New England Foliage (River) Cruise September 10th -17th, 2023 - or how to float in the NYC Harbor
"Since the crew had more experience with weather and knew more about marine safety I'm thinking they won, but there were some very imaginative and wistful plans from passengers (reverse the ports and go to Canada first and sail back to NY into the storm: safe harbor in Boston after having gone to Canada getting at least an additional day on the cruise, or the most optimistic one - What Hurricane, we aren't going to be effected at all).I live in upstate NY - I go out my back door and the Hudson River is right there and this river is picturesque and serene - I almost wish that they were able to take the ship a little farther up the Hudson - say to West Point and float there to really get a picture of the river- but I did have a great view of the skyline and the Lady Liberty in the distance out my cabin window...."Read More

I chose this cruise for the itinerary and dates of travel. Ports of call were all wonderful, we the exception of St John, NB. No excursion is required in any of the ports (except St John) if you’re willing to walk a bit, or navigate public transport. St John doesn’t have a much to offer after a quick wander and visit tot he old market. Might be worth an excursion to Hopewell Rocks… Escape - ...

We are a retired couple and this was our 7th cruise with NCL. Making this cruise our 21st. We had an inside cabin. We hadn’t cruised since 2014 on NCL. We live in New York State so we thought it would be a great starting port. We flew into JFK the day of the cruise. Arrived with no issues at 7:00AM. We bought transfers because I thought it would be a safer way to the port. ...

Lately I have only been cruising on NCL because I normally travel alone and stay in the Haven. However this trip I went with a friend so I had a Club Balcony Stateroom. The following is my review: Stateroom: Absolutely terrible, the description said it sleeps 4, it barely fits one person in the room…..sleeps 3 is pushing it. The mattress was hard, the pillows left me with a stiff neck or a ...

Good First Time Cruise

We chose NCL based on word of mouth from reviews and family. We wanted to leave from New York and we're hoping to visit Canada. We had already visited some of the places on the itinerary so top advantage of those days to explore the Escape since it was our first cruise. We stayed in a Balcony Suite on the 12th floor and were very pleased with the size and comfort of the room. You did not feel ...

I give it 4 stars, but there were plenty of aggravations

Let me start with a broad statement; I really am not crazy about the NCL Breakaway and similar ships. I've done Breakaway, Bliss and now Escape (my wife has also done Joy). I absolutely hate that the Atrium is the place for virtually all "game shows" and on cooler weather cruises, is the site of the glow party and other dance parties. IT IS TOO SMALL. The Escape doesn't have an alternative ...

Loved the Ship and the Cruise, the fellow passengers not so much

We did almost the same itinerary in 2018 on the Escape and loved it, this trip added Newport R.I. Check-in and boarding was a breeze, no issues at all. Balcony stateroom was just as expected and perfectly clean. The steward was polite and made sure we were taken care of. Dining was great, no issues at all with service or quality of the food. Dinner twice at La Cucina, once at Cagney's and ...

First of all this is not a criticism - we enjoyed our cruise and the Escape is a lovely ship. The weather is never something that can be predicted and/or avoided. Highlights of the cruise included embarkation that was flawless, on the ship by 11:30AM rooms were ready at 2:30PM. And then the weather hit. Flight delays and cancellations for many booked passengers, due to east coast weather and ...

Just an average cruise

Just to start, my family and I are typically Haven-ites when it comes to NCL but we did not have the opportunity this time. The main objective was to visit New England states and Canada. We booked a family club suite (M4) and also the Vibe. We like the exclusivity from the bigger crowds. Upon boarding, we decided on Osheehan's for lunch and wings were on our minds. They were baked and not well ...

sailed out of ny to maine and canada. it took over an hour to get on the ship, and the rooms were not ready until 3 pm. we were in a mini suite and recieved none of the extras we were suppose to get. , daily treats, coffee and tea maker, robes, pre cruise reservations. the only thing we got was a bottle of wine. went to guest services , the worst experiance on any ship i have been on ( 8 cruises). ...

We are avid cruisers. The ship was beautiful, clean, alive with activities and the staff was AMAZING! Staff was amazing helping me with my Keto diet!! Above and beyond helpful!!! I could easily order meals without carbs, but it was sad to have no dessert. Sugar Free is different from Carb Free. So I spoke to the head chef, and he assigned an assistant maitre’d to help me. They ended up ...
