Very nice cruise in spite of bad weather.
"Our server was nice and efficient but It was by NO means fine dining service it was delivered in the same manner as the MDR and other Specialty restaurants. On our dinner visit our server and assistants were so rushed he was literally throwing items on the table, drink orders unfilled, slamming dishes in the bus cart behind us, serving wrong dishes, forgot main entree order and had to wait for it to return, apologizing to all guests saying he was so busy and short staffed...."Read More

We choose this cruise because of the opportunity to visit Greenland for the first time and return to Iceland which we had seen on an NCL cruise 5 years ago but not on the Star but on the Gem. We were concerned that the ship was much smaller and older then the ships we typically travel but because of the ports we decided to book it. By the time of our cruise we were aware the last scheduled ...

We (groop of 7) booked the cruise from Iceland to Greenland on NCL Star. The cruise is very expensive comparing to other destinations. The expectation was very high as well as our disappointment of the cruise. 2 ports were cancelled due to whether/sea conditions. It is privilige of the captain and we cannot judge if his decision was justified or not. But we understood thia is not rare ...

Norther Europe (Greenland and Iceland) itinerary wrongly designed. We did not visited all scheduled ports

In 2019 a similar itinerary on the NCL Spirit was also not achieved. We did not visit Iceland. Then this time we decided to take a cruise from Iceland itself. Well, our first cruise after the pandemic and after two years planning, we took the NCL Star from Reykjavik to visit 3 ports in Greenland and 3 ports in Iceland. Itinerary timing is wrongly designed because at these latitudes, the weather ...

Avoid this ship

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Norwegian Star

This is the ship that Norwegian chooses to send to the arctic and to the antarctic. They should not. It's a below average ship, maybe similar to the ones carnival uses for its bargain cruises. The food is somewhere between mediocre (on the high end) and palatable. It is bland, and the ingredients are of poor quality. When the highlight of every meal is the soup, something is off. But ...

NCL -- Frustrating, Stressful, Debilitating Cruise

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Norwegian Star

My partner and I chose this NCL rather expensive cruise because half of the 11-day cruise time was to be spent in Greenland. When we were checking in at the cruise terminal at Reykjavík, we got our first unpleasant surprise of the cruise, The Captain had cancelled all the Greenland ports and was taking the ship to Norway before heading back to Iceland for the last 4 days of the cruise. If we had ...

We chose Norwegian Star as it was going to northern Norway and one of our group was particularly keen to visit the North Cape. Whilst my wife and I are regular cruisers (we average 2 a year) the reminder of our group were either novices or had cruised once before. There were 6 of us in total and we joined the ship in Copenhagen, embarkation was relatively painless and despite the check in area ...
