DH and I booked the "Weekend Cruise" on the Norwegian Gem. It left from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal on Friday and returned Sunday morning. This was our 1st time on NCL. To be honest, we had heard several negative things about NCL but the lure of a quick vacation without the need for flying or driving several hours to get there overcame any reluctance we had to try NCL.

General Comments:
This cruise was a fun getaway with my 12 year old daughter. I was a little worried that the crowd might be more rowdy than normal given it's a CTN, but I am happy to say that while it was a younger and more party spirit crowd than other NCL cruises, I didn't see anybody out of control or behaving badly.

We had a great time, I had only been a a CTN once and my DH never has. Embarkation was crazy with both the Gem and Jewel departing at roughly the same time, once you were through the security checkpoint, staff could have done a better job at directing Gem passengers back to check in. The Gem was beautiful. The food, service and activities on this CTN were fabulous! I sailed with 3 newbies and all enjoyed their time onboard. The Quest Show was fun and was the rest of entertainment onboard.
Food is always subjective on a cruise - I must say I enjoyed variety at lunch. Dinner was great, a bit of a miss on desserts but good overall.
