Great Ports but Different Experience Onboard

Review for Norwegian Epic to Caribbean - Southern

We were excited to try a new ship and new cruise route. First thing we noticed when going to our cabin was there were no fish swimming forward on the carpet! That is a staple on all NCL ships except this one. Minor detail but it helps at the end of a long day to help get you back to your cabin when you are exhausted. The ship design was choppy. Floors abruptly ended and later found out ...

Third time's a charm!

This was our (my wife and myself's) third time on the Epic in as many years. The date and port were perfect and the Epic was available for sailing. There is only one gripe and an immense amount of compliments I could give the staff and ship. Let's get the gripe out of the way. During day one and two there was one, yes one, staff member roaming the lounge chair area taking drink orders in Spice ...

Embrakment was easy and organized. We had a balcony room lots of room for two people and storage for clothes. Dining was great. Had most meals at buffet garden cafe buffet, Cagney steakhouse, Japanese hibachi and braizilian steakhouse. Service was wonderful. Guaranteed you won’t go hungry. Don’t forget to have room service at least for a late night pizza snack. Ports of call are a way to stretch ...

Worst cruise ship ever.

Review for Norwegian Epic to Caribbean - Southern

Never having taken an NCL Cruise we were looking forward to trying Freestyle cruising. From the very start it was a disaster. Tiniest room we’ve ever had, terrible lighting. Way too many people for the commons areas, elevators etc... lines for EVERYTHING. No outdoor space, no way to stroll the decks...no outside decks not crammed with stuff. Even trying to get off the ship was a nightmare, we had ...

Don't sail Epic or from Port Canaveral

Review for Norwegian Epic to Caribbean - Southern

Elevators were a total disaster! More later. Disembarkation at Port Canaveral was a disaster. Full cruise package for Internet was a rip-off. Frequently simple news pages would not load at all. Availability of information before and during was poor. There was almost no description of shows. Instructions of how to use amenities was sparse of totally non-existent. Food was mostly good, ...

Bigger Ain't Better

Review for Norwegian Epic to Caribbean - Southern

This was our 4th cruise together (with my better half having 4 more) and we all agreed that it will be the LAST cruise on this size ship. "Bigger ain't better", as the saying should go. Let's start with the ship itself. It's dark. It's loud. Oh, and it's big. Basically the ship is a design disaster. Lines were everywhere. We lined up to: eat dinner, to get drinks, to even see shows. ...

Dirty room, bad bar service

Hubby heard it was good so we tried it. I really hated it but he made peace with it since it was his idea. Almost impossible to get a drink within 15 minutes. Had to wait over 1/2 hour at poolbar. Could not ever get seated at O'Sheehans without a wait with a pager( 30-45 minutes) although many empty tables near the pool tables. All bars were understaffed. Only 1 bartender at casino bar at ...

Norwegian Epic an EPIC Fail

We chose Norwegian because this was a family trip and we had sailed on Norwegian several times before. We have also cruised on other lines such as Celebrity, Windstar, Holland America, Regent and AMA. I was somewhat anxious when we booked the cruise because the ship is so large, but it was for a family vacation so I thought it would be okay. One of the reasons we chose Norwegian is for the ...

Unusual ship design

Review for Norwegian Epic to Caribbean - Southern

We chose this cruise for the good incentives, it was a Norwegian ship that we had not sailed before and it left at a different port than we had experienced before. Port Canaveral was great. It was easy to embark the ship, there were the usual lines, but things kept moving and it was well organized. The ships design IS AWFUL. The designers "pranked" the public with the cabin design. The ...

Highly Disappointed Loyal NCL Cruiser

My husband and I wanted to take our 3 children and nephew on a pre-Christmas cruise. We had the 2 bedroom villa in the Haven and my son and nephew had a balcony cabin. The staff was not nearly as friendly compared to the previous cruises we’ve taken with NCL. This was our 3rd time getting the 2 bedroom villa in the Haven. My daughter and I decided to go up to the Haven’s private area where it was ...
