The Good and the Not-So-Good

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Norwegian Epic

This was only our third cruise and we chose the NCL Epic because the dates worked for us, we liked the Eastern Carib itinerary and...well heck...it was an awesome deal with the free beverage package and three restaurant upgrades.  I've been reading the reviews ever since this past fall when the Epic came back from it's European run and admittedly was a little worried that we'd made a bad ...

Enjoyed the Eastern Caribbean stops at St. Tomas and Tortola (Virgin Islands). The last stop at their private island in the Bahamas was a bust, since some swells were enough for them to stop tender service and evacuate the island (not dock, and terribly designed man-made port for the tenders). The boat is nice, and well maintained, although an odd layout - it feels a bit chopped up and there ...

First time on Norwegian after having sailed on Celebrity, Princess, Royal Caribbean and Carnival. First time sailing by myself (male, age 54). I was originally drawn to Norwegian to try something new and also because of the studio cabins. As it turned out the studios were sold out so I booked a balcony cabin for myself and was able to meet with many solo/single travelers. The unlimited drink ...

We are a couple in our mid to late 60s. We have cruised about a dozen times with various cruise lines. We booked this through CAS for an invitational slot tournament. We flew from NH to Orlando. Took the hotel shuttle to Radisson at the Port in Port Canaveral for our stay the night before the cruise. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. This is a very large hotel and was ...

An OK cruise with some definite highlights.

The cruise we chose was a 14 day Western & Eastern Caribbean. In fact it was two one week cruises and we had to disembark at the end of the first week and then embark for the second cruise. This process was slow and cumbersome, not helped by the fog that closed the port at the end of the first week nor by the number of passengers (4300 or so on the Norwegian Epic). This was a 25th anniversary ...

Ship has no deck to allow outside walking!

Norwegian acknowledges their mistakes in this ship's design. The Epic has no deck for walking or running! I would never sail on this ship again due to it having no place to walk around outside and stretch your legs. Cagney's, Taste and the Manhatten dining rooms were great. Drink packages were strange. You could get as much alcohol as you wanted as part of the package, but not ...

Large But Crowded

Although the ship is rather large, there were very few quiet areas to sit and talk, or read a book. The casino (which allows smoking) was in the middle of deck 6 and was exposed to the dinning areas and lounges. The food was very good (especially the specialty restaurants) and service in dinning areas was good. The two gig shows were excellent, however the Circus / Dinner was good but very ...

The Norwegian Epic is one of those huge floating cities stuffed with huge people. In all fairness, the ship is for the most part pretty nice but 4100 passengers and almost 2000 crew significantly reduce the number of square feet available per passenger. The mini-suite I stayed in was great. Lots of storage and quite comfortable. The housekeeping (and all other crew members) were super. Rarely was ...

Epic Cruise was average...ship was nice, food was not very good, service great

The ship was very clean and the service was excellent in all areas of the ship...the food was average to fair at best...selection was so repetitive and the same daily and just kind of blah. The shows were so hard to get in to and booked up that we only got to see 2 shows the whole week. The ship again was very clean and well kept and the room steward was great and kept our room very clean. ...
