The Great Outdoors. Has a nice size bar and buffet. Best of all, it's own soft-serve ice machine.

Amazingly quite good
"The ship is nice even though there are a few thousand people on there quite a few places to hide and keep yourselves to yourself The food was nice and tasty The staff were nice in all areas no concerns at all The internet isn’t worth it at all, the count down once logging on takes a minute off you straight away but we had 120 minutes for free but if you chat with the internet man he is really good and polite We had the drinks package but on a few occasions there was NO Malbec in the restaurants not sure why.We found the balcony room ok the shower room was quite big we were in 10624, but one thing that bugged me was the room cleaning attendant used to open our door to give us the next days program - so put do not disturb on your door - also to note there is only 1 turn down per day not an evening turn down either which is not good Overall we enjoyed the cruise and would travel again on the Gem but I would be very careful over the decision on which ports we were to stop at A lot of sea days are not..."Read More

First trip to Bermuda of the Season-Wild Ride !

Review for a Bermuda Cruise on Norwegian Gem

We especially love the Gem for the outstanding crew and staff, this is our second trip to Bermuda on the Gem. What a friendly group who gave outstanding service at all times. Our first time was before the pandemic. We were in a Club Balcony and we very happy to see it had not been totally updated, the changes to this type of cabin on Pearl was terrible, (closet hard to open, doors ...

This was a transatantic from rome to new york. i did this cruise last year on ncl epic and didn't much like it, but i've been on the gem and other gem class ships and you were never in doublt you were on a ship, no matter where you were. it looked like a cruise ship, smelt like a cruise ship everyone knew. the giant floating shopping centers don't appeal to me. i don't want to have to board ...

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Norwegian Gem

We chose this Caribbean cruise as it sailed from New York and we wanted to spend 3 days before joining the ship. Also the drinks package and speciality dinning for 2 nights was a factor. First the good points: The staff are super friendly and we had good service on the whole. Cagneys and Moderna speciality restaurants were superb. The complimenary Asian restaurant was also very good. Our ...

Great First Cruise

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Norwegian Gem

11 nights sailing the Eastern Caribbean on the Norwegian Gem was my very first cruise experience. I kept my expectations low, but I was pleasantly surprised. Obviously, I have some pros and cons as a first-time cruiser so let's start with the embarkation experience from the NYC port. Embarkation: NCL should list the pier number for NYC embarking cruise ships in advance. When I called ...

We have been cruising for 20 years and thought we would give this ship a try Yet again Grand Turk was cancelled about 3 months before sailing and Bermuda was replaced We had been to most of the places on our itinerary but thought oh well let’s go !! The ship is nice even though there are a few thousand people on there quite a few places to hide and keep yourselves to yourself The ...

No surprises

Review for a Bahamas Cruise on Norwegian Gem

Chose this cruise at last minute because it departed and returned from New York City, no fly for us. Needed a respite from winter. And price was right. This was our first NCL cruise since an ill fated cruise on the NCL Star which blew an engine, modified our itinerary and we received no consideration for ruining our once in a lifetime Southeast Asia cruise. Boarding was easy, no wait. ...

Our Cruise restart

We decided to book a cruise late minute and found 5 day NCL Gem to Bermuda. Despite of the stress in dealing with the Bermuda travel authority we boarded the ship as normal. We expected a long process to board being our first cruise since the restart but it was quick. The Gem is a smaller ship so everything was close and convenient. The live bands were great especially Natural Mystic in the Magnum ...

We were traveling with friends that had never cruised before and figured that the Boston to Bermuda would be a first great cruise for them. We got to the terminal nice and early and sailed through security and check-in and patiently waited for board. Once we got on board, we were the first ones in O'Sheehans for lunch. O'Sheehans is my least favorite restaurant on the ship but everyone else ...

Mostly Wonderful Experience

For our very first cruise, I wanted to choose one that left from somewhere nearby and didnt have a lot of ports to stop in so I had to choose between NCL and Royal Caribbean . I chose the Gem simply for the freestyle dining to try to make our experience as easy and carefree as possible. I was very pleased with the ship: the staff was very nice, it was very clean. A few times I wished I had more ...

Will cruise NCL again!

Review for a Bermuda Cruise on Norwegian Gem

The major reason for choosing this cruise was because of how convenient it was...however after sailing with NCL I will def choose this cruise again for a variety of reasons. The Gem is a smaller/older ship but very "user" friendly, esp. when traveling with older people. Our our balcony cabin was a little on the smaller size but always clean, towels replaced, etc. The Grand ...
