We chose the November 8, 2019 9 day cruise just my wife and I. We have cruised many times before (many different cruise lines) and understand things don't always go as you expect or would like, but Norwegian should be rethinking where they are going and review how their management team performed. From ridiculously long lines on day one to a tender process that could have been better managed by a school crossing guard. Food on deck 15 was basically the same stuff every day. The other "included" restaurants had pretty much the same main fare in each of them the same day..... so what is the reason for offering a choice? No matter if you had dinner reservations or not, you still had to wait in line to eat. Nobody likes to wait, right? The upscale "pay" restaurants were so expensive, most regular folks like us can't eat there. Frustrated one night we tried the French restaurant as we were not happy so far with the others, and the food was not good. I ordered a drink and it took almost 30 mins to get it. And when you finally did get it, expect between $10-$16 per drink! $27 for a glass of wine? Are you kidding me? (They knew I was unhappy and comped my drink) Obviously they are making it more unpleasant to eat in the standard "free" restaurants and forcing people to chose to pay extra $ for something we used to expect to be included on a cruise. I don't think the direction is correct, but I am just a lowly consumer I guess. The waiters seemed to do more walking and running back and forth instead of servicing their tables. Most of the time we had to ask for salt/pepper shakers, very little butter on the table, little coffee cream available. Ran out of milk every day. All the while "managers" walked around trying to look important. Played poker every day and not once did the Casino manager come by and offer comps. You can't even get a bottle of water without paying for it! The rake on the table was 10%! We asked to have the stakes changed to 1/3 from 3/5 but they wouldn't even consider it. The other music/piano/juggler entertainment was good. Hard working hourly people were polite, the room was clean. Overall the ship is beautiful. Management really needs to review and better understand consumer expectations. Did not do any of the excursions due to the fact we have been to most ports before (and the cost!) The ports were so crowded with the same old T-shirts shops you wanted to get back on the ship as quickly as possible. Heaven forbid you have to go through the tender process more than once. Looks like we'll not chose Norwegian again any time soon. Sorry for the negative review, but hopefully someone will use my opinion to improve future sailings for others! Read Less

We were not impressed with this old tired ship. Furniture is not only dated but worn out. It has plumbing issues so bad that with three hours notice we were told that drilling and plumbing repairs would be happening from 11pm-5am!! Sorry for any inconvenience! That’s about the attitude of the Ship throughout the trip. We had to be diverted from Venice because of flooding which was not Norwegians fault however where did they take us....to the nearest dump of a port no one had ever heard of...Ravenna Italy. There is absolutely nothing in Taveena so the ship arranged two shuttle buses to take approx 1200 passengers into town!!! We waited in the cold night over two hours trying to get on one of these shuttle buses then gave up. Food quality was so bad we finally took to eating at the buffet. That should tell you how great the restaurant’s are...the menu was almost the same junk every night with just a different way of preparing same. On five occasions we had to send the meal back to the kitchen as it came out almost cold. Out of thirteen shows only four could be considered entertaining the rest were fill ins with mediocre performances. Example was a chap from Germany who was basically a one man band. Hopeless. Cabins are very small and poor furniture in them. Our friends didn’t even have a chair for the little desk in the room. Shower had mold in the tiles. It was just awful. The only saving grace was our cabin steward who did his best to help us. Would we ever travel Norwegian again...not likely especially when they also make you pay for everything!! Water included. Drinks are the highest in the industry plus they add on a mandatory 20% gratuity charge. Average drink is around 13$ US!! And up. Read Less

My friends were going on this cruise and had been on Norwegian before, my family and I had not. This ship had the worst service in history, my family and I were SHOCKED. We bought the ultimate drink package and thought we'd get a chance to use it but that was just a dream, unfortunately. The bars were completely understaffed. We had to wait 30 minutes each time we wanted a drink from the bar (really the only place you can get drinks on the ship unless you want juice). We even waited 30 minutes even if we only wanted a pepsi or diet pepsi. We asked a server to get us drinks or a pepsi and were given dirty looks as if we'd committed some kind of crime. None of the staff or bartenders even understand the drink package or ultimate drink package. My friend had to print out the info on the drink package to show those in charge that san pelligrino water was actually included in the package (otherwise they were charging us for the bottles). For days I tried to get diet soda cans in our room but I was repeatedly told this was not possible, the ship didn't have diet soda. WHAT? And certainly didn't have any cans of diet soda... On the 4th day, my friend met with the Food & Beverage General Manager who advised that yes there was cans of diet soda and the GM sent 6-7 to the room (this was greatly appreciated). But why did it take 4 days, repeated interactions with staff, guest services, housekeeping, room service etc.? If you have a problem in your room, don't bother calling anyone, they never answer the phone anyway. The sun and pool deck were terribly over crowded - the lounge chairs had no space between them and people were practically on top of each other. In many cases, people were reserving lounge chairs from 6 or 7 am. There were open lounges at the top sun deck but it was so windy up there, it was uncomfortable. The pool easily had several hundred people in it, so if you didn't get it in early and stay in it, you couldn't get in it at all in the afternoon. The ropes course and slides were nice but since it was always terribly windy these were typically closed. (If you have been on Royal Carribean's Anthem of the Seas or Harmony of the Seas and loved it, you'll be bored out of your mind on this ship. There isn't enough for the 13 year olds to do especially with the wind problem. The main/regular dining options have horrible food and even worse service. Our server never even got us drinks and dinner took 2 hours. No one on this ship knows anything. We would go to guest services for information, they would send us elsewhere. We'd go to the X place as directed by guest services, and X place had no idea and would send us back to guest services. Guest services would send us back or to somewhere new. To say that the staff and servers are uninformed and don't care is an understatement and they certainly show it. The exception being the specialty dining. The service in the specialty dining - particularly Ocean Blue and Cagney's was great and the food was even better. We ate here several times (we wouldn't dare go to the Manhattan dining room or any other regular/main dining room). Also, don't bother with O'Sheehan - this dining experience also took several hours and the server was clearly overworked and unable to manage the guest load. Most of the food here wasn't great but the wings were pretty good. We also ate in the Italian restaurant - good food and decent service. Our kids (6 of them) ate in the hibachi restaurant and enjoyed that as well. The entertainment - music and comedians were great. Very enjoyable. Booking an excursion was challenging and we were told that the excursion we wanted was filled. So we went to Virgin Gorda on our own (saving hundreds) and it was beautiful. Definitely worth the trip. We were scratching our heads because we only saw 5 people from the cruise at Virgin Gorda Baths all day and the excursion certainly wasn't completely booked as we were told. The spa was nice but the staff didn't appear to be knowledgeable and are always pushing products even after I said "I don't want to buy anything" they still kept coming, pushing stuff. It made it a very uncomfortable experience. The thermal spa was also nice but it was difficult to get a chair and the floor was slippery, I wiped out and hurt my arm and knee. I made an appointment in the spa for a mother-daughter massage which was re-scheduled 3x because our reservation kept going "missing" - finally on our last day when it was there, we got our massage. During the massage, my daughter's massage therapist left the room for 10 minutes. I asked my therapist if she was okay and was coming back. My massage therapist said yes she left because of the weather. My daughter's massage therapist finally came back and resumed her massage. A few minutes later, she left again and I realized the vomiting noises I heard (and was hearing again), was my daughter's massage therapist. I couldn't believe it!! How could she be vomiting and then resume my daughter's massage as if everything was just fine?? Once I realized what was happening, of course, I became very green around the gills but I immediately stopped the massage. With the norovirus being commonplace among cruise ships, I would expect if someone was feeling ill or vomiting, he/she would not work on or with the guests. In this case, I think the massage therapist was sea sick but I can't be sure. I am so grossed out and horrified. Just as bad, I paid for this debacle and am worried sick about what my daughter was exposed to. On the last full day, there was a storm in the afternoon. The staff was slow to realize the impact of the storm and tie down lounge chairs to prevent them from being blown all around (into people etc). Do yourself a favor - go on any other cruise line. We were very underwhelmed by our cruise. We had a balcony room towards the front of the ship. The room was clean, but nothing spectacular. The TV channels were almost non existent, we had 2 movie channels and 1 sitcom channel, the other few channels were related to the cruise. The beverage staff was slow and constantly forgot your drinks. There was little to no entertainment on the ship. The smoking section was so small there was never enough seats for everyone to sit. Additionally, you weren’t allowed to smoke at the bar that was located in the smoking section. Food was mediocre and the service one night at the four seasons was horrendous. We were there for almost two hours after being seated and it wasn’t because we couldn’t decide what we wanted to eat or drink, it was because our server kept disappearing. I will definitely not be going back on a Norwegian Cruise. Read Less

My husband and I are longtime NCL guests. We chose this cruise based on the convenience of departing port being close to home and also based on the itinerary. We have taken numerous cruises with NCL and were very disappointed in this cruise. It lacked all of the reasons we usually choose to vacation on this cruise line. Embarkation was disappointing. First time ever where it seemed chaotic and disorganized and the lines were beyond long. Once onboard it was apparent that the ship was not staffed appropriately. It seemed that there was minimal staff to accommodate guest needs. Unable to be seated in timely manner at specialty restaurants that were pre-booked prior to boarding that were 3/4 vacant at time of reservation. Food service took a ridiculous amount of time to arrive after placing an order. Food was over salted to the point of it being inedible. There was a medical emergency on deck 12. The guest was injured and bleeding in and around the hottub. I watched as the crew without gloves attended to the guest contaminating the surrounding area. The location was never properly sterilized after the emergency. Hot tub was never drained and cleaned/disinfected. They absorbed the blood with pool/beach towels. The shore excursions meeting location was set up poorly in every port. There was one canopy set up along side the ship with few chairs for guests to wait however the tour organizers did not allow us to wait under the shaded canopy. They had us gather in lines in the sun for 15-30 minutes prior to the tour start. Another medical emergency occurred on the day of the last port. The ship was full speed ahead to get back to Boston a day early which meant we lost a day of beautiful weather, use of the pool, outdoor activities. I have always enjoyed cruising with NCL but was really taken aback by what was lacking in this cruise. It makes me question whether I may want to rethink NCL being my cruise line of choice for my family's upcoming European vacation. Read Less

We usually cruise Carnival and thought we would give Norwegian a try. Never again! Just a few things that made a huge difference: Staff not nearly as friendly, no soft serve ice cream machine, no free 24 hour pizza, no indoor shuffle board or bags, food not nearly as good, and entertainment not as good. We will stick with Carnival! Our cabin was nice, but the kids room and arcade was at the end of the hall so it was always noisy. Bartenders did not know how to make drinks. The mojito bar is a joke! All the mojitos are premade and taste horrible! The only decent thing was the wings in the sports bar on deck 12. If you are on this ship and order breakfast go be delivered to your room anticipate them being late and order early delivery. Customer service is lacking on this ship. Very sad. Read Less

Although the itinerary was a dream come true for me, the ship itself and its management had a lot to be desired! I know it’s was a repositioning longer cruise than usual, but the staff and management were so unprepared and disorganized constantly that we cannot recommend this ship! First, they ran out of a lot of staple type food items, like Iced Tea, Orange Juice, Lettuce bananas. Second, the venues were too small for the size of the ship. Every show was standing room only and that was only if you got in line AT LEAST one hour in advance of the show! Third: something happened that prevented us from being able to go to Portugal. We looked at it from our balconies but were never allowed to dock!!!! Fourth: They herded is like cattle everywhere!!!!! Line upon line for TWO plus hours each time we had to disembark or Renee the ship!!!! In Miami it was FOUR hours!!! Fifth: Shore excursions: NOT what was described in brochures or on line... drove three hours to spend two hours than given 15 minutes to shop when the brochure said 6 hours in that location! Also several times the excursion said meals included and they were NOT! Seventh: the Bahamas Private Island was a joke! It took FOUR hours to tender everyone off the ship only to have another ship there first and all the beach chairs taken before our ship arrived and again ran out of food and drink. Sixth: Dining room food was cafeteria quality and service was so slow it took three hours to dine. Apparently that was caused because immigration in Denmark did not allow several hundred crew members to renter the ship!!!!! Seventh: tithe rooms were the narrowest I’ve ever had on any cruise line ever! NOW in all fairness, the specialty restaurants were mostly good ( except Cagney served a mushy lobster in shell) Le Bistro is outstanding, Ocean Blue is also! The buffet food was unique and very good with lots of specialty options, Peking Duck, Prime Rib and A Cheese selection that was gourmet! The ship was pristine and immaculately clean in all areas! The stewards and wait staff were very friendly and professional. If I had to do it all over, I would pay the extra for The Haven as their area and service was fantastic. They had use of private pools and spa, concierge service and never had to wait in line for anything! If I had known the difference in the service on that cruise, I would have booked The Haven!!!! 35 yo, couple. We really liked our trip to Bermuda with Norwegian Escape. It was a really cool adventure as first-time cruisers. The ship is well maintained - the staff is super friendly and the balcony cabins are spacious for a couple. The complimentary food was OK. Not the best but we did enjoy it. The shows were awesome. Our main problem was with the SMOKING been allowed on the ship in the casino. First of all we couldn't play in the casino because of the smoke. BUT even if you didn't play the casino you coudn't avoid the smoke - the casino is located in the midship near main attractions and dining area. you just can't avoid passing through the casino that is packed with smokers. Disgusting and unhealthy. My wife is pregnant and we really suffered from that. NCL - please progress to 2019 and don't allow smoking on the ship. You can allocate dedicated closed smoking rooms in the casino but please don't force everyone to suffer!!! Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the itinerary. We have travelled Carnival numerous times, however we had little choice since Norwegian was the only ship with desired itinerary. Compared to Carnival, this ship was not good. Food rarely changed and we grew tired of the menu by day 3. If you wanted to eat different food, you would have to pay extra (a lot extra). There was a hidden fee of ~$16 per day per person. We got hit with an extra $448 service charge because we brought our 7 and 9 year old. This charge was to replace tipping and you can sure notice to service depletion as a result. This cruise was approximately 1.5 to 2 times the cost of other cruises. We did not find the value for these increased costs. We will not rebook with Norwegian again. I will admit the entertainment was better than some Carnival cruises I have been on. Read Less

The only good thing about the cruise was the group I went with. Pool bartenders and servers were great. But the rest of the service was ok. Some servers were rude others were nice. Not accommodating for larger groups. Gave us a day at sea instead of the private island due to hurricane damage without adding any additional entertainment for us on the ship. Pools were small. Not much to do on the pool deck besides the pool and jacuzzi. Hidden fees that were not explained during checkout. Was supposed to be a party ship but it was more couples and families. Overall it was just okay. The comedy show was good. Food was average for a cruise. Needed more options for the nighttime. Read Less

I went on this cruise for my play daughters birthday. Although the bliss is a beautiful ship the service sucked. i payed for specialty dinners for two. i try not to eat off of a buffet because l don’t eat meat nor anything cooked with meat. i could not get any reservations at the seafood restaurant or any of the specialty restaurants . I was not informed in advanced that getting reservations was going to be so difficult. the last two days of the trip i was finally told to go to the restaurants and see if they could seat us. The seafood restaurant told us no but cagney’s was very caring and understood my dilemma. They also were able to make room for my daughter that is wheelchair bound. Cootos to cagney’s and the people that helped us. when all the other specialty restaurants told me no, they said no problem. The buffet food, i’ll just say for lunch and dinner was bread and salad for me. This is the first cruise i did not know my stewards name or who he or she was. i cruised for 7 days, the first two days my room was not made up at all. the third day it was after 6 and they came to make up my room and i wouldn’t let them because i traveled with three disabled adults that were going to sleep. Even though i asked that my room be made up no later than 6 the day before. AND THEY DID NOT MAKE ONE ANIMAL NOR DID THEY DO ANYTHING SPECIAL TO MAKE US FEEL WELCOME Read Less

When the night of your cruise is how well the bar staff and your room steward is that should tell you a lot. Twice while dinning inmain formal dinning room our order was lost. We spent over hour 15 minute both times. The menu basically change between 2 different ones.so unless you opt for paying extra for meals dont expect any thing of quality. The back buffet serves hot dog and hamburger till midnight. The main attraction for breakfast was runny egg omelets. Forget getting an ice tea before noon. After 5 you can only get ice tea in dinning room. My room steward answer my question correctly customer service did not. Bar service was excellent. Prepaying tip is not recommended. Dinner staff in main room dies not care even had one hostess tell us they know we already tip so why care. Bhilly and aileen gave great service in midshipmen dinning room. The food quality was okay. By the why has anyone ever heard of walleye cod? On the menu one night questioned it was oh yes tasty fish. Not one single shrimp dish was served for 5 day cruise. My husband purchased this cruise for me as a holiday gift - we love cruising, and have cruised several times with NCL. The fact that Jersey Boys (one of my favorite musicals) was on-board was the proverbial icing on the cake! We were excited! We flew into Vancouver late the night before, with the expectation of boarding the boat in the late afternoon. We enjoyed the sites, ate a really good lunch, and proceeded to the cruise terminal. At this point (after receiving an email) we knew that the embarkation process was delayed, and that boarding would begin at 7pm. There was a line 3,800 strong. Luckily, we were seated in a holding room due to the fact that my husband is a disabled veteran. But it went down hill from here. The check-in process did NOT go smoothly. I had entered my CC information online prior to leaving home, but the agent at the desk failed to notify me that it didn't save. Once we stepped on the ship we found out that one of the ports had been cancelled (Seattle). (This was especially disturbing as I had forgotten some medication and had arranged and paid my neighbor to overnight it the port for pick up - except, now.... ). Then, by the time the agents make it through the line, we have the mandatory safety drill at 11PM - no one is "feeling it" at this point and tempers are flaring, including the lady doing the demonstration who actually yelled at passengers to SHUT UP! at one point. Nice. We awake the next morning to a letter that a cash deposit is required, since there is no credit card on file and we proceed down to the guest services desk and wait another hour or so in line. (they tired to close the line just in front of me, but I wasn't having anything to do with that. I made them listen. I am not a rude nor normally pushy person by nature, but I was already pretty dissatisfied.) My husband and I decided to schedule a spa day. We arrive for our appointment in the spa (couples massage) and are taken to a "pre-massage" relaxation room... that has 10 warmed beds, music, curtains in between for privacy, except 9 of the 10 bed are full and there are two of us - hence the couples massage. We offer to reschedule, however they WILL NOT let us leave (obviously fearing missing out on the up-charges) and throw my husband and I into the spa haven place where others have paid to enjoy private saunas and jacuzzis. Whatever. The massage was decent. Thank goodness! I'm not sure if it was the sheer size of this ship - now the largest in Norwegian's fleet - or the way this vacation started, but it really felt like one huge disappointment. Like when you're excited because you're going to Disneyland and you know you're going to have a fun filled day - except you spend all day waiting in line! That's this cruise to a "T"! LOWLIGHTS that make me say skip it: *Staff was not as welcoming or friendly as other NCL trips we have been on *Ship is SO large that you wait to dine anywhere or even to see a show *Don't dare ask for a non-alcoholic cocktail *Buffet food could be fresher at times *No where to sit - again, too many people, not enough planning *Lack of options for food during non peak meal times *No fun towel animals on the bed - c'mon, this makes you feel special! *Feeling like numbered cattle HIGHLIGHTS that make me say consider it: *The entertainment was PHENOMENAL!!!! *99% of the food we had - outside of the buffet - was out of this world! *Hey, you're on a boat! All in all, two thumbs down on this one. And this previously hard-core loyal NCL sailor is seriously reconsidering if they earned my loyalty on this one. This ship itself is beautiful, but I would not sail on this vessel again. Read Less

We choose the NCL Epic from previous experience on the Jade few years ago that was very good for family with kids. But the Epic was very disappointing, the room was tiny and not comfortable. We ordered a balcony room for family and the shower is in the entrance of the room with only curtain that gives you privacy. The sink is in the middle of the room. After opening the bed there is no way to the balcony. And if got stuck outside the room 30 min until maintenance came to change batteries in the lock. The show except the circus are not for kids. And if you want to see something in the circus show you have to pay 50$ for person to see something. The bowling is fron age 6 and cost 7$ for a player which not written anywhere until you get there. The buffet is ok but not something to remember. As I wrote at rhe beginning we choose the NCL because they are known for their freestyle cruises and spouse to be for families but except for the youth program (Splash) and few slides at the pool we didn't find something truly exciting. Been on 5 cruises total. This was my first with Norwegian and I'm sad to say it will be my last. We traveled with a group of ten, ages ranging from 35 to 65, all who have cruised before and all were pretty disappointed. The bars were not staffed for the amount of people needing to be served, and if you wanted to enjoy any shows, comedy clubs, or entertainment, you better make sure you make a reservation the moment you get on board and plan your whole week out right away. Which is not something they tell you. Without a reservation you are unable to enjoy the entertainment they have. I have never had to book to see shows on a ship. We did manage to get into the rock of ages show!! Super amazing, if you get a reservation I highly recommend it. I've also never had to have a reservation for the free normal evening dining. The food is so so. I was not impressed. We enjoyed three of the specialty restaurants along with the normal Buffett and evening dining, the only one I was impressed with was the French restaurant. The service in the restaurants was wonderful as well as our room service and staff. However when out and about on the boat I found it odd to not see staff members waiting on guest or seeing if guests needed drinks etc. The atmosphere for myself and the group I went with was way to laid back. The whole ship was quiet most of the time including leaving port. Missed the music, dancing and excitement that usually comes with a cruise to the Caribbean. Lastly the two shore excursions we did were wonderful. I've been to Tabayana beach more than once it's still one of my favorites for snorkeling. We also did four wheeling in Cozumel, this too was wonderful. Have nothing bad to say about the ports. Overall this was the most expensive cruise I've been on, with the poorest overall service and enjoyment. Read Less

We took this one cause it was cheap my wife found last minute tickets. We had to drive from Minnesota to Miami in 2 days. I have cruised before so I was really looking forward to this. It was also my wife and mine 21 wedding anniversary. We got one the ship with no problem after about a 1/2 mile walk. Once on board we looked around and went to find something to eat. First place food wasn't good. We ended up going to every place that had the free food almost every meal every day. It was the only way to get full. My wife was like I thought you said the food was good. I could only say it always has been in the past. Then they didn't even go to there private island. Said they couldn't cause of winds. But I find it strange that we sail all the way to the island lets us see it, let us go and get the tickets to be taken to and from the island just to say we arn't going not only that but Princess has an island right beside NCL's island and they had no problem going to there island matter of fact they had not one but two ships at there island. I've always heard Carnival was the worst but i've been on Carnival and this was by far worse. I would never cruise on this ship or one as old as this again. To keep it simple the trip was bad. I would give the food a 0 stars maybe 1. entertainment a 1 no more. Ports a 2 only really cause Nassau. overall I would never cruise with Ncl again period. Read Less

The destination was my primary reason for choosing this cruise line. I had never traveled with Norwegian, but heard it was good. We had problems with the setup of room and accessibility to outlets for my laptop. The cost of the internet was way above other ships I have traveled with. The room was not cleaned from the previous people. Mirrors on the outside of the bathroom needed cleaning and an empty liquor bottle was left behind the night stand. Food was average to less than average and not hot on the buffet. The buffet was more like cafeteria food. I was VERY disappointed in the lack of friendliness of dining staff, the lack of glitz or niceties that most ships offer - like towel animals, etc. The ship was fine. The entertainment very good, especially Jose and Patti. They made the cruise for me. Shore excursions were quite expensive. I will not travel this ship again. Read Less

I'm sad I spent my vacation time and money on this cruise. Out of 3 ports, 2 were canceled. We spent so much time at sea, and there were very few and very poor choices for entertainment. The ship atmosphere/vibe was solemn and dull. Not many self service, around the clock food choices like other cruise lines ( NO ice cream, pizza.) Had the premium drink package but the bars were so slow and disorganized that it didn't seem worth it. Th ship windows were filthy so it was hard to enjoy any views. The restaurant choices were limited. The food at the buffet was bland and there were a lot of unappealing choices. Breakfast stuff was great, though. They shut the deck down really early in the evening so you couldn't enjoy being out there. Left on Monday afternoon and wanted to go home after Key West on Tuesday! Read Less

We have been RC cruisers for sometime. We cruised Norwegion about 3 years ago when a cruise special included a drink package and specialty restaurant package at an incredible price. The food was very good and the overall experience was very good. This initial cruise was on the Getaway out of Miami. We really enjoyed that cruise, so we signed up for future cruise credits totaling $1000. The following 3 cruises did not match the the initial value or experience. This cruise finished up our remaining credits. We have a done a total of 4 cruises with Norwegian now and none have compared to the initial cruise experience. Our boarding experience was smooth and quick (probably 10 minutes total). The cruise director had great personality. The quality and variety of the food was our main complaint with the Breakaway. Food was bland, buffet often out of items and the food was generally poor or at least mediocre. We we surprised how noisy it was in Savor. We seemed to be seated near large families/groups more often than not. This is probably more of a reflection of the passenger demographic during our cruise. There was more families onboard than we expected this time of year. We did not use the specialty restaurants, so our feedback does not include those venues. The majority of the activities are scheduled at the Atrium and the 24 hr eatery (Pub) is just above this area and it's often noisy and the speakers are often cranked up too much. The library is right next to the Atrium.....the noisiest area of the ship? The service staff are friendly, but during peak times service is slow. Unfortunately, this ship is like other huge ships that are popular today where the staff to passenger ratio negatively impacts service quality. Employees have to work harder and passenger experience suffers. We really like the Waterfront bar areas on level 8 along the outside of the ship. We wish some of the furniture was a bit more comfortable/functional, but the outside covered area is nice when the ship is moving and there is a breeze. The entertainment in the Theatre and dinner theatre was very good. The shows Velvet, Rock of Ages and Burn the Floor were all very entertaining. The guitar player (Leo) was a better than average guitarist and he could sing a large range of music. We enjoyed his sets in the Atrium. The two other music acts we saw in Manhattan and Shakers bar were not as good. Disembarkation took around 45 minutes. There was a very long line from one end of the ship and back to the other end. People with disabilities or difficulties should beware. We are in good health/fitness, so was not an issue for us. The line moved along adequately, Will we cruise with Norwegian again? We tend to focus on overall value. Norwegian needs to address their food quality. It's hard for Norwegian to compete with the benefits our Diamond Plus benefits of RC. This is probably a little unfair, but it is our personal situation. Read Less

Myself and 3 friends traveled on the Norwegian Sun on a 4 night Bahamas cruise for our annual girls' trip. We were incredibly disappointed. The food was between poor and mediocre, many of the staff seemed bothered, or downright rude, and the public restrooms were disgusting. There was water (or it may have been urine) on the floor of many of the bathrooms. Not pleasant, especially when dressed up nice. Though we did not bring any young children, I would have been really mad if I did. The kids pool is a joke, It is so small, almost like an afterthought. We had a balcony on the 10th floor, and it was a pretty standard cabin as far as cruise ships go. We did not go to any of the shows, or do any excursions, so I can;t comment on them. I have been on approximately 12 cruises, mostly Royal Caribbean, and a Disney. This was by far the worst, and not worth what you get, That being said, we had an amazing time spending time together, and had a blast hanging out with other guests, as almost everyone was there to have a good time and were friendly. The Champagne bar is the place to go if you need a drink. The bartenders Mario and Ryan were friendly and quick. The drink package is also a great thing, Read Less

it recommended by a travel agent, the ship was late because of hurricane but did not received a notice from the ncl app. waited 4 hours to board the ship. did not like the excursions for the money. the stops were good but awfully expensive, dining was open I like reserved dining. the food was cold most of the time. needed a area for playing cards or games embarkment was chaotic should have a ticket to keep it orgqanize to get on a bus for the airport the help was very nice. smooth sailing, had to go to service agent to find out about our money, it did explain it too clearly. liked the food and service at o'sheehans the buffet was ok need to keep food warmer getting off and on the boat for excursions was great. We have cruised on NCL many times. The Breakaway is an awesome ship with solid service. The Epic is the opposite in every way. Service is awful and staff, especially front desk, is rude, condescending and scattered (e.g. the first rep we talked with had no idea what the Posh Beach Club is). BTW, Posh is nothing like the amazing Vibe Beach Club on the Breakaway. It has no hot tub, just a boring, hot deck for which a pass costs way more than it's worth. The Epic cabins are old, musty and poorly designed; with the toilet separate from the sink which is unfortunately the first thing you see. The cheap glass door makes sounds & smells from the toilet a constant nuisance. The gym had two of three exercise bikes "out of order," the ice machines were constantly broken and the Garden Cafe was closed too many times to count. Great itinerary (Rome, Florence, Barcelona, Cannes, Palma) but overall, this is the worst NCL cruise we've ever taken. Epic Failure! Read Less

First, our impression of the ship. The ship is not the newest or largest so usually it did not have priority to tie up a the closest piers and we almost always had to take a shuttle. The entire ship is decorated in a Chinese style. Even Cagney's steakhouse looks more like a Chinese restaurant than the Sushi Bar. La Trattoria is a section of the Raffles Buffet that is closed off in the evening and not very cozy. It appears as though Norwegian tried to adopt the ship to their style and include their restaurants. The Bier Garten consists of some picnic tables by the pool. The Blue Lagoon and Shanghai Bar are only some wide spaces on a main fore and aft passage. The Pub is nice, but small and crowded. Le Bistro is pleasant and Raffles works well. Rooms were up to par and very clean. The staff was very professional, helpful and friendly The fitness room was well equipped, clean, and quite empty. Dining at le Bistro, Cagney's Steakhouse and Teppanyaki was outstanding. The food was always delicious, properly prepared and served. I can't say enough good things about them. The Main Dining Rooms, not so much. They were very spotty. A good meal was a pleasant surprise. Examples were waiting over half an hour for an cold appetizer, fish being served lukewarm or dried out, a salad with cheese that had no cheese in it, a picatta dish with mystery white sauce on it with no capers or lemon seasoning, bananas foster with raw bananas. You get the idea. Although we were in port every day, the ship was out of things that were on the menu (fresh eggs, sorbet, baked potatoes) and not always for only one day. Salt and pepper shakers were missing from sections of Raffles Court. Small things, but that what you pay for and not up to Norwegian standards. Would I take this cruise again? Yes. Our reason for making this cruise was for the ports of call and they were terrific, but as expected, not long enough. Hope this helps you. Read Less

We went on this cruise for a family trip to get to know the Baltics. The ship has a lot of things to do, but if is going to cruise the baltic sea it should have an indoor pool and more indoor activities, the weather was good only the first two days, the rest, all the outside was impossible to use The baltics are beautiful countries, but the amount of time you stay there is very low and my perception is the only reason is because Norwegian wants you to consume inside the ship vs in the city. One example was when we were in Tallinn, we had to be on the ship by 15:30, in front of us there was another ship from TUI, they were asked to be there at 23:00, the next morning when we arrived to Helsinki, the TUI ship was already in front of us, so the reason is not only to be able to travel. Another complain is that Norwegian apparently lost a lot of what a cruise is, no welcoming reception, no animal towels every night, etc. They are going to far with this free-style experience. The food was awful in almost all the restaurant, no typical food, no variety. The only one where we had a good dinner was Cagney the Steakhouse. The Seafood restaurant was fully booked since the first day, meaning that it should be bigger to allow all passengers to try it. Entertainment was nice, particularly the Cirque of Steam and Dreams. The arcade areas were also nice for the kids, but I didn't want them to spend that much time inside. The service was average, some people were very nice, some were not. Generally a disappointment from the ship and crew perspective Read Less

Embarkation was simple and easy. Went right into ship. However, very little direction given once you were on the ship. Room - Room was nice 9244. I suggest that room if you can get it as it has an oversize balcony. Service in the room is far below what we have experienced on Royal Caribbean and/or Carnival. Simply, he made our bed and changed towels. Nothing more. The issue in the room was he charged us on the first day for a bottle of whisky and a red bull. However, we had never even opened the refrigerator. We finally (on the last day) got the charges off. The service wasn't bad it was just nothing like other cruise lines. Food - Simply put the idea of free style dinning is a farce. They tell you that you can choose from many different restaurants every night that are complimentary. However, they all serve the same menu. The food was usually luke warm at best as it is made in a central kitchen and then delivered around the ship. The food was simply mediocre. I have had better food at a Dennys. The first night we ate at O'Sheens (not sure how to spell it) it was without a doubt the worst service and worst meal we have ever had on a cruise ship. We were provided three waters and then our "waiter" took our order. Then we never saw from him again for over an hour. When they did finally deliver our prime ribs, they were disgusting. WAY over cooked and not even warm. The waiter set them down and walked away without speaking. It was so bad we simply left and went to the buffet. The buffet on the 15th floor is pretty good actually. Well staffed and well stocked. The service and attendants were awesome and friendly. Food was what you expected it to be.. Shows - Burning the Floor was one of the best I have seen on a ship, Broadway worthy. However, many shows cost extra money and you had to rush on the ship to make reservations. This is no an all inclusive ship. You have to pay for many many many things. They are constantly hounding you to attend an way over priced art action that is the same art you find on almost every ship and cruise line. Comedy shows were a bit raunchy for what was supposedly a PG13 show. Casino - STINKS, smells like an ashtray. The MALE dealers were almost all rude and unfriendly. The claimed to have $10 black jack tables but then rarely opened them up. The casino is in the central walk was so you are forced to walk through it. Then they are rude to children who stop and look at the lights. The casino was a serious letdown because of the attitude of the dealers. Numerous other players complained about the contrast between the male and female dealers. COMMUNICATIONS APP - DONT BUY IT. IT doesn't work. We spent $30 for all three of us to use it. The phone portion of the app never worked,...... NOT ONCE. We couldnt even call the front desk. The text messaging simply did not work. You would send the messages and the other person would never receive them. When you are using this to communicate with children this is a problem. I went to the desk to ask for a refund and was told they would not do it as it is all done electronically. Trivia games - These games were often and fun. Allowed for lots of people to play and participate. However, it is located next to and beneath an open air bar and many times you could not hear the game or movie that was playing. The staff who manages and run these fun games was outstanding. Children's games. They had many games around the ship and a full game room. However, $160 to play a video game is unbelievable. These are games that are .25 cents. The game rooms were mostly empty the entire cruise. The rock climbing wall only had one person running it with a line 50 people deep. He was eastern European with a serious rude attitude. The head three ropes and courses but only one attendant. The wait time exceeded two hours. Even after numerous people complained there was no change during the entire cruise. Putt Putt golf course did not have enough putters or balls. The game room had many games but not one had all the pieces. This room was a total wast. Both the game room and the library were full of kids screaming and yelling. There were no cruise staff there to maintain it in any way. Internet - When it worked it was "ok" at best. However, the round every minute so if you use it for 1 minute and 3 seconds they deduct 2 minutes. Since it takes a full minute to get connected, you are charged usually 3 -5 minutes to connect. If it is NOT free, dont pay for it. \ Excursions - we did the beach and snorkeling in Honduras. Enjoyed it. However, we basically paid $300 to ride a bus to a beach, borrow a make, snorkel and fins. The lunch that was served was terrible and not very good. This was our 18th cruise and first on Norwegian. We will most likely never cruise with them again. The free style dinning is not very good and the food is mediocre to below average. I would not cruise this cruise line again unless it was an unbelievable deal. Read Less
