Lovely ship for those who like smaller vessels.
Plenty out door space, could always find a sun bed.
Cabin was nice & cozy for the 3 of us (sharing with 16 yr old daughter & husband)
Good food at complimentary dining, buffet basic with a fair choice & the 2 dining rooms made it a bit special, especially if you took lunch there.
All the speciality dining areas were good especially the ...
Disappointed. We sailed in the NCL Breakaway in the Caribbean the week before Christmas 2019, and were hoping to have a relaxing time, but couldn't during the day. The one pool is small and very crowded with young adults, as well as the hot tubs. Loud bands. You couldn't get away from the noise. The food in the main restaurants was not up to par as compared to other cruise lines we have sailed on. ...
Extended family Christmas Vacation Cruise. The Breakaway reinforces our love for NCL. Overall, this is in our top 5 of great cruises. 1st time on the Breakaway, and it did not disappoint.
THE GOOD:
(1) The ship layout NEVER feels crowded. Despite almost 5k passengers, the only time it ever felt like there were a ton of people was post-shows at the theater. Even disembarkation / embarkation ...
This was a holiday cruise with my family (all adults).
Embarkation: Sailing out of Port Canaveral it was fairly busy with other ships loading/unloading that day but getting through the check in and on board was a swift and painless process.
Dining/Food: The specialty restaurants were delicious. I've been on a few NCL cruises but this was the first time I went to a Cagney's (which we did for ...
What a fabulous holiday. I had been reading the reviews and was a little concerned but I honestly don't know where all the negativity was coming from. Embarkation - got to the Manhattan Cruise Terminal early. Was really slick - lots of people to take the bags and make sure they were tagged properly. Easy directions to get to the holding area and because i travel with my mom, who is a Platinum ...
ITINERARY:
We chose the tour because of the route: Chile to Argentina through the Chilean Fjords, glaciers, Cape Horn, the Argentinian Patagonia, etc. The cost is quite high and we also decided to get a balcony cabin to take advantage of the nice landscapes the itinerary promised. Unfortunately we did not get to visit two items on the agenda. We were told the waves were too high on Cape Horn so ...
About three weeks ago I was on the Encore and had a luke warm experience. The ship was lovely but the staff seemed too rigid, not terribly friendly and the service was slow at bars and restaurants with mistakes often made. I confessed in that review that I was pretty Loyal to Royal.
Well, fast forward 3 weeks and I gave NCL another shot as I was able to secure an awesome last minute deal on a ...
Thankfully the NCL Star didn't break down until we reached the Falkland Islands(cruise day 11), but who wants to plan their 1 cruise to South America on a ship that is mechanically this unreliable? One year ago when I saw this cruise choice my only hesitation was the ship, not the cruise line, as my family had cruised on the Star previously in 2014. Knowing that the ship died in the Tasman Sea ...
Our family of 12 chose the Norwegian Breakaway for our Christmas Cruise. We had eight adults and four children ranging in ages 11 to 17. We were so excited to go on this Cruise and planned for over 12 months. Boy were we disappointed!
In general, the boat seemed severely understaffed. Service at the restaurants and at the bars were incredibly slow. At times we waited over 30 minutes for a ...
This is my 2nd NCL cruise and I would say they did a good job generally but I might have had a better experience with a smaller ship on maybe an Oceania ship. NCL gets you there and sells you the excursions - at inflated prices- for you to get the feel of the country. Oceania gets you closer to a city port, avoiding tendering, gives you a substantive lecture pre-arrival so you have some feel for ...
