Probably my first and last NCL cruise

Review for a Caribbean - All Cruise on Norwegian Epic

After doing two cruises pre-Covid we thought we’d try NCL for the first time. I probably won’t go back. Pros: Food was very good, liked how it sailed out of Puerto Rico (so got to spend a day/night prior to sailing), with the exception of the DR, all ports were great, and felt the ship was generally very clean. Also liked how it disembarked in NYC as the final port, although please read about ...

Not an EPIC failure, but not all roses either

This was our 8th NCL cruise and we selected this one for the Itinerary!! The Itinerary did not disappoint! The EPIC however, is not the typical NCL ship, nor the typical experience we have had on 7 other NCL cruises. First off, service on NCL has always been a high point and fortunately that has not changed. However, despite the wonderful smiles and attentive service, you can tell that the ...

Norwegian Epic Review 7 Day Southern Caribbean Week of 3/12/23-3/19/23 I just returned from a 7 day Spring Break cruise on Norwegian Epic, Here are my thoughts on the trip. I will break it down into a few different categories. I am sorry, but this is a long review. Norwegian Sea-Air Program. Since the ship sailed out of San Juan we used the Sea-Air promotion as it was a good deal to get ...

The OK and the BAD on the Epic

This was our 5th NCL cruise and 12th overall. I did my research so I knew what I was getting into by choosing this ship but we went for this itinerary as we had never visited the ABC islands. I cancelled the Celebrity Millenium to go on the Epic to save a few bucks and use my CruiseNext deposits. Possibly not the best choice .... Overall, it seemed apparent that NCL is cutting corners. Long ...

Ports and staff were great. Getting a drink, even water, was terrible

Review for a Caribbean - All Cruise on Norwegian Epic

Everything was good except the drink situation. I was told not to drink the water in the room. They do not give you water except tap water on deck 15 so I would have to go to deck 15 morning and night to take my meds. I had to wait in line over 40 minutes even for a diet cola. Please add more bars and bar staff for alcoholic drinks and set up drink stations for soft drinks. Only once in ...

Soot, oil, rust and smell

We cruised on Epic in the med in 2018 and when we saw this itinerary and the airfare special we started planning. On to the Soot and stuff....When we embarked at 2:00 we headed up to the adult pool area for a drink and to enjoy the San Juan sunshine. I noted that the floors were pretty badly stained and littered with rust. We realized what it was and mentioned it to the bar staff (priorities ...

Haven is always great - but this is not a great ship

Review for a Caribbean - All Cruise on Norwegian Epic

We had previously sailed on the NCL Escape and had such an amazing experience at the Haven that we tried out the Epic. I was nervous going into it after reading all of these reviews and can see that there is merit in a lot of the feedback so this is a bit more geared towards both the ship and the Haven experience. We sailed as a family of five - with kids aged 5 / 7 / 9 - and stayed in the ...

Free Airfare made it worth it, but barely

We wanted to spend NYS Schools’ FEB Break in the Tropics, with great dive/snorkeling locations. The 2nd Guest Sails and Flies Free made it worth it. All in, our up front cost was $2K, which included airfare from Syracuse, NY to San Juan, PR. We did not do the 2nd guest free drinking package as it still would’ve been $109 + tax + $22 for each day. We also spent around $850 on the Epic on 2 ...

Nice ship but awkward layout

Review for a Caribbean - All Cruise on Norwegian Epic

The ship was nice. The food was good. The accommodations were good. But bar service was terrible out on the pool deck. It was a 15-20 minute wait to get a drink most of the time. This was all week long. I'm not sure if it was because there were just so many people and everyone had the drinks included package or what. Inside bars weren't as bad but there aren't any close to the pool deck. The very ...

Epic is not so Epic!

The one reason we choose this cruise was for the itinerary - that would be the only reason I would ever pick it again! Knowing that it was built in 2010 and refurbished in 2015 it certainly looks it. A very closed in feeling compared to the other NCL ships we have been on in the past - Bliss, Dawn, etc. It is time to either to send it to the cruise ship graveyard or refurbish but nothing could ...
