Nice common areas on deck - appreciated the stage area in a central spot that was consistent with music and entertainment throughout sea days and in the afternoons as cruisers were returning to the ship.

We live just a 20 minute drive from the los angeles pier and it was a convenient itinerary for us to book this one week cruise. We have sailed on the norwegian jade from houston to barcelona and the cruise critic group made that cruise the most fun all week long with gatherings and gaming with lcr dice games. We did have the beverage and dining package for this cruise. This cruise critic ...

Not bad but we have been much happier on previous cruises.

Service was odd. It seemed like a lot of staff was missing. We had to wait for service quite often. Drinks not arriving till after appetizers served. Waited with menus sitting in front of us for long periods of time. We weren't very pleased with our stateroom. Steward was pretty non-existent. We kept getting a sewer smell in our stateroom that they couldn't figure out. The same smell other ...

This is my 3rd cruise on Norwegian, twice on the Jewel and once on the Escape. My previous cruise on the Jewel in 2015 (Alaska) was overall a far better experience. My 2016 cruise on the Escape (Caribbean) was amazing. To be fair my experience on this 2017 cruise on the Jewel (Mexican Riviera) was amazing when compared to say any cruise offered by a line like Carnival, but when compared to past ...

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

Unfortunately, this cruise started out poorly and never really got much better. My husband has an issue with standing for extended periods of time, so we requested an "assisted boarding". I made sure we had the documentation stating we requested the assisted boarding but that didn't help. When we arrived, I requested assistance but was told to have him sit on the concrete benches while I stood in ...

Norwegian Jewel, 14 night full transit Panama Canal cruise

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

I always wanted to do a full transit of the Panama Canal. The Jewel was sailing on the dates of my 45 anniversary, so that is why we picked NCL Jewel. I usually sail with Royal and Carnival. The Jewel built in 2004 and went into dry dock 2014 if I remember correctly. The ship is showing it's age. I can not say if it was because of the length of the cruise, the average age of the passengers, or ...

Norwegian Jewel Panama Canal Cruise Feb. 5-19th

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

Cruise was chosen because of length and destination. Buffet food was delicious, but ice cream machines were not always functioning. It would have been nice to have an ice cream machine near the pool. Coffee was too strong for our taste. We watered it down. Decor in dining rooms was not as elegant as some larger ships. Personnel were fabulous. Our room stewardess (last name Harris) was very ...

This was our 5 th cruise with ncl. 3 of them on this ship. We are latatude members because we have traveled with them so many times. We are awarded certain perks. Standing in line for over 2 hours is not one of them. No more bringing soda or water on board, company policy. Once on board the room was great. Large bathroom with a tub. If you bring your own coffee be sure to bring basket type ...

The "Haven" loses some of its luster.

Review for a Panama Canal & Central America Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

We've taken five cruises on NCL, all in the Haven going back about six years. We had certain expectations based on that past experience, and we were disappointed with a number of them. Let's start with the embarkation. My wife needs a wheelchair to get from the curb to the cabin. We had to wait 45 minutes sitting outside in Los Angeles before a wheelchair came and this was after I nagged half ...

Staff members, great, especially assistant who booked our Valentine's Day dinner and Tarynn, in the internet shop. Say hello...Very sweet person with the most terrific smile and laugh. She made my cruise. The ship's activities were abysmal. The ship's band, Souled Out, grew tiresome REALLY fast. The ship had a great DJ;he was left to start playing near MIDNIGHT. If you are in your 50s and would ...

We chose this cruise because we wanted to see the Panama Canal and had cruised on NCL before and had good experiences with the line. I'm not saying this was a bad experience, I am saying it was generally "blah." I say that because it was a 16 day cruise and the food overall was not good. With exceptions. First - the Canal is fantastic and this is a great ship to see it from. We started in Miami ...
