Disappointing Cruise

Review for a Canada & New England Cruise on Norwegian Escape

We just finished the Norwegian Escape this week. We were very disappointed overall. We usually cruise with Royal Caribbean and thought they would be comparable. We did not find that to be the case at all. Let’s start with the positives. The cruise itinerary was pretty phenomenal. We loved 4 out of the 5 stops we made. Newport Rhode Island was a darling and phenomenal stop. We would love to ...

Crowded cruise with people who blew off hand washing & hand sanitizing stations

This was my 2nd NCL cruise. I was spoiled since my first cruise was summer 2021 when passenger capacity was 50% & cleanliness was a high priority. I just returned from an NCL New England cruise out of NYC & have tested positive for Covid, in spite of wearing a mask virtually the entire time I was indoors & constantly washing my hands & using hand sanitizer. The cleanliness in public areas ...

It’s been a while since I’ve traveled on NCL and it’s not the same. Took the NCL Escape for a “7” night cruise to New England and Canada. 1st stop Newport dreary and raining, Didn’t really get to see much as the weather didn’t corporate. 2nd stop Portland, with No excursion planed visited the surrounding area by the port. Little of any major sites nearby. 3rd stop Bar Harbor, took the ...

IF drinking and gambling is a priority then this is your cruise

If you want good food select the premium meal plan. The standard fair is just fair. If you want great entrainment go to Disney. Other than choir of Man, singers were pitchy and mumbled. Mentalist show was good but short and slow. Rooms and staff were great. Jeff cruise director was a little annoying. They also spend a lot of time introducing staff. This seemed like a waste of ...

Have sailed NCL many times and it has always been one of my favorites. But the Escape is in need of a refresh, ship was run down, furniture, paint, cabins, overall, in shabby condition. Ship was very short staffed and you could feel it. The usual friendly, smiling service was missing, the limited staff is likely overworked and tired. Bar staff was almost rude with their kurt replies and ignoring ...

Smokers Cruise, Others be Warned

NCL did a great job of avoiding Hurricane Lee. It was fine that we had to seek safe harbor in NY for the last 3 days of our cruise. The food was great, Choir of Man was fabulous and the staff worked hard to keep us comfortable. However, we encountered some serious problems. #1 was the InEscapable Smoke Cloud on the Escape, no matter where we went on the ship. Bars, Lounges, inside, ...

New England and Canada Cruise from New York

This cruise was chosen to be a great way to see Canada and a few Maine ports. Overall, the cruise left a lot to be desired. As I read the last two reviews of this cruise, I am in full agreement. On the cruise, a group of 1000+ passengers were part of a group called Joanie Madden. They were on board for an Irish music cruise. This was never disclosed to any of the other passengers prior to ...

We were invited to go with a group of friends. We were a group of eight. This would be our first cruise. We spent a few days in NYC at Crown Plaza in Times Square. Hotel was okay, location was great! Though we all had downloaded the Norwegian app, we found out through some people we met the ship would be late. No notification from Norwegian about this. We delayed going to the port about two ...

Ports great, cruise not so much

I choose this cruise to see fall colors and visit the Maine and Canadian ports, which were great. The cruise on the other had was not great for me. It was far too large of a ship, very crowded, and there were virtually no quiet spaces other than on our stateroom deck. I felt like I was trapped in a casino/shopping mall/disco, with far too many people. Positives: a great gym, with great staff. ...

Haven on NCL Escape

We have been on many NCL cruises usually in a balcony cabin. NCL tends to nickel and dime its passengers on most items. Free perks are not really free as you are required to pay a 20% gratuity unlike Celebrity cruises where its totally free. Alcoholic beverage packages do not cover tee, coffee or water unlike Celebrity where you get a better deal covering all drinks for one competitive price. The ...
