Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Norwegian Star

The Panama canal has been a bucket list trip for me for years and this one was priced right so I took it. Overall I had a great time. Going through the Panama canal was very well done with Panamanian official on board giving timely reports over the intercom as to what we were seeing. Just keep in mind that the Star is an older ship and will not compare to the newer ones in the fleet. If you ...

Embarkation in Miami NCL must FIX THIS. It is not wise to begin a cruise with chaos, inefficiency and overcrowding. NCL has the opportunity to create a positive first impression ONCE; and on this cruise, it failed. I later learned that the delay was caused by an unannounced ship inspection which NCL STAR passed with ease. An explanation of the unavoidable delays should have been communicated ...

First time to Carribbean, … wanted some sea days. Night-prior hoteled over at Embassy in Miami airport, which was a disappointing experience. After taking Embassy's $10/pp transfer to the terminal, the trip started. Embarkation went like clockwork. Don't know why NCL encouraged us to print out our 'documents', as they were never asked for or viewed by anyone other than us. NCL did it ...

We went on this cruise to celebrate our Anniversary and Birthdays. To make it special, we booked a suite and overall, we really had a wonderful time. To keep this short and sweet - the best highlights. - booking a suite is definitely worth it! From having a butler, a big room with a gorgeous balcony to having amazing perks like daily afternoon snacks, priority seating, embarkation and ...

I am a 40 something housewife and mother of 4 teens from central Virginia. We stayed the night before embarkation in Miami at the even hotel. It was a very nice hotel, and definitely catered to fitness minded people. It was decently priced, and not too far from downtown Miami and the cruise port. We got overcharged by a cab driver, know exactly where you want to go and use your own gps to keep ...

Every cruise has a hiccup or 2 and this was no exception. A cabin too warm on embarkation day, an under cooked dinner and mediocre service on occasion were not going to ruin our trip Lack of ADA shore excursions was an issue. By the looks of the number of walkers, wheelchairs and scooters on board should tell NCL that they need to cater excursions that accommodate them We had a suite with a ...

I like to cruise with NCL. The NCL Star was recently refurbished and was a beautiful ship. The staff were great and very helpful, always ready to go the extra mile. There were some good shows onboard. Food in the Versailles main dining room was excellent. I upgraded to a balcony room, and would do that again. Our cabin was roomy and having the outdoor private space was wonderfu. The only ...

We recommend Curacao. It had great beaches, clear water, warm water and the temperature was not too hot during our cruise. St. Thomas and St. Martin were still recovering from hurricane damage but our beach excursions were nice. We enjoyed the onboard shows and recommend them. The food was not as good as Carnival in my opinion. Our favorite place was Sheehan's. We also enjoyed eating ...

My wife and I sailed with the Star to the Caribbean. We had a good time, meet new friends and enjoyed the cruise. We had a small issue with our cabin. After embarkation in Jamaica, the crew did not tie up the ramp properly. We had 2 nights at sea with a lot of noise. Then after visiting Aruba, the ramp was tied up properly and the noise disappeared. The problem came back after the next ...

Although we were one of the youngest couples on the cruise (and we are mid 50’s) it was a fantastic cruise. The staff were friendly and attentive. The ship was clean. Loved the Cruise Director, Roberto, and his staff. As always we stayed mid-ship in an inside cabin. We were in cabin 9613. No complaints other than every night in the middle of the night, the engine made extremely loud noise and ...
