I've sailed NCL 7 times, 4 on this ship alone. Always good, except this time. Staff said about 2000 kids were on this cruise and it showed. They were everywhere bumping into people, knocking things over, leaving messes. And the staff wasn't happy and it showed. Besides the unhappy staff, the food was usually cold or lukewarm, and some tasted like microwave dinners. Not the norm for NCL. But I will say the food you paid even more for in the specialty restaurants was awesome! Entertainment was hard with so many people and they've changed some things. Usually walked into comedy clubs, this time had to make reservations. They didn't specify that though we were on standby and got right in every time. Wanted to do an event that had to be reserved on board, they had like 10 shows, they booked up on day 1, again I was on standby and over half the reservations didn't show, so we got right in. Just very disorganized compared to other cruises. Read Less

My wife and I have been on both Disney and Celebrity Cuise Lines in the past, this is the first on Norwegian. It is also our first cruise over Christmas. The good- lots to do and the Entertainment was the best we have seen on a cruise ship. We liked the balcony room design and our attendant was fantastic. If you have kids this ship is for you. Our favourite restaurants were The Bistro and Noodles. We have had a nice Xmas dinner at Manhattans. The bad- There was always a line whether we had reservations or not. It was annoying because the reservation system was abused by customers and the staff allowed it. Also some restaurants did not allow couples to reserve yet bigger groups were allowed,so while we stood in line big groups were brought right in. The ship was not very clean and the customer service was not up to the standards we are used to. Staff seemed confused and unsure. What we learned, we like specialized dining but with structured seating. We will probably return to Celebrity ( Reflection, Edge etc) and if we had kids go to Disney or Royal Caribbean. Celebrity should learn from Norwegians Entertainment package , Prescilla of the Desert, Burn the floor and the Comedians and magic acts were fantastic on Norwegian never saw anything that good on Celebrity. Picked this cruise that was leaving from Miami to the Caribbean and at the time hoping we would have nice weather. We did have nice weather. We were upgraded to a junior suite which was nice. Cabin attendant Arsen was great. Dining at the Savor and Taste were wonderful. Service was great. The server Alfredo and his assistant were wonder and always mentioned our names. These tow restaurants were much quieter that the main dining room, which was too noisy. We did (4) specialty restaurants, the food and service was exceptional. Breakfast most morning were at the Savor/Taste. The pastry women entertained all of the guests with a their special routine of singing and giving pastries to each person. They made you laugh with their dancing. The big issue was with the atrium seating. All of the seats were set up for groups of people. That made it hard to get a seat. It was like a maze. Even the bar servers found it difficult to get a drink to you. You had to sit at an angle to watch the show. Terrible, redo the seating for the atrium. The ships staff were very friendly as always. We like going to the Mexican Riviera as it is close to home. Would rather the volume of all entertainment be turned down instead of increasing the volume for every venue. Kids club needs alot of improvement. I would have loved to have the swimming pool heated. After a conversation with the pool hand and the engineer in charge of the pool we were told that it was a law that the pool had to be a certain temp which was set at 26 degrees celsius. If you have more that three guests in a cabin be sure to check that they have pullman beds and not a bed in between the other twin beds. The configuration should be redone to accommodate four people comfortably. The speciality dining package was not too good. Mostly fat at the Modernos. The Le Bistro doesn't offer to much of a selection. Cagney's was the best but if you don't sign up ahead of time you can forget eating before 9:00pm. The entertainment could have been alot better if the volume had been turned down at all venues instead of cranked up to the point of wearing earplugs that still did not help. Many guests around us felt the same way and we saw crowds of people get up and walk out along with us. The kids club was awful especially when NCL advertises computer games. My two grandchildren saw only balls being tossed around and my little 6 year old got hit in the leg and that ended it for her. My 11 year old grandson refused to go as he is only interested in computer games. Much improvement needs to be done with the kids program. Read Less

Very good dining. Staff is friendly and food and beverage employees are for most of them really working hard to satisfy guests. I mean it. They are excellent. I felt that the boat was booked beyond the real capacity of the staff and venues. And felt like always racing to have a table, chair or a seat at the theater pool restaurant atrium shore excursions and buffet. I disagree on the fact that there are more restaurant and shows with extra charges than the free ones and that they charges more for certain liquors. The haven section is a big joke making you feel like you didn't pay enough. Why don't they build a Norwegian Heaven instead. Finally talking with other guests that were one ncl for the first time I found that I paid more for less. Even after coming back for the fifth time. Been on the Dawn and Gem and the entertainment crew was better. The only entertainment thumbs up is the regular parties at h20 other than that it's the first cruise that I sometimes felt bored. First time in Hawaii and thought cruising on the Pride of America would be a great introduction to the islands. Yes it was. Last minute change did not allow us to go around Naple Coast due to extended time in port so we missed that. We stopped on 4 islands and got a great feel for each area. Shocked when we arrived at port and there was NO line. Embarkation was fast and friendly. Luggage was in our room within 2 hours. Cabin was the standard balcony but door to balcony doesn't open very far. Cabin steward was very attentive. Overall ship decor was very nice. Dining left something to be desired. Not a fan of 'freestyle' dining anyway but it was difficult to get reservations from 6 to 8 unless you made them days in advance. Food was not at the level I would have hoped and service was slow in both the Liberty and Starlight main dining rooms. Most of the other dining options were an additional charge. Went to the brazilian style dining room and was very disappointed. We paid additional $60 for poor service and did not even see more than half of the food options that were to be brought to the tables. The buffet was fine for breakfast and lunch but limited options. Entertainment was very good. Both the shows and the poolside entertainers were very talented. Some the the ports have very little to see near the ship. We had excursions scheduled so that was not a concern and the excursions were wonderful. The ship does not seem as well organized in getting people to the excursion however. This is a great way to visit many island but I would not take this cruise a second time. Read Less

I picked Norwegian Cruise Line because it departed from New York City. The embarkation was not easy. It took way too long for a handicapped person to complete the onboarding process even I went through the special need line. The ship is a smaller ship compare to other Norwegian ships or other cruise lines. The cabin is also small compare to other cruise lines especially the bathroom. However, I love the food option on the ship except the food at Orchid Garden which was horrible, it was way too salty. Also, the handicapped areas at Garden Cafe were always occupied. The cruise staffs should help the special needed passengers. All shows at Stardust theater were magnificent except the comedy show which was not funny at all. Yet, the services on the ship was exceptional. The cruise staff for activities were super friendly and helpful especially the girls named Sarah and Ranya. I'd like to try different ship from Norwegian next time. Read Less

This ship is too big. This was our third cruise with Norwegian (past cruises on Getaway and Escape). We were disappointed that Spice H2O was cut to half the size on the other ships to accommodate the loading area of the "race track" (the racing was pathetic, speed controlled by NCL employee and only a 3 or 4 laps, no room for passing). The Glow party became the Family Glow party and lasted one hour after which the DJ packed up his equipment and went elsewhere. We were also a little put off by the race track and laser tag taking up one whole deck. they took out the free activities and replaced them with revenue producing ones. I would rather have the ropes course, climbing wall, and basketball court rather then having to pay for the rather pathetic race track and rarely open laser tag. Other than that the crew and food were excellent. We ate at Q twice and it was probably the beast BBQ I have had. They are changing the drink menus also (no more Mango Meltdowns) and a lot of trainee bartenders that don't know anything beyond the basic mixed drinks. Christmas decorations were pretty, but blocked the view of the atrium from above, which is where we usually watch the shows from. The port at Nassau was awful, three other mega ships in port with us, excursions were rushed and crowded, not worth the time or expense, St. Thomas and Tortola were ok, but I don't think we will ever go on this itinerary again. We like Norwegian Cruise lines and it is our Cruise line of choice. We sailed on this same ship last year so we knew the layout and enjoy the ship layout. We left on 7 Dec for 10 days doing Puerto Rico, St Thomas, Barbados, St Kitts, St Lucia and St Maarten. We enjoyed all the amenities as Platinum members however this time we were in an inside room and really no big deal. This ship was packed first time we had seen that on any of our cruises. So last year on my birthday, 9 Dec, we found cake in the room and a card, this year we got a card at the start, that was it. We were in a balcony last year this year inside so were we treated different because of the cabin? Only they know. We enjoyed a few excursions, one in St Thomas, the Sky Tram, it gave you a great view and there is a café at the top. Plus we had the $50 back per cabin for excursions making this one free. It really was worth the money though. We did the Catamaran and swim with the Turtles in Barbados, another great time, the water was great, the lunch was very good and the crew was fantastic, the company was Tiamni or something, and the captain was Jewels. Really a nice excursion, we did the long one so we were out around 6 hours. The last excursions were on St Lucia, I did the zip line, this was great and included the tram ride up and down the mountain, lots of hummingbirds to see so have your camera ready. The zip lining was a lot of fun, never had any worry on safety at all. My wife did the volcano tour and she liked it. Our biggest issues were with the service in some of the restaurants. We loved Cagneys, the Prime Rib was great, my wife's steak was great, they did forget Onion Rings but brought out a cream corn while they prepared the onion rings, The wait was really minor, and all in all this was excellent. La Cucina, Italian food, this was disappointing, really the buffet was better. The food wasn't much better than Chef boy-r-dee. We really liked Jasmine Garden last year however this year the food was good but service wasn't. They seemed to be short on waiters and waitresses with most working in Teppenyaki, This left Jasmine Garden short and these seemed to be just the guys they had left. The food quality was down as well. The Garden Buffet, I know these usually get bad raps but really the Garden Buffet was pretty consistent and really over all pretty good. Our favorite was the Alizar, this is one of the complimentary dinner restaurants. The food was always very good and service was very good. A nice place for your evening meals. You can make reservations but you have to do it on the Norwegian App on your phone. You can't make them at the reservations desk. We had the drink package and visited most of the bars but our favorites was Tankards beer and Whiskey bar. Chris was our bartender and took excellent care of us. The shows were mostly repeats from last year which was disappointing. The one new show was just "meh". I guess the big thing was the crew just seemed off not on top of their game as we had expected. This was just our overall perception and not sure I could pin it down to one thing. There were many of the crew that took excellent care of us but the feel wasn't right. We would go on another Norwegian Cruise but probably not on this ship. I will say this isn't a huge ship which is nice, the big ones are sometimes just too big. Read Less

My husband and I wanted to see New Orleans and chanced upon this cruise. We cruised with NCL when we crossed the Panama Canal and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, so we thought we would attach this cruise to our NOLA visit. We got upgraded to a balcony and really enjoyed it. There was no one looking onto us in the balcony and, even though we could hear our neighbours if they were to talk, we do not see them. Dining was the biggest disappointment. Selections were not spectacular even though we can find something we wish to try every evening. The only memorable dinner was the prime ribs at Manhattan one evening and the braised oxtail at the buffet on another. There were a couple of rock concerts which were very loud. The best show was Burn the Floor. In addition, we enjoyed the magician as well as the juggler. Overall, service was not up to standard. A couple of times, the person showing us to our table in Manhattan took us to the wrong area and couldn't find the designated table even though they had the floor plan in hand (this is also the first cruise I've seen them with floor plans in hand). I used to be impressed by the room steward who make up the room as soon as you leave it even though they were nowhere to be seen. On this one, you see the stewards around, esp. their buckets, vacuum cleaners and wagons but we could be in and out of the room several times during the day and still return to an unmade room! Grand Cayman was to be the highlight of this cruise but we were not allowed to go ashore. The captain said it was because of big swells but we did not feel anything and we saw an RCCL ship next to us tendering without any problem! Read Less

The smoke on deck 6 made us sick, had to see the onboard doctor, which really messed up our cruise. We love the Cavern club, but it was so packed that we couldn't enjoy it. People went to the show before and just hung out. Food from the Cirque was not good at all. The meat was cold. The biggest disappointment was that they only had two scuba (we are advance divers) excursions. They did not have any for Cayman or Belize which are amazing dive sites. We had to do our own for Jamaica, Cayman, and Belize. That was a huge disappointment. When we travel on Carnival they are working with us on the ship to schedule dives if they do not have any set up. Norwegian staff would not. The TV vacation planner did not work. We would have things schedule and it would not show up and then we didn't think we had it when we did. This happened in regards to a show and in regards to a dinner reservation. The iConceirge Ap said there was an upgrade and I was never able to use it. We did the Blackjack tournament and asked to get into the one of the rounds on a table that was not filled up and she said it was after 12 when our watches said 1158 and she would not budge even showing her the time. I was penalized in the Blackjack tournament for pushing two stacks of chips in one move onto the betting space when the lady running it told me I could not and then the next lady that took over told people to do it. Bathrooms on deck (not in the room) were often out of paper towels. The embark and disembark were nightmares. I've never had that kind of problem on any other ship. My wife said she would never want to travel on Epic again but I probably would (but not without her). After the experience, I prefer Carnival and the way they do things. I wanted to like Norwegian more. The stateroom and ship and staff were awesome. Read Less

We chose this cruise due to timing and itinerary. Also, having sailed several smaller ships, wanted to try a mega. My review is based on prior experience on smaller ships, so I’m not sure if I should have been surprised. First, I’m a fan of the freestyle dining and give very high marks to “Q” which was the best food on the ship. This could be an industry change, but all “included” meals did not match the quality I’ve experienced on RCC or HAC. Outside of Coco’s, which is phenomenal, I found the desserts to be disappointing, Loved the race track but would never do it more than once. The music/entertainment is outstanding. Especially recommend the Beatles cover band and 4Blue. My biggest disappointments involve the lack of service and personalized attention I have grown accustomed to. Other than the first day, did I ever experience anyone walking around with drink service. Regular restaurant service was poor and the sentiment of staff felt like they were doing us a favor by waiting on us. Several food orders wrong, which I can accept, except recovery also failed. Sat at many tables just waiting to be acknowledged by wait staff or brought coffee or refills. Let’s talk about the unlimited drink package: strange that includes all drinks up to $15.00, but not plain orange juice, water or coffee. Definitely felt like non-drinkers were on the wrong boat. Watch your pours at the bar: I had to take a breathalyzer test due to an accident and it registered 0.00, after 2 mojitos. They tasted good, but what was in them? Line does efficient job with getting on and off the boat, and muster drill was also super efficient - best one yet. Cabin was lovely and space used efficiently. First time on a cruise I had storage space I didn’t use. 11th floor balcony room with double sink. Steward was very good at securing eggcrate mattress topper to add comfort. Overall, the ship is stunning and allows for many places to explore and enjoy. But if you are wanting service and expect folks to assist you, choose another. It’s really ashame as basic training and English lessons could improve the customer experience 10x fold. Read Less

While the observation deck on this ship was wonderful, it is not their best ship. The observation deck was on Deck 15 and very nice. You could lay there in comfortable lounges to read a book, what the views leaving the port or what ever suited you. It was quiet and clean. The entertainment staff on this ship was EXCEPTIONAL! A lot fun, laughter, and friendly people! Cagney's steakhouse had awesome food! The ribeye is the best I have had in a long time. This ship has an adults only pool (no offense to anyone) which I thought was GREAT! The cabins are normal size, we had a balcony, but seemed to have more storage then on other ships. Our room steward was nice and friendly but we had to continually ask for towels. The pool waiters were rude and slow. Some of the staff all over the ship were not very friendly at all. Especially in the Manhattan restaurant. The food was very good, when it was finally served to you. The NCL app is worthless. Worked once the entire 7 day cruise. A lot of passengers had the same issue. The bottle water policy is the worst. They only give you one liter bottles that barely fit in the frig. This ship was totally understaffed. It was a pretty ship but I stil think the best ship is the Getaway. Read Less

We chose this cruise to go through the Panama Canal. We found the ship and cabin to be ok but food was mediocre...entertainment was a big disappointment. There was only one day when they talked about the canal versus Princess who had movies and documentaries along with a historian on for most of the cruise. The ports were ok but we just felt like there could have been much more to make thiscruise special. The food was very average. The salad bar never changed much. Desserts were tasteless. The theater was pitched very steeply and it was difficult to walk up and down. Entertainment was very poor. We were disappointed in the lack of guest speakers to talk about the canal. We have had documentaries and movies about the canal on other lines. We felt the ship excursionto Antigua was rushed and not worth the price. Our bus got a flat tire and we missed an hour of the excursion due to the flat. When we took the mangroves excursion we saw very little and the guide was hard to hear or understand. Read Less

We like Norwegian and it works with the schedule we have. Have been on the Gem before but feel she needs a refurbishing. Carpets were worn in many areas - the transition of caret from stairs to next level was deceiving, had to be really careful did not miss the step and fall. It was obvious that our cabin had a problem since over my bed the ceiling was black and had some of the ceiling material missing . The wait staff is very efficient to serving alcoholic beverages BUT one of our group does not drink alcohol and had to wait at least 5 too 10 minutes after we had our drinks before he received either his Pepsi or coffee. The ship ran out of creamers and strawberry jam (I can maybe see the running out of jam BUT not creamers. Think it is time for the entertainment on the Gem needs to be changed in the routines used - we love Mr. Tim but his performances used the same material as the year before. I did not care for the female singer but that is just me. The dance troupe/singer are wonderful but again it was the same shows as the year before. I think that for most people cruising you should have instructions as to how the shower controls work or someone could get really burned. We still love cruising and dealing with Norwegian but my thoughts as requested. THANK YOU Read Less

Of all the cruises I’ve taken, this was the least friendly experience. I’ll start with the positive aspects: - the process to get on the ship was smooth and efficient - the ship was very clean! Saw the staff continually cleaning the entire trip. Very much appreciated. - the evening shows were all great! Truly enjoyed each show that we attended! Negative aspects: - rarely ever saw cruise director and when we did he seemed annoyed to interact with patrons - red ticket drawing for free cruise was good idea but the process for the drawing on the last day was awful. Why not allow people to drop their tickets into a secured location throughout the trip and then do the drawing. - coast to coast by train excursion was awful. Spent majority of time on a bus, not the train. The actual train ride was great! Rewrite the description so people are aware they’ll be on the bus for a long time. - apparently there was an “activity card” that you could get signed off on and receive a prize if all boxes signed off. Was on the ship two days, participating in various activities, before even hearing about it. Why not put them in the cabins for guests with the list of qualifying activities so they have them as soon as they check in. - was very sad to see there wasn’t one midnight buffet or dessert buffet. Have always enjoyed looking forward to that one special event to see ice sculptures, try unique food/treats Read Less

This is our 4th NCL cruise since 9/2017. If our first NCL Gateaway/Baltic Sea experience in 9/2017 were like this Escape to W. Caribbean, we would probably NOT take 3 consecutive NCL cruised thereafter (Jade, Gem & Escape just now). We rank (my husband, I and my sister for whom I paid for staying in a studio) this Escape cruise as AVERAGE, the first such grade we ever offer for a cruise, including those on Carnaval, Royal Caribbean and Princess. The principal reason is the entertainments. While the theater show of After Midnight was outstanding, the Brat Pack was a disaster due to its "gross" language and contents which were incompatible with the average age of the ship's majority retirees-passengers. We have NEVER witnessed so many people exist right in the middle of performance in any professional shows! The cruise also repeated "same" theater shows multiple times. NOT GOOD. Besides, the comedians were not funny. Magic shows were not that "magic". Supper Club shows generally charged a fee. If the cruise wanted to cover the cost, then why not factored it into the pricing at the beginning? In addition, many shows required reservation onboard (pre-board on-line booking had not been available). We certainly did NOT feel "free" to waste time in line in front of Box Office to make any such reservations. While the cruise entertainments were BAD generally, we give an A to Cruise Director Alvin et al for their effort - they could only deal the cards being given! The foods on board seemed a bit better than the other 3 NCL cruises mentioned above, including the special dinings. The services in all restaurants and Garden Cafe seemed a bit better also. They are the reasons why we rank this cruise experience AVERAGE. Otherwise, we would rank the entertainment alone POOR. The NCL back office who managed this Escape entertainment should be fired, in our opion. At least it could keep us thinking twice before we go on another NCL cruise! Read Less

I am Elite on Princess (40 sailings) but wanted a bit more excitement than they offer and I have frequently sailed on Celebrity. I've sailed on Norwegian (Pearl, Epic, Gateaway and Bliss) four times. I was traveling with a group of 16 and the group wanted a fun-time with a younger environment so we selected the Bliss. I was most excited to sail on the Bliss. The Bliss is a beautiful ship with a wonderful observation area on 15, staterooms are beautiful, disembarkation and embarkation was the best of any cruise. The Bliss is very clean and the staff was wonderful. My stateroom was on deck 14 two floors below deck 16 which is often times referred to as the Lido deck on other ships. I could hear the music starting around 11:00 am and ending around 12:00 or later every evening. Never an opportunity for nap if you are a light sleeper-- music mostly all day and night. I experienced a squeaking/knocking sound coming from the sliding door for better than fours days before I called the Customer Service Desk which they repaid and sent a wonderful gift for any inconvenience this may have caused. I was not able to see any shows due to no open reservation (you have to make a reservation) or partake in the racing cars because they were booked up quickly or only late night appointments were available. The one treat that I love most on all Norwegian cruises is the coconut sherbet. To my disappointment they had no coconut sherbet. The food on the buffet was average although the oxtails and chicken gumbo was outstanding. Seating in what they call the Garden Cafe was a bit of a challenge during lunch and breakfast but you would eventually find a place as on most ships. The Fitness Center was outstanding with wonderful hours. You can get on the treadmill at 6:00 am. With all side I would sail again staying on a lower deck away from deck 16 and making reservation as soon as i get on the ship. Read Less

Each shore excursion started off and ended (debarking/ embarking) entering/exit the ship itself was good, but no ground support, or directions or signs to which line one should be in a close proxamtion to the excurtion you were headed to.. 3000 people heading to double set of doors and not knowing where to go. Tenders, Long line down the middle of the boat, then sit for another 45 minutes in the Epic room, to await on a boat. Returning to the ship.. No signs on where the line starts, lines crossing other lines. and very long. Could see Norwiegian crew staff standing around, but not trying to help. Each shore excursion, we planned, was great, once you got into the correct line... The cruise depends on yourself. Want to have a great time, you can, and will. It's what you make it... My advise to Norwegian staff, We are your employers during the trip. Keep your attitude in your cabin. Keep you options to yourself. Smile when you hate it, If you don't know the question/ answer, state that you don't understand, don't lie, or give false information. Your jobs are tough and your hours are long, we commend your services. Many people will work a whole year just to have a week of peaceful time. Don't make their hard effort's go to waste, That's you jobs, if you can't do it, get another job. There are thousands more waiting to have your job, and, without attitude... Read Less

The Ship was nice. The Entertainment was excellent,...the band "Power of Six" was very talented and able to play a wide range of music. We enjoyed them very much. The comedian was very funny and very good at interacting with the audience. The staff that handled the entertainment were very personable and got to know the guests. The Food staff and Bar staff need to work on being more friendly. The FOOD WAS AWFUL! Seriously....all of it. It did not matter if it was the in sit down restaurants or the buffet... it was awful. Everything that we ordered from the sit down restaurants came with a "surprise"...it was never how it was described on the menu...for instance "shrimp scampi" on the menu was served, it was actually fettucine alfredo with 3 shrimp, the chicken with rice soup came with no rice....rolls were hard, food was bland...overall it was just awful. We chose this cruise as we heard great things about Norwegian and it left out of our home port - New York. I thought this was a win-win for us. I was wrong. The ship was packed and every where you went there were massive crowds. Okay, I get that. However, you couldn't get a reservation for most of the specialty restaurants and the ones we did get - - Italian and Steakhouse were awful. We did not get specialty dining for free. We paid and boy was it not worth it. The main dining rooms were pretty good. The dining staff were great. On another note, I cannot believe a ship of this size does not have mid-ship elevators. You had to walk clear to one end of the ship or the other to get where you were going and it took forever to get on an elevator. A lot of the shows were in the atrium which was insane because you couldn't walk through to get to another part of the ship without having to navigate massive crowds that were standing room only for the shows. I will say the entertainment was great. The staff in the restaurants and bars were great. A shout out to the Tobacco Road bar staff. They were amazing as well as the Latin Band that played there a few nights. Just terrific. The room staff were unfortunately not on the same level. I met our steward once and when I called for a few items (pillows, blankets, etc.), I never heard back or I couldn't get through. Had to call at least 4-5 times before I got a response. It was never like that on Carnival. The staff there couldn't do enough for you. They are amazing. To say we won't cruise on Norwegian again is an understatement. I'm going back to and staying with Carnival. Read Less

Due to weather we missed one port which could not be avoided I guess. Disappointed with entertainment. Production company and Russian arial act only decent evening entertainment. Lady violinist should have had prime time and put juggler, hypnotist, magic act and others during afternoon. Producers need to watch America’s Got Talent and recruit entertainers as what we saw was amateurish. Miss crew talent night. Passenger talent night was a joke and waste of time. Food has gone way downhill in dining room. Crew on NCL continues to be outstanding. Not a prob there. Really enjoyed having lectures. Would recommend having lecturers with a little more depth and not so much fluff. Transit to Miami was a little hairy trying to find. Disembarkation in Miami was a nightmare and we almost missed our flight after allowing four hours to get off and to airport. The problem was blamed on Miami customs. We thought ship was totally refurbished but evidently not. Read Less

Cabin smallest we had ever had, cabin steward hard to comment on as we only saw him a couple of time's but he was very pleasant when we did bump into him . Trips so overpriced we actually cancelled them all apart from the first one (Phuket) and did our own thing from then on for easily a quarter of the price being asked for by NCL, we were very lucky that another passenger mentioned this to us, Something I would recommend to everybody! Entertainment in the evening on two particular nights was excellent and would have happily paid to see them in the West End but the rest was pretty mediocre. We dined on 3 separate nights in Speciality restaurants being Cagney's, Moderno Churrascaria, & La Cucina. Cagneys was excellent, Moderno was also very good, but would not rate La Cucina (poor menu choice and food was only luke warm and not particularly appetising). The main restaurants were reasonable apart from the food when it reached us was nearly always lukewarm, but have to say the staff were on the whole lovely. With so many cruise lines to choose from would we go with NCL again it is very debatable as overall impression was of a company putting profit over the wellbeing of their customers, especially as the life boat drill was a farce and I have never seen anything like it on any other cruise line, heaven help us if there had been an emergency!! I chose Norwegian because I have had nothing but great experiences on previous NCL cruises. This time, embarkation and debarkation were nightmares. It was like this was the first time they were doing this. For this reason alone I am reconsidering cruising out of Tampa on NCL again. The ship was clean, our cabin steward was pretty good, the food was not bad but not a great variety as in previous cruises. Also, the Summer Palace is the place to dine for complimentary meals. It is by far the nicest restaurant. Indigo is a dark hole and the buffet is not too bad but other cruisers are not as conscientious about handling food and being courteous. A lady dunked her chicken drumstick in the gravy instead of pouring it over her food. Another lady was unwrapping the silverware on the tables, touching them and then wrapping them again. What kind of crap is that? Also, the food did not stay at the right temperature unless you got there as they were putting it out. The entertainment was disappointing except for the comedians and Duo Quintessence. The staff was friendly and helpful. The ports were also disappointing. Unless you paid big money to do excursions, the areas around the ports were dirty, run down and the vendors hounded you nonstop. The few excursions that we did were way overpriced. It is always an experience to travel to other places but this is not a cruise I would want to do again. Read Less
