Great crew, not my favorite ship

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Norwegian Breakaway

My mother and I chose this cruise because it sailed from New Orleans, and we wanted to see NOLA as well as take a cruise. We had previously sailed on the Norwegian Spirit on an Alaskan itinerary and loved it, so I didn't hesitate to book another Norwegian cruise. This ship is not the Norwegian Spirit, but there were aspects that I enjoyed: 1) The crew-- they were helpful and kind. They did ...

So, my new wife and I wanted to celebrate our 1st year wedding anniversary. We are in older years my wife 64, and me 72. we booked our trip 7 months in advance, of our anniversary. As we live in NW Florida, New Orleans was our departure point. We travelled the day before to be within a 20-mile radius of our day of our departure. Little did we know that our trip was in Spring Break. boarding was ...

First cruise with Norwegian. We’ve taken 3 others on Celebrity & Carnival. There were some good things about the cruise but many others that left us thinking it was just an average experience. Tot seems to depend on what you want. For kids maybe a good ship. If you like many nicer dining experiences maybe a good choice. If you like the loud pool scene they offer that. For us those aren’t ...

Cruising is not what it used to be

We chose the NCL Breakaway because we were in New Orleans for Mardi Gras and have sailed NCL many times before. It’s a beautiful ship but the venues are not capable of handling the number of passengers on board. The showroom is smaller than those on smaller ships and required reservations on the only floor show twice on two days during the week. The show BURN THE FLOOR was good but it was ...

Nothing special, just OK

Cabin is clean but small and a bit dated. Quality professional entertainment almost non existent or in too small venues for such a large ship Food Ok, neither bad nor something to write home about. Servers and cabin attendants friendly but over worked. Some of the admin staff could be friendly. STOLE $41 from me. Charged us for 24 bottles of water we received and the same day ...

This is my second cruise. I’m not an expert. My first cruise was a 4-day Mexico vacation on Royal Caribbean (RC). My wife and I wanted to get away. We picked Norwegian gateway out of New Orleans to go to the Caribbean. Embarkation day went smoothly, we picked a 2:30PM time slot and it took about 15 min between arriving at the terminal and getting on the ship. Our room (regular balcony) was ...

Understaffed and limited menu

I have sailed Norwegian several times and and enjoyed our trips. We found that the ship was understaffed in the dining room, and at the bars. The ship was full and it does not appear NCL planned for the volume of people. I rarely saw any any bar servers. The bartenders were often overwhelmed in the atrium. The dining room was slow for every meal. The food was hit or miss with some excellent ...

Not the best Cruise - Disappointed

This was my first Norwegian cruise. We have taken 10 Carnival cruises, 1 Princess, 1 MSC and 1 Disney. So, I am familiar with cruises. It was me, my husband and our two teens (12 and 15) We were expecting this to be nice, so maybe that is why I was so disappointed. And, it wasn't just one of the items I am pointing out- it was just a combination of everything that really disappointed me ...

Way too crowded and too many kids

Because it sailed out of New Orleans and I want to visit there. We went 2 days before the cruise and 1 day after. There were over 1000 kids and 4700 passengers. The atrium was always full and the activities were geared towards kids and families. The kids were running down the halls and making lots of noise in the halls. I see they have downgraded the food. There was no corned beef and cabbage for ...

We chose the cruise to sail with friends. We wanted to try the port of New Orleans and the price was right. First, the positive. The club balcony room was great. shower had lots of pressure and multiple jets, which really impressed the men. The sink area was spacious, with Teo faucets. Marvin, our steward, was accommodating and friendly. Food was good, and we enjoyed all the free dining rooms ...
