The Great Outdoors. Has a nice size bar and buffet. Best of all, it's own soft-serve ice machine.

Disappointing

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Norwegian Gem

We took the cruise because of our interest in the Greek islands and the ports in Turkey Two of my siblings and their spouses were excited for our 10 cruise. However our expectations were not met My overall rating for the cruise is slightly below average. The food was average at best; they had no idea on how to cook their meat entrees. Every meat entree was over cooked, except for the steak we ...

So disappointing

It pains me to write this as my husband and I have taken multiple NCL cruises and have always been pleased. While the ports of call were wonderful, almost everything else lacked. The ship is dated, and needs improvement (the toilets are all especially stained). But most importantly, the staff was very inconsistent. We had an excellent room attendant, and did have a few good servers, but overall ...

Lackluster experience on 11 day Gem Cruise

I chose this cruise primarily because of the itinerary stopping in Spain and Portugal. It was our first cruise on Norwegian. We were immediately struck with how crowded the buffet area was and lack of any seating. We never did find seating in the buffet area the entire 11 day trip. We sat in the Italian specialty restaurant or out by the pool. We tried sit down breakfasts several mornings and the ...

Poor service, no atmosphere.

We picked this cruise because we cruised with Norwegian on the Spirit in 2018. The food was average at best, breakfast was worst, the best meal we had was Tappenyaki which we paid extra for. The smell on the corridors was awful almost like effluent. Some staff were OK but that was only a few, many looked like they didn't want to be there and it was hard for them to crack a smile. The ...

Poor food and service

We chose NCL for the 1st time because Princess are not going to Croatian ports in 2023. The food in the main dining rooms was cold, tasteless and we found the service very poor. We had to wait for over an hour to get the NCL buses to and from most ports. There were chaotic scenes when we disembarked with buses trying g to turn whilst taxis were parking and leaving almost running over the ...

Terrible food, average service. NCL has gone downhill since COVID

We choose this cruise as we had previously sailed on the Norwegian Dawn in Nov 2019 and whilst it wasn't the best, we sailed on NCL again as we found a good offer. This cruise was very poor. The service was terrible - only men were treated well and addressed as sir and acknowledged at bars. Every time I smiled or spoke to bartenders, they were cold or served others first. Everyone seemed to have ...

Transatlantic/ Mediterranean back to back

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Norwegian Gem

This was our 5th transatlantic and 1st back to back cruise. Things have improved in NYC terminal as far as organization of embarking passengers. We had a "balcony" cabin (somewhat smaller than what we have had in the past) which was fine. The food/bar and housecleaning/general staff went above and beyond and are second to none. Problems we encountered was with guest services and administration. ...

We have just returned from a two week cruise from Venice to the Greek Islands, Croatia and Turkey. I travelled with my husband, teenage son and parents who had previously cruised with NCL. This was our seventh cruise and first (and last) with NCL. On our first night we dined in the Grand Pacific dining room. The meal was very salty and inedible. Three out of five meals were untouched. On other ...

Norwegian GEM Back to Back - Venice August/September 2010 This was our 6th NCL cruise, the last one being Alaska on Pearl in 2007. MY GOODNESS - how has NCL gone so downmarket?! Bingo, bingo, bingo - UUUGHHHHHH ! Money grabbing all over the place. Cruise Director overly patronising on first week - so he spoke 7 languages - bully for him - EVERY damn announcment was over the intercom in all 7 ...

Disappointed with NCL

We were on the Gem that departed Venice 7/17/10. Actually, the first 2 nights were spent in Venice. The timing was great as there was a festival going on, and we we were able to witness a spectacular fireworks display from the deck. The ship itself is beautiful, and out stateroom was adequate. We had a balconey. The shower was large and powerful. Had a seperate area for the toilet which was ...
