Mostly hits but some misses

Review for a Bahamas Cruise on Norwegian Gem

We sailed on the NCL Gem from 2/16-2/19. It was just hubby and I, we’re experienced cruisers with NCL and Royal Caribbean. For starters, I love the size of the Gem. I have been on the Getaway few years ago which at the time was one of the biggest, and since then only sailed on medium-sized ships. THE POSITIVES FIRST The Embarkation process - we embarked in Miami, and it was a breeze. ...

Frustrations with NCL cruise

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Norwegian Gem

We have sailed with Norwegian in the past and enjoyed our cruises. This one was the size ship we prefer ( medium or smaller) with a nice itinerary and a good length for us. We decided to get a club balcony suite so we could spend more time outdoors and watch the activity in port. Also we got a few extra perks for booking it. The cabin and our cabin steward’s service were excellent. Most of the ...

Shore excursions and room service

Had bary bad experience with this company, reserved shore trip and could not make in time due to delayed arrival. Rhys would not refund my fool cost or give my credit. Don’t book anything with these thieves, use local guides onshore or use Expedia instead. Room cleaning is 40$ per room per day . You can skip few days and get refund. Service and shows betę actually priory good . Ship was also in ...

Stunning

This was our first cruise ever. We enjoyed the Norwegian Gem. We had chosen a balcony room on the 11th deck. We did get the room we chose and it was much bigger in person than what the pictures had shown. Our room steward was very accommodating and friendly. When your room says DO NOT DISTURB, they wont even knock for anything (EX room service). I did NOT like the tub though. It had such high ...

Chose this cruise at last minute because it departed and returned from New York City, no fly for us. Needed a respite from winter. And price was right. This was our first NCL cruise since an ill fated cruise on the NCL Star which blew an engine, modified our itinerary and we received no consideration for ruining our once in a lifetime Southeast Asia cruise. Boarding was easy, no wait. ...

Good value, good company, but not a great cruise

Before the expansion and widening of the Panama Canal, there were dozens of cruise ships built sized just like the NCL Gem. These were Panamax vessels, the biggest ships that could go through the original locks. They were all a bit over 90K tons, around 965’ long, and sailed with around 2400 guests and 1100 crew. They were big enough to support two- and three-story main dining rooms, several ...

Flawless first cruise

Review for a Bahamas Cruise on Norwegian Gem

This was our first cruise and we booked it sort of at the last minute because it was cheap and some friends were going. We were told it was a weird itinerary - NYC to Bermuda, just a half day in Bermuda, then on to Nassau, Great Stirrup Cay and a long day in Port Canaveral (7 am to 1 am). We were also told it would be cold in Bermuda and the seas would be rough in January. But everything turned ...

Cancelled 2 of 3 ports of call, wow

Well, this is the new norm, thanks Covid! Booked the cruise for Charleston, found letter on bed as we checked in, C'ston cancelled. Also the balcony cabin was much smaller than expected, & bathroom the tiniest ever. We're not even tall or overweight & your knees hit the wall as you sat on toilet. That's a new one! So onward to extra sea day, & NCL fortunately got into DCL space & put us in ...

An Enjoyable First Cruise Since the Pandemic

Review for a Bahamas Cruise on Norwegian Gem

My wife and I enjoyed our first cruise since the pandemic began. It's great to be with people again! We arrived in Miami the day before the cruise, using a free-night coupon to stay at a hotel in Miami Beach. With everyone vax'd, and pre-boarding testing mandatory, masks for pax were not required aboard the ship...although all crewmembers that I saw were wearing them. The testing before ...

WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER!!

Review for a Bahamas Cruise on Norwegian Gem

I thought this was gonna be the funnest experience ever since this was my birthday cruise… but because they don’t social distance or anything, especially on the COVID pre board testing, I ended up catching the flu and had to stay in my room the remainder of the cruise!! Not cool! And I told them can I at least get some type of credit for my next trip and they said no that they don’t do that. This ...
