After reading some reviews before we sailed I was a bit nervous about wait times for drinks, sun beds and the amount of people on the boat. I never once had a problem getting a sun bed even when I didnt go down untill late morning. I didn't have a long wait time to get a drink and it never really felt over crowded. The entertainment was great, something for everyone. I especially liked the atrium and Carlos was lovely. I also went to Bliss the night club which has a good vibe at night, the ice bar and a few of the other game shows and singers.. all great. Mandy the cruise director was also very good all the shows and parties I saw her hosting had good energy. We paid to eat in the steak house one night especially liked the food there. The rest of the nights we ate in the buffet, taste, Manhatten or the Irish bar. No complaints about any of them. My favourite place during the day was H2O as it was adults only, had hot tubs to use and the staff were quick to see if you wanted a drink. The only annoying thing was the lifts could be slow at times but it was expected and you have to get out of the room early on the day you leave. But compared to the amount I loved about the cruise this was minor. We pre booked our excursions with another company and they worked out very well, I understand to book them through the ship is very expensive. There is a large casino on the ship which is always fairly busy but not over crowded. As a young couple who's first time it was crusing we definitely had a great experience and will be crusing again. I would definitely reccomend this ship to all age groups. Read Less

This was our 20th anniversary present to each other, so we wnted to hit some major ports. We arrived in Barcelona at el Prat airport and after a very short wait were set up on our transfer bus to the port. The embarkation process went very smoothly and soon we were on the pool deck enjoying a light lunch and some adult beverages. We had booked a Spa mini-suite which gave us unlimited access to the thermal relaxation facilities, and we took advantage of them several times during the cruise. Our first full day was an at sea day, We took in the Cirque Dreams dinner show which was fantastic. The rest of the week was a new port and excursion every day. In Naples we did the Hop on- Hop off bus tour of the city. This allowed us to ride the bus to interesting points then get off and explore on our own. We had Pizza Margherita at a wonderful spot called Pizzeria Oliva, then we were off to a Cameo factory where the wife picked out several beautful pieces. Then back on the bus for some breath-taking vista overlooking the city and the bay. In Rome, it was the Forum, the Vatican museums ,the Sistine chapel and St Peter's Basilica. All of the beautiful. The next port was Livorno. We took walking tours of Pisa and Florence, where we saw the Leaning tower, Michelangelo's David, the Piazza del Duomo, the Fontana del Porcellino, and the Uffizi museum. Friday we arrived in Canne. Our excursion took us to the principality of Monaco, and Monte Carlo where we toured the Grand Casino, saw the Palace and the Oceanographic museum. Monaco was positively beautiful. Saturday we visit our last port before returning to Barcelona. The wonerful city of Palma on the island of Mallorca. We took a bus tour to the village of Valdemossa up in the mountains outside of Palma, where we enjoyed some sangria and quiet stroll through the village for some shopping before heading back down to see Palma itself. We really enjoyed this tour. Next stop Barcelona. We opted to stay in Barcelona for two days at the Hotel Montblanc as an add-on to the cruise. While there we saw the Sagrada Familia cathedral which was Gaudi's crowning glory, and went to the Monastary at Mont Serrat to see the Black Madonna, then off to Oller de Mas Vineyard and winery for an organic wine tasting and tapas. Truly outstanding. While on this cruise, we dined at three of the specialty restaurants, the main dining room and the Garden buffet. The food was wonderful at all of the venues. The ships staff was,as always, courteous, cheerful and professional. This was our fifth cruise with Norwegian, and it has to have been one of the best. Would definitely do this one again! Read Less

Cannot recommend The Norwegian Epic enough, absolutely fantastic ship and on the whole professional and attentive staff. Boarding starts at 1200 but cabins aren’t available until 1400, so no rush to board unless you want to get on early like we did and get your bearings and enjoy a glass of bubbles or two. Fabulous entertainment, wonderful restaurants and great bars. Speciality dining is well worth a visit, we did the Italian, Le Bistro and Moderno. La Bistro is excellent! Fine dining at its best! Plenty of deck space to sunbathe, plus the ‘Posh Beach Club’ which is an additional charge but well worth it for the big comfortable beds, space and cool relaxed vibe. Spa area/ thermal suits are fabulous, we had a spa cabin so visited the spa twice a day! Boarding and disembarkation very easy, quick and organised. Booked to go back on The Epic next year! Read Less

I had never been on a cruise before and did not know what to expect. My husband and I decided on this vacation for our honeymoon so we could visit several different places in Europe at one. This was the best decision! I was so impressed with Norwegian! Their service is top-notch. The crew is so friendly and knowledgeable and efficient - I really hope they're paid well!!! Every area of the ship was immaculate. The food was great too; we mostly ate in the main dining areas and were so pleased with the varying menu selections each night. I also was impressed with getting on/off the ship and the security measures taken. We felt so comfortable on this ship. Sure the cabins are small (we had an aft-facing balcony), but the designers really thought of everything, in terms of space/storage, so we never felt crowded. Our only (small) complaint was that we wished there were more/better entertainment choices at night, but otherwise we were completely happy with our honeymoon destination! Read Less

Just got back from the TA cruise to Barcelona. We cruised with Norwegian 3 times before, but first time on Transatlantic. Despite many negative reviews on Epic I have to say everything was almost perfect and exceeded our expectation. Embarkation took 5 min. because we spent the morning by the pool at a hotel and didn't come to the terminal until 2.30 pm. Nobody in the terminal by that time, of course. Went straight to our cabin that was ready waiting for us. The cruise was sold out, so we kind of worried about the crowds on board, but there was literally no lines nowhere except maybe at the pool bar in some afternoons, but even then the wait was like 5 min at the most. After a couple of days we were puzzled about where all the people are and even asked different crew members how many passengers were on board. The answers were consistent - about 4,320. So it was sold out, but it didn't really feel at all. Maybe has to do with the demography, but we never regretted that! All bars and restaurants were good. The music bands were awesome! Didn't see any of the shows in full, but sneaked in a couple of times to stand in the back and watch for a few minutes. Nothing really exciting as we've seen them before. The service was phenomenal with almost no exceptions. The crew did their best to accommodate the guests, and they succeeded in that in my opinion. Overall an awesome trip and a beautiful ship! For our 10 year anniversary, we decided to do a trip on board the EPIC with the Western Caribbean itinerary. Just a few things to consider as you read my review. We love the larger ships, but know larger ships are not for everyone. With a larger ship there will be a lot of people, there will be a wait or two, there will be people you find annoying and there will be people you like. At times, the staff will seem flustered, as you never know what may have just happened with a guest they dealt with before they now had to deal with you. (I watched a Maître D' get ripped a new one by a passenger that was obviously operating under liquid courage and the problem is something he created, not the crew member). Did I mention there will be a lot of people? Also know, I am an avid researcher of the trips I book, so I know what to expect going in when it comes to ship layout, room layout, etc. I learned there are people out there who all a TA to do everything, never do any research, and then run in to surprises when they arrive. In today's world of Tech, we have all the information needed to be prepared for a trip. We booked all of our dining reservations as soon as I could online. I believe it was 120 days out. Due to this, we never waited for a table. Always walked right up and was seated immediately. We did not do any of the shows in the EPIC theatre. We have seen numerous Burn the floor shows and Priscilla is not our cup of tea. If I had one recommendation, it would be to have a more appealing show in place of Priscilla, but not a deal breaker. Below will be an in-depth review of our Trip on the EPIC April 6th -13th. At the end I will cover the themes from the week. Embarkation: We drove into Port Canaveral Friday and stayed at the Homewood Suites about 2 miles for the port. The hotel was great. If you need a dinner place, Rising Tide Tap and Table was amazing. We waited for about 40 minutes to sit on the patio, but worth it for the view and the great food. They also had a great selection of beer choices from local breweries. We decided to park at PC. Yes it is a little pricey, but we built that into our vacation budget. I really like the control of when I can arrive and being able to walk off the ship, load the car, and to be headed back home. Arrived at Port Canaveral 9am Saturday and were in line by 9:15 (number 20 in line) doors opened at 930AM, was checked in a seated by 945 am with a group 1 boarding pass. (side note: they recently hired a bunch of new NCL port agents, so pack some patience as some information is mismatched from one agent to the next). The agent who checked us in was quite a delight and set the tone for a great trip. Boarding started a little passed 1130am, I was standing at guest services at 1142am. We were probably around the first 20-30 people on board and I am not priority, yet. Got POSH passes - worth it since the ship was sailing at capacity ($118 for the two of us for the week). More on POSH later. Once on board and finished at Guest Services, we went to headliners. Waited in line for about 5 minutes and made a couple adjustments to book the two restaurants I could not book online (Moderno and Shanghai's). After headliners we got our bearings until Taste was open, which we jumped into at 12:05 pm. Lunch was great and fast. After lunch we headed up to POSH for the first drink of the cruise (Red Stripe for me and something fruity for the Mrs.). Rooms were open and ready at around 2:00 pm. We had our first bag at 4:10 pm and the last three were there when we got back from the muster drill. We were planning to watch sail away from our aft balcony, but We were delayed due to medical emergency and according to a person in the affected party, it was a legit emergency. We pulled out at 8:03 pm (while we were at dinner). Did not affect anything, except a few dollars of taxes on the alcohol we consumed while still in port and a one hour late arrival to GSC, but the Captain extended our stay in GSC by an hour, so nothing lost. There were actually two more medical emergencies on our trip. One was handled when we arrived in Jamaica (we passed the EMTs walking up the gangway as we left the ship). There was also one in Grand Cayman that delayed tendering a little. Dinner was in Moderno and this is a favorite of ours. We did not have the dining package, so this was the only specialty restaurant we hit all week, but worth it for the pineapple. Great food and service as usual. I liked we kicked our cruise off with specialty before getting to the "I am not sure I can eat another thing" place of a cruise. Once we finished dinner we were able to jump back to our balcony and watch sail away, which honestly was really neat as there was quite the thunderstorm in the distance so mother nature gave us a great light show. Day 2, GSC: I was prepared for a 50/50 chance of going to GSC, but we made it. Not much to say here, but it is a beautiful island, so I hope everyone gets to experience it. Having the ship perks carry over like the beverage package and then the free food made it that much better. Being off early helped us tremendously as we go on the island, got great seats under a palm tree and did not move much. I was about 20 10 yards from a bar, but there were also servers walking around. As the day went on, the lines at the bar got a little longer but never waited longer than 10 minutes. I would suggest to go to the outskirt bars and not the ones in the middle right by the port dump off point. We did the Taco bar for lunch and waited in line for that about 10 minutes (ate around 12:15 pm). Excursion at GSC: We bought the snorkeling package ahead of time. We did the $50 shore excursion credit so with that and my Silver status discount, cost me about $9.00 or something like that. Worth it for priority tendering and not having to book my tender reservations. Snorkeling was okay, but you get the stuff for the day. Saw a few fish, but after an hour we had our $9 worth. Dinner this night was in Taste. The food was good, cannot remember what I had. I was going to do the whole photo journalism thing, but decided to leave my phone in the room. Service was friendly and fast, maybe one hour and 15 minutes total and we went around 7:30pm. We hung out in Howl at the Moon for a little bit, which is always fun. Day 3, Day at Sea: I will use this spot to talk about POSH. For us, this was totally worth it. Being our 10 year and having no kids with us, we wanted a little quiet the best we could get on a boat of 4000 people. If we didn't get passes, we would have been fine with Spice or the Deck 18 sun deck (I noticed they set up a small bar on the deck 18 sundeck at sea days, which is a nice touch. Back to POSH. This was worth it because we never saw more than 20 people when we were up there. It was quiet, the sun was always warm and there were umbrellas if it was not too windy. The loungers are padded and are covered with towel covers that hold because of elastic corners. There was always a strong breeze, so even though the sun was hot. The bar staff were awesome, remembered our names and took great care of us. You get a pitcher water on days you are up there, which for water drinkers like my wife and I, was almost worth the price of admission. I am not a tip ahead of time kind of guy, but I will tip with great service, and did. We grabbed some pre-dinner sushi and it was some of the best I have had. Price averaged around $8 a roll and I felt worth it. We then did a later dinner in Manhattan, so we dressed up a bit and enjoyed ourselves. Day 4, Jamaica We had a great time in Jamaica. There is shopping right off the pier that was decent. There is a market about a half a mile from the pier, but be advised, the are quite aggressive and stuff not really special to what you could get at the other shops. Your typical straw market goods. There is a jerk chicken street vender right inside the shopping mall area that is amazing. It is a good size portion too that can be shared between two people for a lighter lunch/ heavy snack. It was $10 and came with some of the best rice and peas I had, along with some of the best chicken I have had. Excursion: We did the Zip Line and Bobsled. This was worth every penny and we had a blast. The staff was hilarious, the zip line was through the beautiful forest and the lift ride to the top gives you some great views of the ship and the forest as you ride up. The bobsled is a lot of fun and a special thanks to the guys for joining me in the "Cool Runnings" bobsled send off. If you don't know, time for you to go rent the movie. We did a late lunch in O'Sheehans. We did have to wait about 10 minutes for a table, but it was worth it. The wings were excellent. For Dinner this night we ate in Shanghai's. You HAVE to make reservations, so be sure to do that asap. The food was great and service was fast and friendly. Only downside for us was we were still kind of full from eating lunch at O"Sheehans when we got back from port. So come hungry, if that is possible on a cruise. Day 5, Grand Cayman. Grand Cayman was a great port. We had an excursion, so tendering was not an issue and we took our time getting off the boat to go. We did a little shopping in GC, but not much. Excursion: We did the Taste of GC or what I will call the Grand Cayman Booze Tour. This was a lot of fun and our bus driver/ tour guide was pretty funny and very knowledgeable about the island. We went to the Brewery, the Rum Cake Factory, and the Rum Distillery. I will say, this is all tasting alcohol. It is great alcohol, but that is really all it is. You get to see the island, you get to hear history from your guide, but if you are not really a big fan of tasting great alcohol, this is not for you. You will get a buzz, so eat a big breakfast. We got back on board and all we wanted was so good Pub food because of all the alcohol we took on. So O'Sheehans it was. Great burger for some soaking up. We laid low the rest of the night. Day 6, Cozumel. Cozumel is a great port. The Pier goes right into a great shopping mall, where you can get a lot of great deals and things for your friends and family back home. We got off early, did some shopping, and then went and met for our excursion. Excursion: We did the Cozumel Taste and Cooking Experience at Playa Mia Beach Park. This was one of the best excursions I have done while on a cruise. My wife and I had so much fun and made some great food. If you like to cook, or like Mexican cuisine (I am a lover of both), you have to do this excursion. Your drinks are included and you get to eat a fabulous meal that you cook. You also get some time to hang around and use the amenities of Playa Mia Beach Park and there is some shopping there as well. Worth every penny. Dinner this night was in Manhattan. It was great and service was fast and friendly. Day 7: At Sea. You can see above about our At Sea days and how we spent them. I will add that we loved had our last day being at Sea. We got to relax from a busy three days in port. We honestly felt like it was our first day on the boat, and never felt the last day blues. Day 8: Time To Go Disembarkation: We decided to do the 9:30 am luggage tags. Got a great breakfast in taste and then we were in the lobby waiting at 8:20 am. (side note: this is a great place to people watch with guest services and people freaking out over what seems to be insignificant.) We got antsy and decided to walk off 8:45 AM. Was off the boat in about 10 minutes, as they have seemed to really work this issue out. There was a defined line to walk and staff spaced all throughout the walk to get off the boat. Found a porter, slipped him a $10 and we were in our car ready to pull out about 9:05 am. Final Comments: Dining: Food was good to great. I made all my reservations online, went to headliners to make a couple of adjustments. Never waited for a table. Highlights were Moderno (a favorite of ours), the sushi (best I have had), Shanghai's, O'Sheehans wings and the burger and the prime rib the last night. We only ate in the Buffet twice for lunch and once for breakfast - everything else was a sit down. Side note: I live in Charleston, SC and consider myself a foodie as we have an embarrassment of riches here in Charleston for food. The ever looming engines: There was never an issue with engines. The last night we were doing 22kts. Bar Waits: -When not using the Bar in Posh, I never waited longer than 5 - 7 minutes for a drink (including pool bar and the atrium bar). Cleanliness: -Boat was spotless. Room was spotless (Aft Balcony 13282). There is some construction going on aboard the ship and it seems the are trying to get things in order for going back over across the big pond. Was not a bother for us. The Crowd: Yes it was packed and busy, but this is a big ship. If you do not like crowds, never go on a big ship. You will wait from time to time for an elevator (we take the stairs a good bit to help with the food guilt as every calorie burned is one we can consume). Also, some people just have bad attitudes. Have a drink, you are on vacation. The Beverage Package: This was great to have and I did not have to worry about watching my bill all wee on what I was spending on drinks. Yes, some "premiums" are not included, but for me it did not make a difference. Cigar Lounge: It is worth mentioning they monitor and kick cigarette smokers out. Yes this is a big deal. Cigar smoke and cigarette smoke are completely different. Final Thoughts: My five star review is not inflated. I came to review to give a honest look at how great NCL can be. Yes, I get it is all about perspective, but its vacation, always pack some patience. We had a great time and I would go on the EPIC again. We never felt smoke was heavy, but maybe once, when passing through Casino. The ship does have a different layout than most, but do some researching and you will be just fine. We were really low key on this trip, as it was our first cruise just the two of us. We did a couple dance parties, some of the game shows, some of the music. Our best night was spent at Maltings listening to the Manhattan Band and having drinks. We got a treat with a member of four blue walking up and singing a couple songs and being awesome and doing my yell out of "Fly Me to the Moon" as he had a very distinct Sinatra feel to his voice. Our last night ended with us slow dancing to this song. Perfection. Read Less

My husband and I had never been on a cruise before and we definitely will be back! So I guess we can’t make comparisons. The staff and crew were friendly and helpful. The food was so awesome and the choices were great! We ate at three of the specialty restaurants with Moderno being our favorite. I have to have a gluten free diet and they had it noted. I didn’t even have to mention it. Lots of places make you feel like a freak when you have dietary restrictions. They even had special bread, which I didn’t expect. We saw several shows including the Cirque Epicurean show. Dinner is included and I think it was my favorite show! Burn the floor, Priscilla and the Beatles show we also saw and they were great! A really nice surprise was the awesome band in the Cavern Club? I believe the name was Blue 4? I apologize if I have it wrong because they are wonderful. The ship is like a city on the ocean. The cruise director Mandy is adorable and has a great voice for the announcements. She truly was born for that position! The one thing that was not great was our Best of Ocho Rios excursion that we bought through Norwegian. I won’t go into details, but I expect it to be up to the same standards as the cruise if I buy it through them. Thanks to all the staff and crew of the Epic for making our thirtieth Anniversary Epic! I'll try to keep this as brief and informative as i can. First, this was the cruise that experienced engine problems, missed all our ports and arrived late back to Port Canaveral, but this is a review of our experience on board and more importantly, the ship itself. This was our 7th cruise among several different lines, so the ship as a whole we really enjoyed. It's big, the food was very good comparability to other cruises, and we really liked the design of the cabin, we read lots of reviews critical of the separate shower/toilet and sink in the room. My wife and i found this cabin design very convenient. We had an aft balcony cabin, we enjoyed the view, however, there is noise on the balcony, it's not engine noise, it's noise from the wake of the water, we didn't find it annoying at all, but it was noise. there also is a slight spray from the wake that left a sea salt residue on the balcony, this also did not annoy us as we love the Sea and thought it was neat to have sea salt on our porch. We had the drink package and found it was well worth it as cruise ship drink prices are high, we did find it sometimes difficult to get a drink quickly as the bars are often busy and there could be more of them(bars) on the ship. The water slides were great, we took advantage of them while docked in San Juan for some engine repairs, most of the 4100 passengers were on land, which finally opened up the pool area for us and a few other passengers to enjoy(it's typical on cruise ships to not get a nice chair by the pool, as they're always crowded and there is a wait in long lines for water slides). A piece of advice, if your going to bring the 1 bottle of wine per person on board, NCL will charge you a $15 per bottle cork fee, i suggest you sneak it on in your checked luggage, the "cork" fee was pretty tacky. Overall it was a really good cruise, NCL did their best to keep the passengers informed and entertained on a disrupted cruise, and they gave us credit towards our next cruise, which we think was fair, in fact we already booked our next one . We stayed in one of the mini suites with a balcony. Our room was very clean and spacious with tons of storage space. Our room steward, Kabul, was so friendly and accommodating with any of our needs. We chose the unlimited beverage and dining package. We hung out in the Atrium and the martini bar and at O' Sheehans the most. On a ship full of people these bartenders and serving staff made you feel as though you were their top priority. They knew our names by heart and were so friendly. Raj and Made at the atrium bar were the greatest. Our cruise director, Mandy, and her staff were so fun and entertaining. Lots to do on the ship. The ports of call were fun. Did not do any excursions just shopping. Our dining experiences were superb. We ate at Teppenyaki, Lacucina, Cagneys, and Modernos as well as Taste and Manhattan room. We are not buffet people so we did not go there. We had window tables at most every restaurant. At Lacucina we were seated with a gorgeous view of the sunset off the bow of the boat. Best table in the house. The food at every restaurant was so tasty and hot and fresh. As usual the wait staff was excellent. Toward the end of our trip my husband ended up with a major cellulitis infection in his big toe. We went to the ship doctor and had a great experience with a very kind and compassionate staff. It's expensive but had we not gone he would probably have ended up needing his toe amputated so it was worth paying for. In summary, we will sail again and only with Norwegian. We were totally pampered and spoiled and entertained the whole week by their staff!! Read Less

Friends of ours who have been on several cruises, recommended the Epic Cruise. It was our first ever cruise and we were celebrating our 30 Year Wedding Anniversary. The entire experience was awesome! The Ship was first class with outstanding shows and entertainment. The excursions were great experiences and loads of fun. The service on board the ship was top notch! We especially enjoyed the Cirque Dreams Epicurean show, Burn the Floor Show and the music entertainment of the Epic Beatles!!!! The only excursion of disappointment was Jamaica as the tour guide was unorganized and the island itself was not what we expected. Our favorite excursion was Cozumel, the tour guides and the cleanliness of tender boat and Passion Island experience was most enjoyable. The variety of food offered on the Epic and how delicious it all tasted was beyond expectations. The bartenders kicked butt!!!! We already put money down for our next cruise. Read Less

We chose Norwegian lines basically because my husband isn't a dress up kinda guy and Norwegian doesn't have the formal dinners! They have several dinning options. We enjoyed the buffet, they have a different dinner theme every day so you have new choices daily. The young girl that was the greeter at the buffet every morning and evening was so sweet and was the perfect person for the job. We also liked to destinations that this trip offered. I recently had health problems and open heart surgery so the getaway and relaxation was greatly needed. The entire cruise was very relaxed and not fast paced. The entire staff were so happy, friendly, helpful. Our mini suite with a balcony was beautiful, and had more storage room than I ever imagined. We did 2 excursion, Dunns river falls-bamboo beach in Jamaica and turtles and swim with the stingrays in Grand Cayman. Both were exciting and fun, well worth it to see and do. We had such a fantastic time it would be awesome to do it more often I didn't want it to end! Read Less

The ships staff was friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable about anything that we might need or want. The entertainment was top notch, especially the Cirq De Epicurian, that was completely surprising, as the food was great and the show was completely engrossing! our shore excursions were better than anticipated, as the staffs of the individual excursions were just as polite and friendly as the crew on board the ship. Our cabin was functional, but small, as is the case with every cruise ship we've been on, but the bed was a bit short, my feet hung over the end of the bed. Embarkation and debarkation was smoother than any other cruise we've ever been on. Activities on board were different and interesting, and seemed a bit original, other than the usual bingo. Read Less

We arrived at Port Canaveral the day before our sail date. We went out to dinner, walked to the entrance of the port and we saw our ship, Norwegian Epic, docked. It was so big. We had the a shuttle pick us up at the hotel and brought us and our luggage to the port for embarkation. We were expecting a line, which there was but it moved smoothly and quickly. We checked in and got our keys. So excited to get on board. We found our cabin, bigger than expected and was very pleased with the large balcony which was VERY large. We met our steward, Walter and immediately asked to have the wet bar cleaned out and 2 deck chairs for our balcony. The case of water we ordered was already in the cabin. Walter was very efficient. He handed me a bottle of champagne! Loved that touch. By the time we finished exploring the ship, our luggage was in our room and the wet bar was emptied. Walter showed up with the deck chairs! We were very happy with everything. The food, the drinks, shows, restaurants, nothing disappointed us. We disembarked to all our stops which was easy. Jamaica was a let-down. Too many people asking us if we wanted taxis, rides, excursions, etc. Overall, the beaches were beautiful. We enjoyed walking at every stop. Each night for dinner, we had wonderful service. Most places were crowded but we expected that so no problem for us. My husband and I were very pleased with everything. Thank you Norwegian Cruise Lines for an unforgettable experience. Read Less

NCL always treat us well and are so nice. On this cruise, for us, it was all about the best band on this ship...4-Blue!! We never missed a night listening to them!! We watch them on YouTube at home since we miss them!! One downfall was when they got to play on deck one night but they only played for 1 hour! We, the great crowd of an audience wanted MORE of them, but they weren’t given permission to play longer.....the biggest mistake of the night! THE ONLY other thing we are not fond of are the design of the rooms. But we both agree this was one of our BEST trips ever! Big ship with lots to do! Stage shows were great also!! We are not a fan of having to make a reservation for some of them, but that’s how it is on this ship! The water slides are AWESOME....especially the toilet bowl one!!! Highly recommend Teppanyaki for dinner... it’s a WOW!!!!!! It’s a must!!! Bliss the nightclub was unpleasant the night we went....6 of us. We didn’t stay long. I pray they aren’t all like that on other ships. We enjoyed the pool areas a lot, and we enjoyed the couple, man and woman who sang onboard deck, but the raggae band wasn’t that great. In fact, I wanted to go elsewhere when they played. All other bands were really good!!!! We relaxed at the Martini bar at times....and the Beatles Band was VERY GOOD also!!! We’d take this same cruise on this same ship again anytime!!! Loved it!!! Read Less

The Epic is a large ship, so there is always a lot to do. We sailed Jan 23 for 10 days so some of the concerns we had heard with not being able to get chairs to sun ourselves were not a problem at all. I think this may have been because it was an older demographic due to a 10 day cruise. We had a balcony room 9087 and it was fabulous. It had more storage space than I could have ever imagined. We over pack and we still didn't use several areas of storage. Be sure to really look everywhere because there are places you wouldn't even guess that open to put things. It was wonderful. The bathrooms are unique and not my favorite but they were not as bad as I had anticipated after reading other reviews. If you make reservations for dining it is best but even if you don't the lines seem to go quickly. People started lining up early so it seemed like the line was awful but as soon as they opened the doors it was fine. The few specialty restaurants we went to were good but if you didn't do any I think you would be fine. Some people did specialty dining almost every evening and were very happy. We didn't go to the buffet until towards the end but I was pleasantly surprised. The shows were so-so, I would say that I have seen better productions on Carnival but they were still fine. I was not a fan of the Pricilla show but the acting was good. The main desk was fantastic and extremely helpful with anything you needed. I was very impressed with all of them and especially Angelica. I was leased impressed with the line (almost hour long) to stand in for the internet manager that was not very helpful nor very friendly. There needed to be two people in this area at peak times, it was ridiculous. Someone should have seen there was a problem and gotten some help. Overall I loved my cruise but if I have this issue on my next NCL cruise I seriously have to consider not cruising NCL again. The ports of call were wonderful and the way NCL makes sure that you are taken care to get to your excursions is very impressive. Almost funny, but very impressive. Read Less

We didn't explore Cape Canaveral because this was our third from this location. However, if it's your first then come a day earlier and take a tour of NASA Cape Canaveral. The embarkation and disembarkment were easy. The service from the staff was exceptional most of the time. The food overall was the best we had all year cruising and that was our forth cruise in four months. The port excursions were very good and the $50 credit for each cable against were both occupants booking was great. The ports selection and ship was the main factor for selecting this cruise. The Epic is a beautiful ship and easy to navigate. The specialty restaurant overall were exceptional except for Cagneys which was disappointing because the service and food. We enjoyed the movie nights under the stars outside in H2O on the back of the Epic. Finally, the entertainment was excellent. I would love to cruise on a transatlantic on this ship in the future. If the worst part was the embarkation, you're fine. Food solid all around with plenty pf variety. Entertainment amazing, just make sure you reserve. Activities well planned and more than enough. Please ignore people who are never happy, complaining about stupid stuff while refusing to see the bigger picture. If you couldn't find something to eat or do on this ship, the problem is you, not the Epic. You go on a megaship then complain about it being crowded. Doesn't make sense. All these small things could happen any time. Sure, they need a bigger port, but miniscule detail. Embarkation started badly, but ended smooth and once on board it was forgotten. Complaining about the room? It's a place to sleep, shower, and poop. The layout is non issue for me. It was all around fantastic and highly recommended. The cabin was functional and works. I like the separate toilet and shower. Itinerary was good, a little disappointing not getting into great stirrup, but I get it. Jamaica is beautiful. Andre, the cruise director is fantastic. If you want quiet and relaxing in luxury, go on a smaller niche ship. The pros far outweigh the cons. At the end of the day, you're on vacation. Read Less

This was our second voyage on the Epic, it isn't may favorite ship but hey I was on a cruise so nothing to complain about. The thing I don't like about the Epic is the location of the casino and the smoky air. I wish cruise ships would put smokers in a glass room. I have breathing issues and it really bothers me. I don't understand why cruise companies would ruin their ships with smoke. We had a great time overall though. It was our first 10 day cruise (other cruises have been 7 days) and it was fantastic. Didn't get to stop at Great Stirrup Cay, was looking forward to exploring the other side of the island that we didn't get to when we were there the first time, but we got an extra sea day which are my favorite. We did however go to Harvest Caye the other private island and boy is it beautiful island. We also stopped at Ocho Rios, Jamaica, George Town, Cayman Islands, Costa Maya and Cozumel. I love cruising in the Caribbean but I am getting tired of the same ole stops. I really wish they would add new stops to the itineraries. Read Less

Boyfriend’s mom booked cruise barely a week before we set sail. From booking to disembarkation, everything was out of this world! Food was phenomenal, customer service was outstanding! Not a single thing I could complain about and the family agrees! Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The food was consistently delicious and always different. Never had an issue with too many children although it was kid friendly. They had their own section as did the adults so crossing paths was never overwhelming or distracting. The on board shows were super entertaining and the main attraction cirque de solel precormanxe was insane! Unbelievable talent and poise from the performers with just the right amount of comic relief. Throw in a little audience participation and one of the best prepared meals we had on board and you have a night for success. Needless to say, we are planning next years Norwegian adventure already! The service onboard was fantastic but a little slow in some restaurants. The French restaurant was the best all round, with the seafood to die for. We had a large balcony which was the best cabin we have had with the staff Jo Ann perfect. The hotel Director the best in the company always with a smile and a joke. Made time to chat with everyone. The ship was very clean and well stocked and the food great in all restaurants. Getting on and off the the ship was ok and the stops were nice but sometimes a long way from the city Rome was 1 and 1/2 hours away and cost to much to get to the big city’s. Read Less

Recently did the Norwegian 7 Day Western Mediterranean tour : Departing Barcelona, Naples, Rome, Florence/Pisa, Cannes, Palma (Majorca) and back to Barcelona. This was our first big holiday without children (!) and we wanted something to remember, so we booked rooms in The Haven. Wow! The Haven room was amazing, we had a balcony and spa in our room plus all of the extras you get with The Haven. I cannot recommend highly enough The Haven. You have your own butler, a concierge, your own restaurant, priority access on and off the boat, early entry into shows on the cruise and many more things. We loved it. The cruise was great too - we missed the port of Naples because of bad weather and went to Civitavecchia. That was a horrible place and not worth getting off the boat for had we known. Lots of con artists walking around trying to get money off people and nothing worth seeing at all. The rest was amazing. The tours through Norwegian was very expensive. I only booked 2 of them at the end. The rest of the tours I did with other tour organisers at each port. Almost half the price for some of the tours. For a couple that just wanted to have some quiet space, fantastic food, great customer service and to be spoilt - this was the perfect experience for us to do that. We used the following tour places for our ports: Cruising Excursions - booked a private tour and saw all the sites in one day (rushed but better than huge coaches full of people). This tour was basically wherever we wanted to go, which we enjoyed. Tour guide was good - but not fantastic with information. We had booked through Viator originally for our Rome port - and they cancelled 2 days before we left, which was really disappointing. Viator (Driver in Rome) - booked a semi-private tour of Florence/Pisa. This tour was great. We got to Pisa before a lot of the other tourists and the tour guide was amazing. Really enjoyed this one. The tours in Cannes and Majorca were through Norwegian - so we were like cattle herded around. Not overly enjoyable but we got to see great things. Read Less

4th Cruise all NCL, Epic, Spirit Escape and now back on Epic. We had four fantastic days in Italy beforehand two in Rome then two in Florence then returned to Rome for sail, took early train from Florence then connected to Civitavecchia to get the ship. We couldn't see transfer shuttle and ended up walking to port about 35 minutes and as we were excited to get on board it wasn't a problem. We only waited about 30 minutes in the terminal before we boarded about 12.15 Luggage was in the corridor with in 90 minutes and room was ready for about 3.30pm. Smooth as could be hoped for, the benefit of boarding in Rome is that only about 700 people board, after a ship tour and lunch it was muster time in the Epic Theatre for the Rome guests, muster takes about 5 minutes then they spend half an hour telling you what the ship has to offer, we had some beef with this, it was basically a sales pitch and we just wanted to enjoy our cruise many guests thought the same. (cabin review separate) Steward was excellent and always had our room made up and turned down in good time and perfect every time. We had premium all inclusive which gave us 14 bottles of water in our room an excellent addition to our cruise Shows, Priscilla was excellent, the costumes, numbers, acting all brilliant, a must see, some people say reserve but there was a few spare seats. The Epic Beatles, we seen them twice in the cavern club, it was not too difficult to get seats if you get in early but i'm told this is not always the case, we found all the shows, dinning, bars on this cruise were never at bursting point, busy, but not to the ridiculous scale we found on the Escape, especially the Atrium shows everything was very accessible but still a great atmosphere. This point alone made our cruise. The Escape was just tooo much people, even though this is still a "Big Ship" it seemed much less hectic although there was not a great deal of kids on board!! Bliss nightclub has had a great makeover since our last trip but we didn't spend much time here but it looks absolutely stunning , Howl at the moon, one of our favourite shows we got to see three times as there was always seating even mid show, always great! We like shakers but the singer was not our favourite each to their own I guess, also seen Jenifer Fair the operatic singer twice, fantastic!! Ports:- Florence we had already done pre-cruise so opted for a ship day, weather was not the best unfortunately but we were ready to chill and have a book day. Cannes we have done previous cruise so we decided to do Nice and Monaco but decided last minute to do Nice only we did not regret this as time may have been too tight to do both via train and we had a great day in Nice lovely walk along Promenade Anglais then we took the €10 petite train winch let us see more with stunning views. Palma took the NCL $10 bus to the old town and had a great day perhaps our favourite. Drops you off at the cathedral. Barcelona We have visited this beautiful city often so we just intended to walk around the city and reminisce but the previous day we befriended a Canadian couple and ended up giving them the $5 tour which we thoroughly enjoyed, the company made the differance. we spent a few nights in their company nearer the end of the cruise, we love meeting people on the cruises, and we met plenty this time around! Sea day weather sucked, so we renamed it bar day!! Naples We got our only proper excursion here, we used Italytours.EU to do Pompeii Sorrento and the Amalfi coast at only €69 per person we can not recommend them enough. Only 15 people on the modern minibus, so no waiting around on others between stops, we noticed a NCL sanctioned tour in Sorrento and as they walked passed us I noticed there was 50 people + all following each other and they probably paid double what we paid. small groups for the win!! All in all our day was perfect 2 guided hours (€15 entry) in Pompeii, 2 hours in Sorrento alone and great views of the Amalfi coast. Dinning Twice in taste 4 and 3.5 out of 5, Service was slow second night. Twice in Le Bistro 5 out of 5 both times and Cagneys once 4.5 out of 5 Manhattan once 4 out of 5 Garden cafe was so so, bit cold as buffets can be too often!! O'sheenans was always great for some wings and a beer!! Always a great atmosphere on this part of the ship the entire cruise. We even had breakfast there a few times. We love the Epic its a great ship and will most likely sail on her again! Read Less

This was our first cruise which we did for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Embarkation and disembarkation was really smooth and very quick (about 15 mins at check in). The ship was very clean and our cabin (a balcony) was spacious and the steward Bernard was always available to assist and very friendly. Dining in the complementary restaurants was fine and the food and service was very good. We ate in one of the speciality restaurants (Le Bistro) which was wonderful and the food was delicious. We went to two shows Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Burn the Floor both very good but very different. The ports were the main reason we chose this cruise as it visited all the places we wanted to see. We had excursions to Pompeii Rome and Florence and enjoyed them all. We just walked in the other ports. We would definately use NCL again. Read Less

What a wonderful cruise! from the health club to the spa to the dining room and everything in between. Tons of entertainment throughout the ship, the lines were minimal including the ice cream bar! At 154,000 tons, this ship is so big that you barely feel the waves and the ship builders really went all out on the elevators, water slides, pools and theatres. Our waters and housekeeper were excellent! The excursions did seem to be overpriced so we did a bunch of shore activities on our own and found this to be more entertaining and certainly more economical. We were fortunate to board in Rome since the ship also embarks in Barcelona and this is a much bigger crowd...2/3rds of the passengers get on in Barcelona vs 1/3 get on in Italy. The Port we enjoyed the most was Florence Italy followed by Canes France. We would take this cruise again in a heartbeat. Thanks NCL! Read Less
