Excellent Encore

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Norwegian Encore

The cruise was chosen for destination and length of cruise I wasn’t sure how the 21 day cruise would be seeing I had not been on a ship for this lengthy duration. It was wonderful. I found with the longer cruise I never felt rushed to fit everything in or over schedule my time. The Breakaway has far more outdoor deck space that can be enjoyed with relaxing furniture. There are outside ...

Panama Canal 21 day from Seattle to Miami Oct. 29 - Nov. 21

This cruise was very disappointing. Of all my past 18 cruises this was the worst. I had sailed Norwegian twice prior to COVID and it was very good. We were very disappointed in the lack of service and poor entertainment likely caused by Norwegians cost cutting measures. Entertainment in the theatre was not enjoyable due to the lack of quality performances, repeated performances, and the ...

Great Food and Service - Everything Else Mediocre at Best

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Norwegian Encore

First the good - food, service staff, and drink package included were all good to very good. Now the bad - WiFi was poor at best (non-existent most of the time). Tips were included and paid for as part of the package I booked (about $350 beyond the $1,800 for the cruise) but NCL now adds $20 per day per person for an additional almost $300 unexpected service charge that even my travel agent was ...

Norwegian Encore Alaska with Glacier Bay 22-29 Oct 2023

Booked short notice knowing this was the last sailing of the season, weather would likely be a factor, and port activities would be minimal. Figured we could enjoy the ship and view the wonders of Alaska in the fall. We previously cruised NCL Bliss in June 2022, Celebrity Millennium in May 2023 and visited each port but I had not seen Glacier Bay. I also thought fewer passengers would be onboard. ...

Puzzled about Poor Reviews

Its true that I dont have a lot of cruise experience and what I have (except for another cruise line in 2013) is post Covid but I am very puzzled about so many poor reviews of this ship. In my opinion, it was close to perfect. Yes, there were a few aspects about it that could have been improved. I will mention them throughout the review. The hardest part of this cruise for me was trying to ...

Our First Cruise… meh…

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Norwegian Encore

For so many years taking a cruise was something we were going to do “someday” when we retired. Well, someday came last September and the years of vague anticipation were more fun than the actual experience. The Good: Big, beautiful, clean facility. Size of the ship made the Iowa look like a rubber duck. Friendly, helpful staff, many making real effort to understand our English. The ...

Disappointing

My cruise isn’t over yet but I know this will be my last NCL cruise. I’ll try to be as objective as I can. Pros: - Newer ship. - Embarkation process was easy. - The Starbucks staffs are very friendly, efficient. Even when there’s a line it moves quickly. - The A-List bar outside of Los Lobos specialty dining was great. Spicy margaritas only served there and was excellent. - The ...

This cruise was a gift for my wife and me for our 20th anniversary of being Pastor of First Apostolic Church. Someone knew that we had always wanted to go on an Alaskan cruise but just couldn't afford it. So, that's how we chose the Alaskan cruise. We were on the Norwegian Encore, which, I believe, is the largest ship in the Norwegian fleet. It was extremely luxurious in every fashion: from ...

Very Disappointing/NCL Cost-Cutting Will Hurt Their Business

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Norwegian Encore

First off, we have gone on Norwegian twice before and both times were great. Out of the 10 cruises we have been on, this was by far the worst. It was evident that Norwegian has cut costs in many areas and the quality of the food/shows has really suffered. The ship also seemed to be short staffed, which made the service very poor as well. - Boarding: Very fast, the one positive about the ...

Denali Explorer - 5-Day Pre-Cruise Land Tour + 7-Day Alaska Cruise

The Conclusion first: Overall, I would not recommend the pre-cruise land tour. However, I would half-heartedly recommend the cruise itself. The Specifics Arrival at the airport/transportation: We flew Delta Airlines from Los Angeles to Fairbanks (with a two hour layover in Seattle). NCL provided us with economy seats which we later paid a small fee to upgrade. After arriving in ...
