Nice common areas on deck - appreciated the stage area in a central spot that was consistent with music and entertainment throughout sea days and in the afternoons as cruisers were returning to the ship.

Very Average Ship

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

This was our first cruise on Norwegian. The room was very small compared to other ships I've been on. This was not a luxury-appointed ship - very basic. The ship store was very, very small with very little in it. The entertainment was average, at best. This particular cruise had a Nickelodean theme and therefore I think it was more family-oriented. Food was average. There was more than the ...

Traveled with spouse, son, and daughter over spring break. We came into Houston the night before and stayed at the Marriot South(?) near Hobby. We took a taxi the next morning to Houston Terminal. It cost us $65 for the ride. Embarkation was not too bad. This was our second NCL cruise(3 of us) and we were in 2 average cabins. Therefore, no perks that gave us priority boarding. Nevertheless, the ...

Family of 4, dh (32), ds (11), dd (9) and myself (32) on our second cruise. First was with Carnival...I didn't want to compare the two lines, but in all honesty, it is very hard not to. Embarkation/Disembarkation Fast, easy and efficient. No complaints whatsoever. Cabin Yes, this was an inside room, but wow, I guess I just didn't realize how poorly set up it would be. The pullout ...

We noticed immediately that cruise companies cater to people who like gamble and smoke because on the Jewel, Deck 6 is where the casino is located. And adjacent to the casino was the theater, the smoke would invade into that area and it would be very uncomfortable. Another area that made us uncomfortable was on Deck 12 near the Spa where the ladies who hang out like "hookers" enticing you into ...

This is probably our 20th cruise. This is our first Norwegian Cruise Line trip. We bought the all inclusive package with tips included. Our room was nice and the room steward was nice- but average. Our waiters at dinner where pretty good but we ate at the fine dining restaurants every night. My big concern was the archaic system for paying (which ironically, we did not have to pay because we ...

I feel a little guilty only giving 3 stars - since we had a great trip. But I just finished the Norwegian survey and realized that there was really more wrong with this ship than I thought. Every cruiser feels they are an expert - I read most reviews from this trip and disagreed with much of the criticism - so really - you need to keep an open mind when you read the reviews. Keep in mind your ...

We decided due to the reviews to sail Norwegian Cruise lines this go around. We decided to ask some friends to cruise with us, and unfortunately it was a bit of a disappointment for us. I have cruised 5 times and my wife now 3 times. Our guests had cruised a couple of times. The ship was decent, appointed and nice looking. It is cast as a "Freestyle" cruise and we had hoped for more from it. ...

This was my husband and I's first time aboard any of the Norwegian boats and our second cruise. Our first cruise was with Carnival Pride and we sailed with a group of friends. On this particular cruise, we sailed alone. This review will be a comparison and overall review of our time aboard the Jewel. We flew in the day of the cruise and had some friends pick us up from the airport so I cannot ...

EMBARKATION My wife and I took this cruise the last week of March 2015 out of Houston with my brother and his wife. We drove in early Saturday morning from East of New Orleans and arriving around 9:15am were one of the first one's there at the terminal. Currently only two ships use this terminal, it was very nice and easy to navigate. I parked literally in the first row next to drop-off, ...

Just came back from our 7 night cruise out of Bayport Houston to the Western Caribbean. We set sail on March 28th 2015. The embarkation process was real smooth. We got there pretty early, around 10:30 and there were lots of people already there. The lines move fast and before you know it, you are aboard the ship. We happened to bring a case of water, which the porters will not bring onto the ship. ...
