"We are a family of four from Long Island, New York, cruising on NCL for the 5th time. We were on the NCL Gem's June 5th cruise to Split, Corfu, Santorini, Mykonos and Iraklion. For a reasonable step-up fee, we were..."Read More

1-10 of 74 Norwegian Gem Cruise Reviews for Fitness Cruises to Europe - Eastern Mediterranean
The NCL Gem is a really nice ship that bridges older ships like the Dawn with the newer Breakaway class ships. It has some newer features like a rock wall, but at the same time, it features the get to know you atmosphere with the crew that only a small ship can. I highly recommend this ship!
This was such an amazing cruise because of the itinerary especially! The ship itself though was also ...
This was one of our best vacations ever. My wife and I have cruised before, but it was the first time for our daughter. She is 10 years old, and after countless and I mean countless trips to Disney we need a Mickey break. So we booked The Norwegian Gem, we got a fantastic price and my wife hates to fly. So leaving out of New York is easy because we live in South Jersey. Embarkation was so easy, ...
We arrived at the Pier at 10:15am, gave our luggage to a porter and walked right through the security gates without a problem, we went through the Latitudes line in 5 minutes, checked in and were sitting in the lounge area at 10:35am waiting for the call to enter the ship..At 12 Noon we were called by numbers we had number 10 and boarded the ship. It was an easy process, no hassle, no worry quick ...
Just arrived back from 10 day trip on Gem out of NY to southern Caribbean (5 ports). NCL does this cruise 4 times a year. Right up front I will say our last cruise was on Princess and received last minute free upgrade to mini-suite, so hard to compare with inside cabin on this trip. This trip was educational conference so wanted to try and stay within budget with inside cabin, now regret ...
We took this 14 day cruise to celebrate our 20th Anniversary and my 60th birthday. While we have sailed on Norwegian many times, this was our first experience on a "jewel" class ship. The Gem is beautiful but the balcony cabins are small compared to the last ship we were on (The Sun) and the bathroom bordered on ridiculous. If you have any physical limitations, I would recommend getting a cabin ...
We had planned this Cruise for over a year and NCL did not disappoint us. We had spent some time in wonderful Venice. We got near the port and we found out that there was a "secret NCL" bus that would take us directly to the ship. The only markings on the bus was a small handwritten note saying "NCL". Word to the wise-do not overpack-shlepping heavy suitcases on trains, busses & water taxis is not ...
We just returned from the October 16-23rd sailing of the NCL Gem from
Venice. I was somewhat apprehensive given the range of reviews - we decided to "see for ourselves". I'm glad we did! We had a fabulous time!
EMBARKATION: We arrived around 2pm. The arrival hall was basically empty so we were checked in and on the ship in 10 minutes flat. The cabin was ready so we didn't have to go to ...
Embarkation: No waiting (we arrived about 90 minutes before sailing), very smooth. Quick luggage delivery to the cabin.
Ship: Very colorful and kitschy. Nice place is the SPA with splendid views. Comparing to other ships there is no "Atrium" and no real center of the ship.
Costs: On NCL you are often reminded to spend on add-ons like speciality restaurants, excursions, items in the ...
The cabin was small but nice and clean. The staff were very pleasant. The pros stop here.
I was disappointed from the get go. After speaking to NCL multiple times on the phone and asking over and over again about the different charges and asking if there were any additional fees or charges and told that there were none, I was very upset when I found out that there would be a $12 charge per ...
Fatest check-in of any cruise we have been on. Security photo taken at check-in, boarded the ship within about 30 minutes.Staterooms were not yet ready, as advised, but could avail ourselves of the public rooms and lunch.
The cabin slightly smaller than others, found the toilet section to be very cramped, even though we are both thin. Service in the main dining room was slow, food not the high ...
