Beautiful ship that needs a lot of improvement

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Norwegian Prima

We have taken several cruises, mostly on Celebrity, this was our first on NCL. Ship is new, but for the number of passengers it holds the public spaces are small. Theater is small, the main (no extra fee) pool is small, the reservations for shows and a la carte dining fill up way too fast. I inquired about the Vibe space a few months before sailing. The NCL person on the phone told me it wasn’t ...

New Ship The Good and The Not So Good

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Norwegian Prima

Chose this cruise because of the new ship. Have cruised NCL many times and always enjoyed the ships we were on. There were four of us my husband, best friend and her husband. I would say our biggest disappointment was the fixed menu and food in the dining room. We enjoy eating in the dining rooms and in the past have found the food excellent and the choice very good. With the fixed menu ...

Party ship

It may have been our fault that we didn't research the ship as thoroughly as we should have before we choose it. We really just looked at designations. Our mistake. The Escape is a very very large ship. And quite crowded at times. My biggest complaint was that the pool area was always crowded with people drinking early and often. The pools and hot tubs were extremely crowded and let's face it, ...

Prima-rily a work in progress

Having previously been on the Bliss and Escape, we were eagerly anticipating our Prima cruise. Unfortunately, many of our expectations/hopes were not fulfilled. While we did have some positives, unfortunately the negatives won out. First let me start with the POSITIVES: Prima still has that new ship smell. Upon entering, we knew we were on the newest ship in the fleet. Almost without ...

Nice Try Prima, but did not come through for us

We were excited to try the new ship despite the negative reviews and go in with an open mind. Unfortunately, this ship did not come through for us except for the cabin. The service staff was great and food was good. Shows We were boarding group 17 and were on the ship by 11:15 am and like others have noted all of the shows were already sold out. Was told to wait outside in the standby ...

I wanted to cruise on the Newest Ship of NCL the Prima for a few different reasons. The 1st being able to drive the race cars. I had taken a cruise to Alaska with the NCL but because the weather was bad I never got to drive the racecars on that cruise. On the Prima I was luckier and was able to drive the racecars and it was the best money ever spent. I strongly recommend to everybody, that if they ...

Pretty disappointing

We booked the Prima based on a cruise credit we wished to utilize and what appeared to be a very new and interesting ship that departed from NCL's previous offerings. I have spent over 100 days on NCL's ships and always enjoyed the experience. In the case of the Prima, however, we were disappointed. The App is awful: You cannot text through the App (unless on an iPhone - Too bad Android) as ...

Good and not so good

Let me start off with the good! Embarkation went smoothly taking only 30 minutes from arrival to on board the ship. The room steward was amazing, even providing us a direct number to call if we had any problems. The food and service at La Cucina was excellent. The service in the cafeteria every morning was excellent. Multiple staff checked to make sure all was well. Choir ...

Embarkation - As expected, long lines. Got in line a half hour before our reserved boarding time and got through security right at our reserved time. It was fine - very busy, long lines, and as good as expected. Now the good impressions- 1. We had a balcony for the first time, and it was awesome, and it felt pretty roomy! We are now spoiled and can't go back to Oceanview. 2. Daily ...

Probably Looked Good on Paper, But…

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Norwegian Prima

User Avatar

While Prima is a beautiful ship, NCL tried to make her all things for all people and failed almost everyone in the process. It’s as if a dozen different designers worked on their own areas without communicating with anyone else. Cabins are spacious and comfortable and Ocean Boulevard is nice but these positives are far outnumbered by other negatives. The main pool area is grossly undersized. The ...
