had terrible service at bars. bar tenders worked hard, but needed help to keep up. Drink package extremely too high. traveling friend did not drink, but was forced to pay $1,700 for both if interested. I just didn't drink that much on cruise. Just ok service at restaurants, even the specialty ones (3). Both cabin beds felt like they had nails poking out of them. Had to take pain pills to get thru the night. A lot of over charges that I am having to dispute. A lot of double charges. Charged for lot of drinks I did not receive and don't have receipts for so going to have to dispute those also. Embarkation took over hour and half after we got to pier just waiting in cab. Once inside like chaos boarding. Same for disembarking. Mile long waiting lines to get off! I waited until latest point to go get final bill so it would more likely be close to accurate only to find when I got home and checking credit card bill os all the erroneous charges that even put me over my limit several thousand dollars and effect my credit rating negatively. This was fourth time on this particular ship with prior cruises OK. They just did about everything you could do wrong on this voyage and charged me dearly for it. They don't like it when you win in the casino and was told so! Everyone just suppose to act like sheep and lose a thousand or so and go home happy. Not good business and very unprofessional This is first time after about 65 cruises that I have complained. I just felt this time I had to let other cruisers know things don't always go right but this was awful. Thanks, Im getting writers cramp so will bid you farewell for now. Already have had another cruise planned for April on Symphony of the Seas. Will be first time on this ship. I sure hope things go better.. Bye Read Less

I've cruised several different cruise lines and several different times, but this was my first time with Norwegian! IT WILL BE MY ABSOLUTE LAST TIME I ever cruise Norwegian! There were 14 of us in our group (7 moms, 7 kids ages 7-10 years old) and all of us experienced the issues below. 1. CHARGES - I can't stress this point enough! - Watch your account charges! I prepaid a year in advance for the unlimited drink package and paid all taxes and gratuities. Makes a person think all should be good and paid for except for any additional excursions you choose. They didn't show I had paid for the drink package or for the taxes and gratuities even though I had all my paperwork showing I had paid! I had to become nasty to get what was due to me! This didn't just happen to me it happened to our whole group! There were 14 of us and we spent a huge amount of time at guest services discussing random mini bar charges, dining room charges, service charges, etc. WATCH your account, it seems like a huge scam to nickel and dime you until you wear down. 2. SHIP - the ship has NOTHING to offer kids! No where in our information did it say that the main pool on the ship is "ADULT ONLY"....no kids, no teens in the pool. There is a water slide and a kiddie pool. Now if you have a teenager I think you can understand why a teen would not want to be swimming in the kiddie pool (which is like a pool for 3 and 4 year olds). The entire cruise seemed to be geared around senior adults only. A lot of the main shows cost extra $$ and I've never been on a cruise where the shows cost extra! There are zero waiters around the pool, so you are forced to go up to the bar to get drinks and it takes a long time to get a drink (like 45 minutes). No food is allowed around the pool or at least that's what we were told, so zero poolside snacks. We were also told to get out of or off of the side of the pool with a drink in our hand. The customer service on the ship is absolutely the WORST I've ever experienced. Instead of the mentality of "let's make sure the passengers enjoy their vacation" it's more a mentality of "let's see how much more money we can squeeze out of the passenger's without them noticing". 3. DINING - the food was below average. Nothing horrible to say about it, but nothing great to say. Read Less

This is an old, tired and run down ship that should be retired. The food in the Aloha Cafe was on par with the Golden Corral, tired looking and lukewarm. The bus staff were atrocious. They walked around like zombies, not noticing the dirty plates at the end of the table. We did try the main dining room for lunch and that was a mistake. The nachos and philly cheese steak we order came covered in melted cheese whiz. The food looked like it was under a food lamp for hours. A fast food meal is better than this meal. We must give cudo’s to the staff at Cagney, where we enjoyed a great meal and great service. The manager was very attentive. This meal was deferently the highlight of the cruise. The bathroom in our cabin was small where taking a proper shower was next to impossible. The only standout here was our cabin steward. We did not have time to check out the entertainment as it was poorly planned with the restaurant operations. For example, the Aloha Cafe opens at 6:00 pm and the first show was at 6:30 pm. This meant that we would have to go to later shows Over the earlier shoes. Basically, this cruise is not worth the money we paid for it. The premium we paid for was for an all American crew. There were only a select few of the crew who stood out and truly represented the Pride of America. You’re better flying to each island and booki a hotel on each if. NCL’s POA IS AN EPIC FAIL. We chose this cruise because it was the one my cousin picked for their 10yr anniversary. They chose this cruise because it went to St Thomas, which is where they went on their honeymoon. Boarding was delayed because someone knocked out one of the bridges. Engine failure on second day, which they apparently knew about and set sail anyways. They lied to us the entire time. Tugs pushed ship into docks when we arrived at Puerto Rico. That was the only poet we went to so they could try to fix ship, not on itinerary. We were supposed to still hit our last stop at Grand Stirrup Cay, and they cancelled that stop the night before. We slowed and were given stamp at international port so they didn’t get fined $700 per passenger. Disembarkation was a completely nightmare, as they had no control over who got off when. All of that, and they are only offering a credit. They refuse to give me my money back. Everything was terrible except drinks, food and weather! They could have handled the communication of the issues way better. If they had then all issues would have been overlooked, as we understand things are unpredictable. Read Less

Unless you like to be surrounded by a lot of drunks that party into way hours of the morning, hardly any room at pool, folks hogging all the seats by the already too small pool, mediocre food with long lines, and many fights between passengers...DON"T GO! We stupidly thought the drink package would be a great idea...not so. From the early morning into the next early morning, everyone was unruly. Don't get me wrong, we were on a vacation and enjoy cocktails...this was downright like freshman year in college. Also the show by the pool..Mr."best legs" and Ms. Norwegian were downright VULGAR. Also, not a ship for children or handicapped, children section was extremely small. Do your research and try a different cruise line. It seemed like all the workers on this line were overworked and over tired. We actually felt very badly for them and gave extra tips. I will say on a positive note, the shows were very good Read Less

There is practically nothing to do on that ship. One good show in 14 days, boring violin music (sometimes) most of the time no music at all. Decent music on pool deck but all chairs reserved so no place to sit. Most people on that cruise were playing cards or reading. Drinks are watered down so bad that you can't tell if they have alcohol in them or not. Food not terrible but nothing great either. Lounge chairs are reserved (some people leave the towel on them overnight so no one can use the chairs the next day and they don't show up until 2pm (I checked and towels are left overnight) staff should pick them up after an hour or so if no one shows up on chairs. Went through Panama canal but crew had blocked the view on deck 7 so everybody was on deck 12-13 so we couldn't see anything then they try to sell you the pictures that their photographs took. Service stinks, waiters are also bored and it shows, if you want a drink you have to go get it yourself because waiters will not come and see if you want something. Most of the time you're ignored. Drinks are watered down, there is a 20% gratuity automatically added to the bill and they want more... Bottom line: If you're under 85 years old, get on a different ship Read Less

My wife and I love to cruise, so when we saw this one included all beverages we decided to sail Norwegian this time. I had read a lot of reviews and noted a lot of them mentioned the odor of sewage on the ship. We still decided to go and thought maybe it was a fluke. We get to the port to board and the employee checking us in was absolutely MISERABLE! She barely made eye contact with either of us and didn't offer us a map of the ship, luckily we found one on our own. When it was our turn to board, we followed all the other passengers who has boarded ahead of us (we were group 2). We were greeted with more unpleasant staff who would not let us proceed forward to board because we went thr wrong way. Instead of explaining where to go the just told us the entry was directly beside us. Once on the ship my wife and I immediately noticed the foul odor of sewage. This odor remained the entire cruise. Inside the Dazzels club where the art auction was held the room smelled terribly, like smelly feet. The alcohol was free, however the beer tasted awful! Like it was skunked. The mixed frozen drinks had hardly any alcohol in them and getting a pleasant bartender was impossible. Thank God we found Petar he was wonderful! Our first day at Key West, we booked a boat tour, it got cancelled due to lack of interest. We weren't even given a chance to schedule an alternate shore excursion. The food was also awful at the buffets. Same exact menu everyday. The food at Le Bistro, Crossroads Cafe, and The Palace was very good! The room was good and the bed was comfortable. However, the TV was hazy and basically 2 channels you could watch. Read Less

Did this cruise with a group of 26 people. While the ship was overall beautiful and the food and drinks were great, the price was way too high for what you got. We got the unlimited drink package and the 4 night specialty dining option. While the food and drinks were amazing, the service in 2 of the main dining halls (The Manhattan Room and Taste) were terrible. Took over 2 hours just to get our food and we were seated right when they opened. If you didn't book a reservation for any of the other specialty restaurants or the 3 main dinning halls when you first got on and had to be right when they start boarding, you had to wait to eat a nice dinner at almost 8-9 pm or go eat in the buffet. The one comedy show I was able to see had some very funny comedians and Jersey Boys was awesome but trying to get into these shows was terrible. They put you in a stand by line if you don't have reservations and if people show up 10-15 mins late, they still let these groups in. Wasn't fair in my opinion to those that were there 10-15 mins prior to showtime to get a seat waiting in stand by. Same with the Go-Karts and Laser Tag. The Go-Karts were fun but not worth the extra $10 in my opinion. The staff at the go-kart track was terrible and they let young kids (8-9 yrs old) race that cant even see over the steering wheel, barely reaching the pedals, are not staying over in the right lane so you end up running into them if they can't make the turn. They also get mad if you accidently bump into someone who crashed or cut right in front of you. They also don't even have a standby line for any solo racers so they would let 8 karts go in one and then send out 5 in the next group. Also, you would book a time for 3pm but wouldn't even race until almost and hour later. Also good luck if it rains because if so, they cancel your race without being able to rebook and just give you back your money. Not really fair in my opinion. Both activities they just show you a video and then let you go. Overall the reservation system is total garbage. Outside of those, the Cabin/stateroom is very nice and the staff take very good care of your room and your belongings. Overall, its nice if you just want a getaway but not worth the extra money they nickel and dime you for. Would much rather be back on Carnival next time. Read Less

Just wanted to get away for New Years.....we had taken several NCL cruises in the past so we felt comfortable choosing them again. We like cruising because we like to be pampered and enjoy some nice meals while we relax. We usually boook suites in the Haven just for these reasons. NCL totally dropped the ball on this cruise..... My wife was horrified at the spa.....a woman was assigned to her who had never done a massage in her life.....she burped in my wifes ear every 2 minutes....when she asked to speak to a manager, she was avoided for 3 days and then told that there was nothing that could be done. We went to the buffets that were lacking any flavor or variety.....nobody was putting any extra effort into anything !!!! We tried to go to O'Sheehans for a "break" and were served wings with feathers still on them......we pointed this out to our server who looked at us strange and asked us when we expected her to do about it !!!! The specialty restaurants were just not up to par......we have dined at these restaurants SO many times in the past and we know what its SUPPOSED to be like......its just as if nobody cares anymore...... Thank God we already knew the Haven concierge from a previous NCL cruise to Italy....if not for her and our butler, this would have been even MORE of a nightmare. I believe that NCL came up with a great idea for their freestyle cruising....and that this gave them a lot of business.....unfortunately, they are now obviously resting on past laurels. I sent in all of this (and more) on a survey and nobody from NCL responded..... At this point, I really dont expect them to and we will probably cancel our Fall Foliage cruise with them for later this year..... Absolutely no fun involved at all when you are looking more forward to getting home than being on the cruise !!!!! At least when I got home, I only had my wife yelling at me....on the cruise, I had to deal with the "bingo-mama" and the other "entertainment staff" that was clearly more comfortable questioning the perceptions of the passengers rather than trying to address any possible problems..... At least I was happy to get home to my own toilet.....lol......the one in our cabin would spit the toilet water back up at the person sitting there every 2 minutes......never asked for a bidet....??? Freestyle cruising they call it. They say it empowers you to cruise how you want to. In reality, it just means you have to do all the work. There's nothing waiting for you once you get on-board unless you scheduled or reserved it ahead of time. Want dinner in the main dinning room? Hope you made a reservation. Otherwise you'll have to stand in line and wait your turn. You want specialty dining, booked solid for all the normal meal times. Hope you enjoy the buffet or are willing to wait an hour or more to get a table for you and your family. Yes, let's wait to eat at 9pm with our kids when we have a port of call at 7am the next day. You can always stand in shorter lines and get buffet food though. Nothing we ate on the ship was especially memorable either. The teppanyaki was pretty good but you had to pay extra for that and make reservations. The buffet was basically the same thing every day with a slight variation in main cut of meat they cooked that day. The chinese restaurant was terrible, from the service to the dried out cubes of chicken that was on my plate. We paid extra for the ability to select our cabins. We picked a great spot, same floor, close to each other and near a stair case for easy access. Almost immediately our reservation was cancelled due to an accounting error at NCL and by the time we got them to look into it the rooms had already been reserved by another guest. We spent three weeks asking them how we could fix it and they just kept telling they'd take care of it. Three days before our cruise date we were told the ship is fully booked and they can't doing anything about our room situation. The rooms we ended up in. One room you had to walk to the center of the ship (stairs are at either end) to hallway that took you across the ship the other side of the where our room was the second to last room at the end of a long hallway. It was a several minute walk to get there once we arrived at the floor the room was on. The other room was on another floor and almost halfway down the ship as well. This meant we has to walk almost the entire length the ship and change floors to get to from one room to the other. We were given $200 of non-refundable credit per room and Wifi. Credit we could only spend with NCL. So after being given the run around for three weeks while I assured my family they'd fix it, they did nothing about it, kept our money hostage and wouldn't even speak to us about it beyond the middle managers who could never help us and always had to "talk to corporate". I called multiple times only to get stonewalled and told they would contact corporate and get back to us. The first three time I was told this I never received a call back. Once aboard we were comped one specialty dining meal and after three days they upgrade one of our rooms. This three day wait was for NCL to be sure the persons who didn't board on the sailing date weren't coming. Such a service they provided for those lucky cruisers and they never even showed up! 20% gratuity is charged on top of every service and service was terrible and there was nothing you could do about it. This gratuity was also charged on top of the "Free" offerings as well. So, it didn't matter to the staff, they always got their 20%. Slow and poor service all around the ship. I guess if I wanted to tip for better service I could have but they were already getting an extra 20% out of me. And even if I did tip our wait staff to try and get better service they were different every night. What would have been the point. The $120 ($99 plus the forced 20% gratuity charge) a day "Unlimited Beverage Package" didn't include things like: a cappuccino, fresh juices, redbull or even just a bottle of water if you wanted to bring one with you as you walked the port you just arrived at. All of those were extra costs on top of the large sum you've already agreed to spend each day on beverages. You also can't take anything out of the mini bar in your room that is on the included beverage list. Average glass of wine was $12, do the math and see what it would take to "get your money's worth"! The casino is on the main floor of the ship and you HAVE to walk through it or change floors to get around it. This is an important point as smoking is allowed in the casino. Loved walking through a smokey room with the kids on our way to a meal. Kids areas: We gave the 12yo the right to come and go as they please in their respective area but unfortunately if they did go sign themselves in they would have had to stay there for 2 hours before they would let them leave or we would need to come sign them out before two hours if they were to get out earlier. This rule meant they never even entered the area for fear of being trapped there if it wasn't fun and I don't blame them. The 14yo didn't even want to go near the teen area. Did they get anything right? Getting off the ship was a surprisingly smooth process. We chose the 7am to 8am window and were able to get breakfast early at the buffet and then walk off the ship, grab our luggage and head to our car. I presume this was half related to our decision to do this before crowds began to grow though. Admittedly, with the reservation problem we experienced leading up the cruise, we started with a bad impression of NCL but we promised each other we wouldn't let that spoil our cruise experience. We're a pretty tolerant family and are very understanding that not everything will be perfect. However, the combination of all of these things has created an insurmountably low opinion of the NCL experience. As a family that cruises once or twice a year we wanted to try something different. This was our first time cruising with NCL and after this experience and lack of response by the company it will certainly be our last. Read Less

The only time I really saw any member of the ship that worked there smile we when we were getting off the ship to go back through customs at the end of the trip. The Ultimate Beverage Package is a joke. It does not include everything and anything. Every other cruise line does, not this one. Even the generic coffee cafe that was terrible was not included. What is free is only the well alcohol they deem well and what they have priced themselves as $15 or under. Anything they have priced over that or is espresso is not included and you have to pay. I only saw my room steward three times the entire 7 day cruise. Everything is extra. The ports we stopped at only had what the ship had onboard. They were not concerned with customer service and made sure we all knew it. Waiting at one of the pool bars for a drink, a bartender started yelling that we all had to get in a line if we wanted to be served because she was tired of having to go around the bar to figure out what we all wanted and we were bothering her. If we didn't get in line, we wouldn't be served. None if the bartenders made eye contact or acknowledged you until they were ready. Only two bartenders on the entire ship were worth anything but by day three, everyone figured out who they were and waiting to get drinks was to long. The other bartenders admitted they weren't experience and complained about having to stand like they were and it hurt their backs. The food on the entire ship, including restaurants, could be compared to Golden Corral quality. I lost weight instead of gaining, which I guess could be considered a positive, but not when you pay as much as we did expecting to have the time off our life and really ended up just waiting for it to be over and back home by day three on the ship. I will NEVER do another Norwegian cruise line ever in my life. Do Royal or even Carnival before you even think or try to consider Norwegian. Their customer service on and off the ship was terrible and the service and care you get while on the cruise could be compared to the crappy kiosks inside of a low rate mall or even at a Long John Silvers. Don't do it. Read Less

When I did my research, Norwegian Getaway seemed to meet our expectations: relaxed atmosphere, fun activities for kids. What a disappointment it turned out to be. Most of its service staff wore a sad face. They seemed to be busy and self absorbed. All they cared was to have their job done according to their time table. We were once all chased out of our room because the housekeeping guy wanted to clean our room. For the most part of our trip, for some peculiar reasons, he seemed to be determined to show up and clean our room right after we came back from onshore excursions, while the room had been empty all morning. As for kids activities, we were very excited about their "splash academy", which was supposed to provide lots of fun activities for kids. Turned out they only organized no more than 5 activities through out the entire 7 day trip. We purchased their wifi package and was only able to get connection on the first day. There was no connection for the rest of the trip. My daughter was so bored she finally picked up a book we packed for her and finished it. I will have to give Norwegian cruise line credit for this. They served same thing for breakfast everyday. Food was tasteless in general. We have just spent 7 days on a boring ship surrounded by an unhappy crew. So sad. Read Less

Mostly the food was bland (Cagneys) or in some cases inedible (Le Bistro - duck) and what we did like (La Cucina) could be found in Manhattan anyway (ravioli and gnocchi were exactly the same!) Ports: you have to be kidding!!!! Every single port you are stopping at the most ancient, unkempt, and in some cases downright dangerous ports I’ve ever seen. Add on the fact that you have to walk 1 1/2 miles to get to ANYTHING. loved that we didn’t get to go to Grand Cayman at all because they canceled the tenders because seas were too “rough”. Funny that the Royal Caribbean ship that pulled in behind us was able to tender with NO ISSUES. this was immediately following the stop at Costa Maya where we couldn’t get away from the entire port smelling of sewage. But the icing on the cake was Jamaica where we pulled up to Reynolds’s Pier which was essentially nothing more than a grain elevator for barges. It was filthy, had locals hovering around and above the disgusting walkway cat calling the girls and making lewd gestures for all passengers. We didn’t get off the boat because none of us felt safe doing so. Cleanliness/passenger safety: obviously there was a huge issue on our sailing with some sort of pathogen because we lost our ability to have salt, pepper, ketchup and mustard halfway through, our menus were turned into paper print-outs and washy-washy became urgent instead of a suggestion. Add to that the hallway fogging, and post-cruise hazmat suited spray-down and yes I’m sure we’re all going to show up home with some terrible malady. Not one cruise person explained what was going on. Not one. Just made things very inconvenient with zero explanation. Communication with this type of thing makes all the difference. Had the ship been aware of whatever the problem was maybe everyone would be more aware and careful and if they did come down with something immediately after be able to tell their dr what was going on. But no, better to leave everyone in the dark. Stateroom: room was nice, shower and bathroom were nice, room steward was excellent. Room was a spa mini-suite and while nice was not even close to worth the money for the very little square footage. Staff: we found the waiters/waitresses and bartenders excellent. Guest services also very good. Venues: terrible. Everything is 1000 decibels in a teeny tiny room. Why? No subtle music. Everything blaring. Completely unnecessary. Freestyle: no way. There is nothing freestyle about this cruising. You have to reserve everything and even with reservations to shows you have to show up an hour early so you can be sure to get in. We spent more time waiting in lines than we did enjoying shows so eventually we just stopped even trying. Ship: we have cruised the western Caribbean several times (at least 5) and never, EVER suffered through as much movement as we did on this ship and that includes one sailing where we came through a storm with 12 foot seas and heavy winds! This boat was constantly rocking and bouncing so if it has any stabilizers you should call the ship builder and ask for your money back. They DONT WORK AT ALL. One of our family spent his entire cruise in his stateroom because he couldn’t deal with the motion. After 12 other cruises this is the only one where I had to leave dinner twice because of motion sickness. It was awful. Selling, selling, selling: most ridiculous cruise I’ve ever been on for selling and ridiculous charges. Unlimited drink package. A joke. No bottled water? No coffee? What exactly does unlimited MEAN to you??? Every other line I’ve been on those are included. We’re at port, happy embarkation, charged for every drink (tax) - has NEVER occurred on any other cruise. Coming home, we’ll were close to shore so charging you again. Soda, sure for $4 a piece and some tax. Again, what is the drink package for??? Drinks at the bar, if it’s not on the menu don’t bother asking, can’t be done. Can only get this drink at that bar etc etc etc. everywhere you turn it’s charge for this, charge for that. You can’t take two steps without someone shoving something in your face that you need to buy. You can’t get away from it. Ever. Watch a movie, if you don’t run fast enough another sales pitch shoved down your throat. Summary: never again. Ever. We cruise every year usually more than once. My husband and I and our extended family who were all on this cruise agreed, never again. We all said the same, I’ve never hated a cruise before, until now. We couldn’t wait to get home which is the exact opposite of every other cruise we’ve been on where we are heartbroken when it’s over. Definitely know it won’t be NCL again for any of us. Read Less

I had a great cruise on Epic in 2015 I gave the trip 5 stars in my review. Things have gone way downhill since then. The Entertainment on the ship was pretty good and a good variety of activities were offered. Krystal the solo host was very nice and helpful. The Thermal spa was also nice and I made a daily visit to the sauna and Hydrotherapy pool. I found it clean the drinking water was always filled and there were lots of clean towels and robes always availible, I never had trouble finding a heated stone lounger to relax on. My room Stewart Ahmed was also very good and kept my room clean all the time. The big issue with this boat was service in the Taste dining room Dinner usually took about 3 hours with most of the time spent staring at empty dishes. I could not get a refill of water without flagging down a server. One evening I had to find a water pitcher at a server station and refill all the water at my table. Usually half the table left before desert because they did not want to waste the entire evening waiting for cold mediocre food. I spoke to the matre'd twice and nothing ever got better. When I went there for breakfast once a man at my table asked for syrup for his Waffles or pancakes and the server said no you can't have syrup there was some sauce there and use that. The other time I went to breakfast there I asked for butter for my toast she said she would get it then disappeared not to be seen again that morning. My biggest complaint is that when the issues were brought up nothing was done to fix them. I did not go to the MDRs for the last 5 days of the cruise. I ate at the sub golden corral quality buffet or at O sheehans which actually had pretty good food and service. The entertainers did a good job I liked the singer Tetiana who let me get up on stage with her. Burn the Floor was awesome even seeing my 3rd version of it. The ship overall is too crowded I missed several shows because dinner took all evening and the theater is too small for the ship and was full by the time I escaped from the dining room. A lot of people did a really good job making guests happy on the cruise. But a few uncaring horrible Servers in Taste made all their work go to waste since the main thing everyone will remember is how bad the service and food was at Taste. Read Less

We have been using NCL for almost a decade, even had our wedding on Breakaway in 2015, but Escape is same class ship tuned down on interior design. Ship is simple design with no personally, practical floating hotel. We stayed in balcony room with a baby and toddler and it was OK, steward was OK, always busy and barely have time to anyone to talk. Management of the ship was an amazing crew, and anyone under was complete mess. Waiters in restaurants don't know what they doing and would screw up any simple order. Food in restaurants was OK, but buffet food is awful, minimum choices, a lot of cheap meat, no seafood or even NCL signature Norwegian lox. Specialties restaurant's food was amazing, and pricey and will make your wallet cry! In 14 days cruise we had only 2 free show After Midnight, Brat Pack, second one did not made any sense. Choir of Man show, is paid show with prefix dinner setting, was OK. We had one stop cancel due to 2 heliocopter lifts from the ship first two days with no explanation, and remaining stops were simple beach destinations. We end up spending more time on the ship due to cancelled stop, and there is nothing to do there. Kids sevice is ok for 3+ and for baby you have to pay $20 for 1 hour 50 min selected slot time. Overall experience of this cruise, is that NCL is cutting their cost by taking quality out of scope in any possible way they can. NCL becoming low class, no frills cruise line. Based off our last 14 day cruise, we are not coming back with NCL to cruise and will be looking for more classy company to cruise with. Read Less

Shower was clogging very bad but had it fixed within a day. Food in the main dining room was average. Buffet was actually Excellent. Went to medernos, the Brazilian steakhouse..... So horrible. Food was not good at all. All meet was so over cooked and chewy. Staff was so inattentive. Wasted money. Sushi was great! No surf and turf at all. It was like pulling teeth to just have some shrimp. Drinks were good. But drink package is ridiculously expensive. The ports made our trip enjoyable. Although everyone port except harvest key was only shopping unless you take a 30 min cab. This was the most expensive cruise we've gone on and compared to our past ones on carnival and royal, this is definitely our last time on Norwegian Read Less

This cruise was recommended to us. We have been saving and preparing for this trip for over a year. This was my wife's birthday week. The checking in and boarding process was long and hot. Designated arrival times do not even matter. Every restaurant/ buffet/ cafe that was included was mediocre at best. If you wanted to see shrimp, and lobster, and other expected cruise ship foods, you will have to get it from the ocean on this cruise. Outside of the cabin Stewart, Casino staff, and some wait staff, the service was terrible. The ship layout has the main buffet dining at the top of the ship, so prepare to walk stairs a lot, because elevators are not efficient unless you go to breakfast at 6AM. My wife went to the spa to have her hair styled for dinner, and the person who did her hair made some insensitive comments about her hair and face that brought my wife to tears when she got back to the cabin. Excursions are chaotic and stressful with a lot of waiting. Recommend going onshore by yourself and doing the same activities at your pace. Felt like a retirement community by 11PM. That's when the bars on the ship start to close up, except Bliss, which smelled like urine, H2O, and the casino. Prepare to go to bed early on this boat. We disembarked with our luggage, and got off very quickly. Read Less

From the moment we stepped on the ship and saw the filthy windows everywhere that we looked I was concerned about the EPIC. Last year we took a cruise on the ESCAPE and had such a wonderful experience that we immediately put money down on another cruise with Cruise next. This year we didn't. The Epic was a huge disappointment. Unlike The Escape, not once were any of the windows/balconies cleaned while we were in port. Our room was filthy and the bathtub was filled with mold. The room steward never refilled anything like sugar, shampoo, lotion, soap etc. The boat was so noisy and shuddered continuously. So much so that the glass doors on the tub and the toilet rattled all night, every night. The first time I went into the room and used the toilet, there was a piece of glass and I cut my foot open...not a great start!! The television had so little options with channels and we had to keep watching the same 10 minutes of a crappy cartoon in between shows. We never knew that the first port in the Bahamas was a private NCL island and that we had to get a tender, communication was terrible!! Whereas Harvest Caye was beautiful last year, Great Stirrup Caye is in need of a major facelift. The port of call in Jamaica at Ocho Rios should just stop. The beaches are so rocky getting into the water that I was almost over my head in the ocean before I finally felt sand. It was very painful. After speaking to many other guests that went to other excursions on the island they all had the same experiences. During the trip, we spoke to a lot of other people and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM HAD THE SAME COMPLAINTS! Almost every one of them said that they would never use NCL again, as of right now we aren't sure if we ever will either. If it wasn't for the wonderful experience that we had on the Escape we definitely wouldn't. We saw discrimination against a gay couple by the assistants to the cruise director that made us sick! The glow party was ruined for practically everyone because little kids were allowed to run around and knock over drinks and constantly bump into adults trying to dance and have fun, it wasn't the place for kids. It was brought to the attention to the cruise director by multiple people and he couldn't have cared less. Because of all of this and other reasons I rated this cruise poor...only because it was the lowest option available. Read Less

Our family was aboard the ILL-FATED Norwegian JADE cruise, which departed Miami on November 16, 2018. We departed Miami on Friday afternoon, and on Sunday, November the cruise was abruptly terminated in Puerto Rico (our first port of call) due to "mechanical issues." Several crew members told us that the ship's propellers became entangled in FISHING NETS. At around 11:00 pm on Sunday an announcement was made over the ship's P.A. system. The announcement was short and sweet. The ship encountered mechanical problems, the cruise was terminated, and they would open up the wi-fi so passengers could get online to arrange flights home from San Juan. From Sunday night to Monday, the situation became a total fiasco. There appeared to be no one in charge, no one had any useful information, and passengers were left to figure things out on their own. We managed to book our own flights home, but we (along with all other passengers) were then told that no one could help us get our bags off the ship. This made it nearly impossible for many families and elderly people to disembark. Finally, I paid a crew member $60 to help get my bags on a luggage cart and help us disembark via the freight elevator. It has now been THREE WEEKS since the cruise tanked, and still NO WORD FROM NCL. No apology, no email, and NO CREDIT VOUCHER TOWARDS A FUTURE CRUISE, which was promised in writing while still on the ship. I called Norwegian, and they instructed me to go online and fill out a "case" request, and that someone would get back to me within 15 days. Really? That's the best they can do? After spending over $10,000 for a Suite on a 10-night cruise, you would think NCL would be on top of it....but that has not been the case. We did finally receive a refund (processed to our credit card), but nothing else. After something like this occurs, putting thousands of people in a terrible situation, NCL should have immediately had their Customer Service reps email apology letters to everyone on board, and get the refunds and future credit issues sorted out ASAP. We all understand that mechanical issues, fishing nets, and other unexpected events can happen.....BUT, it is how you deal with these issues that makes all the difference. In this case, bad news turned into total chaos on the ship with no one knowing what to do, followed by thousands of Jade guests camping out in the San Juan airport trying to get home. If you are considering a cruise because YOU DON'T LIKE TO FLY, think again. You may end up with no option but flying home if something goes wrong. Sadly, NCL has really dropped the ball. Zero follow up or communication, and a big ZERO from us in terms of customer service and the way this company operates. Read Less

We choose it cause we were goin on different places however our boat had a mechanical issue and we were stuck in PR. we were supposed to leave on the 9:45 to leave at 12:45 but our flight had been delay. Also the service is so bad with kids. There were many occasions where my teenage kids went to dine by themselves and didn’t get water or food until an HOUR later. Literally want service is this. I really disliked this cruise and i feel like it’s for older people then it is for the young kids and adults. The workers care more about the old ppl rather than the young. And I’m not ok with that. So glad I’m going home. I couldn’t with the terrible service we got and the disrespect my kids also got from the services. We also had to wait over 3 hours for our plan so we can leave. It’s so annoying. It i do encourage to put ur kids in the clubs. They will get treated well and make friends. Read Less
