Norwegian only 3 star after covid years

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Norwegian Star

We chose this cruise to visit Morocco and several ports we had not been to but the Moroccan ports were cancelled at the last minute. Although this was a complete overreaction by the cruise line and we were disappointed it was followed by many other disappointments. The food onboard is nowhere as good as that offered precovid, ie some cold dishes and the flavour and variety has deteriorated. We had ...

Most disappointing cruise I have ever had! This was my fifth cruise on board a ship and the third time with Norwegian.

As far as the food was concerned, I felt I was back at a camp cafeteria even though I always ate in one of their dining rooms. It is a shame that their menus far out did the quality of food. Even the 'special' dining was bad news in the quality of food. I had paid extra for 'Priority Boarding'. There was none provided!! One particular day, I had to line up 2 hours just to disembark from the ...

Great Cruise Itinerary

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Norwegian Star

We were attracted to this cruise because of the itinerary. Our cabin , 107**, was very good and so was the service provided by our cabin steward. The overall food quality was fair at best and the beef was consistently tough and chewy, even in the specialty restaurants. The service in the main dining restaurants, especially The Versailles Restaurant , was exceptionally poor to the extent that we ...

A ship that has poor entertainment, misleading shore excursions information and is tired and dated.

We chose this cruise for the ports which were advertised to be in Belgium, France, Spain and Portugal. Portugal was removed from the itinerary before we sailed with no reason as to why. Le harve was also removed due to strike action at the port and whilst this is not the fault of NCL we did not get our port fees returned. Then the port for Bordeaux was cut short as there was no crane at the ...

Hospitality Management Training is Lacking

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Star

Where was middle management? So many issues with poor service and no one handling basic issues. It seemed like there is a complete lack of basic hospitality-service training. Here are but a few things to mention: -honey packets so sticky in Garden Cafe each day, you have to wash your hands after handling. I told a woman in uniform...yet same sticky situation every day after -salt grinders ...

You don’t always get what you pay for

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Norwegian Star

We took this cruise as part of a fairly large group of friends. We cruised Norwegian in the past, when we had a great experience, so we were excited. We learned through social media that the Star was having propulsion system problems, and was unable to complete its previous itinerary as planned. One of our group is a travel agent, who contacted the NCL headquarters a couple of days before sailing ...

Broken engine and missed stops

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Norwegian Star

I chose this cruise because I was excited that we would be at port most days and I really wanted to visit Santorini, Greece. Unfortunately, we were notified the day before we set sail that the itinerary had been changed and we would not be going to Santorini after all. They offered us $100 compensation per state room. They had also removed a stop to Montenegro and had shortened 5 of our other ...

Winter Cruise Joyful, Cruise Line Not Soo Much

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Norwegian Star

I choose this cruise because of the port stops. Because of mechancial issues with the ship we were not able to accomplich all the ports on the tour and other ports where we did stop the shore excursions were curtailed. These mechanical issues with this cruise ship were known well in advance of our embarkation (the last two cruises were negatively impacted) and was not revealed to us until the ...

Poor management, unorganized, mediocre food - my only negative cruise review!

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Norwegian Star

I have done over 41 cruises on various lines. I choose a cruise for the itinerary & price. I also did the 14 night trans Atlantic after the 12 night Greek island cruise. This is my first cruise review and only negative feelings about a ship. I had cruised the NCL Star twice in the past and did not feel this way then. Staff were friendly hard workers but not trained well. After taking an ...

Cons Significant itinerary change was the largest issue and made 2 days prior, 2 At Sea days were added for a total of 3 days. Santorini and Kotor were cancelled due to ships mechanical issues (they told us they lost an engine.) They shaved off 1-2 hours per port as well. We received $100 credit and 20% off future cruise. Incredibly disappointing. Lines for everything. Leaving out of ...
