I got off the Norwegian Sun today after a 4 day cruise to the Bahamas with my mom. Are you ready for this tale? After boarding on the first day, nothing was open and the rooms weren't ready. When we went to the room, we were given a single bed even though we booked a double beds. We feared my mother's luggage was lost, since it was several hours without it at the room. I spoke with another guest who said that his luggage was put on the wrong ship. We tried to call our room attendant "Brianna", but the number was a busy signal. We called Guest Services, but the number was also busy. The luggage finally arrived around 9 PM while we were eating what tasted like frozen food or bad airplane food in the main dining hall. We then met our real room attendant who explained that the number didn't work because "she went home today on vacation." Not sure why they couldn't replace the card with the correct attendant's name and number? Shortly after eating/drinking on the ship, we would get horrible cramps. We did not know the cause until after looking up the symptoms on the internet today (the cruise charged $35 per device each day for WiFi) that we had contracted THE NOROVIRUS! Why did we contract the Norovirus? "Washy Washy" was not everywhere on the ship and we watched the workers clean the tables without gloves and without disinfectant. The ship was dirty and we saw crumbs on the floor and on the tables everywhere. The tables were cleaned with wet rags and food everywhere was not bussed. So much so, that seagulls would have feasts on the deck outside on the questionable food no one seemed to enjoy. Comfortable sleep did not happen because we didn't have working AC the entire trip. We called maintenance the first night to fix the AC, but there still was no cold air circulating in our room. We would feel cold air while passing other guests' rooms and in other parts of the ship. The repair man explained that the coldest our room was allowed to get is 73 degrees and the ship utilizes "chilled recycled ocean water." However, 73 degrees would have been tolerable unlike the 80 degree room that we had. We were sweating laying on top of the covers every night tossing and turning. Everytime we reached out to Guest Services, a person who could not understand English very well would get confused and tell us everything was fine. To make matters worse, our toliet would not flush and the sink constantly made a loud gurgling sound. The toliet was fixed a total of 4 times and the AC was "fixed" about the same amount if not more. The bathroom smelled of rank sewage, so we had to constantly spray hair spray in there to not gag every time we had to enter. The shower was also repaired twice, since only scalding hot water came out. We spoke with 4 other guests that claimed their room FLOODED! The toliet and shower eventually worked on the last day of the trip, but the AC never worked. We are leaving the trip completely exausted (and sick). The entertainment on the ship was beyond cheesy and usually involved the ship begging for more money. The ship's shops were desperate money grabs, much like the $5.50 bottle of Aquafina placed in our room to "tempt" us. The food was subpar and every meal oredered was taking a chance. During one dinner, I ordered French Onion soup because I thought how can you mess that up? Much to my suprise, that was bad too. The soup tasted like only beef stock and had no flavors of onion, salt, or bouillon. The ship also kept trying to pass off certain foods as gourmet. For example, one appetizer on the menu was "cream cheese and crab stuffed wonton with a sweet chilli sauce". Isn't that called, "crab rangoon"? We noticed a lot of interesting menu items that we believed to be recycled leftovers from other meals like adding bacon to sauerkraut. We picked snorkeling/beach day for our excursion in Freeport, Bahamas which came be to around $150. When we arrived to get on the bus for the excursion, we were informed that the snorkeling was canceled due to weather. The ship did not inform us earlier of this and instead loaded up a tour bus full of guests whom we suspect were charged the full amount for a 15 minute shuttle to the beach. Instead, we went back to the ship and asked for a refund. We then caught a taxi which only came to $14 for both of us. The White Party/Glow Party was held from 10:30 PM-12:00 AM the night before a port of call was 7 AM. The party took place by the pool deck and it was raining. The workers were squeegeeing the deck and the DJ was trying to get the crowd to come out from hiding from the rain. After the rain stopped, the crowd came out to dance and consisted mainly of small children. The DJ played EDM music for a bit, then switched to explicit rap much to the horror of the parents in attendance. They had a twerk contest on the stage and parents were taking their children to leave. A woman with a see through dress and a thong on got in the splits and began dancing like a stripper on the stage for everyone to see, kids and adults alike. There were other people on stage dancing that kept it clean, but she had to be pulled off stage because she was showing her buttcrack/vagina. There looked to be children watching as young as 5-12 years old. The DJ was blasting Cardi B songs and asked the crowd of kids to sing along to the explicitly laced lyrics. I left after that, since I had no interest in twerking around little kids. Small things such as crew members not knowing guests' names, no towel animals, and no drinks being served by the beach chairs were also a disappointment. We cruised with NCL in 2015 and had a fantastic time, so we suspect there must have been a restructuring within management. The cruise reaked of budget cuts and corporate greed. We suspect that the workers were paid very little and we were told that they rarely get to go home to their families in their home countries. Sorry if this was too much to read, but I did not want to spare any of the details. I posted this on NCL's Facebook page, but it was taken down by the moderators (suprise). Read Less

Have been on many cruises but first time with ncl. What a rip off. Not all the shows are free for a start. 2 standard shows we're free but you still had to book as theater tiny. Public places packed at peak times. Not enough staff and the ships design has not given that nice open attriam feeling that other ships have. Casino too expensive. Minimum bets etc. Didn't see our cabin boy for almost all the week just say 1 and 9. Food is quite good esp the buffet but it's a real fight. Too many people. Drinks god. A diet coke and a cocktail was 23 dollars. I drank water most of the week. Oh and you can't bring drink on board not even water cos they want to sell you it. Worst ship and company we have ever been with, and we won't be going back again Read Less

The boat was overcrowded and not enough staff to attend to everyone. Since gratuities were suppose to be paid all upfront they did not have to work hard to get people there food or drinks, I waited 20-30 min for drinks and at dinner took 2hrs. at least. But then once you are on the boat they hit you with a 15$per person per day charge for someone to make up your room. If you want decent food you have to go to the specialty restaurant and pay for it. The adult pool was so small and way overcrowded. They had another adult pool but it had limited spots and fee was 210 per person for the week. The Spa was a nice facility. So one would think that after you pay for an overpriced massage you can use the rest of the amenities there but No that's an extra fee too. So be wary when you think you have an all inclusive they are so many hidden fees. Also the shows sucked, Royal Caribbean is such a better cruise line. Read Less

The food was bad, the waiter was good but there seemed to be no excitement from the staff. The freestyle meals are cold and not friendly. The smoke on the ship from the casino was horrible. You could smell it 2 floors down in the dining area. The staff on the ship were not educated on events and where to go many times we asked. We have cruises many times and this was probably the most disappointing cruise we have ever been on. Our cabin was nice and we enjoyed having a balcony but when we tried to sit out there the people in cabin 8051 were smoking. We were not told this ship allowed smoking or we would not have scheduled a cruise in this ship. The staff when we got off the ship in customs were very rude to everyone getting off of the ship. We will probably not cruise with Norwegian again. Read Less

The quality of the crew, their attentiveness and professionalism was far lacking. It was apparent they did not care to be on the ship. From boarding to disboarding the overall attitude toward passengers made me wish I was not there. The quality of the food was horrendous, soups had no whole ingredients and were clearly powdered. I myself was sick the entire trip! The setup on ship was a detriment to anyone not there with a whole family as they corralled guests into areas such as Skyline for evening parties (an area much too small for all guests) and then closed the only place to get a drink when passengers engaged in fighting due to the cramped conditions. The adult only pools/ hot tubs were nearly never enforced! I never got to enjoy the pool/ hot tub areas due to an excess of children present at all times splashing and screaming. When I put forth the money to get a spa experience in hopes of some kind of relaxation I was shorted the whole service (tip to toe) including a collagen eye treatment I never received even after asking about completing the service. It was nearly impossible to find a quiet space or other singles on the ship. I spent more money on this cruise than my last and am utterly shocked by my experience with Norwegian as a whole. No kind of vacation I would choose for myself again. Read Less

My husband won a cruise from the casino. My husband play the tables and is very good at it. Our family call it his part time job, however he calls it fun. We cruise every other year on Royal Caribbean and when we received the cruise as a gift we took a chance. First we upgraded the room etc. which cost over $2500.00. I cant live in an interior room on any cruise line. We left from New york $300.00 pier parking arrived @ 10 am. The pier was packed because of other events which was an inconvenience because we were left to look for other parking garages. None the less we were excited to get away. The Dawn was filthy, unable to capture the views because the windows were dirty/cloudy etc. The toilets kept getting backed up. The casino had no air condition, can you imagine smoke and no air. The crew didn't provide any pleasantries. The crew didn't thank you, smile and the dining room staff including the specialty restaurants were RUDE. The entertainment I would give 1 star same group of people doing something. The ship doesn't have many activities, trivia hosted by people who barely spoke English. There's nothing to do on the ship, not a slide, hang glide, bumper car, Broadway show. They have 1 pool for over 20000 guest which is deceptive in depth, too deep. The pool claim to be 6ft well over, my husband is 6'3 water well over his head. I couldn't wait to get off of this ship. Their private island is awful nothing to do there except to look at Royal Caribbean Island which had a slide and plenty of activities. I was so disappointed when we took our shore excursion to Atlantis we started to cut our losses and stay at Atlantis and fly back to New york and get our car. The bed was slat with a dip in it, mattress need to be replaced. I had to keep calling to housekeeping to have someone change the sheets. Read Less

Everyone talks about how awesome cruises are. On Norwegian I had just the opposite experience. To start I was pleasantly surprised by the quickness of boarding the ship that was awesome. In heading to my room on the 10th floor upon opening the elevator I was startled by the smell of raw sewage. To be honest if I wanted to smell raw sewage I’ll go get a job at the local water treatment plant. This smell never went away the whole cruise. It then became everywhere I went even on the top pool deck. It’s a good thing this cruise is unlimited drinks because it made this some what bearable. After getting to Cuba I really enjoyed the quickness of boarding on and off the boat. I loved getting to hang out there away from the septic tank called “Norwegian Sky”. After getting back on the boat and enjoying some fair food at the buffet we headed for bed. Our room was located just next to a room labeled “pool maintenance”. I’m not sure if you have ever had the cops come kick your door down in the middle of the night but that is what that room sounded like at all hours of the night making sleeping properly a chore. I was left tired throughout most of the cruise. That was really a big disappointment. How can you relax on vacation without even being able to sleep. The adults pool was also closed for a day and a half during this time which seemed ridiculous. So after leaving Cuba I got some cool pics from the back of the boat of the harbor which was cool. It made me wonder though why on most of the decks there is limited views due to dirty windows that extend all the way up. I thought being on the water on a cruise I would get some better views. Headed off to the Bahamas turned the pool deck into a party which was cool if there was enough pool space to entertain the whole party. The pool that day went from clear to yellow by the afternoon which is why I stayed clear of taking a dip in. I also thought the entertainment by the pool was super cheesy most of the day. I was informed by the lifeguard that this was the only cruise ship you can’t have a drink near the pool which I thought was rediculous. I couldn’t even sit in the edge of the pool with a beer. I did like the reggae banned that played though they were great. I did like the bartenders at the pool deck too. In getting to the Bahamas I was looking forward to stretching my legs and getting away from the septic tank. We then found out that that we weren’t going to make that stop which is a total let down. I was informed it’s pretty common for this maybe 1/3 of the time. I think that’s a bit higher than it should be. So back to sea brought another busy day probably busiest day yet on the pool deck. Today I was just ready to be back home and away from the septic tank so I decided to not drink any alcohol and drink water that was located on the bar in a huge jug. I am not sure how they fill this but I think it made me sick. I was deathly ill by the time we made it to Miami. I am still recovering from being sick and missing already 2 days of work. So we made reservations the night before at the palace which a pretty limited menu. I thought my steak was over cooked and sub par. This night we decided to try the crossings which had the exact same menu. Why not call it the same restaurant if it’s literally the same menu. Again I was let down. After getting to Miami I was surprised again by u loading times and speed. Thank god because it was the worst vacation I have ever had and take 5-6 a year for last 25 years. Overall I have mostly nothing but bad things to say for the cruise ship. I don’t know if this was the worst renovation I have ever seen on a boat that just needs to be retired and put back in the dry dock to be brought to the scrap yard. This experience on the boat has left a sour taste in my mouth about cruises. I am tempted to try another cruise line due to all my friends raving about them but I honestly don’t know if I can take another step on a septic tank or know if they all are septic tanks on the ocean. This experience I rated as poor because the cons greatly out way the pros in this ship. I would beware to anyone booking a cruise on the “Norwegian Sky”. Read Less

We have been on several cruises from Carnival, Royal Carribean, and Disney Cruise Line. We have spent as little as $200 to as much as $1,000 per person on cruises. Before leaving we made sure we dotted all our “I’s” and crossed all of our “t’s” as far as passport and visas go. My husband has dual citizenship (Brazilian, and American) and his American passport was expired so we made sure that we could leave the country and come back with his Brazilian passport and naturalization certificate. We called a total of six times to the port and NCL to make sure we were good to cruise with those documents. Both the port of Canaveral and NCL customer services assured us that we were good to go with those documents. On May 20th we were ready to go (so we thought)…. We arrived at the port and the lady that was taking care of us seemed a little confused. Her name was Miranda. She was a very sweet lady however didn’t really know how to input our information etc… She asked a very nice lady (I’m assuming a manager) and the lady said our documents were fine etc…. Miranda continued to be confused as she had other questions so another manager by the name of David Johnson came to us and immediately urged us to go to the managers desk. We gladly went assuming that he would help us and expedite our check in. We reach the managers desk and another lady by the name of Kathleen Bianchi kept asking us if we could go home and get his “American passport”. We explained that it was expired and that we called six times to make sure we could travel with the Brazilian passport blah blah blah….. She insisted on us giving her names of people that we spoke to which we didn’t have. In the mean time Mr. David made copies of all of our paperwork and asked me bluntly, “Mam, I need to know if you will be boarding today without your husband?”. I was in shock!!!! I didn’t even know that it was a possibility that my husband couldn’t get on the boat. They NEVER apologized and acted in any way sorry for what was happening to us. There were NO lamentable feelings from them AT ALL…. We remained calm and very politely asked them to please check with immigration because we knew that we were ok to travel to Cuba with his Brazilian passport. Mr. David said it wasn’t “his job” to make sure of anything. It was “our” duty to ensure we had the appropriate paperwork. In the meantime, I advised my husband to call the duty officer at “custom and border patrol” (located downstairs from where we were). We called and spoke to officer Dusan who assured us that we were good to travel with the documents we had. He even advised us to ask Mr. David to look up the website page where it specifies the necessary documents. Again Mr. David refused. At this point Im done. Im thinking we’re not going to board and we should have just cancelled our cruise. My husband saw the young manager that initially helped us going to the bathroom. He ran to wait for her outside the ladies bathroom so that when she came out he explained our situation. She quickly spoke with Kathleen (whom at this point felt she could do something to help us) both ladies went downstairs and within FIVE minutes came back with the okay for us to board. O.K…… at this point, 3 hours later, I am exhausted, but relieved! Now it was time to enjoy our very much-needed vacation. We purchased our cruise for $1,546.18 (for two). We had done a Disney cruise a couple months prior for about the same price. I mention that because we expected this to be just as nice as the Disney Cruise. To our dismay…. It WASN’T!!!! We went to customer service every single day asking for the gift that our travel agent bought us and they denied the gift. Customer service kept saying the gift was never purchased and we needed proof. Unfortunately we didn’t snap a picture of the “proof” so we never received our gift. NO biggie….. Then, we purchased the water bottle package on our second day of the cruise. We only received it on the last day of our cruise. Everyday, I would walk to the bar and remind them that we didn’t get our water bottles and they kept saying it was on the way but we only got it the last day. When we looked up our cruise there was a deal going on that we had an option to receive one out of five perks for free. Since this was an open bar cruise, we decided to opt for free wifi. Again, customer service looked me in the eye and said we were not eligible for the free perk since we paid the cheapest rate for our cruise. Cheapest rate??? Really???? I didn’t think that almost $800 per person was the cheapest rate for a cruise. Oh…. Since this was an open bar cruise the service at the bar was horrible to say the least. I wont even get into those details. Food was “okay”… hit or miss. I was given a butter knife to cut through a steak that was super chewy and inedible. Server never checked back after food was served. Buffet food was disgusting. We ate at the buffet just once and couldn’t even go back because it was gross. I NEVER fill out surveys, I NEVER give bad reviews… I just don’t have the time to do it. However, the rollercoaster of feelings that occurred before we even boarded was so disheartening that I couldn’t let this go without saying something. It’s interesting that in the end, Kathleen (one of the managers) said this to us, “you know, in hindsight, I regret not taking 5 minutes of my time to go downstairs and gather the correct information for you guys”. That’s my whole point in writing this review! It would have all been a very different story if they had only taken 5 MINUTES of their “clock time” to make sure there was nothing that could have been done for us. We are hard working middle class people that was looking forward to a little getaway, and without any regards for us, NCL was quick to deny our cruise and never even offered any remuneration of any kind. For the reasons stated above, I would NEVER suggest anyone getting on the Norwegian cruise line…. EVER….. and I am writing this in hope that this never happens to anyone else. If we had “given up” we would have been out of luck. We would not have boarded and we would have lost our money. Read Less

Went on the Alaskan cruise on the newly refurbished Norwegian Joy. The ship has a very modern interior and from the first glance appears to be great. However, their lack of attention started to show quickly after embarkment. The biggest issue I had was the width of the hallways by the staterooms. Some floors, if you had gotten off in the wrong set of elevators, required you to walk through the stateroom hallways. This would be okay if the hallways were large enough to permit a wheelchair or walker, which in the Joy’s case they were not particularly when the housekeeping’s carts were scattered every forty feet. In the main areas the doors opened via a touch panel. I failed to see any consistent placement of these panels even on the double entry doors. There was some cool extras like go karts, mini golf, and laser tag. Unfortunately, there were no elevators to these floors making it difficult to accommodate parties with mobility disabilities. I looked forward to these attractions but refused to use them because of this deficiency. In addition, the embarkment and disembarkment days were handled poorly. Both boarding and leaving the ship had us joining multiple lines, had us leave the ship and badge back in only to leave the ship a second time, & because of the delays caused in the confusion many people ended up running to catch flights (including myself). The best thing about the Joy was their show Footloose. This is a great thing too since seeing the show meant we had to miss out on their main dance party. They had some trivia, but the cruise director and team lacked luster and the games fell flat most times. The Starbucks located in the atrium where most activity occurred was nice. In short, unless Norwegian decides to invest in training, the ship’s ergonomics, and time management; I would not suggest this ship. Alaska’s inside passage cruises are some of the best, but do yourself a favor and pick a better ship! Read Less

Nothing to do in this boat, Cruise director was terrible, not enough seating, not enough accommodation, long lines at restaurants. Entertainment was horrible. They cut the trip short, less than a week before departure, they changed the destinations twice, a couple of days before departure. Hello. I was looking for a cruise to wind down and relax. However the cruise was a tornado of dysfunctional proportions by the cruise line. I get to the window and give them my passports. They ask for my room number. I offer it. The lady says, no the room number on the website is not your room. The supervisor female comes over and says they double booked us. Here is our number to our room. They gave us 2 sets of keys Incase (liability) all day long. We tried our room number from the website a gentleman and his female were in the room. He got angry with me from entering. Clearly NCL screwed up. Days 1,2,5 we had a toilet not working. I called days 1 & 2 to fix it. On day 2 the toilet comes out of the wall. I called guest services no answer, I tried again, finally someone answered. I said “didn’t you guys put the toilet back on after fixing it” I had charges from this other couple on my bill. I had photos on my card of this same other couple. On the day we were supposed to leave, I never got a letter that affords my group to be taken to Miami airport. Went down to the desk asked for the letter. The room number on the letter was different.... again. Plus all the charges on my bill were someone else. By fighting when them days 1,2,5 I was mentally exhausted by 8 pm. I had anxiety from the stress and my grandmother so angry. My grandmother has been on lots of cruises but this one was beyond her comprehension. I asked for a full refund. I didn’t enjoy at all. It didn’t live up to the amount I paid. The food was OK like a upscale Disney Park. The people working on the boat always smiling and exceptional. But no one has authority. Even when this guy hit me. No one took a interest in my concerns or safety despite writing in the comment box. And NCL never responded to my email. So. I would not recommend NCL Dawn. In good faith I was looking for a apologize. Don’t know if I will ever get it. The toilet came out of the wall bruised my leg. Just a really bad time. Read Less

My husband and I were recently on the Norwegian Getaway Ship that sailed from NYC on Saturday April 13 and returned Saturday April 20, 2019. We have used Carnival and Royal Caribbean cruise lines, but this was our first experience on NCL. It was awful. This was by far the worst cruise we have ever had the displeasure of sailing. We had so many issues, I don’t even know how to rank them, so in no particular order: 1. Instead of a queen bed, we were given 2 twin beds with a large sheet on top. There was no cushion, and both beds dipped in the middle it was incredibly uncomfortable. 2. There was no outlet by the bed, and my husband had to ask for an extension cord for his sleep apnea machine, which we had to run the length of the cabin. 3. Throughout the week, the understaffed and overcrowded buffets, bars, and restaurants ran out of water, ice, soft ice cream, and bloody Mary mix. 4. The adults only “Vibe” that could only be reserved once on the ship was sold out within hours of boarding, if not sooner. (I wouldn’t know the exact time because the line to speak with someone was at least 2 hours.) 5. All the on board shows were booked at least days beforehand. They were also very small venues so only a small, select amount of people could see them. For a so-called “Free-style” cruise, there seems to be an extensive amount of pre-planning involved. 6. During the day there were no beach chairs, and the chairs that only had a towel on them stayed for hours without a person or cruise member removing it. 7. The so-called “adults only” whirlpools were over-run with pre-teenagers and teenagers. When we (and another couple) asked a few cruise members to have the children to leave, they refused to tell the kids to evacuate. 8. For the only TWO days we got chairs after 4 PM we were told the towels had to be returned before 7 PM. 9. More often than not, the elevators were incredibly crowded. I am not even referring to attempting to board or disembark. On a daily basis it was a task just to get an elevator and often my husband and I were crowded around several other passengers. 10. We were able to have 3 dinners at specialty restaurants; however, at the complimentary restaurants we had a MINIMUM of a 45 minute wait or had to go later in the evening. 11. At the buffet, it was so difficult to find a table my husband and I took turns standing on line for food. Often, one side of the buffet was closed as well. 12. The bars on the ship were either closed or completely understaffed. Most bars had only 1 bartender and we had to wait 10 minutes or longer for a drink. 13. We were also charged a port tax for the drinks we ordered on the ship while docked. While I understand, now, that this is a law, only 1 waiter informed us. We would do not have a problem paying it; however, we should have been clearly informed. Overall, my husband and I travel to get away from schedules and routines. We want our vacations to be relaxing and stress-free. NCL does not follow their own advertisement of “free-style” and relaxing. We were incredibly disappointed in so many areas. Many of the other passengers we spoke to felt the same way. It’s a shame such a beautiful ship is being run by a company too incompetent to make sure people who have the time and ability to return, do not feel welcomed back. Read Less

I have been cruising for 40 years. My very fist cruise was on NCL Starward in 1984. This was a theme cruise which it why I chose it. The Summer Palace was beautiful, the dining room staff was very pleasant, but the food. OMG! Terrible is an understatement for the worst dining room food I have ever experienced. I am amazed at how bad it was! The menu never changed, & the menu descriptions did not describe what they brought out. Crispy fish that came out poached, Bourbon chicken that was really BBQ, mystery sauces on everything! I never went back after day 3 except to look at the menu. The buffet was OK, & I mean just OK. My 1st cabin smelled liked sewage. But, lucky me, there was a water pipe break day 2 which flooded most of the deck, I was able to pack up & move, but my new cabin was in a less than desirable location, over loud equipment used by the staff in the early AM & right under The Stardust Theatre. But at least it didn't smell. Cabin stewards were nice. Most of the people on the ship seemed to be miserable working there & the officers seemed quite unfriendly. Once you are trapped at sea, they nickel & dime you to death! I would swear the ships stabilizers were broken it was so rough. I have never been sea sick before, so I don't if it was that or the bad food, but I stayed queasy for 7 days. I do not believe in saying never, will I will never sail with nor recommend NC to anyone. This ship needs a total remodel. AVOID! Up side, I lost 5 pounds. Read Less

I have been going through some personal problems. MY spouse and my Doctor suggested a cruise, because every one knows how fun they are and they thought it was the perfect thing. Well the first night the maître de was very rude when we asked to be put on the list for dinner. The hostess tried to be nice and told him that they still had a whole section they had not opened yet. The Maître de was very rude to her and told us it would be 30 minutes. NO problem, went tried to get a drink while we waited. No wait staff anywhere. So we went to the nearest bar and ordered drinks, it took 20 minutes. At dinner the wait staff were working very had to keep up with everything. That was impossible for them. We keep running out of water, he forgot our bread basket. NO smiles, no apologies, he was just to busy to care. Everyday was like this. One morning I just had to complain. The service was so offal and food was terrible. I was so upset I spent 2 hours crying in my room. We made it into 2 shows Jungle Dreams and the rock show. Both shows were fantastic. The food and service at the Jungle dreams show was delicious and on point. We tried to get into some of the bars, the lines were long and over crowded when we did get in. NO wait staff again. some clubs had standing room only. we didn't like that very much. so we ended up watching tv in our room a lot. I would never recommend this cruise line to anyone. The waitstaff was rude and practically not there. I fact I am thinking about suing Norwegian for a full refund. And medically setting my recovery back. Read Less

We had heard good things about Norwegian and wanted to give them a try. We were disappointed. The food was terrible and it was impossible to get into the smaller shows. One night I ordered what was supposed to be a hot appetizer and it came out stone cold. Food had no flavor. At the pub they serve your food in a metal basket sitting on a piece of paper which made it impossible to use a knife. We enjoyed our excursions. The cabin steward was terrible. She did not listen to our requests. The room was a nightmare. It was embarrassing as you could see through the glass. The beds were as hard as a rock. The only real plus was the unlimited beverage package. The casino was tight. I figured I would have earns some perks for the amount of money I spent. Other cruise lines have given me free cruises, wine etc.We will never sail Norwegian again. We prefer Carnival. Read Less

We have taken over 20 cruises and I must say, this ship had the worst cabin housecleaning and the worst dining room food that we have ever experienced. We should have known considering at the very beginning the previous passenger's shaver and shampoo were in shower! Even after complaining and having the room cleaned again-balcony was never touched. Mirrors still had streaks. The rest of the the staff were just as awful. Bartenders. Dining room staff. They barely spoke to you. And that food in the dining room? Diner quality. And the sushi we paid extra for-supermarkets do a better job. Buffet never changed-day after day. Boring and limited! Private NCL island we visited was extremely expensive. Food and drinks were not included like most other cruise lines with their own islands. Upon returning home it's amazing how many people have told us how bad NCL has become. Do yourself a favor-choice another cruise line. Read Less

The overall experience was horrible! It was too crowded! They had the same food on the buffet everyday. The staff was rude and it would take over 30 min to get a drink. You had to make reservations for everything but by the time you get on the ship everything was already fully booked. They did not offer refills when dining at specialty restaurants . It is not a kid friendly ship. They only have one very small pool and splash pad. There were not enough seats around the pool area. The smoking area was a small little shack on the 15th floor. The bars would close too early. There were only two channels on the tv. The beds were wore out and uncomfortable. The app was hard to download and cost $9.99 a person and only worked half the time. The help desk was not helpful at all. And the best place we visited was Costa Maya and only got to stay their for 6 hours. Read Less

Door lock in suite had to be replaced at midnight one maint guy on duty had 3 jobs to do before us, took til 1am to fix. Over crowded could not find a place to layout on deck. Get a drink took 45 min before anyone would acknowledge us. Heard from many staff when asked for service...I'm going on break I will get someone else to help you and noone came back. Then delayed to get off ship almost missed our shuttle to parking lot. Horrible experience! I will stick with Celebrity and Royal Caribbean for cruises in the future. I can’t ever see myself or our group doing NCL again. Poor service many errors and overall poor customer service. Billing issues on my account before even leaving port. 2 drinks $74 bill. Had drink package. Lack of bar service. Only cruise out of 27 or so I had to visit the guest service desk 4 times. I am really easy going person. Food in the taste did not come out together from 1st person getting apps to last person was 10 minutes and the meal was 15. The pub should be a place to show up and have some drinks but you must check in to get table and wait. Freestyle Cruising has missed the Mark. You much plan all your items like shoes and tenders to shore. Don’t try to do what you want or when you want to do it. I will not say it ruined the cruise because our group still make the best of it. Looks elsewhere if you have cruised other cruise lines. Read Less

Disclaimer: "I am an avid NCL cruise fan and stock holder. I only cruise on NCL as they are the best brand for me with the free-style attitude. I prefer not to have a dining time, and prefer to just do what I want to do when I want to do it. NCL provides that for me, so I stick with that is not broken. This cruise was my 15th cruise on Norwegian and 14th different boat. Yes, I know kind of crazy, but it just worked out that way. I am also going on the Epic in June, and that boat is the only one I've not been on." The Norwegian Bliss was by far my worst experience on an NCL Ship. To put it lightly I hated it. The main reason is that it is way too crowded. The ship is big, and yet too crowded (that tell you something). This is especially true with the buffett area. There really isn't a great outdoors on this ship, which really sucks because that tends to spread people out. You cannot find a table in the buffet area for at least 15 mins. At some points, you see people standing up and eating. A terrible design, just horrible. If you get on this ship, you will be frustrated just as I was. Now I did figure out that the 15th deck (the one with the glass around it FWD) has a small buffet. That tended to be a bit less crowded. I can imagine on the Alaska cruises it won't be as I am sure more people will flock there. The whole go-cart thing is the real reason the boat is so crowded. They decided to build that to look cool, but in the end it took a lot of space they could of used for other things. I think eventually it will burn them. As I mentioned the buffet could be much bigger, and should be much bigger. Not to mention, the same problem goes with beach chairs. You won't get one unless you get there at 6-7:30am. After that forget it, you won't get a chair. This will also frustrate you. I have to say the staff were awesome just as they are on all of the ships I go on. The exception is the guest services people as they sometimes are incompetent. Everybody else is fantastic especially the bartenders. The meals on this ship were not as good as some others. The only good meal I had the entire time was in Cagney's. Everything else was just average or just plain not good. The only thing good in the buffet was the Indian food. Everything else was just average. This is surprising because this is the first time that has happened. Out of 15 cruises on NCL, this was the only time I was real disappointing with the food. I still haven't figured out why they don't open Spice H2O every night as that is the best place on the ship at night. Fresh air dancing, and drinking. Yet they only have it open for one night and half. Makes no sense to me. Other ships had it open most nights. Embarkation and Debarkation were smooth. I am a Platinum Plus member, so my opinion on that isn't really relevant. But I do think NCL is getting better and better with embarkation and debarkation. As I mentioned, I am a NCL fan. I love the brand, but there is no way I will be back on the Bliss. Not a shot in the world. The other boats are much better in just about every way. I would highly recommend doing your research before booking a cruise on the bliss. Read Less

My wife and I have been on several cruises before but this was our first and last cruise with Norwegian Cruise Lines. Their lack of communication and unwillingness to take any responsibility for anything is astounding. Our departure was delayed by one day because of bad weather which we understand. However, we do not understand why Norwegian did not communicate that to us. Instead our Norwegian shuttle picked us up at the airport and drove us to the pier where the dock hand informed us that our ship would not be arriving until the next day. Our shuttle driver unloaded our luggage and told us we would have to find ourselves a hotel for the night. There we were wondering the unfamiliar streets of New York City looking for a hotel that had room along with the other 2000 guests of the ship that were in the same predicament. The next morning at embarkation they handed us a sheet of paper telling us that because of the delay in departure they had cancelled 2 of our scheduled ports with no reason given and that they would be refunding us for 1 day of our cruise. It is now more than a month since the cruise ended and we are still fighting for our 1 day refund and they will not even reply to my emails. It was not the cruise itself that we have a problem with it is Norwegian's complete lack of customer service that we find unacceptable. Read Less

had terrible service at bars. bar tenders worked hard, but needed help to keep up. Drink package extremely too high. traveling friend did not drink, but was forced to pay $1,700 for both if interested. I just didn't drink that much on cruise. Just ok service at restaurants, even the specialty ones (3). Both cabin beds felt like they had nails poking out of them. Had to take pain pills to get thru the night. A lot of over charges that I am having to dispute. A lot of double charges. Charged for lot of drinks I did not receive and don't have receipts for so going to have to dispute those also. Embarkation took over hour and half after we got to pier just waiting in cab. Once inside like chaos boarding. Same for disembarking. Mile long waiting lines to get off! I waited until latest point to go get final bill so it would more likely be close to accurate only to find when I got home and checking credit card bill os all the erroneous charges that even put me over my limit several thousand dollars and effect my credit rating negatively. This was fourth time on this particular ship with prior cruises OK. They just did about everything you could do wrong on this voyage and charged me dearly for it. They don't like it when you win in the casino and was told so! Everyone just suppose to act like sheep and lose a thousand or so and go home happy. Not good business and very unprofessional This is first time after about 65 cruises that I have complained. I just felt this time I had to let other cruisers know things don't always go right but this was awful. Thanks, Im getting writers cramp so will bid you farewell for now. Already have had another cruise planned for April on Symphony of the Seas. Will be first time on this ship. I sure hope things go better.. Bye Read Less

I've cruised several different cruise lines and several different times, but this was my first time with Norwegian! IT WILL BE MY ABSOLUTE LAST TIME I ever cruise Norwegian! There were 14 of us in our group (7 moms, 7 kids ages 7-10 years old) and all of us experienced the issues below. 1. CHARGES - I can't stress this point enough! - Watch your account charges! I prepaid a year in advance for the unlimited drink package and paid all taxes and gratuities. Makes a person think all should be good and paid for except for any additional excursions you choose. They didn't show I had paid for the drink package or for the taxes and gratuities even though I had all my paperwork showing I had paid! I had to become nasty to get what was due to me! This didn't just happen to me it happened to our whole group! There were 14 of us and we spent a huge amount of time at guest services discussing random mini bar charges, dining room charges, service charges, etc. WATCH your account, it seems like a huge scam to nickel and dime you until you wear down. 2. SHIP - the ship has NOTHING to offer kids! No where in our information did it say that the main pool on the ship is "ADULT ONLY"....no kids, no teens in the pool. There is a water slide and a kiddie pool. Now if you have a teenager I think you can understand why a teen would not want to be swimming in the kiddie pool (which is like a pool for 3 and 4 year olds). The entire cruise seemed to be geared around senior adults only. A lot of the main shows cost extra $$ and I've never been on a cruise where the shows cost extra! There are zero waiters around the pool, so you are forced to go up to the bar to get drinks and it takes a long time to get a drink (like 45 minutes). No food is allowed around the pool or at least that's what we were told, so zero poolside snacks. We were also told to get out of or off of the side of the pool with a drink in our hand. The customer service on the ship is absolutely the WORST I've ever experienced. Instead of the mentality of "let's make sure the passengers enjoy their vacation" it's more a mentality of "let's see how much more money we can squeeze out of the passenger's without them noticing". 3. DINING - the food was below average. Nothing horrible to say about it, but nothing great to say. Read Less

This is an old, tired and run down ship that should be retired. The food in the Aloha Cafe was on par with the Golden Corral, tired looking and lukewarm. The bus staff were atrocious. They walked around like zombies, not noticing the dirty plates at the end of the table. We did try the main dining room for lunch and that was a mistake. The nachos and philly cheese steak we order came covered in melted cheese whiz. The food looked like it was under a food lamp for hours. A fast food meal is better than this meal. We must give cudo’s to the staff at Cagney, where we enjoyed a great meal and great service. The manager was very attentive. This meal was deferently the highlight of the cruise. The bathroom in our cabin was small where taking a proper shower was next to impossible. The only standout here was our cabin steward. We did not have time to check out the entertainment as it was poorly planned with the restaurant operations. For example, the Aloha Cafe opens at 6:00 pm and the first show was at 6:30 pm. This meant that we would have to go to later shows Over the earlier shoes. Basically, this cruise is not worth the money we paid for it. The premium we paid for was for an all American crew. There were only a select few of the crew who stood out and truly represented the Pride of America. You’re better flying to each island and booki a hotel on each if. NCL’s POA IS AN EPIC FAIL.
