I chose this cruise based on the itinerary. We chose to embark from Barcelona because it was much closer to the port and I prefer starting my cruise on a weekend day. The embarkation was very easy and stress free. We were on the ship in less than 15 minutes. Disembarkation was also easy. Very orderly and quick. The ship was pretty good. Cabin location was ideal for me. It was at the back of the ship but had cabins above and below therefore it was quite. The balcony was covered and offered some privacy unlike the ones directly below. I actually like the odd layout of the bathroom, it made getting ready quite easy for 2 people. I had both the unlimited drink and 4 specialty dining package. The dining was awesome. Cagneys, the Italian, French and the Teppanyaki were very good. Also ate at the Manhattan Room twice for dinner. Taste twice for breakfast and the Garden Cafe several times because it was more convenient for those really early mornings excursions. We also did Cirque Dreams which was a dinner show. It was very good entertainment. There were actually really good entertainment onboard. I enjoyed Burn the Floor. Priscilla was interesting. Overall service was good. Ports were excellent but we missed the last port due to passenger falling overboard. All my excursions were booked independently for size and economic reasons. We had no issues with that at all. We were a group of 26 adults. I would definitely do the itinerary again. Now we are looking at Greece/Croatia or Hawaii. Read Less

My friend was turning 50 so we got together for the cruise. The embarkation and disembarkation were the worst part of the trip. It took a long time and I felt sorry for older people and those with small children waiting so long in line. The entertainment was very good. We saw Priscilla, Burn the Floor and the comedians three times. I found the air conditioning very cold and as I spent a lot of time indoors I did not feel as if I was down south at all. The only outdoor space is really deck 15 and up with the pools. The loungers were all taken most of the time so we didn't stay there. It would be nice if there was an outdoor public quiet area just to sit and read and have a drink. We would go to a bar to get drinks and then go back to our room and balcony. The complimentary dining was very good mostly. We enjoyed Taste for breakfast as opposed to the buffet. The staff were all very amiable. Our stateroom housekeeper was very pleasant and happy to help with requests and questions. Our excursion in Tortola was informative and fun. The hour at the beach was great. Wish we could have stayed longer. We had an excursion booked for Great Stirrup Cay but it was cancelled because of weather conditions. Overall it was a good first time cruise experience. If we went again I would book restaurants in advance and maybe another excursion. For sure I would book a room with a balcony. I thought I might feel seasick but I didn't. I did feel the motion of the ship but it was gentle. Read Less

A group of us that are Super fans from NFL teams chose to cruise to the Bahamas, Over all the experience was not great. Food was decent, but service was slow or non existent. Ship was clean but the crew did not seem friendly and seemed disinterested, They did not make you feel welcome. This did not include everyone, just the majority. We did find some that seemed to have fun and made you feel special. Our steward never seemed to materialize but the room was clean and presentable. This was just a very disappointing cruise. Food was as I said decent, Osheehans was our favorite. The buffet was goos as well and the Shanghai Noodle Bar was also one of our favorites. Debarkation was horrendous. No organization and there was major chaos. At this time I would not recommend Norwegian Cruise Lines and our plan is we will not be cruising with them again. I have been on 2 Carnival Ships, 1 Princess and 1 Royal Caribbean, All of those I would recommend. Read Less

20-30 minutes for a drink. Never left the ship for their "private island". Called the front desk because there was dry blood on our sheets, we could never get through, it just rang and then a message said everyone was busy, try again later. Eventually had to take sheet from a cart in the hallway. Getting off the ship was horrifying. We needed to be on the 5th floor to get off the ship. We tried to get off the ship early by carrying our own luggage off. Traffic was so backed up that we we're standing in the back of the ship, on the 7th floor stairwell. And they kept calling more groups to get off the ship. I would think just a couple weeks after crushing 2 moorings and damaging the ship, their service would be on point. That was not the case. Drink package would have been worth it if it didn't take 30 minutes to get a drink. Food was good. But I can get good food anywhere. Please do not take a Norwegian cruise line adventure.... Ever.. I'll start with the things I enjoyed about about the ship. 1) I enjoyed the drink package! But, sometimes the wait at the bars were crazy. It was tolerable but could have been better. 2) The balcony view. It was wonderful sitting out every morning and night. 3) In the beginning, the staff was very nice. 4) The food at the specialty dining restaurants was very good. The buffet was average...not terrible. Now for the things I didn't like.... 1) I was really disappointed that we didn't make it to the private beach Great Stirrup Cay. I believe it was to keep everyone safe. However, some people didn't share my thoughts on it. I'm glad they kept everyone safe but I wish they would have given us a shorten beach day for a couple of hours. It did rain really hard later that evening. I understand they don't want the liability. 2) My room wasn't as clean as I would have liked. I believe they forget the mirrors. 3) The rooms are really tight. I would suggest to select the mini suite or better. (Showers are larger in mini suite) 4) The room steward didn't even speak to us on the depart day. It was like it flipped a switch. 5) The whole disembarkation process was terrible. If felt like they had never had people leave the ship before....it was over an hour to get down from the 8th floor to the 6th floor. 6) Again, the bars and the small pools just can't accommodate the amount of people on the ship. If you can afford The Haven....I'm sure there's no problem there. If I try another NCL cruise, it will be Bliss. Cruise Date: March 7-11 (Epic) Read Less

Get a drink took 45 min before anyone would acknowledge us. Heard from many staff when asked for service...I'm going on break I will get someone else to help you and noone came back. Then delayed to get off ship almost missed our shuttle to parking lot. Horrible experience! I will stick with Celebrity and Royal Caribbean for cruises in the future. Met up with 3 other families and was part of the game convention. The cruise was nothing special, too many people for the staff. Long waits for drinks little or no service from staff and the wait for all restaurants was unacceptable, 30-60 minutes before waiters and then 30-60 minutes before food arrived. On top of that our stop at the cay was canceled due to high waves. You would think a company as big as this would have a dock. Built so your customers could enjoy the private island you own So we spent two days cruising up and down the Florida coast. I’ve done several cruises and won’t be back in Norwegian . Then the debarkation was a complete and utter unorganized mess. Lines wrapped around the deck no crew to direct or ensure lines were organized. Overall poor experience if it had been my first cruise I would probably never cruise again . I will pay the premium going forward and cruise on Holland America. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it was the one my cousin picked for their 10yr anniversary. They chose this cruise because it went to St Thomas, which is where they went on their honeymoon. Boarding was delayed because someone knocked out one of the bridges. Engine failure on second day, which they apparently knew about and set sail anyways. They lied to us the entire time. Tugs pushed ship into docks when we arrived at Puerto Rico. That was the only poet we went to so they could try to fix ship, not on itinerary. We were supposed to still hit our last stop at Grand Stirrup Cay, and they cancelled that stop the night before. We slowed and were given stamp at international port so they didn’t get fined $700 per passenger. Disembarkation was a completely nightmare, as they had no control over who got off when. All of that, and they are only offering a credit. They refuse to give me my money back. Everything was terrible except drinks, food and weather! They could have handled the communication of the issues way better. If they had then all issues would have been overlooked, as we understand things are unpredictable. Read Less

We were on the Epic Fail Cruise, meaning the engines died on the 2nd day, we didn't go to any of the 3 ports we paid to see, and they took us, limping, to San Juan to work on the engines, where the Epic crashed into and sank 2 docs while trying to come in to port. The cruise was an epic fail and the service by NCL was very much below average after the chaos began to ensue. However, my review is going to be based on the ship, not the mechanical problems or the lack of planning and care for customers on the part of NCL. The Epic gets horrible reviews. We didn't think it was nearly as bad as what people say, so I want to address the main concerns I read before our departure: Cabins: Yes, the cabins are uniquely laid out. The separate shower and toilet was awesome! No, you can't see through the glass. The room curtain will block whatever you need. Because the shower is separate, it comes with glass doors!! This means to moldy shower curtain sticking to you and WAY more shower space than any cruise I've been on. The separate toilet is also kind of nice. The sink is separate and placed by the end of the bed, but this was in no way a problem for us. Of all the rooms I've had, this room had TONS of storage space!! We had no problem finding enough room to put things. AMAZING! The beds- yes they are shorter than normal and rounded at the end. There's not a fitted sheet in the universe that would fit on that oddly shaped mattress. My husband is 6'5. His feet were off the end of the bed. If this is a deal breaker for you, this is not the ship for you. Layout of the ship: People complain that the layout is confusing. It's no worse than any other ship. Everything you need is either on Deck 5, 6, 7, or 15. That's it! A common complaint is that you have to walk through the casino on Deck 6. This is true. The casino is spread out all over deck 6 and you do have to walk by machines and tables to get from one end to the other. It's hard to avoid deck 6 because not all elevators go to deck 5, so if you get on the wrong one, you'll have to walk to the escalator to get to 5, which is where Taste is at. Elevators: People complain that the elevators are too slow. We were on the ship with 4200 people. With the exception of getting on the ship, we had no issues. Our ship didn't do a normal port of call because of engine issues; I would imagine that elevators would also be slow on port of call days as well. Other than that, they are fine. Tip: USE THE DOOR CLOSE BUTTON. It dramatically speeds up the process. Food: Food was great! Buffet was wonderful, and I've had some crappy NCL buffets. This one was very good. They made crepes every night in the buffet. Trust me and go indulge at least once. Taste was excellent. We ate there 4 nights and once for breakfast and didn't have a bit of trouble. Food and service were fantastic. Taste and Manhattan offer the exact same menu, so we did not eat at Manhattan because we do not like dressing up. Shanghai and O'Sheehans got mixed reviews. I loved O'Sheehans, hubby hated it. I hated Shanghai, he loved it. It's free, so just go try them and decide for yourself! Pool deck: Lots of people complain about the layout and size of the pools. Yeah, the pool is probably on the small side, but most pools on ships are small. Not uncommon. We loved the layout and had a great time. We never had trouble finding deck chairs, as most people complain to have that problem. Bars: We had no issues getting drinks. There are servers everywhere taking orders and they are very efficient. Sometimes H20 and the main pool bar get crowded, but what do you expect on a sea day? Lighten up! They have mobile carts that do frozen drinks, so if you are a frozen drink person, hit up the carts. They are very fast! Our cruise was pretty much a disaster from start to finish and I fault NCL for that. But I wanted my review to be specifically about the Epic because the reviews are so horrible. It's not nearly as bad as what people say, and I'm a regular cruiser. Read Less

I was on the Epic Fail cruise of 2019. This cruise was best with problems that I mostly, luckily, avoided. I got to the terminal early and was checked in and seated in about 20 minutes total, very efficient. I was also among the first hundred regular people on the ship. Here is where the problems started. There was a "computer glitch" which inconvenienced me in that the servers were slower because they had to write everything down. What I didn't know was that this glitch was keeping people from boarding the ship. Huge crowds waiting in the terminal for about two hours, dodged that bullet. A little about me, I am 50 year old male traveling solo with an group of disc golfers. I have taken about twenty cruises now, mostly on NCL. I love cruising and try to cruise twice a year. I ate in the specialty restaurants almost the whole week, I never went to the buffet. As a solo I tested the freestyle concept and was pleased with the results. I purposely didn't make reservations and was still seated in Moderno inside ten minutes! The food as always was fantastic, and I choose new entrees from what I usually do to expand my pallet and was very pleased. Back to the ship, so day two we lost motor power and sat in the ocean for a couple hours. Then we slowly limped into port and crashed into the pier. My friends and I made lemonade out of the situation and went to a beach resort had beers and played putting games. Even before we left port I knew we were not making the private island, distance divided by speed means nope, so when they announced we were getting in to PC late I was laughing. Finally there was the fiasco with the arrival time. Originally told it was going to be eightish everyone scrambled to change flight plans, the next day we find out it is more like three-ish when we get in and everyone scrambles again. I drove so I didn't have to deal with that, but the level of negativity on the ship rose to astounding heights. There is a reason the ship docks at 5am, having people camped out in all the public areas waiting to get off and getting angrier all the time is probably one of the bigger reasons. I saw a woman forcing people to look at her kittens and puppies to keep them from getting angrier. Overall my worst cruise hands down, communication from the bridge was inexact and only occasional. I never saw the Cruise Director once after the first mechanical. The comedians were eating it up and hilarious but it really wasn't that funny. Finally Epic is not the ship to be stuck on, with its small outside areas and persistent smoke smell inside I was more than ready to get off the ship and that has never happened before. Read Less

I was on this cruise with a large group and meeting friends from prior cruises. The embarkment was to long waiting approx over 2hrs standing for prior cruisers from the holy ship to get off. They left the ship smelling of urine. The theatre, bliss lounge and main dining rooms floors and rugs were sticky. The hall ways stunk of urine. Other cruisers ask to have urine carpet remove n replaced in front of there stateroom . The solo lounge with two large groups was so loud other arrangements should have been made. Me and another cruisers was on the tender Cayman islands when we were trying to get back on the ship half the passengers were off a fire started. We were told to stay back n not to get off. The mate was yelling at the pilot to get the button for extinguisher but I dont think he heard mate then a passenger yell at the pilot and passenger tried pushing the button. Me n my friend were frightened n wanted to get off the tender. Safety is the main issue. We reported this fire to customer service n we never heard a word while on cruise I reported this again thru email to ncl waiting hmmmhmmmm. I have never ever been disappointed with cruise ncl ships. I have been on the epic 3 times. But this time I was not pleased. Read Less

This was my sixth cruise second time with Norwegian and my 30th wedding anniversary, I understand that up keeping on a vessel is necessary but arc welding and grinding off tie downs that were in the wrong place on the deck and closures of areas on the pool deck, very inconvenient. The specialty restaurants we did was La Cucina, Cagney's Steakhouse and Teppanyaki. All three were excellent. We also did the cirque dreams epicurean dinner , we enjoyed that show. Burn the flood was good, the comedians were funny, did not like Priscilla queen of the desert, Howl at the moon was also good. Buffets are buffets, the food so so. The bar tenders Won't make a frozen rum runner, but the drink package came in handy. Here is a good tip take the elevator on deck 15 outside the buffets up to deck 18 where there is padded deck chairs and hardly anyone around walk up to the front and enjoy. Wished we found that earlier in the trip. I don't understand why they don't have music in H20 during the day they have a big screen showing diving spots of the world. Wife did a few spa treatments she was happy with that. Not sure about doing that big of a ship again. Or at least that one, Port Canaveral is very easy on and off the ship. When getting off the ship Use the porters to get you and your bags to the front at customs. It's worth the tip. Read Less

Talked to others during trip one couple with 27 cruises another with 30-we are close to 20 if u count river cruises——Platinum or plus doesn’t help outside! Toaster and coffee pot both broken on Sat Am on pool deck-toaster still broken 3 Food and service for 10 in Manhattan was very poor-many items cold or Luke warm-took forever between courses Dinner and service at Taste much better but still not hot Invited to Platinum party -went in -helped myself to wine -but no seats-we left Irish bar still the best concept yet- but service is very sketchy on the side with the pool tables-u have to flag people down and the 20 min before u get a drink—then the menu is different on the other side-both sides should be identical-I do not know whose brilliant idea that concept was -but forget it-open the whole thing up-with all the people on this ship the Irish Bar should be open on both sides-this waiting 25 min is crazy also could use one more facility of that size-maybe Italian or Greek or mixture of both/“Mediterranean Delight” Premium liquor package-somehow managed to drop Makers Mark off the list-Grey goose still on-totally arbitrary-like trying to squeeze two Buffalo nickels together to get a dime-come on -Premium is premium-stop the nickel /dime stuff-it demeans you! Pool way to small-both of them! Elevators-only 2 sets should be 3-a long wait always Service in the food areas very chaotic and inconsistent-Taste good -Manhattan terrible-Why? Now Disembarkation-rented a wheelchair from u for last 3 days-was told I could have an Escort to push the chair from my room to beyond passport -then the daily news says u can’t-so I call the desk and they say I can’t-so I told them to go across to Hotel Services and check it out-he comes back all surprised that I do have someone coming to get me-so I get a call before 7 am saying he is on the way and should he bring a wheelchair-we say no because I have one I rented from u-boy was that a mistake/ we get to gangway checkout and are told we cannot go any further with that wheelchair we have to get another one to go down the ramp-so we hold up the whole line for 15 min-then the guard checks our ship cards-mine is not working and he thinks I should go back and get a new one-my wife said no way-use hers-so finally we leave-getting over to the landslide and have to wait for a land-side pusher to take us through customs-which he did After a 20 minute wait-So we had a disastrous time on both loading and unloading. Also many times the people in our group of 10 were told one thing by one person and the opposite by another-not once or twice but many times-almost to please us with an answer-right or wrong! Most of Bar waiters and bartenders were top notch but especially if they were tipped -now this next thing I don’t know who to blame-Ordered a Southern Comfort Manhattan with sweet vermouth and a dash of bitters on the rocks-a standard for over a century-I got SC on the rocks-SC with red coloring-a glass of SC and a glass of Vermouth (mix my own I think)-the variety was amazing including a few drinks Straight Up instead of on the rocks!- Read Less

The smoke on deck 6 made us sick, had to see the onboard doctor, which really messed up our cruise. We love the Cavern club, but it was so packed that we couldn't enjoy it. People went to the show before and just hung out. Food from the Cirque was not good at all. The meat was cold. The biggest disappointment was that they only had two scuba (we are advance divers) excursions. They did not have any for Cayman or Belize which are amazing dive sites. We had to do our own for Jamaica, Cayman, and Belize. That was a huge disappointment. When we travel on Carnival they are working with us on the ship to schedule dives if they do not have any set up. Norwegian staff would not. The TV vacation planner did not work. We would have things schedule and it would not show up and then we didn't think we had it when we did. This happened in regards to a show and in regards to a dinner reservation. The iConceirge Ap said there was an upgrade and I was never able to use it. We did the Blackjack tournament and asked to get into the one of the rounds on a table that was not filled up and she said it was after 12 when our watches said 1158 and she would not budge even showing her the time. I was penalized in the Blackjack tournament for pushing two stacks of chips in one move onto the betting space when the lady running it told me I could not and then the next lady that took over told people to do it. Bathrooms on deck (not in the room) were often out of paper towels. The embark and disembark were nightmares. I've never had that kind of problem on any other ship. My wife said she would never want to travel on Epic again but I probably would (but not without her). After the experience, I prefer Carnival and the way they do things. I wanted to like Norwegian more. The stateroom and ship and staff were awesome. Read Less

Overall this was a fantastic trip. All of the ports were awesome with embarkation and disembarkation really smooth with the exception of Naples. Getting back onboard was a chore. The ship itself was awesome. I’ve cruised in the past and I often found myself with nothing to do, or entertainment that wasn’t entirely entertaining. Not the case with the Epic. The shows were fantastic and the dining options were endless. I traveled with a large group and there were plenty of options for us to get together as a group for dinner or a show. The only thing that wasn’t 100% was the quality of the rooms. The ship is a little bit older and the wear and tear was pretty apparent in some places. There were a few spots throughout where it looked like a quick fix was in place, but it was nothing that would have turned me away from sailing on the Epic, or any Norwegian ship in the future. We choose this cruise because both of us really wanted to experience parts of Europe and this seemed like the best way to do this. We stayed in one of the Haven suites and I have to say we will never go back. The embarkation process was so smoooth. There was a minimum of 1500 people in line to check in. We were whisked away from that line and brought to another line. We filled out 3 short questions, checked in and were on the ship within 20 minutes. We met our concierge before boarding and given a private tour of the Haven private areas. We sat and ate lunch, thinking that we would still be waiting in line if we did not have the Haven. The disembarkation process was the same as well, we took our bags to he concierge desk and taken down a private elevator and were off the boat within 20 minutes. The crew and the boat was fantastic, clean and nice. I highly recommend the Epic and the cruise in general. Everywhere we ate the food was fantastic, especially at teppanyaki our cook was really engaging and funny. We saw 4 shows, cirque, comedy magician, Beatles and rock n roll and all 4 were great and very entertaining. Read Less

We were a group of 65 ranging in ages form 10 months to mid 70's. Most of us from New York, a few from Pittsburgh. Had some first time cruisers with us, this was my 30th! Most of us flew in on British Airways from JFK (but it was really American Airlines) non-stop and got a rate of $501. We spent two nights pre-cruise at the Hotel Continental Barcelona. We had several families of 3 and 4 and needed a hotel that could accommodate. Used Europe Connect for all of our transfers within Barcelona. Due to the anniversary of the terrorist attack and the protests going on, we were dumped off about 5 bocks form the hotel and had to walk with all out luggage. Driver had no choice, police had streets closed. One tiny elevator that held about 4 people and 2 pieces of luggage at a time was not great for over 50 people checking in at one time. LOL. Hotel rooms were spacious (even for my family of 4) and showers were awesome. The 24 hour snack buffet, and included beer, wine, soda and juice was a great perk. Lovely little courtyard and the balconies were great. Ours overlooking La Rambla. You need to be buzzed in on your floor and turn in your key to the desk when you go out. There are other hotels and a hostel within the building. Amazing location on La Rambla!!! Right in the middle of everything. Spent two nights. We arranged a full day private tour through Spain Private Tour Guides on 08/18. Went to Park Guell, La SaGrada Familia, took a panoramic bus tour and then ended with a walking tour. It was amazing and our tour guide Fernando was awesome! 08/19 Off to the EPIC, embarkation a breeze. Have sailed the EPIC before, the rooms are kind of quirky. Not a fan of the curved walls or the bathroom set-up but certainly not a deal breaker. Storage was an issue, but there were 4 of us in the room and we packed for 11 days away. Day 1: Boarded the ship by about 11:30, rooms were not ready until about 1:40. Had lunch at the buffet and enjoyed the sun and the pool. Dinner at Taste was great. Day 2: Sea Day. Went to the Cruise Critic Meet and enjoyed the sun. Last relaxing day, as we had each and every moment planned for each port. Dinner at Moderno was lovely! Day 3: Rome. We had a packed day planned. Private tour with skip the line access to The Colosseum, and the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps. Brief stop for pizza and gelato in between. Dinner was at Shanghai. we really enjoyed it!! Day 4: Pompei, Vesuvio, Herculaneum. Another jammed packed day! First stop on our private tour was Pompei. It was brutally hot but amazing. A welcome break was had next at the Cantina del Vesuvio, a lovely wine farm on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius. We had a tour of the winery, sampled grapes, and had an amazing lunch and wine tasting. The staff was friendly and informative! So glad we planned this. Then it was off to Herculaneum for more exploring. It was scorching and the rain showers were welcomed! This was the day of my son's 11th birthday, and 50 of us dined at Teppanyaki to celebrate. Service was fantastic as was the food! Day 5: Naples: Florence/Pisa. Once again we had a private tour and walked our feet off exploring Florence including the Duomo, Piazza delle Signoria, Medici chapesl, Ponte Vecchio, Baptistry & Bell Tower and the Academia to see Michaelangelo's David. Very brief stop for something to eat and then off to Pisa to Piazza dei Miracoli, to see the Leaning Tower, Pisa Cathedral and Baptistry. Dinner was at Cagney's and was fantastic as usual. Day 6: Cannes-Monte Carlo & Monaco. Had a little issue with our private guide here. We were split into two groups as there were 63 of us. The smaller group got to see Monte Carlo, Monaco, the Medieval Village of Eze and a flower market. The larger group only got to see Monaca and Montel Carlo, both beautiful, but disappointing that we did not see all we had planned to. Dinner was at LeBistro and we thoroughly enjoyed it! Day 7: Palma Majorca: Private tour of the Caves of Drach followed by a stop at Porto Cristo fishing village and beach with time for swimming, shopping, a bite to eat. An amazing day! We had dinner at O'Sheehan's. The food was good but everything came at once, appetizers and entrees. Day 8: Debarkation. The elevators were impossible, even at the late 9 AM time. We walked down from 14. Picked up by our bus and dropped at our post cruise hotel for one night. Post Cruise: One night at the Catalonia Diagonal Centro Hotel. Beautiful hotel with huge rooms and a tiny pool on the second floor. 08/27/18 Time to go home. As we had a 10 AM flight and needed to leave the hotel at 7, we would miss breakfast. The concierge asked how many children were in our group and packed a lovely picnic box for each of them so that they would not be hungry and have to wait to eat at the airport, a wonderful touch! Our transfer bus dropped us off at the right terminal, but the farthest distance from our airline. LOL There is a lot of walking within the airport and we were glad we chose the early pick up time! Kids: My boys are 11 and 13. This trip they did not go to the club at all. Their friends that did, enjoyed their time there. The younger one spent a lot of time at the basketball court. They enjoyed the water slides, ping pong, etc. Entertainment: We were booked for Priscilla Queen of the Damned for Friday night but that show was cancelled. We were rescheduled for Thursday night but it interfered with dinner so we did not get to go. We were so exhausted after all of our excursions, we did not get to any other shows. Our friends loved Burn the Floor and Dueling Pianos. Spent some time at the Martini Bar and enjoyed it. We had experienced Cirque and the Ice Bar on several other occasions so we did not indulge this trip but those that did had a ball. Service: Our cabin attendant Chris was great as was all of the staff we encountered. Excellent service throughout the ship. Summary: My gang of 65 had a great cruise on the Epic. The design is not my favorite of the NCL ships but if the itinerary and price were right, would sail her a third time. The itinerary is awesome, and food and service on the ship was great. I am not great at uploading pictures so I apologize for the lack of in this review. Will be happy to answer any questions if I can! See you again soon NCL! Read Less

We chose this cruise because our cruise last year on the Norwegian Star was absolutely wonderful, so we thought we’d try NCL a second time. We brought our daughter and her boyfriend (1st time cruiser) with us this time. I read a number of bad reviews about the ship a month or two before our sail date and was hoping it wasn’t true (comments about the stateroom design, ugly ship, etc.). Well, although I did like the NCL Star better for the shows, the Epic was still wonderful. While other reviews didnt like the bathroom layout, we preferred the shower and toilet separate. The sink on the outside of the bathroom was fine, we had no issues with it being there, in fact I preferred it. You didn’t have to wait for the other person to come out of the shower if you needed to use the toilet. The service was excellent in all areas of the ship, and the food choices were endless. I like how the pub was open 24 hours. Buffet food isn’t always the best no matter where you are, but there were enough choices that there was no way anyone would be without something to eat. I preferred the shows on the Star but these shows were very good too. You had to reserve a date and time for some of the shows. The staff work very hard, morning till night and they really do want to ensure you’re enjoying your time on the ship. We didn’t book shore excursions through NCL, too expensive. Instead you can find the same excursions through the web or when you get off the ship. We had a great vacation and my daughter’s boyfriend had a fantastic time on his first cruise. He will sail again and so will we. A few tips, take the train from Rome to Civitachecchia, it’s cheaper and very efficient. You can catch it at a number of the stations in Rome. You then pay 2 euro for a bus shuttle to the port from the station right to your ship, We took a ferry from Naples to Sorrento, you can buy your tickets in advance or at the port. Be sure to take your proof of purchase to the ticket window going to and from Naples. Sometimes the printed reservation accepted, sometimes you have to go pick up your tickets. Book tours through Tuscany Bus rather than NCL when docked in Liverno, much more cost effective. Also, we stayed one night in Civitachecchia after the cruse but noticed that there are a lot of companies waiting to take passengers to Rome or the airport for only 20euto a person, most companies charge 150euro online for 4 passengers and luggage. We picked this cruise because it offered a great itinerary for the price and because it offered activities to fit a variety of interests. We travelled as a group of twelve with ages ranging from 12, 16, 19, mid forties to mid fifties. Overall this was a good cruise. This itinerary meant we spent a lot of time off the boat, but the meals and entertainment were decent. Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was below average from what we have had on HA and Celebrity. Drink selection was quite good, but having to pay for bottled water because it wasn't included in drink package was a real drawback for us. Many people commented on the layout of the room as being a negative because the toilet was separate from the shower and sink, but we found this to be convienient when getting ready. There are sliding doors for both areas, so you still have lots of privacy. The boat is huge. We really noticed the crowds on sea day. I would not enjoy this boat on a cruise where you spend a lot of time on the boat. We struggled to find sun chairs and there were long lines at the restaurants and bars. Entertainment was really good. Precilla and the Cirque show were awesome. We don't often attend the ship evening shows, because we find them pretty lame, but it was very entertaining. We booked our own transfers and excursions because the prices from the cruise lines are always much higher. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the great itinerary, going to places we have never been and wanted to visit. This cruise offered two locations for embarkation, and we chose Rome. There were several places that we wanted to visit in Rome and this gave us the opportunity to arrive in Rome a few days early and spend some additional time there. The City of Rome is actually quite a drive from the cruise port so using this as one of our ports would not have allowed enough time to see everything that we wanted to. The cruise port here in Civitavecchia had just opened so everything was brand new and the process went very smoothly. There also were not as many people embarking here as in Barcelona. so we were able to avoid the crowds. The ship was a bit different than others that we have been on. but there were no major issues. The toilet was in it's own little closet, as was the shower which was on the other side of the door of the cabin. The sink was in the room. The bed was comfortable for my husband and myself, but could be a problem for a tall person. There was plenty of storage in the cabin but very little walking room. One thing that we missed was a walking deck that went around the outside of the ship. There was a small "track" that went up and down one side of the ship on one deck. The upper deck and a few small pools, hot tubs, waterslide and climbing wall. The Garden Cafe Buffet was our choice for breakfast each morning and the food was excellent. We had a promotion for 3 nights of dining in the specialty restaurants and the food options offered were excellent. The regular dining room did not seem to offer very interesting options. The entertainment on the ship was very good, though several required reservations. This was a very enjoyable trip and I would highly recommend it. Read Less

I really enjoyed my cruise to the mediterranean. However, I think the ship could add a little more diversity for different cultures. It seem like most of the entertainment was geared toward one particular ethnicity. Overall, the ship is beautiful and the dining experiences were wonderful. One waitress in particular, Simone in the Taste dining room was superb. I liked dining in there just to be pampered by her. One other thing I didn't like was my cabin steward only filled our ice bucket one time during the entire cruise and only changed the linen twice. He said it was Norwegian's policy that they only change the linen every 3 days so if you are on a 7 day cruise, your linen will only be changed twice. The ship is huge and it is easy to get lost on it. I had a wonderful time cruising Europe. It was indeed an EPIC ship with an epic experience. Look forward to experiencing some of Norwegian's other ships. Thanks for the experience. Read Less

Overall a very mediocre experience on a quick 3-day trip. I can honestly say that with the exception of the BBQ on the private Cay on day 2 every meal was just bad. Just really quite bad. Excessively greasy and under-flavored at every meal. I regularly marveled at how even basic things like eggs and hah browns were terrible - they're pretty easy to get right. Wait times at sit-down service venues was very long and many of the servers spoke very limited or just poor English so orders got screwed up at all of our meals. But it wouldn't have mattered anyway, because the food was seriously just gross. Service was mediocre. Don't recall a single employee smile anywhere in the 3 day journey. Not exaggerating. The app is terrible and the internet package is only good for 250 minutes and can only be used by one cabin occupant at a time. The on-shop app is terrible, too. Early 2000's technology at best. Biggest highlight was the unlimited drink package, but we needed the drinks to distract from everything else. 80s night was fun, others were forgettable. Only my second cruise, first being on Princess, and definitely my last on NCL. #EpicFail Read Less

This was the first experience on NCL and it will surely not be the last. From the check in to the disembark customer service was at the forefront. I was never not greeted or asked was I alright or did I need anything. My stateroom was ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL (10278) I want this room every time I cruise on Epic. Our steward was there to attend to us whenever needed. The dining options, be it buffet or specialty were top shelf. In my opinion NCL is the cruise line to beat. I have a dietary restriction and it was fully handled by the staff with no hesitation. I did not take part in any of the shows but from my fellow cruisers I heard that they were good. My only complaint was the DJ in Bliss was not playing music to satisfy all that were in attendance. NCL, I thank you for giving me the best birthday cruise ever and I will be back next March to do it all again! Read Less

This was our second Norwegian Cruise- the first was on Norwegian Sky which was a terrible experience as well but we blamed the weather for the most part. We have been on almost a dozen of other cruises between Carnival & the most recent on the Royal Caribbean Allure of the Seas. We thought we would give Norwegian a second chance on the Epic- which looked like an amazing ship! 2 days into the cruise and my husband and I decided it would be our last Norwegian Cruise! Getting on the boat was just like every other cruise- we were on by 12-1pm. There was no entertainment by the pools- not a dj not a band. The Sail away party was a complete bust! There wasn't one!! There was a small space in between the 2 pool bars and the deck to walk through into the buffet area which was always a hassle to get through- especially with 2 children under the age of 10. Moving onto the inside of the boat- which was very nice! Always clean- however the staterooms were the size of a walk-in closet- and that may be exaggerating a touch. You walked into the room and to your left was the shower with a frosted glass door and to your right was the toilet with a frosted glass door as well- the sink which was no bigger than 12" wide was at the end of your bed! Super weird!! You had to take turns walking through the room because two people could not fit through the end of the bed and the cupboard/dresser area at the same time. These were by far the smallest rooms we have ever seen! There was definitely not enough storage for 4 people! Our stateroom was a balcony and we have never stayed in a interior room but I have to believe there are interior rooms bigger than this balcony room! The entertainment on this boat was good- I was very impressed with the amount of different music blends. However there was hardly any entertainment by the poolside! No activities by the pool and very rarely was there a dj or band. The bar service on this boat was AWFUL! If you tried to get a drink by one of the two pool side bars you would wait for atleast a half an hour! There was hardly any waiters throughout the pool deck offering drink service. This was our last Norwegian cruise- never again!! Read Less
