I wanted to be on a cruise for my birthday. The staff treated me like I was a special guest. The entertainment was great. There were so many things to do I couldn't do them all. I always had something fun to do or could just relax. My cabin was very comfortable and the housekeeping staff was friendly and efficient. The food was exceptional on the buffet, in the dining rooms, and the specialty dining. I only missed going to Grand Bahama Island because of the devistation hurricane Dorian did to that beautiful island. The other ports were great. The shore excursions were entertaining and enjoyable. The ship was beautifully decorated, designed for convenience, and very well maintained. It was exceptionally clean and especially liked having staff all over the ship with hamd sanitizer to ensure the safety and health of all the guests. I already put a deposit on a future cruise Read Less

We chose this cruise because we wanted a cruise that went to 4 islands and this one was the best fort us. We cannot compare to other cruises because it is our first cruise ever. Everything for us was perfect, we really enjoyed the cruise. The dining was for all tastes. There was a lot of different kind of places to go eat. Everything was very good. The entertainment was spectacular, we really enjoyed that too. The ship was not to big it was easy to go from one place to another. Very good for us. The cabin I think was OK since we don't know other wise. I tough the ports was more entertaining. This is commercial port so no beach or shopping near by. I was a bit desapointed about that. Except for Maui who was ok, the shore excursions was really great and "Roberts Transportation" was super !! Read Less

I'm so glad we went despite some of the negative reviews. I have not one complaint! Although every trip has a snag or two, I just don't sweat the small stuff. We loved our mini suite. Yes, it may be as big as other ships suites, but it was certainly big enough The larger bathroom with the nice shower was great! The room steward was nice and friendly and we were obliged in every request I read lots of complaints about food before we left but I thought it was excellent. So many choices we didn't hit them all. We could find something 24 hours a day. The bars were great! We had the drink package and felt it was well worth the money. I'm not even a big drinker but 7 days I sure put some away and it was worry free. Some people I met did not have the package and regretted that in about day 5. The excursions were well organized and we had a great time on each one. We had the sea plane excursion and it was canceled due to weather. Once again, although disappointing i just didn't sweat it. We just picked something else and I was happy I could go on and on but I just feel if everyone could just relax and remember the staff are trying to please about 4000 people at once it brings things into perspective. You may encounter that one crew member that isn't as friendly or helpful as they should be but that is just a one off. Don't sweat it, find someone else to ask Read Less

The service was wonderful. The ship is big and clean bur you would never know there was 4200 guest aboard. Elevators were plentiful. The cruise was to maine and Canada out of NYC. The weather was superb. The ship had plenty of space for those who wanted to stay at the pool or quiet time to get sun and be in the jacuzzi. Our cabin was a balcony and had enough space for the 2 of us. It was cleaned every day and we had midship so we could see right and left. The food was superb especially the specialty restaurants. We enjoyed the steak at Lo Bistro and Cagneys. La Cucina was great Italian food and we sat outside which made us feel that we were ocean side. The best was baymo superb fish food with real lobster. The best part of the cruise was the service. All of NCl ships should take lessons from the Escape personnel. They could of not be nicer and efficient especially the director of food and beverage. What a staff. We have cruised often and will return to the Escape. Read Less

My daughter 4th Birthday and she wanted to go on cruise. So I surprised her and we had a blast. It was both my sisters first time cruising and they loved it. The experience was wonderful. Staff was great. They weather held up even thought we wasn’t able to go to Great Stir due to the storm. They did give us a little credit for the Inconvenience. The Bahamas was great but I wish we could have been their longer. Over all I would defiantly come back and try another ship to have that experience. The crew snags for my daughter and sister birthday and they loved it. I was happy that they made sure everyone coming in the dinning area or buffet used their hand sanitizer that a assigned staff member sprayed in your hands before entering. Get the germs away. Drinks was very delicious. Until next time toodles. Read Less

We chose this cruise for the price. The ship was very clean and refurbish. I loved the linen because they are taking care of the ocean. The food area was small and very clean, small plates and different options. You can even dine out. I did not like the they were not visible signs directing how to get from one place to the other. We went across the dinning pool area to get to the pool and it got crowded. I enjoyed that many activities were going on, that way we had options to choose. The store were small and not well assorted. The Fun director Luz was not the right person for the job. She was missing that charisma for the position. In the dinning room the staff was not as efficient because you had less staff. You also need more water stations, so people can keep hydrated. They were hard to find. Read Less

We always wanted to do a cruise to Venice and the Greek Islands. Norwegian offered this cruise which suited us perfectly. The ship and crew were great. Great food lots of restaurants to choose from. Cabins 9076 was great with a great guy who cleaned up our room every day. Lots of bars to choose from. Also great entertainment in the Stardust Theatre. Shore excursions were great but found them a little expensive. We would definitely choose Norwegian again. Great trip. Embarkation and disembarkation went very smoothly. Found the crew very friendly and helpful. Great choice of single entertainers. Ship was very stable no rocking. Seemed very organized when tendering the passengers to places that the ship could not port. Very pleased the captain went into Santorinni even though it was very windy and other ships cancelled. That was one highlight of the trip. Also great port to start out in as we went 2days in advance to Venice. Really enjoyed it. Read Less

I loved everything about the cruise and the ship. The food, accommodations were great. State rooms were a little small but we had a balcony. My disappointed with the cruise line, was there was no Greek food. I feel since it was a cruise thru Greece, they should have had a least one night with Greek food and deserts. I enjoyed myself and liked everything about the cruise. The service was great, the stewards, waiters and waitress, the bartenders . Was surprised that there were no more stores. Liked the sales for the bags and chains. I No enough chairs or lounges at the pool. People left towels and didn't sit there all day. Feel they shoukld take the towels away after 2 hours of a no show, COULD NEVER SIT AT THE POOL. That upset me. But all in all I loved Norwegian Cruise line and will definethly go with them again. This was our third NCL Cruise. Our first ever cruise to Alaska. I should change my CC handle to "CigarCruiser" because, I will always address cigar related issues to cruising. Cruise ship musts for us include cabin comforts, specialty restaurants, and a reasonable cigar lounge. NCL continues to meet these criteria for us. We had a mini-suite category cabin on deck 8. We ate at 7 of the specialty restaurants (5 for dinner and 2 for lunch). I visited the Humidor Lounge daily. We chose the "sail away" rate, as opposed to the more inclusive rates. Our rationale is that we don't drink that much. In fact, I'm pretty sure the "Gratuity/Service Charge" of $154 per person was greater than the amount we consumed on the voyage. I didn't use the ship's internet. We bought a 4 meal specialty dining plan. The Restaurants: La Cuccina, Italian. I had Osso Bucco, my wife had Veal Scallopini. Very good dinner. American Diner. We had lunch. Its kind of open air, so, it was chilly. I had skirt steak chimichurri ($15). My wife had their cheeseburger ($11). Cheeseburger gets vote for best burger at sea now, surpassing previous #1 of Carnival's Guy's Burger and HAL's made to order burgers. Yeah, you have to pay for it, but, its worth it. The skirt steak was great, also. This one isn't expensive enough to use your meal plan, so, I don't think many people are eating there. But, its worth it. Q, Texas BBQ. I had the Texas sampler with brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and chicken. My wife had the ribs. This was surprisingly good. I've never been a brisket fan (I guess, being from Alabama). The brisket was very tender. Everything else was very good. We'll go back. Our bill total before being zero'd out by the meal plan was about $70, so, it justifies the meal plan, but, just barely. Teppanyaki, Japanese Hibachi show dinner. This was fun. I had filet and scallops. This specialty actually costs more than our local similar restaurants at $39.95 apiece. So, this one and Q, I think seem to be unsubsidized by the dining portion of your cruise fare. Increasingly, the costs of the specialty restaurants appear to be comparable to similar quality restaurants on land. But, its worth using the specialty plan here. Cagney's, Steak. This was the best Cagney's we have experienced. Both of our steaks (a filet and a porterhouse) were cooked pretty accurately. This was very good. I'd say half way between Outback and Flemings or Ruth's Chris on my quality meter. The cost (without the dining plan is also about half way between. Great choice for your specialty plan. Food Republic, Mostly Asian. My wife loves this place. Its all small plates. We tried a few, and spent $70 (didn't use specialty plan). It was all good. I particularly liked the pork belly with ramen and the scotch eggs. Le Bistro, French. We had 8 oz filets. They were different from Cagney's, which surprised me. Also very good. Just a little less expensive than Cagney's, but, not much. Probably your second best choice for specialty plan. The Humidor Lounge, Cigars. If you enjoy a cigar or two while on vacation, this is a nice hideaway on the 8th deck. Unlike other ships, its not attached to Malting's Whiskey Bar. There were signs (3 of them) prominently displayed, stating that this lounge for for cigars only and that cigarettes were prohibited there. Well, that didn't matter, which shouldn't matter to anyone other than cigar lovers and cigarette smokers. If you like cigarettes, then this place beats the pants off of the corner of H2O Spice, where it was cold through most of the Alaskan Cruise, and many smokers were only too happy to adopt this as their home at sea. I was fortunate to find a seat in the lounge for my cigar. I didn't complain, and I don't think anyone else did, either. But, NCL, to their credit, did make a few attempts at enforcement. But, too many staff came through to provide implied consent. My fear here is that this is fast becoming an airport smoking lounge. When the ship realizes this, they will just re-purpose the room. The cigarette smokers will go where they are allowed. And, cigar aficionados will abandon the line. There are 18 comfortable seats in this room. You have to use the telephone to order drinks or cigars. One decent smoking bar would generate more revenue, and it would show more concern for their cigarette smoking/paying guests. IMHO. Entertainment. We skipped the Footloose show. This is notable, because the Broadway type shows on Breakaway and Bliss (Rock of Ages and Jersey Boys) were amazing. We went to the opening Theater Entertainment Sampler. They did 2 numbers from Footloose, and, I want to be charitable here, but, they just weren't good. We did go to Elements. This show was amazing. It is not to be missed. The Russian aerial acrobatic and ballet couple were awesome. The magician (PJ Wen) provided spectacular illusions. We were mesmerized throughout this show. Finally, the Beatles Tribute Band did a long set concert covering the Beatles career on Friday afternoon before we landed at Victoria. What a great show. The Cavern Club is just not big enough for the quality of their shows (also true on Bliss). But, I get what they are trying to re-create here. On both cruises where they have a Cavern Club, the band has done a long show in the theater on the final day or night of the cruise. The theater was packed for their show, demonstrating why it was so hard to get into the Cavern Club during the week. The final point on entertainment. You might be surprised to learn that the best singer on the ship is probably the cruise director, Dan Dan. He was on the Bliss earlier this year before transferring to the Joy. He is a brilliant singer. He should do a show. He will sing toward the end of your cruise. You should not miss it. Our cabin was a mini-suite, which seems a lot like a balcony cabin, except it has 2 sinks. I see some traditionalists complain about the less personable approach to housekeeping, but, I don't try to get to know maids at hotels. The guy cleaned our room, replaced our towels, got us ice, and he was courteous when he saw us. I don't think I want any more than that. The ship is like other large ships. It's beautiful. We found our way around pretty well. Once embarkation was done, it was pretty easy to get around. We didn't go to top decks much, because it wasn't really warm enough for pool activity. But, we were able to get elevators when we needed them. Read Less

Our house keeper Gabriel ensured our cabin is clean and ready to use. Melvin made our drinks on point. Our Children care personnel always had a program for the kids allowing parents to enjoy a moment without Children. Sailing was very smooth good job to the Ship Captains. Boarding the ship was very well organized. Entertainment for all ages was plentiful. Security when embarking and while on board was on point! All staff came from different backgrounds and individual staff had a name tag and a flag representing their country of origin. Good job Norwegian ship for hiring a diversified staff from all over the world. Safety equipments were readily accessible both in the cabins and in common areas making every one on board feel safe. The only thing that was hard to hold on to is self-discipline. The quarters, people, and facilities are stunning. I couldn't leave my cabin without finding it made up and snacks replaced with other snacks I couldn't walk around the Haven (ship within the ship for upscale cruisers) without someone asking if I needed them to get me anything. Haven restaurant served gourmet food every meal The off-shore excursions were easily arranged by the concierge. The 24-hour butler was just a phone call away. The scale of the scenery was grand and awe inspiring. The Jersey Boys show was magnificent. I almost had withdrawal symptoms when I got back home. Want to do it again. One of the things I really like is the opportunity to leave feedback on any crew members that stood out for superb customer service. I had to name quite a few. If you decide to go on a cruise, take this one and book a suite in the Haven if possible. I was very pleased. Read Less

When we sailed on the Norwegian Sky, in August, Hurricane Dorian was on its way through the Bahamas and our cruise had a change of itinerary. Instead of going to the Bahamas we went to Cozumel and Key West. We were just happy to be on vacation so the change of itinerary didn't affect our excitement about the trip. The cruise was fabulous, the ship was clean and beautiful. There was plenty to do on the ship. The pool was not as hard to enjoy as another small ship we've been on, there was always a chair and room in the pool. We enjoyed the nightly shows as well as some of the game shows in the bliss lounge. We played Deal or No Deal in the Stardust theater daily....and WON! We also won a small chunk in the beautiful casino. The ports, although changed, were still great. We enjoyed the food and the drinks in all of the restaurants. I was probably most amazed by the fact that the staff was super quick and efficient during embarkation and disembarkation both at the beginning and the end of the cruise as well as at the ports. There was little or no wait to embark/disembark. We can't wait to go again. Read Less

We chose this cruise because frankly, we live by Cruise Port Boston, love Bermuda and spent our honeymoon on the Norwegian Gem on its transatlantic portion of its maiden voyage back in 2007 and wanted to see whether the cruise ship really was as awesome as we remembered. It was, and then some. The embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly. Sure, twelve years has taken its toll on the ship, but it wasn't that visible. The Dale Chihuly Glass Sculpture in the Atrium of the Gem still wows. The service was great. Our balcony stateroom was consistently kept immaculately clean. The food in the buffet was so delicious it kept us coming back for more. The variety in the buffet, with its different themes each night, was terrific. Even the free coffee was delicious. The staff showed pride in their work, and the attention to detail showed. We attended four major shows in the Stardust Theater, Swing, Blazing Boots, the Chernov Brothers - Circus Dance Show and Get Down Tonight which we very much enjoyed. We were able to walk to Snorkel Park Beach in Bermuda three days in a row and took the free ferry to St. George. We traveled with our nine year old son who is on the autism spectrum, and he had a great time. We went last year on the Norwegian Dawn (August 2018) and will go again on August 21, 2020. Read Less

It was our 17 years wedding anniversary and I enjoy it to the fullest. The staff was excellent and also amazing. The service was upscale. The restaurant was great lots of food. we enjoyed all the shows and so forth. Beautiful ship, spic & span. Our cabin was always perfect! The ship is easy to get around, love the design of this ship.First cruise but went be the last, problem I have now is finding ship etc that lives up to this one, as I have earlier, the staff made this a fantastic experience. This trip is not for children. We had a a world class time. Don't have a single negative to report. If you are relaxed travelers who accept things positively, you will love this cruise.A fairly roomy cabin, full-size bed with a comfortable mattress and pillows, good linens, a bedside table, cushioned armchair, decent-sized closet with dresser drawers, room to store two duffels easily under the bed, sink with medicine cabinet, and two large bed-to-ceiling windows offering great light and views as we sailed. The shower and toilet were in an enclosed space, a shower curtain kept the toilet dry during showers. Toilet and showers worked perfectly with hot water and good pressure. I did not have a meal that wasn't first class. We stayed in one of the cheaper rooms as we were on a budget. The money that was saved on the cheaper room was used to purchase other items on our trip. The room was clean, and can be compared to a five star hotel with all the high end linens. Nice sized bathroom. The on-board facilities (i.e. gym, spa, and lounges) were nicely laid out and appropriate for the size of the vessel. The gym had all the state-of-the-art machines. From the minute you land to the time you are dropped off at the airport for your return, this cruise line is excellent. Read Less

First time on a Norwegian Cruise ship. I have be told by others that Norwegian is the best cruise line. I have taken Princess and Carnival Cruise. My best experience was on the Viking Cruise one Seine River in Europe. Several of your restaurants like the Manhattan and Taste are at the 5 star level. My children are grown. But I enjoyed seeing the staff playing with the children and believe my grandchildren would enjoy this ship. The cabins were well designed with balconies. I enjoyed the many choices of lounges and quiet areas to rest, read, sleep or just look at the beautiful ocean. I chose to go to the beaches. I did not wish to take any excursions. I traveled with a group of 14 people who either attend my church or are close friends of members in the group. We have traveled together before. OMG i haven’t laugh so much in a long time. Food was great at all the different locations, but the Churrasqueria was even better. I didn’t do excursions with NCL, as their prices were a bit more from what you could get just by disembarking, so the i never used the credit the cruise gave us. Free open bar cruise to the Bahamas was an extremely great value. Amazing to drink frozen drinks/champagne by the pool during the day, enjoy wine with dinner, followed by a few mixed drinks in the club the end the night, and not have to worry about what your tab is going to look like at the end of the cruise. Other than the drinks, the food was all excellent and service amazing in every restaurant we dined in. Tepanyaki was by far the best I have experienced. Our entire table had been talking after our meals and discussed having been to many other Japanese steak houses in the past, but we could all agree that the food and service in this restaurant on the Sun in particular was spectacular. There was always something to do with a long list of activities being given to you the night before. Entertainment was fun, comedian (Jay) was a cool guy and really funny in both of his shows. Overall experience was from start to finish was very enjoyable and stress free. What a vacation is supposed to be about! I wanted to do a cruise for my birthday this year and after looking at several cruise lines we chose the Norwegian Sky because we liked the idea of cruising Freestyle. It was AMAZING! This was our first time cruising with Norwegian and we were so impressed that I honestly don’t think we will ever cruise with any other cruise lines. Everything was perfect from the price of our cabin, to the food, the entertainment and the drinks. We did not buy any specialty dining bc we aren’t big foodies but the choice of food was plenty. We aren’t breakfast eaters so I can’t give any tips on that but for lunch and dinner we chose to eat at the Palace or Crossroads. We did eat pizza one day up on the pool deck. We never ate at the buffet on the ship but we did at Great Stirrup Cay and the food was ok but we are not big buffet eaters. We loved Great Stirrup Cay and if we ever go back we will definitely be booking a cabana!! The ships entertainment was great and they also had a funny comedian. We also bought bingo cards and deal or no deal cards in which my husband got to play that game on stage and won $40. Our cabin was on the 10th floor inside cabin and it was perfect for us. It was the same size as our camper so we felt right at home. The only thing that I didn’t like was the pool. I felt like too many people were hogging it but other than that it was the best time ever. We did take extra cash to tip our servers even though we knew we were tipping them at the end. They definitely knew us by our faces and always appreciated the extra tip. We didn’t travel with kids but we did explore the area geared towards children and it looked like they would have fun at the arcade and the other room was like a preschool. All in all we had a fantastic time! Read Less

Did a lot of research before choosing this cruise for me and my teenage daughter. We knew we wanted to spend a few days in the Anchorage area before cruising. This cruise started in Seward and ended in Vancouver. It was the perfect size ship with the best itinerary, entertainment and price. We are not big foodies so mostly ate at the buffet which always had great variety and different themes every night. The entertainment was excellent and changed nightly. The comedian was hilarious, the production cast soooo talented. Anna and Vlad were amazing. The singers (Hanna was awesome) and dancers were fantastic. We loved the port heavy itinerary, got to see so much of Alaska with this cruise. Glacier viewing from Spinnaker Lounge was very comfortable but also the outside viewing options were perfect. Whale watching in Icy Strait was so cool. Loved seeing orcas from the ship in the Inside Passage thanks to the captains announcement! Service on the ship was A+. Our cabin steward was awesome. Loved the extra touches like being greeted with hot chocolate or cucumber soup when coming back from excursions. All around a wonderful trip! Read Less

We chose this cruise as we had never been to Russia. The ship was amazing. So much entertainment in so many parts of the ship. Definitely the best entertainment that we have had in all our cruises. The cruise staff weren’t great but their cruise director, Francisco was outstanding. The food on board was excellent, better than we expected. The ports that we visited were worth seeing. Although the ship is geared to families with children with all the Amenities that they have for them it didn’t impede on the wonderful nine days that we had on the Getaway. We went to the Cirque night. Well worth it. The dualling piano show was very good as were all the shows. We really liked Sids Bar and it’s outside bar. Never seen bars and restaurants on the port and starboard sides of a ship before. Fantastic idea. Well done Norwegian Getaway. Read Less

This was our first cruise. Brought my mom along. 3 in an oceanview stateroom was plenty roomy. Made sure to pack efficiently and brought hanging shelves for mine and hubby's clothes. Everyone on board the ship was so amazingly friendly! Always with a smile, always offering to help you out, etc. The only "complaint" would be that the buffet served the same food pretty much every day. Just wish there was a little bit more of a variety. The meals in the main dining rooms were great and the service was wonderful. Mom didn't care for something she ordered so they promptly got her a new meal. Another time we had ordered dessert, but I needed to get my mom back to the cabin quickly, so they packed it up and sent it back with my husband for us. Extra special touches!!! We truly loved it! So much so that I'm booking next year's cruise already! You've got loyal customers, Norwegian! Read Less

We are an english family with kids of 6 and 15, we loved this ship, we didnt want the holiday to end, my kids had the holiday of a lifetime, which is the reason i wanted to go, mostly for them. Ok it can get a bit noisy around the pool, but this boat is geared up for families, the kids were entertained so much, and my and my wife found time to relax, food fantastic, everywhere, we never went to specialty restaurants, just couldnt see the point, Manhattan and taste were superb, rooms brilliant, i thought all the shows were good, little tip, don’t bother with the magic show, it was really bad. Gym, awesome, we did a lot of the classes too Staff, all really good I would say 40% of us were brits, 40% Americans and the rest a mix of Europe and middle east So for anyone thats been reading the bad reviews, relax, my 3rd cruise all with different ships and i felt this one was great, i would go back Read Less

Had a great time at the Norwegian Escape . Everything went well and smoothly. The service, the staff, the restaurants, the food and the entertainment was all over the top. A lot of activities to do. There are plenty of dining options to choose from; even the complimentary restaurants are great with a variety of delicious food. The staff always welcoming and willing to accommodate your needs. Despite the number of alternative venues on Escape, the Garden Cafe which is the buffet, can be quite crowded during peak breakfast and lunch hours. Nevertheless the variety of food was always good. We didn’t take any excursions but we did visit Horseshoe Bay which is a must, the beach is absolutely beautiful and traveling to and from was very easy , safe and cheap, only $14 round trip. Overall my husband and I had a great time and a positive experience. I highly recommend cruising with Norwegian. Read Less

I chose this cruise because I wanted something fun yet relaxing. I brought my sister and our husbands to join in this well needed vacation. It was our first time on a cruise, flying and leaving the country. The crew was outstanding. The crew helped with getting food substitution due to food preference and made sure corrections were made with meal orders. I had to tip my hat to how much they do with a smile on their face. I wanted something more adult and less kids, this was it. The on-board activities were awesome. Their was never a dull moment. I wish I had a chance to do more but time flew by so fast. If the sky ship was great, I could only imagine the other ships. The only thing I wish the ship had is more smoking sections. Deck 11 was the only place I knew that had a smoking section. It just became overcrowded at times. Overall, it was amazing! Thank you all for one of the greatest time of my life!!! Read Less
