"we did not do the buffet, but the food over the 14 days was great, the downside, is the new NCL approach to keeping the same menu during the entire cruise..the accommodations were great with room to spread out a bit in the living space...."Read More

1-10 of 13 South America Norwegian Star South America Cruise Reviews
My husband and i found a fantastic last minute deal on the norwegian star for a buenos aires to antarctica cruise during feb./mar. 2024 (14-nights). being a last minute deal, a family suite was only ~$25 more per night than a balcony room, so we couldn’t pass that up. this was our first time cruising in in a suite on any line. we sailed on the norwegian star last year in a balcony room, and on ...
The first time I booked this cruise 2 years ago it was canceled. This time the cruise went but the itinerary was suddenly changed. People from remote parts of the world had a long journey to Argentina mostly to see Antarctica, but instead of 2 full days in Antarctica, we had only 2 hours and saw 2 islands from a distance. It was a big disappointment for many of us. As we understood the only reason ...
Last year we cruised from buenos aires to South Shettland Islands with NCL on 2023 February 12th. It was a panoramic cruise but too intersting.
We watched a lot of whales in Elephant Island, great landscapes of glaciers and Cientifics bases in Admiralty Bay, penguins in puerto madrin, ushuaia and punta arenas, and a lof of birds during the trip.
We sadly cant arrive to Falklands Island ...
We chose this cruise because it was the first time that a NCL ship would cruise Antarctica. We really enjoyed the 2 days spent cruising Antarctica. The captain was flexible in where we went and made changes according to the weather. NCL arranged for several professionals to be aboard who had worked in Antarctica, and they gave a number of presentations and also made announcements from the ...
We chose this cruise because it was a special gift for one of our daughters. She wanted to see penguins :) and we wanted to go to Antarctica. Well we did not get the chance to step on the continent, but it was an amazing trip full of new adventures.
We were in a two bed suite.. I would say the only downside of the room was the creaking :) ( the ship is getting renovated in '24). our room ...
We chose this cruise because we loved the itinerary...so exciting to sail around the bottom of South America!
The Star is in excellent condition thanks to the crew's constant upkeep. It seemed as though we saw painters working every single time we were walking around. The food was excellent with a wide variety to choose from; food service was excellent as well.
The onboard entertainment ...
We choose this cruise because of the opportunity to visit Greenland for the first time and return to Iceland which we had seen on an NCL cruise 5 years ago but not on the Star but on the Gem. We were concerned that the ship was much smaller and older then the ships we typically travel but because of the ports we decided to book it.
By the time of our cruise we were aware the last scheduled ...
Seeing Patagonia has been on my bucket llst for a while, and we had high expectations for this trip. We booked a year in advance, planned a week in Santiago before the cruise and a week after in Buenos Aires. In a word, everything was AMAZING. This will be a long review wiih lots of recommendations. :-)
We stayed at a lovely, family-run, small hotel in Santiago -- Hotel Mery. Highly ...
We saw this trip and figured it would round out what we wanted to see in South American. There was some concern as the messages on CC said there was a possible problem with the ship's engines on the previous voyage (reverse of this one). Not sure of the real story but we had no problem and ship ran fine. Overall the cruise was enjoyable except for the problem with our cabin (see below) and with ...
We had a very good time and our ship had no engine or delay problems . The seas were very calm on our sailing & when we rounded Cape Horn it was like a lake with good visibility. The Captain said that is unusual for weather/seas in that area. Weather was very chilly for most of the trip except in Buenos Aires and really hot (90s) in Santiago. Make sure you bring a sweatshirt/jacket with hood ...
