My husband and I recently embarked on the Norwegian Jewell Cruise to Asia with high expectations, but unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Several aspects of the cruise left much to be desired, prompting me to share this negative review.
1. Low-Quality Events: The onboard events and activities were disappointingly lackluster. From poorly executed shows to mundane ...
We sailed on the sister ship Jade last year and had a great cruise. The Jewel was a Big disappointment.
We should have cancelled before we left when two of the original ports of call were removed from the itinerary. We lost a further port Nha Trang as the seas were too choppy to tender in and a fourth port Langkawi, the tender process took so long that by the time we got on shore there wasn’t ...
Second time in Southeast Asia. First time on cruise. Second time on Norwegian. The only good thing on Norwegian is they hire great dancers and fairly good singers and great acrobats. This tired old ship was supposedly refurbished a few years ago in 2018 or so but doesn’t look upscale or nice at all. I can’t imagine what the pool with the large cartoon fish looked like before. Cruises now do not ...
Chose the cruise for its Alaskan itinerary, and because we had enjoyed our Pride of America Hawaiian cruise several years ago. This ship is more luxurious, but we preferred the informality of the POA.
The first problem we encountered was upon entering our cabin with an "oceanview picture window". The window was filthy with rust and salt spray between the panes, so the "view" was very ...
Think about the food this way: You will enjoy it if you liked what they served in your high school cafeteria! We did not enjoy the specialty restaurants either (we did Le Bistro and the “Brazilian Steakhouse”). The main dining room was only OK on a couple of nights. The Chin-Chin restaurant was horrible. Not a shrimp to be found on this ship. Smoked salmon? An extinct species. ...
I’m trying to write this while everything from this cruise is fresh in my mind (we returned yesterday). This is a review of a Norwegian Cruise Lines week-long cruise to Mexico from San Diego and is fairly lengthy. If you want to skip the details, the conclusion is that my wife and I have been contentedly cruising on Celebrity for a number of years. We will be skipping NCL in the future in favor ...
I've gone on Carnival, Norwegian and Royal Caribbean. Norwegian has the best dining with Specialty Restaurants but other than that it's a very boring ship. Too many children running around unattended, hot tubs full of children. Comedy night was 18+ but people bought their children so the comedian talked about oral sex and masterbation as I sat there with children around. Left there and went to ...
Want to sail the Norwegian Jewel? You may want to read this first.
If you wonder why the ship is cheap, there is a reason. First time sailors don't be fooled. You have better choices.
Need internet? Choose another ship as this one's complicated system robs you of minutes every time you turn it on and turn it off (many ports do have free internet, except Colon, Panama- Cartagena and Santa ...
Plus
Food was normally pretty good
Staff were mostly polite and accommodating
Minus
Not stopping at Nicaragua changed the dynamic of the cruise. Too many days at sea. Also, no explanation or apology, just a note on arrival. Not acceptable
The constant announcements through the canal starting at 6am, and going all day, was a real distraction.
Entertainment was somewhere between ...
My sister and I have travelled on numerous cruises together and this was our first time trying Norwegian. We are comparing our experience on Norwegian with our experiences on multiple Carnival cruises as well as with Holland America. We are in our late 40s. We decided to take a family Christmas cruise with our parents (who are in their 70s), and my 2 teenage children to celebrate several ...
