Does not compare to the 138,000 +/- gross ton ships out there. For the most part pretty well maintained but a little boring. The excitement was visiting the Baltic!
Food average overall, and many items were pretty good, but a lot of repetition. But horrible soups across the board, not even a basic quality. Coffee consistently horrible! Then I asked some questions and this is what I found out. ...
Well - to make it easy: you can pay more - and you get more... but I am always asking myself is there a need to have more and spend the money for another cruise for some comfort of one cruise only.
With NCL I can afford balconies while with the same budget I would only get lower categories.
But you must accept some lower standards in the free food.
Our cruise started in Copenhagen. A ...
We are well traveled seniors. This was our first cruise because I always thought I would not like cruising. Would there be crowds and long lines, would I be bored? Norwegian's Freestyle seemed very appealing to me coupled with a great itinerary made this trip very appealing.
Embarkation: I wanted to arrive early because I did not know what to expect and was prepared for a long wait. Thirty two ...
This was a late last minute booking for us. I had seen this cruise offered a couple of years ago, and filed it away. When I had to decide on a vacation with little time, I jumped at this. So glad I did.
This certainly isn't a cruise for first time cruisers. The ports are for those looking for something different, and understanding the possible weather in the north Atlantic in late September. ...
Before I begin, I want to thank our dear friends, Heinbloed (Tien) and Bruno for taking care of us "2 old people". Without them we wouldn't have seen as many interesting and beautiful nature. Heinbloed had planned all of our excursion.
The day before we embarked on the cruise, they took us by rental car to the Kronborg castle, Karen Blixen's museum and just to see the outside of the Louisiana ...
I am still smiling about our cruise experience on the NCL Sun from Copenhagen to Norway, Iceland, Faroe Islands, Scotland and Ireland. My wife and I had a great time and here are the positives and unfortunately one negative:
POSITIVES:
- NCL came up with a great itinerary which appealed to it's Latitude Members (who have already taken all the Med, Carib, Alaskian cruises and need more ports ...
We have received great info over the years from these Cruise Critic posts. Finally decided to pass along a few observations in return:
1. First of all, this is a great itinerary. Hard to imagine hitting all these cities by plane in 9 days.
2. The ship was in great shape and actually felt larger than we expected, have cruised on the Golden and Grand Princess. This ship felt almost as ...
Our travels began at Charlotte Douglas International airport. Our friends arrived at our home early. We feared that we could possibly have an interruption as the democratic convention was in full swing in Charlotte. The day of our departure both the current president and past president were flying in. If the airspace was closed for an extended time we would miss our connection in Chicago which ...
There were supposed to be only 2 sea days on this cruise so it is fairly hectic with a port almost every day. St.Petersburg was the highlight for us, we did the 2 day ModerateTour with SPB Tours and found them to be really informative. Olga was our tour leader (14 participants) and she was very knowledgeable - we would recommend her and SPB Tours. We found the Moderate Tour to be all we wanted ...
As committed Freestyle cruisers, we expected to enjoy our first trip on the Norwegian Sun and we were definitely not disappointed. The itinerary was most unusual but that only heightened the appeal and we were delighted to discover fascinating places not usually associated with luxury cruising.
The Sun proved to be a great ship with wonderful staff and the relaxed, almost quiet, atmosphere made ...
