An inspiring experience! A great way to find out what to expect when you travel outside of Havana and explore this great country. Hi have the highest respect for the people and their pride. Incredible architecture and art. The museum is extensive and interesting. Casa Fuster and El Tanque are a wonderful experience, rich in color and design, music and imagination. Expect the unexpected. Going to dinner at La Guarida was another unexpected experience. We arrived by taxi at what appeared to be a constructions site with people working on this magnificent property as we climbed higher up an elegant staircase to this absolutely love restaurant with incredible food. Worth the climb for the food and rooftop view. P.S. Rihanna ate here! Don't miss a cup of coffee or mojito in the garden of The Hotel Nacional de Cuba and visit with the peacocks. Take a walk through the magnificent art deco lobby. Experience a Cuban show at Cafe Habana and enjoy the Buena Vista Social Club, great music and dancing. As an elderly Viet Nam Vet (hat) in the passport line said: Thank you Obama! Can't wait to go back. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it went to Cuba. In retrospect we should have chosen a cruise that was in Cuba longer and gone to more ports. The disembarkation was late by 2 hours and very disorganized. The front desk did not have many answers and the front desk staff was rude. The only information we picked up was the NCL shore excursions had priority over other passengers. This late embarkation cost us 2 hours because we hired a private guide with a 1952 Chevy. We did like the entertainment on the ship. The shows were amateurish and the singing and dancing were not good. Some of the activities seemed geared to drinking ( the sexy man dancing contest) by the pool. The only activity we enjoyed was the salsa dancing lesson. The room was dated because it did not have enoug outlets for our devices. The layout of the Sky was confusing and there were not enough maps of the ship posted. We did manage to get lost a few times. We felt that the shore excursions were way overpriced, and decided to book our own tours. This worked out well because we got to see much more, and we didn't have to wait for people to board the bus. The show at the Tropicana was fabulous. Read Less

I just loved my cruise, always so many people that are negative, but I had a great time onboard. And the ports on this is just so interesting.. We had booked excursions in almost every port, and they wore great.. the only thing that was a little down, was the queueing to get the sticker, but as soon as you got that, it took no time to get out of the ship and to the waiting bus. The food was good, and I did like the Manhattan room best for dinner, I dont like the atmosphere at Taste. The noodle bare is also very good for a quick bite, and I love the Italian.. the view from there is so nice. I did found th staff to be very nice, just talk to them and be like a normal person, and they will smile and give you super service, ( I always see so many demanding and rude persons, and if you are one you dont deserve good service) Entertainmetn onboard was sooo good, I love Pricilla, and I saw that 3 times, it is way better onboard that on Westend. Burn the floor is amazing as well, the dancers wore fantastic. waites I always got bar service quick and waiters was around always to serve you drinks. This was my second time on the Epic, I like this ship, and I cant wait to go bat on the TA in November. Read Less

all and all everything was great. They should do more parties like The glow party, the music that night was great...more appealing to people twenties to 60. Our Cabin boy Albert was excellent, cabin was always cleaned. The small rain pool on H2O seemed that it was always dirty, debris always on the bottom of the water...maybe needed to be vacuum more often. Thermal room was a delight, locker rooms very cleaned and full of clean towels and robes. The food at the buffet was always good and they always had something different everyday. The other restaurants is a hit or miss, our favorite was Le Bistro, great ambiance and delicious food. All the Staff was super friendly and efficient. We were glad we got the large balcony, we enjoyed the views of New York city and Bermuda, it was also nice having the door opened at night and listen to the waves, getting some fresh air in the room. Totally would recommend this Cruise to anyone. Read Less

My daughter and I cruised on the Jade, with a lot of wonderful people. The first day at sea, the ship felt very crowded. Open areas were full of drinking sunbathers. Our first stop was Cozumel, having visited this island on more of a destination vacation. Cozumel is really a lovely island. A fantastic Tattoo Man named David, at "Mayan Tattoo" just across the street once you work your way out of cruise-ville. We made appointments, and headed out with our snorkel gear to Playa Corona, a very small, quiet private beach where we paid only $5.00 to enjoy this property. My daughter enjoyed the snorkeling, lovely swimming spot and fresh Shrimp Ceviche, a cold Corona of course, and a beautiful day. We were in the Cozumel Center for a couple of hours before heading out, so we were able to hire a cap for $9.00 USD to take us to this Playa Corona. I tipped her well, and asked her to come back for us in 2 hours. After our lunch, she returned for us and we headed back into the center where we were both tattooed at David's Mayan Tattoo. We were safe, as Cozumel has a very low crime rate. Take a chance on your own taxi driver, the white vans are the best and they are always lined up at the "MEGA" store just left as you come out of Cruise-ville, this store has everything you could possibly need. Dollars are very welcome, especially now, with the exchange rate of the Mexican Peso, is in our favor. Stock up on bottled water. If you shop for any sort of alcohol, they will tag it for you, take it from you, and return it to you the last night of the cruise. BUY the drink package if you expect to drink more than one or two days. We aren't big drinkers, and our first round came to $95.00. So when the drinking package goes on sale, buy it. I believe it was around $189 at one point. After Cozumel, we landed in a huge new Cruise-ville, located in a newly created Region, known at Costa Maya. The small town located there is warm, welcoming and we ate at Il Primo, as local as you can imagine. My lunch bill was $1.50 for 3 soft chicken tacos. Unfortunately, in my humble opinion, Costa Maya was not a place I would return to. As lovely as the town was, and the native peoples are lovely, and I was shocked a cruise line such as Norwegian would even stop at this place. The beaches were covered with trash, and a seasonal sea weed piled up on all of the beaches we could reach, with our rented Golf Cart, available once you work y our way outside of Cruise-ville. We paid $80.00 between 4 people, to cruise around the island, in a golf cart. It was a perfect way to adventure out and find the local taste along with discovering an American owned beach club, restaurant and dock bar, called SHIPWRECKED. Its at the end of the dirt road along the same coast the ship docks. They stop the golf carts from traveling further because the dirt road was brutal. Glad we ventured out and found some fresh air, SHIPWRECKED is the perfect location to beach it, snorkel it, and hang out at the coolest over the water bar, with amazing dishes! We found the beauty in the rough. Instead of building a huge Cruise-ville, I wish Norwegian had invested in the locale town, the beaches because many people want to experience a true sense of a place, especially on a first visit. This port was difficult to walk out, because of the barrage of Mexican Merchants selling their wares in the Cruise-ville. A fake place created to mimic the local culture. This location is also bouncing back from Hurricane Ernesto, in 2013, evidence of this is everywhere. Next Stop, Roatan, Honduras. To my surprise, this was by far my favorite spot. Again, I did not pay 3x on board for an excursion, but my daughter went on the Jolly Roger Cruise, snorkel off a Catamaran, eat lunch, and all day Rum Punch. Often this excursion is cancelled, so its best to book it the night before, as she did. I found a driver, hired him for the day for $35.00. I was shown the entire island, the areas I wanted to visit and again, was brought to a very local spot, very close to the cruise ship called RANDY'S. I had the redfish and it was amazing. Roatan was clean, there was a noticeable police presence and it is recommended to be at a beach club, to avoid thefts. West Bay is definitely the place to be. One could simply take a Taxi to this beach, pay the $10.00 entrance fee and enjoy a very secure and it is safe to leave your bag under your beach chair, and go swimming in this transparent sea. There are restaurants and bars, a bit of a boardwalk and yes, a beautiful beach. AND NO BEACH VENDORS are allowed. Roatan is safe.............. take a taxi. They are very humble and proud people, at every turn, helpful, kind, and want you to feel safe due to the mainland's crime. This is not the mainland, it is the loveliest of islands. Many missed out on exploring Roatan, because of travel fears, I had such a good experience, as did my daughter, so either way you want to go, do not miss out on Roatan's beauty and great efforts to renew a reputation that deprives many of a very nice experience. Belize was next, and one of the locations I was particularly looking forward to, We docked early in the morning, it was a very long walk to shore, so I recommend waiting for the little shuttle. It is beautiful Caye, bought by Norwegian, with privately owned restaurants and bars, little shops of local chocolate and the typical wears. Ship cards are accepted on this Caye, but drinks were expensive, this Cruise-ville was most disappointing. We were only there for half of a day, as only on ship can dock at a time there, and apparently another ship was coming in. We had to be back on the ship by noon that day, so there is no time to take the water taxi to Belize mainland, no Tubbing excursions and so very disappointing because it was our last Port, and it just wasn't even close to anything real Belize and really no time to do anything but be on the beach or in a bar drinking. Harvest Caye is Norwegian's proudest accomplishment, but don't count on going to Belize, but a man made lovely beach. My daughter explored the Butterfly disply and enjoyed the bay side view. Regarding the ship, it is brand new feeling, our cabin, 8104 was located near O'Sheehan's Pub, which was great. It was a quieter part of the ship, which suited us well. I can note several exceptional staff members, a waiter named Jimmy, in the Main Dinning Room. However, our room Steward, who's name I could not pronounce and English I could not understand, never met me until after Roatan, 4th night of the cruise. Every day, our cabin was last on his list, returning sometimes at 3pm and no cleaning had been done. When the cabin was cleaned, it was so nice and fresh. This Steward never sought to know the blind guest, or see to any additional needs I may of had. The only time we saw him, was when we wanted to ask WHEN our cabin was going to be clean, "ok we are going to dinner now, could you please do it while we are gone?" "yes, of course" and it wasn't done. I wanted sheets changed half way through the cruise, "yes of course" and it was not done. Whatever the issue, my cabin did not need to be his last stop everyday. The products supplied in the bathrooms were fine. Leave your shampoo and soaps at home! Overall I enjoyed this cruise. Read Less

when we booked the cruise with NCL we knew that we would have a wonderful cruise. We met with lots of new friends though Cruise Critic, from the wonderful sail-away party with the C C, doing the cabin crawl ,seeing all the different cabins that NCL has to offer, also the get together with our Cruise critic folks in the casino..most definitely so much fun even though we all won our original 15.00 plus 1.50 .... our cabin with good size for two, and to be able to sit outside on the balcony and see the sun rise and set was amazing. The entertainment shows were unbelievable awesome ... especially the Element show ! the restaurants were all so delicious... great food ! (I have gained 15 pounds ) The service was also great, everyone was ready to help you have the most pleasant trip. My wife and I had decided to do the all inclusive dolphin belly ride. It was the magical thing that we had done together since we married. We are planning on doing a friend/family cruise next year... can't wait Read Less

We booked our cruise specifically to go to Belize. The weather was great. Things were going well. A half hour before we were supposed to dock at Harvest Cay the announcer said stray storm the night before ruined the dock. So we spent the day anchored at Sea (with spa and casino in full blast with people spending money). I did some research and learned NCL cancels Harvest Cay and their own island in the Bahamas a lot. Is there something we can do? They could have at least taken us to Belize CIty instead of just holding us hostage on the boat. If a "stray" storm ruins a cement pier how can the pier hold the ship???? The ship gets tied to it. NCL saved and made so much money of cancelling the stop. We enjoyed the beverage package. Costa Maya was a very dirty place. The $20 beach massages people rave about were not what you expect. We would not eat there or drink anything but bottled beer. I can't believe they woudl stop there. Cozumel was a good port. Read Less

Norwegian Escape balcony room 9912. we had chosen Norwegian, because it was the best bang for your buck or so we thought. we also choose ncl. because people said they loved the freestyle. (witch was one of the only good thing about the cruise.) not being told when/where you could eat. the cruise we want on was my husband and my first cruise/vacation ever as adults. this cruise was also our honeymoon. now before i explain. why it was the trip from hell. on the embarkation we were rush and pushed though. just to wait in line for our room key. then to wait in another line to get aboard the ship. it just seemed pointless to rush us at customs. just have to wait in 2 lines. my husband and i are not picky people at all. but for what we paid for this cruise was not wroth it at all. the way 90% of the crew and officers treated us. was not worth prepaying the service charges. on the first day we had gone to the buffet to eat. my husband had gotten some food that was under cooked and i got sick the first night and puked my brains out. my husband had gotten something hard in his food. that cut his gum and gave him a tooth infection by the 2nd day. from the under cooked food he had eaten. so we went to the medical bay. the nurse had said it was 149.00 plus medicine and supplies. so we where thinking 500 to 600 bucks at most and when we got back we would submit it to our insurance. we had asked if it would come out of the account or would we get a bill. she had said he would get a bill. witch was a lie! since we didn't have that much money and wanted to enjoy our vacation and go on ship excursion's. when we got to the islands. so my husband wanted to wait and see if he would feel better. since he wasn't in as much pain at that time. but by the 3rd his face had swelled and he was in a lot more pain. so we went to the medical bay and had asked the same questions and she gave the same answers. so he got treated and that night he got the bill. it was 1,257.00 for 1 hour of medical service. some ibuprofen and antibiotic. they also had put it on the account and had taken all the money he had. They then proceeded to call the room more then once and left letters on the door. at the time my husband was trying to recover. so we had talk to guest services like they asked and told them the nurse had quoted us something much different. they told us we had to go to the medical bay and talk to them. but at that time they were closed. so the next day he still wasn't feeling good and because of hipaa. i knew they wouldn't talk to me and since Florida still doesn't accept gay marriage. so when my husband felt a little better. to witch the guest services was still was calling and left bills and told us to pay. that made him take longer to get some what better and didn't start to get better. till the cruise was all most over even though we told them. we did not have any way to pay. no credit cards or money to pay. they took all the money we had already. so he tried talking to the nurse at medical bay. they didn't care or do anything and told him he signed the bill. even though they didn't show him the bill or said it was the bill. just told him to sign for the treatment he received and so he could get the medicine. if that wasn't bad enough i had tried enjoying myself. since my husband told me no use us both staying in the room. so i tried enjoying the pools and they were always full. the hot tubes were full of kids even though it had said adults only till 8pm and there is a kids pool witch the kids never used. so i tried using the adults only spice h20 hot tubes. witch was always full. so i would ride the water slides. but when i rode the green drop slide. i hurt my back and got cut up in 2 places. the person that was running the drop slide. before i had rode the drop slide. the first ride attendant was allowing people to ride the slide without taking off their jewelry. before i had the chance to ride the slide. they had a shift change and i had to wait 15 minutes before i could ride the drop slide. witch is cool everyone needs breaks and i am not mad about that. the person that replaced the other guy was making everyone take off any jewelry. the only reason i am saying this is because i remember the 3 people in front of me. they had wined about the other guy not making them take off their jewelry. i believe someone had lost a piece of jewelry from the other guy and the jewelry had gotten jammed in the slide. the jewelry had cut and hurt my back in 2 places. when i told one of the pool attendant and showed him my back. because i didn't want to go all the way to the top of the ride. just to tell the ride attendant. since my back was hurting from cuts and i pulled my back up when it cut me and that pulled a muscle. the pool attendant told me it was not his problem and walked away. so i went back to my room as fast as i could to lay down. my back has just now started to feel better from the cuts/pulled muscle. i just wish i could have gone swimming in the Ocean/Caribbean sea. since before this cruise i had never seen or been in the ocean. I didn't get the chance to go swimming in the ocean/Caribbean sea or even put my feet in the water. since their was no swimming by the boat/docks. they also took all the money that was in my husbands account. so we both couldn't afford any of the ship excursions and i didn't want to go alone or take a taxi and had something happen. then not make it back in time for the boat. with the luck we had that would have happened and we didn't have passports. plus what is the fun in going to a beach alone on your honeymoon. i had cried every night on the ship for this reason and a couple more other reasons listed above and below. the only time we had an okay time was in the smoke room. because we met 5 really nice people and 2 crew members that treated us with respect. a bartender Matika in the atrium bar and our room steward.(that i can't remember how to spell his name.) i also wanted to mention on the 2nd or 3rd day of the cruise. i had gotten a alcoholic drink (a beer) from the bar. one of the officers on the ship. a guy officer had came up to me and garbed the beer from my hand and said you have to be 16 no drinking alcohol. i told him "i am sorry but what did you say?" he said no drinking you are 16. beer is for adults only. i told him i am 28 and married. he said give me your ship card. so i had handed him my ship card and he scanned my ship card. then he asked for my id. so i then showed him my id. i was not being mean, load or had been drinking. since that was my first beer all day or nor was i walking funny. so there was no reason for him to act this way to me. so then he gave me back my drink and started watch the other people at the bar. i didn't get a sorry or anything. i look young but i don't look that young. i am balding a little in the front and i had a full bread at the time. with my wedding ring on. this had happened to me 2 times. but the 2nd time was with a different officer on the ship and i was not drinking. i was just at a dj party in the skyline bar for adults only 18+. i was with a friend i made at the smoke room at tobacco road. she only stopped us and asked us for our ships card/id's. even though there was way younger looking people. that was walking into the skyline bar right behind us and she didn't ask them for anything. i have worked for 2 different convenience store totaling over 9 years. i know it is hard to tell somebody's age. but i know if i asked someone for their id like they did or only asked the young gay guys. i would have been fired or reprimanded for it.i would have said something to customer service. but the way they treated my husband. i didn't want to talk to them at all. since i know it most likely would not have gone anywhere or would have done anything.. i also have dyslexia and is hard for me to remember people's names/spelling of names. as i didn't want to say or spell it wrong. then get someone that had nothing to do with it in trouble. i only had the chance to walk around the 1st island of St.Thomas alone. not fun at all but i wanted my husband to try to recover. so we might of had the chance to walk to a beach. on one of the other islands. because they took all of my husbands money. so no ship excursions and i didn't want to go alone on the 2nd island Tortola he still was in pain. so we couldn't go to the beach there ether. on the 3rd island in the Bahamas. my husband was felling a little better. so the friends we had made in the smoke room. they had walked with us to the flee market. witch wasn't the plan we had in mind. the plan was to visit the beaches at all 3 islands. we had put just enough money in the accounts for 3 ship excursions and so we could get a couple of drinks for us both.. the reason we had chosen a cruise was for the beaches and the fact you do not need a passport to go. it also had been a dream of ours since we met 7 years ago. the dream was to go to the Caribbean beaches. the very thought of how they treated us and the trip its self. has made me cry a lot.. just thinking about it as i type this email has made me cry. i am not the type to cry at all. but all that hard earned money down the drain. we ware so close to having one of our biggest dreams for filled then having it fail. i have a lot of family members. That have gone on cruises before and plan on cruising in the future. they had told us cruises are the best bang for your buck. they also do not require a passport. which cost a ton of money. it had taken us years to save for just this honeymoon/ vacation. gas money their and back home (in total 2,591 miles 38.11 hours total drive) money for 2 hotel stays, food for the trip down and back, a little spending money for gifts/memento's to remember the trip, and tipping money for the people that served us.. i am not the kind of person that always looks at just the bad. i always try to look for the good in life and look for the positive things in life. but the only good/positive thing was meeting 7 people that we will never forget. the beautiful islands we had seen. plus the friendly people on the islands. i am sorry for this email. but i hated the thought that we got treated like crap, spent a whole lot of money, and was so close to completing one of our dreams. yet never got to go to the beaches or swimming on any of the islands witch was the whole point of the trip. i have tried emailing ncl and they have not gotten back with us at all. We had a great time on this cruise , we had a vibe beach club week pass and that vibe was really great . I wonder if i would still like it without the vibe club . To bad you can't order it in advance ... A big bravo to the waiter Desiril from Vibe , she was great ! We had choosen the drinking package and what was included in the package was more then enough for us and the wifi package of 250 minutes , witch we upgraded to a unlimited wifi pachage for something like ( i think it was) 55 dollar We bought the specialty dinning package for 5 specialty dinnings and because of this we could eat every evening somewhere else and the food was amazing One thing i didn't like was that on boarding days it was only possble to have lunch in the self service restaurant . One more thing that I didn't like as well was that we booked it together with friends from the states ( we're from europe) and they could bid for an upgrade and we didn't get the chance to do this ???? The explenation was that they randomly pick out emailadresses to do this , so our friends had a upgrade to haven and we did not had the chance to bid :-( . Dous anybody knows if there are simillar clubss like vibe on other cruise line's and if you can book them in advance and what they costs ? Read Less

Rumor has it there were 1300 kids on board this sailing! Still, I laugh because it seems like adults are far more likely to be rude and annoying than the kids...I was almost taken out by speeding carts on more than one occasion. In a nutshell- the ship was by far larger than any I had sailed. It was actually intimidating on day 1,but we got our bearings quickly. I do agree the set up with the always stinky casino/ 678 area is certainly a poorly thought out design. I also think having the smoker's area at the bar on 17,right where it's easiest to watch the littles in the water play area is odd placement. Stateroom- 15870, an angled balcony was a delight overall, but you do hear nightly bass thumping music. Our attendant was kind enough to put a lounger on the balcony along with the two chairs and table and there was plenty of space. With 4 of us in the room, it took staying organized to not feel sardined. Plenty of storage space for us. LOVED the glass enclosed shower. The balcony was the perfect extra space. Do note that the overhang does affect view/photos a bit. Room steward Anil was hands down my favorite on any ship/line we've ever sailed. Mind you, I'm only on my 8th, but this man was the most genuine person I think I've ever met. He was efficient and thorough at his tasks. There was just something about his character that really made my week. Food is subjective....but I gained 4 pounds so I will say I obviously had little problem finding yummy food! Food Republic and Moderno were both excellent! Main dining was alright. We aren't big seafood eaters and twice I almost felt like I was settling on my dinner. O'Sheehans on Escape is far superior to the one on the Pearl. Spent a lot of time there playing darts, bowling, air hockey... and watching whatever was going on in the atrium below. Found breakfast and most lunches in the Café to be very enjoyable as well. However, this is where you realize there are many adults that throw manners out the window on "their vacation". Cutting kids in line because you feel entitled as an adult just makes you look like a _______ ( fill in what ever negative you want). Sometimes I wish I didn't raise my girls with manners because there were a few times I wish they let loose on people like that. Bars/drinks were actually pretty hit and miss. We,like many, had UBP. The roving servers I am used to seeing on other lines were like sighting Bigfoot over the course of the week. Bartenders in general were nice ( though one apparently thinks it's "funny" to pretend he doesn't understand English so the guest repeats themselves over and over- I guess I failed to see the humor? The one margarita we got at Margaritaville was awful. If we didn't have UBP the small cups to price ratio would have bothered me a lot. Kids ( 9 and 14) spent most of their time with new friends in their clubs. I was happy to see they enjoyed the clubs as much as they did! They both came off the ship with contact info and apparently intend to figure out how to convince all the parents to figure out a sailing in the future together!? Mini golf was always chaos so I didn't even try. The ropes course was really fun. I admit, of the four of us, I was actually more intimidated than I thought I would be at the start. Kids said waterslide was fun but nobody wanted to try the green/blue racer slide with me..and then my sunburned back kept me off anyway. Embark/Debark was very smooth in my eyes, especially with the number of passengers on board. Overall, we had a blast. Would we sail Escape again? I'd say yes for sure. Read Less
