Off the beaten path in South America - Didn't feel like a typical cruise!

Review for a South America Cruise on Norwegian Sun

We chose this cruise because my parents had cruising the Panama Canal as a bucket-list trip. They asked my fiance and I if we'd like to join, and we said yes! My parents chose the cruise line and itinerary, and we came along for the ride! My parents stayed in a suite, while we stayed in a balcony mid-ship room. The cruise left from Miami, and we flew in the evening before. We shared a room with ...

My husband and I had a great 15 days on board the Norwegian Sun. Can now check off the Panama Canal from my Bucket List. The Sun is very manageable, once you realize that decks are cut apart and you can;t get there from here. You might have to go up or down a deck to get to the other side. The cabin, 9235, was small but we managed. One afternoon we came back to the cabin to find our desk ...

15 days was a great vacation to escape the cold in December! Lots of ports, some sea days. We like Norwegian Cruise Lines' Free Style (dine anytime) dining options. Great specialty restaurants too. Shore excursions- there were a lot to choose from and we got credits to use for each port we stopped at. Tour guides were top-notch! Food- lots of choices from fine dining to casual buffet and an ...

It's a re-positioning from Miami to Santiago via the Panama Canal. Port stops include Santa Marta, Cartegena, Manta, Trujillo, Lima, Arica, Coquimbo, and San Antonio (Valparaiso, Santiago). We had over 100 Cruise Critic members on this sailing and some are taking the B2B to Buenos Aires. There were two rough sea days but by keeping busy and with help from sea sickness pill got over it. The ...

Flew into Fort Lauderdale the day before and had a wonderful dinner at Anthony's Runway 84. To shuttle to Miami to get on ship. Easy embarkation at the Casino at Sea Counter. The ship was one of the smaller ships to go through the Panama Canal and locks. It needs some updating which I understand is happening in February or April.2018. In 20 years of cruising, I felt this was the best ...

Panama Canal and South America-another checkoff on the Bucket List

The itinerary for this cruise was excelllent. We got to see many different cultures, and ate a wide variety of foods and cuisines. The food in the buffet was average. The food offered in the dining rooms was slightly above average. All the while the service throughout the ship from soup to nuts was excellent. The ship needs some refurbishing which apparently has already been scheduled, as ...

Although an old ship, very well designed. Jogging/walking track is on deck 6. This is much bigger than new ships. Chairs out of the way and no smokers on this level. We loved this and walked/jogged multiple times/day. Also ship is great for non-smokers -- designated smoking areas worked well to keep smoke away from non-smokers except for casino smoke, which made its way to some common areas ...

We chose this cruise for the itinerary and we enjoyed ourselves. The stateroom was surprisingly big with plenty of storage and a very comfortable bed. The (included) Seven Seas restaurant was very nice, and we ate at the buffet a couple times and it was fine. What made the ship stand out was the staff, quick to help and unfailingly cheerful. The gym was very nice with newer machines and free ...

I chose this because of the itinerary and chose NCL because of our cruise history with them. We originally booked an obstructed ocean view cabin, but after our final deposit we bid on the mini suite with a balcony. Our bid was accepted about 3 weeks after submitting our bid so we had lots of time to get excited and look at reviews. Our cabin was mid ship (MA) and it was noisy due to the ...

Great Cruise for Solo Travelers!

The best thing about this cruise was the daily meeting group for solo travelers--hands down!!!! It was a listed activity in the daily mailer and I went just on a lark. This was the best decision I made because I met lots of wonderful people. Not everyone was single, some were just unaccompanied. We met for dinner every day, hung out, went on shore excursions, etc. As a solo traveler, this group ...
