Cruising Sunny & Warm Spain, Morocco & Portugal!
"On the whole we had a great time due to the excellent weather, great ports of call and lovely friends we made on the ship.As the itinerary was very port intensive with no sea days, we usually left in the morning and came back late afternoon/evening...."Read More

We had an excellent time aboard NCL Sun boarding in Tenerife and cruising to Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Agadir, Casablanca, Ceuta, Malaga, Cadiz & ending in Lisbon. Having sailed on NCL Sun in 2017 in South America, we decided to sail again this year when a great deal & itinerary came up. We booked the whole package with NCL including flights and transfers. Everything went smoothly from start ...

Nice itinerary, some niggles with service

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Norwegian Sun

The itinerary appealed…Lisbon,Madeira, Canaries, Gibraltar, Malaga and Cadiz. The Sun didn’t seem to cope as well with the Atlantic swell as other ships we’ve been on. Food generally excellent, los lobos was disappointing. Restaurants mostly quieter than on other cruises, I do wonder if it’s because of the “à la carte” pricing adopted by NCL which has dramatically pushed up the cost. ...

Sun cruise from Malaga

Our cruise began and ended in Malaga in March 23. We went to Cadiz, Lisbon, Madeira, the Canary Islands and Gibraltar. The weather started off wet but it got very hot in Madeira. There were passengers joining the cruise at every port and disembarking too. The ports were all lovely except Gran Canaria and Tenerife. Just big towns. We had an inside cabin. The bed was extremely comfortable and ...

Very nice winter break

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Norwegian Sun

Mainly because my Asian cruise was canceled and a mess in aviation I chose this cruise to a warm destination and closer to home. The N. Sun was the smallest ship I ever traveled on. There was not much on board and the singers and dancers were below any expectations. Also most of the shops, bars and entertainment staff were not as brilliant as I had on other ships. Despite the recent ...

Canary Islands in November

Review for a Canary Islands Cruise on Norwegian Sun

The Norwegian Sun is a lovely fairly small ship with a maximum capacity of 1,936 passengers but it seemed really spacious as it was just 80% full. It was built in 2001 but refitted in 2018, so looked like new (after a 2 year pause for COVID). Embarkation in Lisbon was very easy and the 8 day cruise finished at Málaga having visited Madeira and various Canary Islands. In November 2022, ...

We chose this transatlantic because of the itinerary and our experience with NCL! Overall a great choice! Great value! It had it all! Staff, as always, was the best going! Warm, friendly, professional and efficient! Could not have been better! Hats off to Jane, Leo, Bruno, Miguel, Jose, Marvin, Michelle, Marissa and so many more! Talent was so good! Food exceptional! We have received great info over the years from these Cruise Critic posts. Finally decided to pass along a few observations in return: 1. First of all, this is a great itinerary. Hard to imagine hitting all these cities by plane in 9 days. 2. The ship was in great shape and actually felt larger than we expected, have cruised on the Golden and Grand Princess. This ship felt almost as ...

Norwegian Sun Baltic cruise - the highs and lows.

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Norwegian Sun

There were supposed to be only 2 sea days on this cruise so it is fairly hectic with a port almost every day. St.Petersburg was the highlight for us, we did the 2 day ModerateTour with SPB Tours and found them to be really informative. Olga was our tour leader (14 participants) and she was very knowledgeable - we would recommend her and SPB Tours. We found the Moderate Tour to be all we wanted ...

Our First Cruise

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Norwegian Sun

First Time Cruiser • Age 70s

We are well traveled seniors. This was our first cruise because I always thought I would not like cruising. Would there be crowds and long lines, would I be bored? Norwegian's Freestyle seemed very appealing to me coupled with a great itinerary made this trip very appealing. Embarkation: I wanted to arrive early because I did not know what to expect and was prepared for a long wait. Thirty two ...

It's our 14th cruise with 4 lines; all things considered this was one of the best. As always though, some things were great & some on the opposite. 1. Embarkation. We bought a transfer in order not to deal with cabbies in the unknown city. The price is comparable with the taxi. The execution was pretty bad: it was disorganized & we had to wait 1.5 hours for the bus. It sucks by itself & even ...
