Spectacular Cruise on the Star

Review for Norwegian Star to Caribbean - Southern

We had never visited most of the Islands on this Cruise and specially wanted to visit Aruba & Curaçao. We loved each port and all of our excursions! The ship was just coming from a remodel and was beautifuly redone. It felt like we were traveling on a brand new ship clean & bright. We never traveled on the Star before but, we have been on the Dawn and we loved the improvements. Everything ...

Confused Boarding and Bad Food

This cruise was a Thanksgiving outing with my wife, sister and brother-in-law. The itinerary was great, with ports of call at Aruba and Curacao, two of my favorite Caribbean islands. But the vacation was marred by the most confused boarding I have ever seen in my 23 cruises and by mediocre food. The last night's dinner was particularly bad, with all of us complaining about our meals in the dining ...

This was our eighth cruise and our sixth with NCL. It was a repositioning cruise departing from New York, luckily the week before the big storm hit that city. As we travelled down the Atlantic, we had no indication of there being a storm as our ship likely sailed around it. From the moment we boarded, we were greeted by outstandingly friendly crew members. These greetings, such as "good ...

Although getting to the port from our hotel was a bit overwhelming, (We booked with the cruise line for the hotel and transfers) and waiting for checking in was longer than I had hoped for, after that eveything was great. There were three bus loads of passengers from our hotel, so waiting until all the baggage was loaded, and everyone accounted for, took longer than expected I'm sure. Then when ...

This was my 25th NCL cruise, our first repositioning cruise (4/15/12), and by far the best experience we've had on a ship. This Deluxe Owner Suite is probably the most expensive cabin we've cruised in, but a few weeks before the cruise it came down to a reasonable price and we jumped on it. I'm female and 48, and my other half, Steve, is male 54. We arrived in Tampa 3 days early, because of ...

The Good, the Better, and the Best

We chose this cruise because it was a repositioning, and because it was going to Aruba, which I had not been to on our previous cruises. Our first sailing on the Star in 2006 was "interesting" as it was our first exposure to freestyle cruising. Having been use to the structured dining schedules, the freestyle took us out of our comfort zone and we left the Star having a so-so experience. The ...

We sailed on the repositioning cruise from Tampa, the 15-27. If you didn't enjoy this cruise something has to be wrong. After having a not so wonderful time when the Dawn launched I was extremely hesitant about going on the Star. Well I was happily surprised is an understatement. From the time we got off the gangway party started, I could see by the greeting we got this would be a trip to ...

Embarkation Entered terminal at 12:30, on gangway at 1:30. Headed straight to Versailles for lunch to avoid the mob scene at the Market Cafe. Don't know exactly when the bags arrived in our stateroom, but were there when we popped in at 5:30. Disembarkation -- Liked their setup, passengers can select their choice of colored tags based on what time they would like to disembark. You can pick up ...

I was so disappointed with this ship! Took us over an hour to board, and an hour and half to get off! The food was tasteless! I can not believe they have a chef on board. The spring rolls were not rolled correctly! One bite and they fell apart! The steak was 1 inch at best and tuff!(like shoe leather) The next night I ordered pork chop (I should of known better)and it was just like the steak! ...

The April 15th Sailing of the Norwegian Spirit For reference purposes this was our 16th cruise. We've sailed with Holland America, Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Celebrity and Premier Cruises. We are 54 and 53 years young, love to cruise and love meeting new friends, which we always do on board a cruise. Dancing is also a passion of ours and we did lots of that on this cruise. Of all our cruises ...
