NCL Star Cruise to Nowhere 3/23/12

My wife and I got home about an hour ago. Had a great time on the Star. First time on NCL for me. She had cruised NCL once before. Very impressed with the ship overall. Loved the embarkation process. They have the boarding kiosks ondeck and had multiple entries onto the ship so there were no long lines. They did similar process for debarkation. We just walked right off!! So easy. We had ...

Not a Good Star!

OK so it was not the best cruise. We stayed at the Crown Plaza Port of LA. It was a small good hotel for the night. Cheap too! We took a few buck taxi ride to the port. The port was dirty and terrible. It was so outdated! We had a 3 hour delay at the port!! So much for a fun day... The bad: the staff was rude and not helpful, embarkation was horrific, and entertainment was lousy and cheap! The ...

Mixed feelings about NCL & the Star

We took the one night cruise out of LA this past Friday on the NCL Star. It was a good opportunity to check out the ship. We have the Star booked for the May reposition cruise to Alaska. Realizing that it was a booze cruise type of trip our expectations were not that high. So our disappointment with this cruise was not a total shocker. Embarkation was a nightmare starting with ...

Background I wanted to do a different kind of cruise, so booked a pacific coastal repositioning cruise, Vancouver to Los Angeles. We had cruised with NCL in the past and were happy, so went with the Star. Decided to splurge and get a suite, albeit the lowest category, AE. Boarding There was another ship in port at the same time, and the line to security was quite long, took about an hour there. ...

In September I took the repositioning cruise between Vancouver and Los Angeles. This was my first cruise experience (birthday present) and I traveled solo - my husband is a teacher so he couldn't go, but we have already booked an Alaska cruise this summer on NCL. I booked so late (within 6 weeks of departure) that I was able to get a balcony stateroom for the same rate as double occupancy. so I ...

This is my review of our wonderful trip to Hawaii and cruise on the NCL Star 04-04-04. We are a 38 and 39 year-old couple and their daughter Kayla age 8, (going on 18).... It was our second cruise - our first was summer 2002 in Alaska on the RCCI Legend of the Seas. This was our third trip to Hawaii, and I thought the cruise was a wonderful new way to see our favorite places and some new ones, ...

NCL Star March 21 - 28 , 2004 After reading for months the reviews and observation other had on the NCL Star, I thought it only fair to voice my opinions. This was our eighth cruise, our first on NCL, so we have had some experiences in cruising, most of which have been good. We arrived in Honolulu on Friday, to allow time to get over some of the jet lag, and of course to enjoy the city. ...

From the time I began booking this cruise, I experienced nothing but argumentative, unhelpful service from the NCL staff. Once the cruise was booked, they messed up the reservation and then told me that if I wanted it altered to what I had originally requested, there would be additional charges. I ended up canceling the NCL flight portion and booking the flight myself. When I returned from my ...

Ok here it is... a positive review from two early 30-somethings without kids. Enjoy! Pre-cruise - We arrived in Honolulu on 1/1 it was raining and that coupled with the holiday left us with not a lot to do but shop. We spent some time at the Ala Mohana center where we ate an excellent meal at The Pineapple Room, which is the more casual (and affordable) Alan Wong restaurant. Don't let its ...
