1-10 of 85 Norwegian Star Cruise Reviews for Singles Cruises to the Mediterranean
This cruise for our time line for our group and went to ports we wanted to see. Or at least it was supposed to. A week before we flew to Venice we got notified that there were “technical issues“ with the ship and would be missing two ports. They also shortened the time in the rest of the ports we were scheduled to actually visit. For this we got only a $100 non refundable onboard credit. We ...
I chose to schedule this—my first—cruise trip, to spend some time with good friends and visit places I've never seen. I was especially interested in visiting Santorini, Greece and Montenegro. Nevertheless, I was disappointed when, after starting the trip, was informed that both destinations were cancelled. Furthermore, the reasons were generic/non-specific and only given thru a letter left at my ...
This is a review about Norwegian, not the Star especially. Because of mechanical issues, it was said, a Nov. 10-22 cruise from Venice to Barcelona, had too many changes. We started with ONE at-sea day and ended up with THREE. NCL dropped Kotor, Montenegro and Santorini, Greece, precisely why most of us went! This was a big blow. And the changes were advised one day before we left Venice, so no ...
This was our first cruise with NCL. I am a travel agent and my family has previously cruised several times with Disney and with Royal Caribbean. We know cruising Disney spoils you but we went with NCL for this itinerary, the promos they offered and the pricing. (Which by the way was amazing in every way)
We bid for an upgrade and ended up in a Mini Suite Balcony which was amazing on every ...
The itinerary on this cruise was exactly what we were looking for. We stayed in Venice for two nights prior to the cruise and one night after. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Venice.
Embarkation was not bad except for the very long walk from the People Mover to the ship. Luckily it was not raining. We noticed that taxis were allowed to drive up next to the ship so that would be a good ...
Clearly there was a health problem with the Ship as staff were disinfecting/washing continuously. No condiments on tables, no self service at the buffet and getting a hot drink was a terrible ordeal. I did not hear of anyone coming down with the dreaded norovirus. Whilst prevention is always better than cure this became an absolute nuisance.
The ship is coming up for being twenty years old ...
We selected this cruise for the ports and ended up missing Montenegro and Argostoli. Montenegro was missed due to changes by the Port Authority in Venice. Venice now staggers the coming and going of all cruise ship. NCL was given the LAST leaving time out of Venice so this meant we had to miss Montenegro. Argostoli was missed (we were told) due to the weather however we never experienced any bad ...
We chose this cruise because we wanted to visit Venice (2 night stay prior to the cruise) and also visit the Greek isles and Dubrovnik. Prior to the cruise the stop at Kotor (Montenegro) was changed to Bar and this was a 2 hour ‘technical’ stop so no getting off the ship (Kotor would have been 2.30pm-8pm) Apparently this was due to the Venice port authority making changes to our departure time ...
Chosen based on itinerary, but far too much tendering and arriving last in ports visited by multiple cruise liners, meant very little time in ports, especially when ship choose to use third party tenders. Queing for an hour to get a tender ticket at 7 in the moring only to queue another hour to leave the ship at 9 and 4 hours later queing again for a shore tender to return.
Another example, ...
This is the second time we've sailed with Norwegian and it will be the last. Twice now they have cancelled a port without having any kind of alternate plan in place. The first time was the Baltic Sea cruise where they cancelled the Stockholm port. Reason was that it was too windy to get thought the passage. And I understand that. BUT I'm also certain this was not the first time it was too ...
