I have just disembarked from this Norwegian Spirit cruise that started in Southampton on 27th September and was supposed to call at Ijmuiden for Amsterdam then on to Bergen, Flam and Geiranger in Norway before heading off to Iceland to visit Akureyri and Reykjavik then on to Belfast and Dublin before returning to Southampton. Prior to departure from Southampton passengers were informed that due to ...
We were on the Spirit for the Norway/Iceland/Ireland itinerary in late Sept/early Oct. 2019. Due to Hurricane Lorenzo moving up from the Gulf, there were several changes in our itinerary. It resulted in some people on the ship getting bent out of shape, and vocal demonstrations. When you stepped back to look at it, most of the changes were reasonable due to weather, but Norwegian could have ...
Looking forward to Amsterdam and Iceland. Booked >400 days before the sail date. We had 4 fabulous days in London before sailing. We planned private excursions at every port at great expense. Embarkation went smoothly since I'm a gold latitudes member. The ship had only 2018 passengers and was in need of upgrading. The cabin was small. Meals at the paid restaurants were excellent. Other than ...
Norwegian Spirit - “Iceland and Mystical Fjords “ - Sept 2019. Accompanied by my wife and son.
We booked this cruise mostly because of Iceland (never been), but was also pleased to hopefully re-visit Norway, Amsterdam, and Ireland. With all the changes and cancellations we were certainly disappointed and frustrated, but honestly I can’t fault the crew nor the ship.
The news articles were ...
Chosen for ports of call. Great destinations. However the ship is worn down. The food is substandard compared to competitors. Many of the workers did not now how to charge versus packages. We were overcharged many times and had to go to guest services to get charges fixed. This was do to employed not knowing benefit package allowances. Smoking is still allowed in many areas mainly casino just ...
Research will tell you that Spirit was built in 1996 and updated in 2017. Don't be fooled...this is an old ship. Public spaces are very dated and balcony staterooms are painfully small. There were random odors around the ship, including (as reported by fellow cruisers) in some of the cabins. Our cabin had bedbugs. There are almost no places to enjoy a cocktail with a view of a window other than in ...
The itinerary was the main reason we choose this cruise. Never have been on a NCL ship before but have cruised many times
Dining options were good, food was tasty and portions sizes were appropriate. Did not try the speciality options. The room service was very good, our room was always clean and neat.
The entertainment was pretty good, magicians and acrobats were very good.
This is ...
We chose this cruise because we wanted to experience Europe and we were planning on spending extra time in Sweden which was its final destination. We started in London and spent an extra day there enjoying the sites. Once the cruise started we had many wonderful shore excursions and a couple of trips that could have been better(Copenhagen and Helsinki) and that was because of the guides. It was ...
We chose this cruise because of the itinerary. The opportunity to go to the Baltic Sea and visit 13 countries in 15 days was extraordinary. Aside from the rather whirlwind aspect of this type of schedule, we still view the chance to see these amazing historical countries as incredibly unique. For this, the captain's finesse with driving the ship, Ella, our patient steward, and Willie, the Raffles ...
We had a relaxing time on Norwegian Spirit. Great itinerary. Good restaurants and service staff. Our cabin was comfortable and clean although dated and the toilet had a smell that wasn’t pleasant no matter how often it was cleaned.
Buffet was fine but not happy wth pushy people who don’t know how to queue and while the food was usually ok it was all very salty. I preferred the dining rooms. I ...
