Be aware, what NCL advertises is not what you get on your cruise with the Pearl. Some rather surprising mess-ups included:

The Pearl is a good sized ship with enough lounges and other seating areas in around that it never felt too crowded. We were really glad that we purchased the Thermal Spa package as they only sell 84 of them and we felt with the unlimited times you could go, it was well worth the $119 for the five days. In the last 24 months we have cruised on the Sun, Star and Pearl. In my opinion, the Pearl is the best, closely followed by the Sun and the Star is last.
Embarkation: I arrived at the dock too early! People were still disembarking so the embarkation process was not open. At 11 AM the embarkation process began and we were on the Pearl by 11:15.

First off, I have to mention how disappointed we were when NCL cancelled the advertised port city of San Francisco shortly after we made our final payment and could no longer cancel. I see how many people love the Pearl, so I wonder if we just had bad luck, in part due to terrible weather. I've traveled on the Oosterdam and the Epic, and both were superior to the Pearl. The Pearl seemed pretty middle of the road to me.

Repositioning cruises offer great value for the money. People tend to not like flying one way and rarely does one live out of the city the cruise leaves or arrives from.
