To have a cultural experience in Cuba We were there in the dark. Skipped one Island, too windy. Not other ships were there. Should have had a full day and 1/2 of another. We had a dock time of AM, We got there in pm. So dark you could not see anything. On the tour, they told us to take pictures in the total dark. It was a day schedule, that did not leave until dark The three-hour tour HAHA The captain appeared once. No one was happy. Over 6,000 dollars lost to float around in the ocean. Asked for a refund. They said 25% off next cruise. It was a total loss. Should have been a birthday and anniversary celebration. Food tolerable Entertainment on ship excellent. The ship had the beds pushed up against the wall with light coming out over your head? The food service was good, not great The cleanliness was good. Except once there was broken glass on the carpet, I asked three people to clean. Ignored. The entertainment was great. Very creative. Wasted days and money. Skipped Island one Visited Island two ( for a tour) Tour was good to the zoo Island three Cuba paid big bucks for Visa and visited the island for 3 hours out of two possible days. Read Less

The only time I really saw any member of the ship that worked there smile we when we were getting off the ship to go back through customs at the end of the trip. The Ultimate Beverage Package is a joke. It does not include everything and anything. Every other cruise line does, not this one. Even the generic coffee cafe that was terrible was not included. What is free is only the well alcohol they deem well and what they have priced themselves as $15 or under. Anything they have priced over that or is espresso is not included and you have to pay. I only saw my room steward three times the entire 7 day cruise. Everything is extra. The ports we stopped at only had what the ship had onboard. They were not concerned with customer service and made sure we all knew it. Waiting at one of the pool bars for a drink, a bartender started yelling that we all had to get in a line if we wanted to be served because she was tired of having to go around the bar to figure out what we all wanted and we were bothering her. If we didn't get in line, we wouldn't be served. None if the bartenders made eye contact or acknowledged you until they were ready. Only two bartenders on the entire ship were worth anything but by day three, everyone figured out who they were and waiting to get drinks was to long. The other bartenders admitted they weren't experience and complained about having to stand like they were and it hurt their backs. The food on the entire ship, including restaurants, could be compared to Golden Corral quality. I lost weight instead of gaining, which I guess could be considered a positive, but not when you pay as much as we did expecting to have the time off our life and really ended up just waiting for it to be over and back home by day three on the ship. I will NEVER do another Norwegian cruise line ever in my life. Do Royal or even Carnival before you even think or try to consider Norwegian. Their customer service on and off the ship was terrible and the service and care you get while on the cruise could be compared to the crappy kiosks inside of a low rate mall or even at a Long John Silvers. Don't do it. Read Less

Do not cruise this company. The second cruise with them I had taken. My toilet overflowed from day one repeatedly and they did not change our room. My personal belongings being ruined and they did not replace. We were forced to sleep in a sewer smelling room for 8 days. They said they would refund us at the end of the cruise but instead they have us a 100 dollar credit and said that was enough compensation. The food was horrific, it was worse then airplane food, so much of it was unedible, we couldn’t bare to eat it most of the time. The ship was so filthy and so packed full of people. Bathrooms were disgusting, pool was nasty and jacuzzis unsanitary, as well as all of them being cold. I can not believe they did not refund anything after this experience. Do not waste your money, try another cruise line. Read Less

When I did my research, Norwegian Getaway seemed to meet our expectations: relaxed atmosphere, fun activities for kids. What a disappointment it turned out to be. Most of its service staff wore a sad face. They seemed to be busy and self absorbed. All they cared was to have their job done according to their time table. We were once all chased out of our room because the housekeeping guy wanted to clean our room. For the most part of our trip, for some peculiar reasons, he seemed to be determined to show up and clean our room right after we came back from onshore excursions, while the room had been empty all morning. As for kids activities, we were very excited about their "splash academy", which was supposed to provide lots of fun activities for kids. Turned out they only organized no more than 5 activities through out the entire 7 day trip. We purchased their wifi package and was only able to get connection on the first day. There was no connection for the rest of the trip. My daughter was so bored she finally picked up a book we packed for her and finished it. I will have to give Norwegian cruise line credit for this. They served same thing for breakfast everyday. Food was tasteless in general. We have just spent 7 days on a boring ship surrounded by an unhappy crew. So sad. Read Less

Specialty dining: considering the food we had in Manhattan during the cruise we found it to be far and above the best restaurant on the ship. We found nothing special at all about the specialty restaurants. Mostly the food was bland (Cagneys) or in some cases inedible (Le Bistro - duck) and what we did like (La Cucina) could be found in Manhattan anyway (ravioli and gnocchi were exactly the same!) Ports: you have to be kidding!!!! Every single port you are stopping at the most ancient, unkempt, and in some cases downright dangerous ports I’ve ever seen. Add on the fact that you have to walk 1 1/2 miles to get to ANYTHING. loved that we didn’t get to go to Grand Cayman at all because they canceled the tenders because seas were too “rough”. Funny that the Royal Caribbean ship that pulled in behind us was able to tender with NO ISSUES. this was immediately following the stop at Costa Maya where we couldn’t get away from the entire port smelling of sewage. But the icing on the cake was Jamaica where we pulled up to Reynolds’s Pier which was essentially nothing more than a grain elevator for barges. It was filthy, had locals hovering around and above the disgusting walkway cat calling the girls and making lewd gestures for all passengers. We didn’t get off the boat because none of us felt safe doing so. Cleanliness/passenger safety: obviously there was a huge issue on our sailing with some sort of pathogen because we lost our ability to have salt, pepper, ketchup and mustard halfway through, our menus were turned into paper print-outs and washy-washy became urgent instead of a suggestion. Add to that the hallway fogging, and post-cruise hazmat suited spray-down and yes I’m sure we’re all going to show up home with some terrible malady. Not one cruise person explained what was going on. Not one. Just made things very inconvenient with zero explanation. Communication with this type of thing makes all the difference. Had the ship been aware of whatever the problem was maybe everyone would be more aware and careful and if they did come down with something immediately after be able to tell their dr what was going on. But no, better to leave everyone in the dark. Stateroom: room was nice, shower and bathroom were nice, room steward was excellent. Room was a spa mini-suite and while nice was not even close to worth the money for the very little square footage. Staff: we found the waiters/waitresses and bartenders excellent. Guest services also very good. Venues: terrible. Everything is 1000 decibels in a teeny tiny room. Why? No subtle music. Everything blaring. Completely unnecessary. Freestyle: no way. There is nothing freestyle about this cruising. You have to reserve everything and even with reservations to shows you have to show up an hour early so you can be sure to get in. We spent more time waiting in lines than we did enjoying shows so eventually we just stopped even trying. Ship: we have cruised the western Caribbean several times (at least 5) and never, EVER suffered through as much movement as we did on this ship and that includes one sailing where we came through a storm with 12 foot seas and heavy winds! This boat was constantly rocking and bouncing so if it has any stabilizers you should call the ship builder and ask for your money back. They DONT WORK AT ALL. One of our family spent his entire cruise in his stateroom because he couldn’t deal with the motion. After 12 other cruises this is the only one where I had to leave dinner twice because of motion sickness. It was awful. Selling, selling, selling: most ridiculous cruise I’ve ever been on for selling and ridiculous charges. Unlimited drink package. A joke. No bottled water? No coffee? What exactly does unlimited MEAN to you??? Every other line I’ve been on those are included. We’re at port, happy embarkation, charged for every drink (tax) - has NEVER occurred on any other cruise. Coming home, we’ll were close to shore so charging you again. Soda, sure for $4 a piece and some tax. Again, what is the drink package for??? Drinks at the bar, if it’s not on the menu don’t bother asking, can’t be done. Can only get this drink at that bar etc etc etc. everywhere you turn it’s charge for this, charge for that. You can’t take two steps without someone shoving something in your face that you need to buy. You can’t get away from it. Ever. Watch a movie, if you don’t run fast enough another sales pitch shoved down your throat. Summary: never again. Ever. We cruise every year usually more than once. My husband and I and our extended family who were all on this cruise agreed, never again. We all said the same, I’ve never hated a cruise before, until now. We couldn’t wait to get home which is the exact opposite of every other cruise we’ve been on where we are heartbroken when it’s over. Definitely know it won’t be NCL again for any of us. Read Less

I had a great cruise on Epic in 2015 I gave the trip 5 stars in my review. Things have gone way downhill since then. The Entertainment on the ship was pretty good and a good variety of activities were offered. Krystal the solo host was very nice and helpful. The Thermal spa was also nice and I made a daily visit to the sauna and Hydrotherapy pool. I found it clean the drinking water was always filled and there were lots of clean towels and robes always availible, I never had trouble finding a heated stone lounger to relax on. My room Stewart Ahmed was also very good and kept my room clean all the time. The big issue with this boat was service in the Taste dining room Dinner usually took about 3 hours with most of the time spent staring at empty dishes. I could not get a refill of water without flagging down a server. One evening I had to find a water pitcher at a server station and refill all the water at my table. Usually half the table left before desert because they did not want to waste the entire evening waiting for cold mediocre food. I spoke to the matre'd twice and nothing ever got better. When I went there for breakfast once a man at my table asked for syrup for his Waffles or pancakes and the server said no you can't have syrup there was some sauce there and use that. The other time I went to breakfast there I asked for butter for my toast she said she would get it then disappeared not to be seen again that morning. My biggest complaint is that when the issues were brought up nothing was done to fix them. I did not go to the MDRs for the last 5 days of the cruise. I ate at the sub golden corral quality buffet or at O sheehans which actually had pretty good food and service. The entertainers did a good job I liked the singer Tetiana who let me get up on stage with her. Burn the Floor was awesome even seeing my 3rd version of it. The ship overall is too crowded I missed several shows because dinner took all evening and the theater is too small for the ship and was full by the time I escaped from the dining room. A lot of people did a really good job making guests happy on the cruise. But a few uncaring horrible Servers in Taste made all their work go to waste since the main thing everyone will remember is how bad the service and food was at Taste. Read Less

We have been using NCL for almost a decade, even had our wedding on Breakaway in 2015, but Escape is same class ship tuned down on interior design. Ship is simple design with no personally, practical floating hotel. We stayed in balcony room with a baby and toddler and it was OK, steward was OK, always busy and barely have time to anyone to talk. Management of the ship was an amazing crew, and anyone under was complete mess. Waiters in restaurants don't know what they doing and would screw up any simple order. Food in restaurants was OK, but buffet food is awful, minimum choices, a lot of cheap meat, no seafood or even NCL signature Norwegian lox. Specialties restaurant's food was amazing, and pricey and will make your wallet cry! In 14 days cruise we had only 2 free show After Midnight, Brat Pack, second one did not made any sense. Choir of Man show, is paid show with prefix dinner setting, was OK. We had one stop cancel due to 2 heliocopter lifts from the ship first two days with no explanation, and remaining stops were simple beach destinations. We end up spending more time on the ship due to cancelled stop, and there is nothing to do there. Kids sevice is ok for 3+ and for baby you have to pay $20 for 1 hour 50 min selected slot time. Overall experience of this cruise, is that NCL is cutting their cost by taking quality out of scope in any possible way they can. NCL becoming low class, no frills cruise line. Based off our last 14 day cruise, we are not coming back with NCL to cruise and will be looking for more classy company to cruise with. Read Less

Food was not good at all. All meet was so over cooked and chewy. Staff was so inattentive. Wasted money. Sushi was great! No surf and turf at all. It was like pulling teeth to just have some shrimp. Drinks were good. But drink package is ridiculously expensive. The ports made our trip enjoyable. Although everyone port except harvest key was only shopping unless you take a 30 min cab. This cruise was recommended to us. We have been saving and preparing for this trip for over a year. This was my wife's birthday week. The checking in and boarding process was long and hot. Designated arrival times do not even matter. Every restaurant/ buffet/ cafe that was included was mediocre at best. If you wanted to see shrimp, and lobster, and other expected cruise ship foods, you will have to get it from the ocean on this cruise. Outside of the cabin Stewart, Casino staff, and some wait staff, the service was terrible. The ship layout has the main buffet dining at the top of the ship, so prepare to walk stairs a lot, because elevators are not efficient unless you go to breakfast at 6AM. My wife went to the spa to have her hair styled for dinner, and the person who did her hair made some insensitive comments about her hair and face that brought my wife to tears when she got back to the cabin. Excursions are chaotic and stressful with a lot of waiting. Recommend going onshore by yourself and doing the same activities at your pace. Felt like a retirement community by 11PM. That's when the bars on the ship start to close up, except Bliss, which smelled like urine, H2O, and the casino. Prepare to go to bed early on this boat. We disembarked with our luggage, and got off very quickly. Read Less

From the moment we stepped on the ship and saw the filthy windows everywhere that we looked I was concerned about the EPIC. Last year we took a cruise on the ESCAPE and had such a wonderful experience that we immediately put money down on another cruise with Cruise next. This year we didn't. The Epic was a huge disappointment. Unlike The Escape, not once were any of the windows/balconies cleaned while we were in port. Our room was filthy and the bathtub was filled with mold. The room steward never refilled anything like sugar, shampoo, lotion, soap etc. The boat was so noisy and shuddered continuously. So much so that the glass doors on the tub and the toilet rattled all night, every night. The first time I went into the room and used the toilet, there was a piece of glass and I cut my foot open...not a great start!! The television had so little options with channels and we had to keep watching the same 10 minutes of a crappy cartoon in between shows. We never knew that the first port in the Bahamas was a private NCL island and that we had to get a tender, communication was terrible!! Whereas Harvest Caye was beautiful last year, Great Stirrup Caye is in need of a major facelift. The port of call in Jamaica at Ocho Rios should just stop. The beaches are so rocky getting into the water that I was almost over my head in the ocean before I finally felt sand. It was very painful. After speaking to many other guests that went to other excursions on the island they all had the same experiences. During the trip, we spoke to a lot of other people and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM HAD THE SAME COMPLAINTS! Almost every one of them said that they would never use NCL again, as of right now we aren't sure if we ever will either. If it wasn't for the wonderful experience that we had on the Escape we definitely wouldn't. We saw discrimination against a gay couple by the assistants to the cruise director that made us sick! The glow party was ruined for practically everyone because little kids were allowed to run around and knock over drinks and constantly bump into adults trying to dance and have fun, it wasn't the place for kids. It was brought to the attention to the cruise director by multiple people and he couldn't have cared less. Because of all of this and other reasons I rated this cruise poor...only because it was the lowest option available. Read Less

Our family was aboard the ILL-FATED Norwegian JADE cruise, which departed Miami on November 16, 2018. We departed Miami on Friday afternoon, and on Sunday, November the cruise was abruptly terminated in Puerto Rico (our first port of call) due to "mechanical issues." Several crew members told us that the ship's propellers became entangled in FISHING NETS. At around 11:00 pm on Sunday an announcement was made over the ship's P.A. system. The announcement was short and sweet. The ship encountered mechanical problems, the cruise was terminated, and they would open up the wi-fi so passengers could get online to arrange flights home from San Juan. From Sunday night to Monday, the situation became a total fiasco. There appeared to be no one in charge, no one had any useful information, and passengers were left to figure things out on their own. We managed to book our own flights home, but we (along with all other passengers) were then told that no one could help us get our bags off the ship. This made it nearly impossible for many families and elderly people to disembark. Finally, I paid a crew member $60 to help get my bags on a luggage cart and help us disembark via the freight elevator. It has now been THREE WEEKS since the cruise tanked, and still NO WORD FROM NCL. No apology, no email, and NO CREDIT VOUCHER TOWARDS A FUTURE CRUISE, which was promised in writing while still on the ship. I called Norwegian, and they instructed me to go online and fill out a "case" request, and that someone would get back to me within 15 days. Really? That's the best they can do? After spending over $10,000 for a Suite on a 10-night cruise, you would think NCL would be on top of it....but that has not been the case. We did finally receive a refund (processed to our credit card), but nothing else. After something like this occurs, putting thousands of people in a terrible situation, NCL should have immediately had their Customer Service reps email apology letters to everyone on board, and get the refunds and future credit issues sorted out ASAP. We all understand that mechanical issues, fishing nets, and other unexpected events can happen.....BUT, it is how you deal with these issues that makes all the difference. In this case, bad news turned into total chaos on the ship with no one knowing what to do, followed by thousands of Jade guests camping out in the San Juan airport trying to get home. If you are considering a cruise because YOU DON'T LIKE TO FLY, think again. You may end up with no option but flying home if something goes wrong. Sadly, NCL has really dropped the ball. Zero follow up or communication, and a big ZERO from us in terms of customer service and the way this company operates. Read Less

We choose it cause we were goin on different places however our boat had a mechanical issue and we were stuck in PR. we were supposed to leave on the 9:45 to leave at 12:45 but our flight had been delay. Also the service is so bad with kids. There were many occasions where my teenage kids went to dine by themselves and didn’t get water or food until an HOUR later. Literally want service is this. I really disliked this cruise and i feel like it’s for older people then it is for the young kids and adults. The workers care more about the old ppl rather than the young. And I’m not ok with that. So glad I’m going home. I couldn’t with the terrible service we got and the disrespect my kids also got from the services. We also had to wait over 3 hours for our plan so we can leave. It’s so annoying. It i do encourage to put ur kids in the clubs. They will get treated well and make friends. Read Less

This is my 15th cruise, spread over 5 cruise lines. My third NCL and most likely my last NCL. Where to start.... It’s no secret that NCL nickels and dimes you to no end, however they have reached new lows. I understand that it’s a business that needs to make a profit but NCL needs to learn that they must provide a service, and in this business a good service to compete. Most people have the beverage package, which NCL charges a 20% gratuity. Well, trying to find someone to serve you on this ship is near impossible and when you do, they’re expecting cash tips from you. On Other cruise lines I have actually been annoyed at how many servers asked me if I needed anything to drink, well I miss that service ! I don’t really blame the workers as most of them are working as hard as they can, it’s just that bars and restaurants are severely understaffed. Dinner in the complimentary dining rooms is not very impressive food and not very impressive service. So, you pay a fee and go to the a la carte restaurant. Well, the food is much better however, the service is ridiculously slow. Waiters are literally running trying to cover their tables and often forget you. And then when they see you’re unhappy ( in my case waiting an hour for my medium cooked steak that finally arrived near raw) they become nervous that perhaps you will complain to their supervisors.... just making things worse. Pools ( when actually open) are dirty .... one example is my wife and I sat on the sun deck and people beside us spilled their drink and some food.... well that food stayed there for 2 days before being cleaned up..... never saw that on other cruises. Garbage and recycling bins around the bar area drip all over the deck being over filled and never emptied with half finished drinks etc. I can go on and on, but the fact is, it will take a super cheap price to get me to even consider doing another NCL again.... I work too hard for my money and knowing how other cruise lines take care of their customers for the same money.... it’s no contest. Read Less

Let's just start off by saying that the customer service was awful. No one offered to assist in any way for anything, snapped my sail pass card out of my hand several times, never greeted you in passing, and the lines to even get a drink at any of the bars was too long to even bother - no waiters going around either. The food.. awful. Cafeteria food unless you go to the Specialty Dining - which is an extra cost. We did not have the drink package but each time we purchased a drink it was wrong on our account - as in, if it was a 'drink of the day' it should have been $8.95 and it would show up on the account as $14.71. I spent a lot of time at the guest service desk each day to rectify my account - great way to relax. Activities... if you don't play BINGO or Gamble, then just don't even bother. I never thought a cruise could be so disappointing - I felt nickeled and dimed the entire time. Just DON'T.. Norwegian is terrible. Read Less

First, I am not loyal to any cruise line. I just like to try different ship especially the newer one. This is my first with Norwegian. I have heard from friends who has been on this ship that were pretty negative. I refuse to believe them. There is no Perfect cruise. Cruise cannot cater to everyone. There will be good and bad experience on all cruise. But Good should Triumph over Bad. Embarkation - was a nightmare. Terminal was packed as the returning cruise arrived very late. At 11 am, passenger were still disembarking. Many people were lined up for check in. All of a sudden they shut down check in without saying a words. There were no announcement on what was going on, until some passenger started asking question. Since then there were frequent announcement. Due to space and fire hazard, the terminal cannot accommodate more passenger and had some type of coast guard drill. They kept suggesting that passenger should leave the terminal and come back in at 2:30 pm. Many passenger eventually left the terminal. I won't explain in detail since the other reviewer KaKelley was right on. The food was terrible. Not much variety and very dry compare to other cruises line which has many variety. One example: everyday they have one type of baked chicken. It looks similar except they change the name. There were about 3 or 4 days where we had same BBQ chicken. I am sure the chef could come up with a different variety. Music was very loud in the dining room and service is very slow. This was the first of all our cruise where we actually miss dinning room dinner and ate at buffet instead. Entertainment was below par. Majority of the cruise staff here are Filipino. I have nothing against them. They are very good people. Cruise director and his staff is all Filipino. Some of them really need some more coaching. Since they play an important part in entertaining all passenger. Also this was the only cruise where they have some show that have extra charges. Bermuda was very nice. Very easy getting off and on the ship. Internet package is very expensive Norwegian 250 minutes (very slow speed) cost $125. Royal Caribbean 1 day package is about $30 Unlimited Alcohol package on Norwegian is about USD$100 while Royal Caribbean is around USD $70 with more discount promotion. To summarized, our family did not enjoy the cruise. In fact we will be cancelling our next year booking with NCL and would look for other cruise line. It is unfortunate that we fell this way since this was our worst cruise. I hope NCL would seriously look at their food variety and improve on quality. This was also our first cruise where we did not give additional tips. Usually we gave additional tips to some waiter or room attendant. It seems like this NCL has a lot more extra charges than other cruise line and it gets confused on what is included. Please take my review with a grain of salt. I am only expressing my own personal experience. This review is not on behalf of other passenger. We have more fun cruising with Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Princess and Celebrity. We will not be cruising with NCL again. Read Less

When I made the reservation for my friend and I and our husbands, I mentioned to NCL agent that we are celebrating my 44 year anniversary. Big year right? Who can say that these days! The agent told me they will send us a cake with a card to celebrate our special occasion..We were left empty!! Our mattress was so uncomfortable that my husband and I received back pain. One week later, we are still experiencing pain..... We tried the food at different restaurants and everything we were served was very cold. Also, the menu was same every night. Overall quality of the food within the Buffet was unacceptable. The ship had over 2000 passengers and all of us could not be accommodated in the dining halls. There were not enough tables to sit and this left us all wandering around to find a table to sit. It was a very uncomfortable experience for all of us. All PA announcements were not clear and we could not understand the anything said. This is worrying in times of emergency. WIFI was part of my package at the time of reservation and I was not able to use it. I personally went to the front desk asking for help but no one knew how to do it. Let’s just say I’m a veteran. I’ve been on 20 cruises in my life and overall this was the worst experience I’ve had to date. Both my husband and I along with our friends were disappointed in taking Norwegian. I chose this cruise to celebrate an important anniversary and it did not meet any of our expectations. I will not recommend this to anyone especially those who want to celebrate an important occasion. Read Less

we cruise about 2 times a year with Carnival, tried NCL Bliss as it was a new ship and sailing out of Los Angeles to Mexico which made it very convenient. Boarded ship and prepared for great mexican riviera cruise (Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Cabo)..after 2 hours we were notified that due to a hurricane we were being diverted and going to San Francisco, San Diego, and Ensenada. They completely lied to everyone who could have cancelled the trip prior to leaving and sail another time however they failed to notify us. TERRIBLE shame on you NCL! The weather was cold and dreary..not exactly what anyone had clothes packed for and due to a travel agency annual convention we were shut out of many areas of the ship during the entire week for private functions including the pool deck on 2 occassions, the bewhouse multiple times, the social club, etc.. The ship is beautiful however our cabin hallway always smelled of diesel burning, not sure why. The ships vibe was very off and during the one day we finally had a little sun they decided to show a movie on the pool deck..no live music, no recorded music..terrible. Never saw any activities on the deck. Diverted us without notice then had no shore excursions planned. People tried to get off in San Fran because they lived there and were denied or it would cost terrible fines. HORRIBLE ANNIVERSARY! NCL offered us NOTHING for this, I understand the hurricane and being diverted but they knew well ahead of time and told us nothing! we could have rescheduled as NOBODY wants to be prepared for warm weather and end up in a cold city where you would pay zero to go as you live close to it anyway. Waste of money and no consolation from NCL. THey should have offered discounts or partial refunds but they did nothing for us at all. Complaining to corporate office..shame on you NCL for not being upfront and honest with your passengers! Read Less

have to let you know about my first and last experience with NCL. I have been on 7 cruises prior to this one (all Carnival). I wanted to try something different and I have to say, I am sorry I did. I feel like i was nickle and dimed to death on this cruise. The restaurant selection was bland at best unless you purchase a specialty dining package (which we did). 2 of the nights were outstanding (Maduro and Teppenyaki), La Cucina was OK but Cagney's was terrible. First, we had 8PM reservations and we were not seated until 840, then, when I ordered a rib-eye, our waiter advised against it (which I appreciated) except the porterhouse was equally dry and bland. Then, we had waits at EVERY other non dining plan place we tried (up to 1.5hrs)! 2 mornings we couldn't eat breakfast due to 1 side being closed and the other was so crowded we couldn't get near it. everywhere you go they want money (Jimmy Buffet, Shows, Ice Bar, etc). We NEVER once met our cabin steward, the bartenders for the most part had no personality and Saturday, we were outside the Sunset Bar (which was closed) and when they opened for a margarita tasting, we were told to be quiet by the bartender so they others could hear the presentation. Shows you had to make reservations for or wait in god awful lines to hope to get in. Bars mostly closed at 12AM and didn't open until 11 except for 1 or 2 and even then they didn't open at the times the sheets said. I paid $2400 for the cruise, plus gratuities, plus excursions, flights, etc and you still charged us for transportation to the airport. This was the worst of price gouging ever. When on a Carnival, I pay 1 price for everything on the boat except 1 restaurant and gratuities. There is ALWAYS something going on. The staff is always going out of their way to say hi. I knew my cabin steward by name the first day. I regret ever taking a NCL. Read Less

We are NCL Platium members, having sailed on many NCL ships. We booked the Bliss as its a new ship. First 4500 passangers is too big especially for the ship's resources. The crew was unahppy and unfriendly and it showed it everywhere (there were 4 staff exceptions only - Cruise Director, Joseph in Smokehouse and 2 Cruisenext staff)). Managers were always frowning and disapproving. The restaurants were booked before the cruise and we had to wait to get in and then it was 5:15 or 8:15. I will commend the La Bistro and Teppenyacci as the quality I expect on an NCL ship. The rest was mediocre. The ship had 1 pool for 4500 guests. Smaller ships have 2 pools -downsized for a bigger ship - why? There other NCL ships and a pool side grill - this ship has taken that out and replaced with with Margarettaville for $ 14.95 for a burger that is free in the buffet Prohibition was a fun show. Jersey Boys which was closing after this cruise had medicore voices at best. Havana was as amateur as I have ever seen except 1 bearded dancer and the 2 female singer leaders who were really good. This ship was over crowded everywhere. The staff pushed the buffet for meals as the other restaurants were overwhelmed. Do yourself a favor and look for a smaller ship than this ship which was big enough to fail. Read Less

We never stopped at the private island so many people onboard paid to visit, the ship was lackluster than any cruise line i have been on. The food was horrible and the service was ok. Pre paid drinks and specialty dining caught my eye so i sold hook line and sinker. This was my 1st time on norwegian thinking i was going to upgrade my cruising experience but was i disappointed. The cabin was ok i had a port view. The ship itself didnt have a lot of activities on the ship to enjoy. There was only 1 comedy show and it was horrible. The lounge that was supposed to have a party smelled like feet. if you're looking for a nice mid range cruise.. This is not the one. we called this ship the s.s. Minnow.. The boat is old and very outdated. we booked a top deck ocean view room. Thinking it would be nice. It was so tiny we didn't even have room to unpack. i felt sorry for the room attendant.there wasn't any room to clean.although he did a good job for what he had to work with. The balcony would of been nice..but they were scraping and repainting the ship two days we were docked. Paint chips flying everywhere. Would not cruise on the norwegian sky ever again. Read Less

The worst experience I ever had. They canceled three countries of 5 included in the itinerary, bad service, when we were anchored for 3 days in Denmark waiting for the bad weather to stop, we did not have good entertainment, I was bored, couldn't have my diet without salt as I asked at the reservation moment because they were not prepared for it, the Rock shows were terrible as well, too much rock for seniors persons (60%) a pested, problems with the charges, with the shore excursions, with the door key three times wrong, problems with my cabin, in the Service Desk, in the Shore Excursions Desk, in the Reservations Desk, the Credit on Board Desk, an horror everything. Long line in the service and shore excursions Desks because too many complaints. I had problems with my suitcase, arrived at 11.00 PM at my cabin because I went for it. Read Less

Other NCL ships are run by staff that is in the hospitality business. The Getaway is run by administrators and supervisors. There is no consideration or attempt at being gracious hosts. There is absolutely nothing offered to a Platinum member other than the "standards" left in the cabin upon arrival. The Latitudes party was for every single level all mashed together outside in the heat. No receiving line. Short introduction of officers and then they could not get away fast enough. Not a party. Not even a real reception. The food was the worst ever and the buffet had countless problems. Big language/understanding problems with the staff. Staff person making Greek salads tried to tell me that there was no cheese on a Greek Salad. The word feta was impossible to communicate. Cobb salad the next day I just looked and shook my head. No blue cheese (cheddar instead!) no bacon and no avocado. I have owned two hot tubs. My cruise was to be a spa retreat. I had to point out two separate days that the water in the spa pool was not treated properly. Any sort of thermal pool should not have excess foam. That is a sign that water is not treated properly. I lost three days of spa relaxation until they got the water clean. Any point/suggestion made to an officer was merely taken in. On two occasions there was personnel stationed outside the dining room trying to move people up to the buffet rather than enjoy the dining room. There is smoking in more places than I have ever seen on a ship. The Sunset bar is ruined by smoking directly next to the seats on the bar. In the very middle of the pool deck there are a few glass walls and smoking is allowed right there. Up in Spice H20 the bar side is given to smokers. All this on top of the stink in the casino. I will never sail on this ship again and am giving serious consideration to leaving NCL. Read Less

I live in georgia and we spent a few days in new york before boarding the ship. our destination was bermuda. we were told the thursday before we left that due to weather the itinerary was changed to florida and the bahamas. we did not make it to the bahamas instead we circled bermuda and was at sea for days. they did not extend the hours of the restaurants. parties ended @ 12:30; margaritaville closed @ 5:00 pm. no other shows were added. so basically we were held capture on the ship. i am not happy that i paid $3000 to go to florida and sit in the middle of the ocean. Quest services could not answer any questions and we were not given the option of postponing our trip. we were told that if we cancel we will lose our money. It was 11 people in my group and we all purchased the ultimate beverage package but once on the ship we were told that it did not include every beverage. THE SHIP HAD SOME STABILIZING ISSUES WHICH CAUSED MEMBERS OF MY GROUP AS WELL AS MYSELF TO BECOME ILL ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION I am very disappointed that they have chosen to do nothing about the complaints and just decided to keep our money and not give us a thing to make up for this horrible week. Also, from what i know hurricanes travel so if we could go around bermuda without any issues why couldn't we go to bermuda. Read Less

1. when NCL Bliss came to Seattle, we were expecting Epic kind of service or amenities. But the Bliss was way worse than what we were expected. we paid $9000 for 4 of us in same room, the room doesn't have enough closet space or drawers for our close, have to 2 of us has to use our luggage, placing at the middle of the room. 2. can you imagine the Specialty Restaurant served the exact same dish as regular Main Dining Room? ( in this case is La Bistro & Manhattan), it's a rip off. we were on Heaven Category so we got to dine at Heaven Restaurant but the quality was not as good as before, NCL used to serve special meals for each destination like Mediterranean Cruise with Seafood, Alaska Cruise with King crab leg, but with the Bliss none of those (even with Pearl, they don't serve it any more) and the selections are getting scares ..... 3. the dining room hours are so limited you have to rush yourself......... otherwise you end up eating in your tiny room....... the Concierge wasn't helpful unless you pile up the green notes upfront....... very realistic. I do give extra tips for those who worked behind the scene, wait staffs or housekeeper daily...... they are hard workers and were almost at the point being abused by NCL the Only reason I chose NCL is because of my MOM, who is wheelchair-bound, I like the free style..... but the Bliss isn't made for , or accommodated for Handicapped persons. Showroom alone is not made for one...... the wheelchair area were not made for watching the show unless you are really tall, my Mon can sit there but can only watch the wall in front of her..... the rest of the handicapped seats are those 2 rows down the stairs and only have one opening out........ not recommended..... One more thing, you have to check your bill diligently or NCL tend to over charge you unless you complaine. Read Less

I'm poor, so cruising isn't something I get to do, needless to say I was very excited about this early birthday trip to what would likely be my only opportunity to see Bermuda. Bermuda was canceled, while that was a real bummer I still wanted to make lemonade of lemons but unfortunately Norwegian failed to deliver in so many ways. We went to a port in Florida where we got a lovely view of a parking lot, there wasn't enough time there to do anything off the boat. I've been to FL a lot and could've planned a week long vacay there for a tiny fraction of what we paid for this cruise and had much more fun doing it. We went to Norwegian's island Great Stirrup Cay, while it was nice the tender there was extremely crowded, we had to use stairs to get there and my bad knee/hip was feeling that hardcore, the beach was packed, and there was nothing to do there. The entertainment on the ship had to be reserved and once the Bahamas was canceled every last thing filled up. The boat was way too packed to do anything without the ports of call to thin out the herd. As for dining every place was so full we never got to try anything outside of the buffet. The drinks were good but it turns out the beverage package does not include every drink and we were charged extra fees when we got drinks, this wasn't disclosed to us up front. The wifi was absolutely terrible, a two minute task would take ten minutes and trying to logout was incredibly frustrating when it's costing $1/minute. We went to guest services about the wifi issues, they sent us to the internet manager who sent us back to guest services who told us once again it wasn't their problem. We didn't want to keep bouncing back and forth as the lines were very long with unhappy customers on this cruise. We were charged $29/day for room cleaning and our room was only cleaned twice, not only because we know how to clean up after ourselves but the insane amount of rocking kept us pretty seasick, we weren't able to leave the room a whole lot, and even if we could everything was booked solid, there wasn't much to do. The room itself was nice (balcony room) but the bed was solid as a rock and that divide in the middle from the beds being pushed together was definitely felt. The TV would occasionally just go out, it didn't time out, it flickered and would cut out, and sometimes have trouble coming back on. The remote only worked sometimes. The speakers weren't very clear as it was difficult to understand anything the captain or cruise director said. The art auctions are fun but wow is Park West ever a scam, do yourself a favor and look into them. It's deplorable that Norwegian allows such fraudulent activity on their ships. As long as the checks clear I guess it doesn't matter. While I am thankful they wanted to steer us away from the storm (which is as much a benefit to them as it is to us) they knew up front what was ahead and denied any form of cancellation refund, and they offered no compensation afterwards, no partial refunds, no future cruise discounts to show they're not so shady afterall, nothing. Even if we were able to take the intended itinerary a lot of things on this ship and about Norwegian was an absolute failure. Read Less
