"Kirkwall Short day round this tidy and impressive mini city with superb 11th Century Cathedral and two ruined palaces, Fortunately it’s a place easily reached from the north of England so, our appetite whetted, we will be making plans to return and explore in great depth at another time. However, I note that the ships future itineraries seem to alternate between the South Atlantic and Nordic lands in the respective summers, neither of which are notably warm so maybe there’s scope to currently underused external areas On the other hand, NCL has a great track record on port of call intensity and we had 5 repeat visits and 6 other visits on our back to back adventure...."Read More

A ship that has poor entertainment, misleading shore excursions information and is tired and dated.

We chose this cruise for the ports which were advertised to be in Belgium, France, Spain and Portugal. Portugal was removed from the itinerary before we sailed with no reason as to why. Le harve was also removed due to strike action at the port and whilst this is not the fault of NCL we did not get our port fees returned. Then the port for Bordeaux was cut short as there was no crane at the ...

First of all the staff were really great and the ship was always maintained in an immaculate condition. However, overall on this cruise what was supposed to be a cruise of a lifetime did not met our expectations in any way shape or form. The air conditioning in our room worked intermittently and this was reported to the guest services several times. It kept us awake most evenings in very ...

Bug in Bed, 3 Itinerary Changes No Service Recovery

We were very disappointed with our cruise with the Norweigan Star. It was a 10 day crusie. We found a bed bug on our bed the second night. The staff claimed it is not a bed bug. The only person that apologized to us was Kristine the room attendant. Everyone else dismissed the issue and acted like nothing happened. We had to push them to wash our clothes for us free (after asking 4 times). Also ...

Had great cruise in 2018 with Norwegian on the epic. Was hoping for same on the Star. The Star is smaller and was very clean. Cabin staff were excellent. Staff constantly yelling greetings at you everywhere you go. Had to ask a few to stop yelling at me. It’s sad because in their attempt to make you feel Welcome it becomes annoying and we just started to ignore them as the trip ...

OK well, looking at a few recent reviews, I've come to the conclusion I must be easily pleased! I've no major complaints about this cruise, all the staff I interacted with were very pleasant, helpful and hardworking, everything seemed spick & span. My cabin (a partially blocked outside on deck 8) wasn't massive, but was perfectly adequate, it's not like I spend a great deal of awake time ...

Interesting itinerary let down by poor excursions

We had some FCC to use up by the end of the year and didn't fancy the challenge of airports and so choose this trip from Southampton. We had cruised with NCL four times before and had always been satisfied. Embarkation was good but, although we had requested assistance for my wife in a wheelchair, we were initially put in a long queue with everyone else until we saw a wheelchair going to a ...

Chose this cruise because it was owed to us due to covid as we could no longer cruise to Russia and the initial itinerary was good. However in the weeks leading up to cruise itinerary was changed 3 times. The ship was refurbished and the actual balcony cabin and bathroom was spacious. From day 1 issues arose no wine to our taste was stocked first time in 23 yrs of cruising. The zipper covering ...

Cold Food Lets It Down

The ship was very clean and the staff were friendly. The food choice is good but in nearly every restaurant the food is cold or tepid. In the Versailles especially coffee was not hot enough and spoilt breakfast. We liked O’Sheehans and the service was very good, again coffee was not always hot. Overall the speciality restaurants were good although in Le Bistro the service was far too quick. La ...

Poorest guest services

NCL needs to learn a few things about customer service, because their's is sorely lacking. I recently completed a 10-day cruise aboard the NCL Star and have never experienced such a poor cruise (and I do many). Let's start with shore excursions. They don't allow enough free time for passengers to enjoy the area they are in and do some shopping. We were late docking at Amsterdam and they ...

Smaller ship, still a great time

11 day cruise with my family from Iceland, to Norway, to Scotland and finished in London. Fourth time sailing with Norwegian, first time on one of their smaller ships. As we had anticipated, it was very much in line with our other Norwegian cruises, just with smaller venues and less bells-and-whistles. The staff was phenomenal; always professional, friendly and helpful. We lost one of our ...
