Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Star

We booked this cruise solely because of Rio. I knew that it was an older ship, but really didn't realize the big difference compared to newer ships. There was little to do. The TV in the cabin was almost worthless. The showroom was only used for the evening show. Nothing ever during the day like lectures, movies, or anything interesting. The food was not very good. The afternoon buffet carving for ...

Never Cruise with Norwegian Star Again

I sailed with NCL Star ship Lisbon to Buenos Aires 21-day route (15-day Transatlantic and 7-day South America). During embarkation on Lisbon, they checked the vaccine status of passengers. During the trip, everybody seems ok for the first few days. Later at least half of the passengers start exhibiting severe cough, runny nose, and fever. Some of the passengers complained about losing smell and ...

NCL is horrible in so many ways

I chose the cruise for the low price. and I also did the follow-on cruise from Miami to Chile. As I've come to expect, more of the ship was given over to "pay extra" venues. And the food continues to go downhill. In four weeks there was never prime rib. Of course no lobster, but even shrimp and crab were very scarce. They are cutting corners wherever possible. But the main issue is them ...

Mold, Cold Food, Poor Service

No information provided by NCL on where to find the shuttle bus in Civitavecchia from the train. Aft facing Penthouse suite had serious mold issue at our arrival that was never resolved. We chose this room and cruise specifically to relax. We couldn’t even sleep well with the horrible air quality let alone relax in the suite. We both ended up sick by the end of the cruise. Room did not look ...

The poorest ship that I have sailed on bar none

I chose it for it having Madeira scheduled as a stop. That stop was cancelled. I have been on many cruises on at least nine different lines and by far, this is the most disgusting ship that I have ever been on. The staff are young, inexperienced, and poorly trained and many don't speak enough intelligible English. They hang in slap happy packs and seem to look at you blankly when you ask for ...

My husband and I wanted to do a transatlantic cruise to Europe from Miami since long time ago, and after trying many other cruise lines we decided to try Norwegian "Big Mistake" The ship was old, falling apart, rusty, the food was terrible, and the entertainment was not the best. The ship was understaffed, poorly trained, and the menus were the same every single day. If you do a cruise for 14 ...

Suitable for alcoholics (if anyone) - not pleasant, not safe

I can't say much good about my recent far too long cruise. "Drink all you can" -package, that most people seemed to have been with, had attracted the most unattractive crowd I have ever seen. To make matters worse NCL security seemed very much at loss, unable to properly judge people and situations. As the monotonous days dragged on (enrichment program very thin) many drunks/drinking parties ...

Checked in at Dover this took us 3hrs processing did not start until 1 instead of 12 and then problems with checking in passports and debit card We then encountered bad weather so all time was spent inside ship we tried everything but choose was limited and could not be classed as quality entertainment, after stop at the Azores and improvement in weather we went on deck 12 to enjoy the ...

Retire the Star

For the most part my husband and I agree with the honeymoon couple. The Star is a terrible, tired ship that needs to be retired!! We had a balcony room. The bed was comfortable, and sheets were ironed--this was the only good thing about the room. The bathroom is in three different sections. The vanity area is fine, shower was good, but the toilet area was terrible. This area had a sliding door, ...
