group instead of going back on the ship. We literally crossed the street and just started walking. We walked all over for a couple hours until we ended up at the Malecon then circled back to the ship. The architecture in Havana is gorgeous and though many buildings have structural issues and need renovation, there is much to see and admire. The people were friendly and we felt safe walking around. Some will approach you to engage in conversation with music. Just need to be aware that you'll likely end up being lighter in the pocket as they're engaging and entertaining. Have some dollars you're ready to part with. By the time we walked back to the ship it was dark and we just headed to dinner. Many guests were headed off the ship to get a taste of Havana nightlife since we were leaving at 6am next day and they could have fun at the Tropicana or any of the clubs outside of the cruise terminal nearby in walking distance. It was a long and exciting day and we feel that we got our money's worth between the day trip to Vinales and then freely exploring the streets of Havana. You can always pay to get in the classic cars for a ride or just admire them all as you walk around. It's incredible how resourceful the Cuban people are in using what they have to survive and thrive as tourism is the #1 export for the country. Once back on the ship, I just relaxed and enjoyed the food, music and night entertainment. The Perfect Couple game show and Comedian were particularly fun and we had lots of laughs. Once back to Port Canaveral I had breakfast before getting off the ship. I'm thrilled that I did this last minute cruise and am looking at doing the same again soon as there is so much more to see in Havana. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this to anyone who is adventurous, curious about other cultures and loves to explore. The Cuba Cruise is perfect for that. The Food, the Culture, the Music, the Architecture, the Art and the People will not disappoint. You're only allowed a maximum of 100 cuban cigars if you buy any to bring back to the United States. What I loved about going on Norwegian is that the staff was great and everything was effortless. I didn't have to think or worry about anything the entire time. Got back home totally relaxed and already plotting future cruises with Norwegian's CruiseNext Program and my Personal Cruise Planner. Enjoy your Cuba Cruise! Don't delay. Just Do It. And yes, I'd go again on Norwegian! Read Less

Enjoyed the staff they made you feel right at home. I really loved the Stirrup Cay Island it was amazing to visit. I would go back again. This was my first cruise and look forward to my next trip. The only thing I can say about the cabin was very clean. I had a hard time getting my water that I order brought to my room. Bought 6 bottles we left the port on Friday and never got my water until after 8 pm Saturday night. I was not impressed with the Cabin as we had a loud noise from I think the elevator running all time and our room was right next to it. Could not sleep was we did tell staff but the noise did not happen while they were in the room so nothing got done. Was told to call when the noise started back up *2 for service but no one answered and called over and over. Read Less

I love Norwegian. My best friend had only gone Royal Caribbean so this was a first for her. We looked at length of cruises and 4 days away we thought would be enough to rejuvenate these two working moms. This trip was amazing! First we splurged because it was just the two of us so we did not each have to pay for our family of 4. We were upgraded to the Penthouse. We upgraded with no idea what that meant besides a bigger balcony and a big bed. What we did not know was that we would be pampered beyond belief. We were met boarding by Gian, our concierge who booked everything we wanted-restaurants, shows, excursions, messages. It was amazing. Then we went to Cagneys for our welcome lunch. Our waitresses and waiters were great. I had my first drink “Ms. Universe”. The food was exceptional. We chilled there until our room was ready. Once we went to our room we could not believe this place was ours for four days -A great front of the ship balcony, huge bed, double sink, soak tub, shower, two loungers. We had a lot of room! Strawberries and cheese were waiting for us with Champagne. The next day we were going to Great Stirup Cay. We got a Villa. Our butler Rodwin met us there to show us around. Yes, our butler. We had no idea what a butler does except on Fresh Prince of Bellaire so you can imagine our surprise when we met him on day 1. Our Villa was beautiful-air conditioning, refrigerator, fresh fruit, nachos, water, coffee, tea, couch, tv, table, two covered lounge chairs and private beach and buffet area. This is a great idea for families. It was $350 total and we had $100 excursion credit and $50 extra food credit. The two of us split it to $125 each! A bigger family could absolutely split it. We splurged and got massages on the island. It was heaven. I can’t say enough about how great Rodwin was. He came anytime we called, answered our questions, left us cookies or sandwiches when we were gone and brought us fresh flowers. He also set up a full breakfast table for us 1 morning with linens. We had to waiters I Made Yesa and Mike Menanghas who were super! We also loved the music show and the comedian. We hard core belly laughed and relived the music from our childhood. If we could have hid in the closet and stayed on the ship, we just might have. Thank you Norwegian for everything! Disembarkation well organized and quick. Can’t say enough positive about this cruise. Will do again. Used our balcony quite frequently. Did not go to shows. Did not do excursions. Took a taxi to Atlantis. Did not do the aquarium at Atlantis as we thought it was too expensive. If you get upgraded liquor package go to Windjammer bar as they have nice sipping scotch. Buffet breakfast had everything you want. The only item they did not have anywhere on ship was cookies. The ship had a lot of younger clientele which was refreshing. My wife chose this cruise as she wanted to visit Havana, Cuba. We arrived the morning of departure but didn't check in at the boat until 1pm. Lines were just getting busy. They moved quickly and we were on board after about 15-20 minutes inside the terminal getting our room keys/info. Make sure to have all your paperwork/reservation info and your passports ready to go when you get in line. Once on board our rooms weren't ready. The crew onboard had set up an area within the Bliss Lounge that you could check your luggage at so you wouldn't have to drag it around with you. The crew member gave us a "receipt" for our luggage and my wife and I then walked around the ship. It was raining lightly at the time so the pool deck was closed. We found one of the restaurants and had a nice lunch. While eating lunch an announcement was made that our rooms were ready. After lunch we claimed our luggage from Bliss lounge and found our room. We were on Deck #6 towards the front of the boat. Our hallway only had 7-8 rooms on that side of it so the noise level was very low and foot traffic - none. It was a great spot. Like most ships our room was small but had enough space/storage to handle a large suitcase and a carry on case. My wife also had a large carryon purse/bag that didn't take up much space. Room was very clean and bright with our large window. No balcony. Bathroom is the only downside to these rooms. Very small, but then again you are on a ship. We ate most of our dinners in one of the main dining rooms. We didn't do too much for lunch. Breakfast we did the buffets. The food at both the buffets and the dining rooms were great. The menus in the dining rooms had a nice variety and actually had flavor. If you are a foodie and enjoy nice dinners/lunches, you won't be disappointed. Our cruise did include the free beverage package. There are a few drinks on their menu that you will see a charge for. They usually included a special cup or some other type of special offer with the drink. If you just want a beer, wine, whiskey, mixed drink, or soda, then it was included. You would think that people would take advantage of the package and just cut loose a little too much. To my surprise it wasn't that bad. You had a few that took it a little too far, but for the most part people stayed within their limits and just enjoyed their trip. Our first port of call was Key West. For some reason our ship didn't dock until 1pm. We then had to be back on the boat by 6pm. Our excursion was to start at 1:30pm, but by the time we got off the boat and to our excursion starting point, it was around 2pm. Our excursion lasted approximately 3 hours. My wife and I had basically 1 hour to shop around Key West. We would have liked more time to experience the area. Our excursion was fun though. We did the Key Lime Bike tour. Got a little hot as the weather was in the upper 80's. Our tour guide, James, was fun and full of Key West history/knowledge. The Key Lime pie at the end of the ride was great. The one thing with the Sun is there isn't a lot of night activities scheduled other than the main show. My wife and I aren't big into dancing, and we don't gamble too much. The nightly schedule would include a few couples "game show" type shows. We did watch one called the "perfect couple". Three couples would have to perform certain tasks with their spouse/significant other. It was funny and a good time. The ship also had a comedian on board that week and we caught his "clean" show and the "adult" show. Both were funny and had us in tears at one point. The next morning we were in Havana. The ship sits in the City's harbor and when you exit the pier terminal you step right out into a very busy street of Havana. There are classic cars and horse drawn carriages just waiting to give tourists rides. Some other cruisers on our boat noted that they rented one of the classis cars for a tour of the city for around $40-$50 US dollars. They said the tour lasted about an hour. Havana is not the cleanest place in the world but the atmosphere and the people were great. Old Havana was fun to walk around in. The tight cobble-stoned streets with the tropical colors of the buildings were great. We did an excursion with a company outside of the cruise and had lunch at a local restaurant along with visits to local landmarks. It was a great time. Our itinerary included an overnight stay in Havana. I think it was so the people who wanted to shell out $250 per person for the Tropicana show excursion could do so. My wife and I didn't do that one. We stayed on the ship and enjoyed a nice dinner at Cagney's Steakhouse. Again the food was great. My steak was a little over cooked, but it wasn't terrible. The cut of meat was great and they included the house steak sauce which was very good. We had a nice desert to top off the meal. Because we were celebrating a special occasion, our waitress brought out a second desert for us. The next day we were heading back to Florida. Thursday was basically a day at sea. We didn't do much other than sit by the pool and watch some of the poolside games the activity staff had going on. Would have liked to have the morning hours to explore Havana a little more. My wife and I took advantage of the early disembarkation of the ship. We had an early flight out of Orlando. The ship docked at 7am. For the early disembarkation you have to be off the ship by 8:30am. You also have to carry your own luggage off. This was not a problem given our one large suitcase and carry on bag. The exit off the ship was easy with all walking ramps down into the terminal. No stairs or other issues that would have to worry about. Overall a great trip. Would go back to Havana and Key West again. Would prefer a little more time at each stop. The ship was great and the staff was amazing. Highly recommend the Norwegian Sun. Read Less

This was our first time cruising on NCL. The crew were accessible and very helpful and friendly. In particular, there were 2 who deserve mention for stellar service and that was 2 formal diningroom staff, Eugenia Caballa and Fonollera Michei. I hope I have spelled these correctly. They provided exceptional service and we interacted with them on several occasions as we ate in the formal diningrooms mainly and the food was delicious! Enjoyed the comedian show and Rock U show. We participated in 3 shore excursions that were fun and entertaining. The beverage pkg was a welcome surprise as was the private island GSC. Beautiful place with lots to do. We also received a 10 photo package to help us remember our fabulous vacation. May was a good month to cruise as the ocean was very calm. We will definitely be back on NCL in the near future. My daughter brought her sister and myself to celebrate my 70th birthday and Mother’s Day on this wonderful cruise. We were treated like royalty and had a simply fantastic time! Our suite was spacious and our butler attentive. We tried every restaurant on the ship and sampled so many treats. The wait staff in any of the eateries was prompt and elegant. The trip to the Great Stirrup Cay was heavenly. Drinks and reading on the beach after a dip in the turquoise water. The girls had a great time snorkeling. The next day a trip to the Straw market on Nassau. Could life get any better? The pool was fun and the center of lots of entertainment. The Bliss Lounge showcased the game “Yes or No”. Even just observing allowed for lots of laughter. This was the treat of a lifetime...my first cruise but NOT my last. What a beautiful experience! Read Less

A visit to Cuba was on my bucket list. Open seating in the Seven Seas Restuarant was wonderful. The staff was very attentive especially Gretchen and Lee. I was very pleased. I went on two tours one in Key West and one in Havana, both booked through the ship. I enjoyed both. Angelia was my cabin steward and everything was clean and beautiful. Our cabin shower had a major leak and it was repaired immediately. The shows were first class. The singers and dancers were fantastc. I also liked that drinks were included. I also liked that this ship was smaller and more intimate space. I am sorry I didn't write down the names other other ientertainers not in the shows but I attended all and loved them all. The All White Night was great fun. I didn't use the fitness center only walked the deck every morning and it was peaceful. Read Less

A friend recommended a transatlantic cruise since my husband was retiring. We had not cruised in years, never transatlantic, and never been to Spain. It was a spur of the moment decision without the research I normally do on every vacation we take. When I found the time to look into it further, I was a bit concerned with some of the reviews I read of the Epic, but knew we would make the best of it especially with the deal we got for a sail away balcony. I can honestly say that we got more than we paid for with the Epic. We were in cabin 11012 which is the 4th from the front and has the total metal surround on the balcony so when sitting down you cannot see the ocean. But this blocks the strong sea breeze crossing the Atlantic. The balcony is huge and we had a chaise, 2 chairs, and a small table with room to spare. I agree with other reviewers about the configuration of the cabin being a bit odd and probably a bit tight for larger people, but it was not an issue with us. We had storage we did not use. My husband likes to use the pool and hot tub area but I like to read and watercolor in a quiet place. We were both happy with the facilities. We ate the majority of our meals in the dining rooms but did not utilize the specialty restaurants. The food was consistently good. We did eat some meals in the Garden Cafe which was also pretty good. We did not have the beverage package as we only drink a glass or so of wine daily but we did buy the wine package on board the first day. I think that is the only time it is available. We enjoyed some of the entertainment but did not bother with anything labeled “not for the easily offended.” We enjoyed meeting others on board as it was just the two of us. There were many other couples traveling alone. In short, we really enjoyed the cruise and have, in fact, booked the same cruise for next April. Read Less

I want to be clear that I am writing this from the perspective of a guest in the Haven. In fact, I had a Deluxe Owners Suite. So, I am fully aware that the negatives in this review may not be seen as negatives for other guests. I simply want to be completely honest about my experience. This was my eighth stay in an NCL Owners suite and my third on the Epic. However, this was our first transatlantic and it was 15 nights! Embarkation was easy. We got to the port several hours after boarding started and there was a very small line at security. They had a Haven check in desk which was very quiet. The agent was quick and efficient. Our butler introduced himself to us within a minute or so of check in and before we knew it we were heading onto the ship. When we got to the Haven, we decided not to go on a tour of the Haven which was led by on the assistant concierges. In the past, we’ve felt it was more important to NCL to take this opportunity to soft sell their photographers and spa services than to acclimate guests to the Haven. So, being familiar with the Epic’s Haven, we decided to go right to our room which was ready. It was probably about 1:30PM at this point. And of course, the room looked perfect! We carried on our own luggage. Yes, you read that right! We had three carryon suitcases and figured that would be enough considering we would send out two bags of laundry over the 15 days. Restaurants – The Haven Restaurant was very good. The staff was superb. In fact, it was the best staff I have ever encountered in an NCL restaurant and that is really saying something because I think the restaurant staff quality on NCL is excellent. The menu in the Haven Restaurant is the same every night, although there was an additional item each night that was not on the menu (we were told this was because of the length of the cruise). Despite the small number of menu selections, the food was very good. I must single out a couple of servers from the stellar group. Ineul and Ketut were professional, pleasant, knowledgeable (and I could go on and on) people. This restaurant is complimentary for Haven guests. A Haven guest can bring a non-Haven guest at a cost of $35. No reservations are needed and it’s open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We also visited Cagney’s, Le Bistro, La Cucina. My favorite meal over the two weeks was the Dover sole at Le Bistro. I was blown away by this dish. Ports and Sea Days – We had eight sea days on this cruise including the first six days. We also had to put our clocks ahead by one hour six different times. The weather was very nice and the seas were very calm. I was a bit worried about boredom when I booked this, but I brought several books and downloaded a bunch of podcasts. Additionally, there were plenty of activities all over the ship. I’m happy to say that I was never bored. The ports ( 7 of them) were very good too. All in all it was a very good itinerary. Room Steward – Ronald was terrific. NCL generally does a very good job in selecting and placing its employees. Again, Ronald was terrific! Complaints – The only complaint I have is with the Haven Concierge. He had two assistants, so he had some help to do this demanding job. Despite being in only one of eight Owner’s suites on this ship, he never took the time to introduce himself to us. As I said earlier, I have stayed in Owner’s Suites many times and the concierge always took the time to come by and say hello and offer his/her services. Believe me, we are not high maintenance people and we are far from demanding (rather we are very respectful to all of the staff). I mention this “snub” only to illustrate that if the Concierge doesn’t introduce himself to guests in the Owner’s Suites I can only imagine how other Haven guests get his attention. I was fortunate to have made Specialty Restaurant reservations before setting sail. However, when I asked to change a dining time one night, I walked down and talked to the Concierge. I felt like I was bothering him. He told me he’d get back to me and never did. I had to ask a second time and he told me he was unable to accommodate me. NCL should make sure those of us paying a premium be aware of the difficulty of securing a table in a specialty restaurant. My experience with the NCL Haven Concierge has always been quite good. The best we had was several years ago on the Jade. That concierge got a $500 tip from us for going above and beyond. And yes, that was the largest tip we have ever given to someone on a cruise, but we are always prepared to reward the employees for top notch service. My second interaction with the Haven Concierge on the Epic was also met with no follow up on his part. AT that point, we decided not to use his services at all. However, there was an additional contact - the concierge desk called my room one night to inform me that the time I requested to go to the Spiegel Tent was open and if I still wanted to make the reservation. But I had never asked for a reservation – they had dialed the wrong room!! The last day of the cruise, because we had a very early flight, we had to leave the ship at 5:30AM, the earliest possible time. A letter was delivered to the room from the Concierge related to the disembarkation process (which is made painless and easy for Haven guests). The letter indicated that if you were leaving between 530 and 600 to let the concierge know (the official disembarkation started at 6AM), so I walked down to the Concierge to say we needed to leave at 530. He looked at me quizzically, as though he had no idea why I was letting him know this (again, his letter instructed me to inform him), and said that he would be available at 530. I must reiterate, he was one of the few employees that I encountered that never asked what my name was, never addressed me by name, and always looked frazzled. We decided to leave the ship at 530 on our own instead of with his assistance. And I am a bit embarrassed to say, that this was the first time ever that I did not tip the Concierge at all. And we are not cheap! We tipped the butler, the steward, wait staff people in several restaurants, and others. Disembarkation (on our own and carrying off our 3 bags) was quick and easy. We were among the first few people to leave the ship so there was no problem at all. If we were leaving later we would have had to use the Haven Concierge in order to circumvent the lines. All said, I give the cruise 5 stars. The frustrating experience with the Concierge hopefully was just an anomaly. The Haven experience is worth the money for us. Next time I cruise I will make sure that I have Specialty Restaurant reservations in place by making them as soon as possible prior to the cruise. Despite much of this review being about the Concierge, I want to emphasize that every other staff person I met was exceptional (although some of the casino cocktail people looked pretty unhappy!). NCL’s strength truly is its employees. Many of the employees work long crazy hours for pay that most Americans wouldn’t get out of bed for and they maintain wonderful attitudes and display kindness in tough situations. I saw a guest loudly arguing with an employee at a Specialty Restaurant one night. The guest was an obnoxious jerk. I’m not sure if his argument had any validity or not, but the way he went about communicating it was awful. The NCL employee handled it well, never losing composure. My next journey with NCL will be an Alaska cruise in September! I can’t wait! Read Less

Great opportunity to experience travel through the ocean getting to Portugal Islands, and Spain. Unbelievable the variety of food. Wonderful Crew each of them very friendly, helpful and educated. Good teamwork of the boys and girls from the restaurants to the stateroom, without them there would not be so much success. Surprisingly the cleanliness throughout the boat is the main thing. There are good entertainments but they should have better space to be able to dance especially people have fun in dancing class. It would be very convenient if they offered Wi-Fi service cheaper or free in the future. Live music groups is the best that one can enjoy although The show honoring Tina Turner is incredible. Unquestionably the salsa music is the favorite of almost all passengers. I lost the gala night with the Captain, I did not expect it to be the first night of boarding and it would be fantastic if at least two dresses where made Read Less

I really enjoy cruising and the idea of a transatlantic including the numerous ports of call is what attracted me. I had never cruised with Norwegian before. I will definitely cruise with Norwegian. The ship is older so some areas need to be refreshed. There were more people on board than expected so there were line ups for the entertainment areas as well as the educational activities. After a few days, the problem with the educational activities was rectified. The pool sites were really well kept. There was the Spice H2O pool, were it is more quiet! Then there is the other pool where you have availability to listen to music and the Garden-Café is right there. There is food at this Café at all times. The sea was so calm all the way across and time just flew by. There were lots of fascinating activities including live bands where the music was really great. I truly enjoyed the free-style dining. There were lots of choices and the menus were delicious. The service was also excellent in these restaurants. My cabin was small but very comfortable. I could enjoy the balcony when I wanted quiet! The ports of call were great and I am very pleased with each shore excursion that I booked with the ship. I would do it all over again! Read Less

Just got back from the TA cruise to Barcelona. We cruised with Norwegian 3 times before, but first time on Transatlantic. Despite many negative reviews on Epic I have to say everything was almost perfect and exceeded our expectation. Embarkation took 5 min. because we spent the morning by the pool at a hotel and didn't come to the terminal until 2.30 pm. Nobody in the terminal by that time, of course. Went straight to our cabin that was ready waiting for us. The cruise was sold out, so we kind of worried about the crowds on board, but there was literally no lines nowhere except maybe at the pool bar in some afternoons, but even then the wait was like 5 min at the most. After a couple of days we were puzzled about where all the people are and even asked different crew members how many passengers were on board. The answers were consistent - about 4,320. So it was sold out, but it didn't really feel at all. Maybe has to do with the demography, but we never regretted that! All bars and restaurants were good. The music bands were awesome! Didn't see any of the shows in full, but sneaked in a couple of times to stand in the back and watch for a few minutes. Nothing really exciting as we've seen them before. The service was phenomenal with almost no exceptions. The crew did their best to accommodate the guests, and they succeeded in that in my opinion. Overall an awesome trip and a beautiful ship! I was celebrating a big birthday in April and our wedding anniversary in May so we decided to do something different - we usually do golfing vacations or visit family back in the U.K. So, we chose a 15 day cruise from Port Canaveral finishing in Barcelona. I did extensive research and also found the Roll Call on Cruise Critic invaluable as other passengers had great information to share. There were negative remarks on the internet about the design of the cabins, the wavy walls and especially the bathroom set up so I looked up videos on YouTube - we did not have a problem with the design - both the toilet and the shower are in cubicles of frosted glass and there is a privacy curtain to pull across if needed. There isn't a lot of space between the bottom of the bed and the units making it impossible for 2 people to pass at the same time, but you organize yourself .. Plenty of storage space, I was surprised. We found the food to be excellent and liked the freestyle dining very much - you didn't have to sit at the same table at the same time every evening and they offered the possibility to share tables with others, which we found to be very enriching as we spoke with people from different parts of the world and it was a very pleasant way to spend most mealtimes. Entertainment catered for all tastes, although we understood from others that it was easier to see shows on smaller ships. We saw what we wanted to with the exception of a couple of things that we fully booked. On board is a "replica" of the Cavern Club in Liverpool - they have a Beatles tribute band playing there, so obviously only a very limited number of people can fit into it at a time, so they had the band perform one evening in the main theater which gave many more people the opportunity to watch and listen. There were activities, not that we participated much, although I used the exercise room every day and all treadmills and bikes look out to see, very pleasant. The pool wasn't very big but neither was it ever full, maybe different when the children are off school and on vacation. The service was great in every aspect, the crew extremely polite and pleasing. We were told there are 74 different nationalities on board. The itinerary is what attracted us to the cruise, we had been to some of the ports many years' ago and it was a delight to re-visit and see the changes. We only took one excursion, which was from Cadiz to Seville, the rest we did on our own, using the hop on hop off buses mainly. As far as embarkation and disembarkation were concerned, again, no problems. We stayed for a couple of extra nights in Barcelona, again to re-visit. As we live in Florida we did not explore the departure city. Wi-fi. We chose the most expensive option as we needed to remain in contact with our business and found it worked perfectly, we even streamed a movie one evening without interruption. One important thing to remember as far as we were concerned, the sea was calm for the entire duration of the cruise. This obviously influenced in our enjoyment level, because had it been rough and we'd been sea sick, we would not have enjoyed the culinary delights, especially the specialty restaurants, in the way we did. The whole thing for us, was a very positive experience and we have definitely made some beautiful memories. Read Less

I chose the Norwegian Sun after checking online with all the cruise lines for the most updated ship. I was looking for remodeled well kept well painted clean looking with great reviews. I also asked co workers , friends that have gone on cruises and they confirmed Norwegian was the best for what I was looking for. Our Ship was true to what I learned and on arrival at port the first thing I saw was staff lifted up on the side of the Sun doing touch up paint what a way to confirm choice. During our stay our room was clean the whole ship was clean we even saw members cleaning the walls and elevators etc......... The restaurants were very clean staff worked hard to stay on top of everything I noticed. entertainment staff were fun, embarking and disembarking went smooth and quick! Now for the reason I am writing this, On our first Friday night the garden restaurant served Ratatouille It was the first time I ever tried it and it was so amazing I would love to know the recipe... If possible I would like to know what the sauce ingredients were. It was so good that I have never ate any food that excellent.. Read Less
